Using a multivalued parameter in a report

Hi,
I want to create a report with a multivalued string parameter.
I tried the following code but it does not work:
IPropertyName my_prop_name
Map m_parameterDefinitions = new HashMap();
m_parameterDefinitions.put(my_prop_name, new PropertyDef(PropertyType.STRING,true,true,false,false,false));
List my_values = new ArrayList();
my_values.add("zero");
my_values.add("one");
my_values.add("two");
m_parameterDefaults.put(my_prop_name, my_values);
IReportInputMeta m_meta = ReportInputMeta.getInstance(m_parameterNames, m_parameterDefinitions, m_parameterDefaults);
does anyone knows how should I do to make it work?
thanx.
Bassem.

As far as I understand, the reporting UI does not support multivalued parameters.
Best regards, Julian

  • How to use Dynamic cascading parameter in crystal Report XI ?

    Hi,
    I want to use Dynamic cascading parameter in crystal Report XI which is to be viewed through the infoview without using the Business View.Is it possible?
    I could implemented Dynamic cascading parameter using the CR XI developer without using Business View, but cannot view the report when uploaded it to BOXI, through infoview.
    Please suggest..
    Thanks in advance..
    Rajneesh

    In the crystal reports field explorer>right click on parameter field>create new-->name the parameter field and select the type as dynamic. Now in the value field click the row and add the database field also add another field below that by clicking on the next row so..on. The order should be like this parent field first and then child field next...... Also click on the last column to add parmater for each level.

  • How to use the region parameter of main report for subreport chart titles?

    I am using Crystal Reports 11.
    I create 1 main report with 10 sub-reports that contain cross-tabs & charts. The main report has a parameter regarding 3 different areas: region1, region2, and region3.
    I use the method of adding the u2018regionu2019 parameter of main report to the selection formula of the sub-reports. So, I can select 'region' from main report to controll outputs in sub-reports by region.
    I use formulas for chart titles, e.g.:
    Select {Product Code}
    Case 'a111':
      u2018Region1 u2013 a111 Counts'
    Case u2018b222u2019:
      u2018Region1 u2013 b222 Counts'
    u2026
    u2026
    Default:
    u2026
    Since I pass the u2018regionu2019 parameter of main report to sub-reports, I have to change chart titles dynamically based on the region I select.
    How can I use the region parameter from main report in the formulas to get chart titles dynamically?
    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you.
    I am not using Chart Title with "Chart Expert".
    I am using a formula for chart titles, e.g.:
    Select {Product Code}
    Case 'a111':
      u2018Region1 u2013 a111 Counts'
    Case u2018b222u2019:
      u2018Region1 u2013 b222 Counts'
    u2026
    u2026
    Default:
    u2026
    I drag this formula above the charts and it looks like a dynamic title. So, for product a111, the chart title would be "Region1 u2013 a111 Counts"; for product b222, the chart title would be "Region1 u2013 b222" Counts; and so on ...
    Because I pass the region parameter from master report to subreport, I want to change the region part of the chart titles dynamically.
    For example,
    when select Region1, the chart titles should be: "Region1 u2013 a111 Counts"; "Region1 u2013 b222"; ...
    when select Region2, the chart titles should be: "Region2 u2013 a111 Counts"; "Region2 u2013 b222"; ...
    I want to add the region parameter into the tiltle formula.
    How should I do?

  • Passing Multivalued parameter to sub report in SSRS

    Hi Team,
    I tried passing multi valued parameter to sub report in SSRS but the report is blank.
    Rgds,
    Shree

    Hi Shree,
    As per my understanding, the issue is caused by the multiple-value parameters are not passed from the main report to the subreport correctly. Please refer to the steps below to check whether you configure the subreport parameter settings correctly:
    Drag a Subreport control from toolbox to design surface.
    Right-click the Subreport to open the Subreport Properties dialog box, then select the correct report as subreport.
    Click Parameters in the left pane.
    Add parameters as below (Parameter1 is a single-value parameter, Parameter2 is a multi-value parameter in subreport ):
    Name: Parameter1              Value: [@ReportParameter1]
    Name: Parameter2              Value: =Split(join(Parameters!ReportParameter2.Value,","),",")
    Please also directly select or type the same values in subreport to check whether the subreport works well with those parameter values.
    Thanks,

