Users Immigration from Database to OID

Hi all,
I want to migrate users from Database 10g into Oracle AS 10g Rel2 OID.
Any body have steps or a link to the procedure.
Thanks and Regards,
Fahim

Hi Fahim,
If you want to create OID user accounts based on your database accounts, you may find the following DBMS_LDAP samples useful:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/id_mgmt/plsqlapi/index.html
If I remember correctly, you will have to place your database users in a .ldif file and then import them into OID. The sample code can be modified to do this.

Jim

  • How to log in with user credentials from database table

    Hello all.
    I have a table named users_1 in my database. This table has columns named username, password, email and userid. On userid, I have put a sequence.
    Now, I have manually made 1 row in this table, with in it the user credentials.
    How can I edit my application so that I can use these credentials to log onto the application?
    Please, a step-by-step text would make me rather happy, instead of getting a link with information that I should read. I've read most of it, and it just doesn't make any sense to me, so I prefer a guide-trough.
    Thanks..

    Hi Magali,
    You want only user from database can access your application.
    follow the steps given below.
    Step1  :  create function to authenticate users
    create or replace FUNCTION  "CUSTOM_AUTHENTICATE" (p_username in VARCHAR2, p_password in VARCHAR2)
    return BOOLEAN
    is
      l_password varchar2(4000);
      l_stored_password varchar2(4000);
      l_count number;
    begin
    select count(*) into l_count from users_1 where upper(username) = upper(p_username);
    if l_count > 0 then
       select upper(password) into l_stored_password from users_1 where upper(username) = upper(p_username);
       l_password :=  upper(p_password);
        if l_password = l_stored_password then
          return true;
        else
          return false;
        end if;
    else
      return false;
    end if;
    end;
    Step2  : create authentication scheme for your application
    Go to Application Builder->select your application->shared component->security->authentication scheme->create
    a) custom scheme : Based on a pre-configured scheme from the gallery
    b) give some name to your scheme like custom_scheme or something
    c)scheme type : database account
    d) verify function name = return CUSTOM_AUTHENTICATE
    e) go to = Login Page
    f) Logout url = f?p=&APP_ID.:101 // here 101 is login page no..so you can set your login page no.
    step3  : make this scheme as current scheme
    select your scheme and click make current
    now try to login into your application from your database users..
    Hope this will helps you,
    Thanks,
    Jitendra

  • How to delete user SAP* from database in MaxDB

    I´m unable to login with user SAP* into client 000 but in other clients.
    How can I delete the user SAP* from client 000 that I can login with the standard password?
    Is it possible within a transaction in another client or only on DB?

    Hi Damian,
    You need to connect to MaxDB SQL studio using user SuperDBA,admin
    Run the following commands
    select bname from <SAPSCHEMA>.USER02 where bname='SAP' and MANDT='000;*
    This will list user SAP* from client 000
    delete from <SAPSCHEMA>.USR02 where bname='SAP' and MANDT='000';*
    This will delete SAP* from client 000.

  • Sychronisation AD - OID: Is it possible to read the user password from AD?

    Hi.
    We are using the Oracle Internet Directory shipped with the Oracle 9i Database Rel. 2 (9.2.0.1).
    I try to synchronise the user accounts from AD to OID using JAVA JNDI. I'm able to read all necessary user information except the user password (MD5 value). Even if I connect to the AD using SSL, it's not possible to read the attribute userPassword.
    Is anybody out there who got this work or knows a way (may also be by the use of another programming language or tool) to get the user password out of AD? Is this possible? How does the Oracle Integration Agents accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Hermann S.

    Hermann,
    I am working with this as well, though from AS10g, not RDBMS. According to the OID Administrator Guide chapter 43, page 43-52:
    <snip>
    Synchronizing passwords from Microsoft Active Directory to Oracle Internet Directory is not possible in the Oracle Application Server 10g release because passwords in Microsoft Active Directory are not accessible by LDAP clients. However, if a deployment requires passwords to be available in Oracle Internet Directory, then the following two methods are recommended:
    Build a custom plug-in for Microsoft Active Directory that captures a password change and synchronizes it with Oracle Internet Directory
    Manage Active Directory passwords from the Oracle environment. This enables passwords to be available in both Oracle Internet Directory and Microsoft Active Directory because the Active Directory connector can synchronize passwords from Oracle Internet Directory to Microsoft Active Directory.
    </snip>
    As10g can however look up the password in AD using the "Active Directory External Authentication Plug-In". This is documented in the same chapter.
    Hope this helps,
    Jens

  • Select user from dual with oid + oss ?

    Implementing a solution for global user administration, authentication and application schema mapping, will it break the simple but efficient possibility to do a 'select user from dual' ?
    If it is possible which value will we get, a global user identifier from the directory or something else ?
    Thanks in advance for your help

    Actually we authenticate user using internal database users. Each user depending on his enterprise role will have a set of synonyms deployed to map the application schema. It is complex to handle a large set of users schema. With OSS it seem to be possible to authenticate user using an external LDAP directory (OID) and to map this user to an application schema switch user's enterprise role.
    But I want to evaluate the impact of deployeing such solution, because our application use some 'select user from dual' single query to track user activity in some manner (this can be done using triggers or pl/sql api that do this job). If it is possible to have an unique user identifier in the database session context, even using external authentication and schema mapping of OSS we'll have less impact on the application. Else we'll have to change some API signatures to handle this user identifier.
    Context is :
    - use LDAP external functionalities provided with OSS to increase user management at an enterprise level ... single sign-on is our goal ,-)
    - use schema mapping to reduce our complexity of schema management. One schema foreach role rather than one schema per user.
    So, will we be able to individually know which user have the session in the database, rather than the shared schema name. If it is possible, the impact on our application will be really minor ...
    Thanks in advance for your help. If someone who read this lines have such system deployed and can try the 'select user from dual', I'll be glad on the answer that the database will give ,-)

    is there any command to find it?
    example we have 10 databases in one server, how to find the number of users connected to particular database without connecting to database(v$session)?
    oracle version:- 10g,11g

    any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thank you.

    Excellent.
    Tested, works as long as you set the ORACLE_SID first ( to change databases )
    ps -ef | grep $ORACLE_SID | grep "LOCAL=NO" | awk '{print $2}' | wc -l
    Thanks!

  • How to check SSO user from database?

    Hi:
    I've posted this topic in Forms forum:
    How to check SSO user from database?
    then as I've been told, it's better to post it here, so ...... here is the question:
    I'm writing a "before delete trigger" to insert into log table before delete. Is there a way that I know from database the current SSO user when SSO users share one database user?
    Just like in Oracle Application Express there is v('APP_USER') to know the current user.
    Saad,

    End users are manipulating data through Oracle Forms(and SSO through portal) and the thing I need is to trace the SSO username from database without modifying forms, I mean purely from database taking into consideration that SSO users are sharing one database user. Is it possible?
    Saad,

  • Users not provisioned from OIM to OID groups

    I've created an Access policy such that when i create a user with role as consultant he is automatically provisioned to OID resource and OID group( cn=group1,cn=groups,dc=ad,dc=company,dc=com ).
    The user is provisioned to OID users(cn=users) but not to cn=group1,cn=group....
    What could be wrong?
    i have run the OID group lookup tasks to generate freshly added group lookups. Theses lookups are populated in process form when i create an access policy.
    For ex the lookup generated is cn=group1,cn=group,dc=ad,dc=company,dc=com and the decode value is group1
    The user profile and process form are not linked. That means changes in process form are not reflected to user profile. Can this be possible reason for the hassle defined above
    please help me resolve this issue.
    Edited by: Chhavi Saluja on Feb 15, 2010 1:30 AM

    Hi,
    Today I have also done the same thing of auto provisioning of OID through access policy. Only difference is that for selecting "Container DN" and "User group" we have created two user defined fields(lookup)in the user form which will refer to the lookups "Lookup.OID.Organization" and "Lookup.OID.Group" for inputs.These lookups are already reconciled once from OID.
    As far as "container DN" iam successful but while selecting "user group" iam able to select and when i click on "create user" user is getting provisioned to OID into Container DN i specified.But user is not going into that particular group i specified.Iam assuming the reason is that as User Group is a mutivalued attribute and if we observe the process form of group selection we will see the add button. But on user form we dont have the option of child form to ADD/REMOVE the groups.
    Someone pls suggest how to proceed further on this.How do i push the user into particular group/groups from the create user form itself?

    That is not the log output of the OID connector. Check the connector docs, and enable the OID logging only. The INVALID_NAMING_ERROR means something is wrong with the naming of your object. Most likely there is an LDAP error output somewhere, but all the output you provided is info level, nothing wrong with it.