  • Need to use DocNum as parameter in Crystal report

    Dear All,
    I am developing a report for our customer now. It is a invoice report. We need 2 parameters
    1) Customer code (drop-down list. can only choose one each time)
    Here is my token
    Customer@ SELECT CardCode, CardName FROM OCRD WHERE CardType = 'C' ORDER BY CardCode
    2) Then we need another parameter to display all invoice number for the specific customer. How can I create the parameter here?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Yuka

    You create two parameters in Crystal Reports. Try these
    One for Cusomer (Customer@Select CardName from OCRD where CardType='C')  - This would be String, Dynamic
    One for DocNum - Type :Number , Static
    Import the crystal report using Report Layout Manager to the app menu.
    Then navigate to the patch and click on the report, when the report loads you should see a dropdown list for Customer Name and the DocNum will be blank.
    Click on View-->System Information and findout field info
    create a query : Select DocNum,CardCode,CardName,DocTotal,DocDueDate from OINV where CardCode=$[TableName.Field]

  • Creating multivalue parameter in SSRS on top of DB2 views

    How to create multivalue parameterized report in SSRS for belo scenerio:
    Data source is DB2 and we don't need to write whole query as expression while creating dataset.
    But if we don't need to write whole query as expression in SSRS, is that possible to create the view in DB2 with same expression query and while calling the view in SSRS, how multivalue report can be generated.

    Hi Andy,
    Based on my understanding, you want to create a multivalued parameter in your report. When creating the parameter, you don’t want to write a whole query to specify the parameter’s value which is used in the main dataset, right?
    In Reporting Services, if we want to create a multivalued parameter, we can create a new dataset to populate the valid values for the parameter. Within the new dataset, we needn’t write a whole query which is used in the main dataset, we can only retrieve
    those data which will be used by the parameter. So in your scenario, you can write a simple query to populate the valid values for the multivalued parameter. If you create a view on database side, you can also call the view in SSRS to retrieve the corresponding
    data, then specify the values for the parameter with those data.

  • USING A PASSING PARAMETERS IN A REPORT

    I don't know how to use a passing parameter in Reports.
    I have a form in which i have a button with the following trigger WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED :
    DECLARE
    p1_id ParamList ;
    BEGIN
    p1_id:=Create_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    Add_Parameter(p1_id,'LOCATIA',TEXT_PARAMETER,:VLOCATIA);

    END;
    I don't know how to use this passing parameter in my report. This report have a trigger in which I have to use this parameter.

    hello,
    create a user-parameter in your report and use the name you used in the ADD_PARAMETER command in forms.
    you can then access the parameter from inside your PLSQL logic in reports using the bind syntax (e.g. :myParameter)

  • Two commands in the report using the same parameter - fail under Java

    I have a report that contains 2 SQL commands.
    Both of these commands use one parameter X of type Number in their 'WHERE' clause.
    When i'm viewing the report in CR 2008, i'm asked for a value of this parameter and all data is filled in the report - OK
    The problem occurs when the same report is printed through Crystal Java Runtime:
    Report is printed without data! - it's empty.
    What we noticed in the debug information thrown by the Crystal libraries is that parameter value is set only in one of these commands:
    Original statement 1:
    select a.something
    from ANM_T a
    where a.anmid = {?PARAMETER01Id}
    Original statement 2:
    SELECT * from ANM_T a
    WHERE  a.anmid={?PARAMETER01Id}
    OUTCOME of Statement 1:
    select a.something
    from ANM_T a
    where a.anmid = 0
    OUTCOME of Statement 2:
    SELECT * from ANM_T a
    WHERE  a.anmid=9825
    In above example we may see that crystal set the value only in the second statement - first one got 0 - i suspect its some default value.
    Parameter in the Java code is set in the right way. In case of using only one statement it works. If we use two separate parameters (whose values are equal ) it also works.
    // we have also the loop over the parameters
    ParameterFieldController paramFieldController =
                    report.getDataDefController().getParameterFieldController();
    paramFieldController.setCurrentValue( "", paramName, paramValue );
    What is strange for me is that Crystal Reports enables to use the same parameter in two commands but if you edit one of them you may change the type of this parameter for a command ( for example from Number to String) but the parameter type in the second command remains unchanged ( it's strange because in my opinion it is the same parameter). In the Field Explorer under the Parameter Fields i still see one parameter of type used in the second command.