  • How to check the value from user input in database or not?

    Hello;
    I want to check the value of user input from JtextFiled in my database or not.
    If it is in database, then i will pop up a window to tell us, otherwise, it will tell us it is not in database.

    You may have working code now, but the code you posted is horrible and I'm going to tell you a much much much better approach for the JDBC part. (You should probably isolate your database code from your user interface code as well, but I'm skipping over that structural problem...)
    Do this instead:
        public void getData(String a){
            PreparedStatement p;
            String strQuery = "select count(*) the_count from customer where id = ?";
            try {
             //create a prepared statement object to execute sql statements, it's better, faster, safer
             p = c.prepareStatement(strQuery);
                // bind the parameter value to the "?"
                p.setInt(1, Integer.parseInt(a) );
                //execute the query
                ResultSet rs = p.executeQuery( );
                // if the query doesn't throw an exception, it will have exactly one row
                rs.next();
                System.out.println("i am testing");
                if (rs.getInt("the_count") > 0 ) {
                // it's there, do what you need to...
             else
                  JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"I could not find the value");
            catch (SQLException e) {
                 // JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"You may enter wrong id");
                 // if you get an exception, something is really wrong, and it's NOT user error
            // always, always, ALWAYS close JDBC resources in a finally block
            finally
                p.close();
        }First, this is simpler and easier to read.
    Second, this retrieves just the needed information, whether or not the id is in the database. Your way will get much much slower as more data goes into the database. My way, if there is an index on the id column, more data doesn;t slow it down very much.
    I've also left some important points in comments.
    No guarantees that there isn't a dumb typo in there; I didn't actually compile it, much less test it. It's at least close though...

  • Migrate users from FND_USER to OID

    We are planning to authenticate Oracle apps users against OID and have installed a 9iAS Portal 1.0.2.2.2 environment with 11.5.7 and OID for this purpose.
    We need to migrate user information (username and password as a minimum) from FND_USER to OID. Is there a recommended way of doing this? Can the encrypted password in FND_USER be moved directly across to OID?
    Any help much appreciated.

    If your source and target servers can have access to each other use dipassistant utility to migrate all users with passwords to new server.
    Use this article for details.

  • Retriving user details from user rofile in portal database

    HI all,
    any one knows how to retrive user details from user rpofile in portal database. I am using webdynpro appliction.Please reply.
    Thank you

    Hi maruti Rao ,
    All Gives U gud Idea..here i give u some brief procedure.First of all u need to add 2 jar file in ur project structure for proper working of "com.sap.security.api.IUser" Interface. After that for retriving Users data Stored on LDAP Server.
    If you are using an LDAP directory as a data source for your user-related data, the ‘logical’ attribute names used by the Java application programming interface (API) of SAP User Management Engine (UME) must be mapped to the ‘physical’ attribute names used in the schema of your corporate LDAP directory.
    Example Data-Source File is as Below From Where U can Get All The Information of Logged user...
    <dataSources>
    <dataSource id="CORP_LDAP"

  • Selecting the data from database and sending to users  using javamail

    how to select the records from database table in oracle and send automatically to users using javamail. I am able to send the txt msg. but dont know how to send the selected table data to users automatically.
    can anyone suggest how to write the steps with database connection to send msgs containing data to different users
    Thank You

    using JDBC..you want to
    1. create the connect
    2. open the connection
    3. query the table for the data
    4. loop through the resultset to retrieve rows of data
    5. do something with the data
    6. email the result
    once you have the data, it is up to you to determine the format to send to the user using JavaMail. It is easiest to send plain text
    here's a site that give code example (for all steps above relating to JDBC):

  • For running utlrp.sql need users termination from the database?

    Hai All,
    My database jobs terminated in some time. So I want to run utlrp.sql for compiling all invalid objects. Is It needs users termination from the database? or login to restricted session? Please give a correct step for doing this activity..
    Please help?

    database? or login to restricted session? Please
    give a correct step for doing this activity..
    It is good , if you run utlrp.sql in restricted mode also set job_queue_processes =0 and check no dbms_job running package ( if package is valid then fine ). Problem only come when package/procedure are locked/in use by session. If invalid package are not used by any session then you can run utlrp.sql without restricted mode also. Well you know better you application.
    Since you not altering any dependencies, just want to compile , you can run without restricted mode.