    Hello all,
    We have prepared some sample code to illustrate the issue.
    We have modified the sample application (Link: [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/c07fec3e-3e11-2c10-1991-8c0fb0b82b75]) to that it also changes the parameter value. Parameter is used in two commands saved in report.
    The code changing the parameters value looks like this:
    private static void changeParameters(ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc) throws ReportSDKException {
              DataDefController dataDefController = reportClientDoc.getDataDefController();
            Fields fields = dataDefController.getDataDefinition().getParameterFields();
            for( int i = 0; i < fields.size(); i++ ){
                Field field = (Field)fields.getField( i );
                if( field.getKind() == FieldKind.parameterField ){
                            setParameter( ((ParameterField)field).getName(), "9825" , reportClientDoc);
    private static void setParameter( String paramName, String paramValue, ReportClientDocument document ) throws ReportSDKException {
         ParameterFieldController paramFieldController =
                    document.getDataDefController().getParameterFieldController();
         paramFieldController.setCurrentValue( "", paramName, paramValue );
    We have tried the following codes to change the connection info used in commands:
    Attempt 1
              Tables tables = databaseController.getDatabase().getTables();
              //Set the datasource for all main report tables.
              for (int i = 0; i < tables.size(); i++) {
                   ITable table = tables.getTable(i);
                   //Keep existing name and alias.
                   table.setName(table.getName());
                   table.setAlias(table.getAlias());
                   //Change connection information properties.
                   IConnectionInfo connectionInfo = table.getConnectionInfo();
                   //Set new table connection property attributes.
                   connectionInfo.setAttributes(propertyBag);
                   //Set database username and password.
                   //NOTE: Even if these the username and password properties don't change when switching databases, the
                   //database password is *not* saved in the report and must be set at runtime if the database is secured.
                   connectionInfo.setUserName(DBUSERNAME);
                   connectionInfo.setPassword(DBPASSWORD);
                   connectionInfo.setKind(ConnectionInfoKind.SQL);
                   table.setConnectionInfo(connectionInfo);
                   //Update old table in the report with the new table.
                   databaseController.setTableLocation(table, tables.getTable(i));
                   //databaseController.setTableLocation(tables.getTable(i), table);
    Attempt 2
             newConnectionInfo.setAttributes(propertyBag);
             connectionInfo.setUserName(DBUSERNAME);
             connectionInfo.setPassword(DBPASSWORD);
             //preserve subreport links
             SubreportController src = doc.getSubreportController();
             Map<String, SubreportLinks> linkMapper = new HashMap<String,SubreportLinks>();
             for(String subreportName : src.getSubreportNames()){
                 linkMapper.put(subreportName,
                     (SubreportLinks) src.getSubreportLinks(subreportName).clone(true));
             //If this connection needed parameters, we would use this field.
             Fields<IParameterField> pFields = doc.getDataDefController().getDataDefinition().getParameterFields();
             replaceConnectionInfos(doc.getDatabaseController(), newConnectionInfo, pFields);
             IStrings strs = src.getSubreportNames();
             Iterator<String> it = strs.iterator();
             while (it.hasNext()) {
               String name = it.next();
               ISubreportClientDocument subreport = src.getSubreport(name);
               pFields = subreport.getDataDefController().getDataDefinition().getParameterFields();
               replaceConnectionInfos(subreport.getDatabaseController(), newConnectionInfo, pFields);
             //reconnect subreport links since when using replaceConnection links are erased
             for(String subreportName : src.getSubreportNames())
               src.setSubreportLinks(subreportName, linkMapper.get(subreportName));
    private static void replaceConnectionInfos(DatabaseController aDc, IConnectionInfo aNewConnInfo, Fields<IParameterField> aParameterField) throws ReportSDKException {
             ConnectionInfos cis = aDc.getConnectionInfos(null);
             for (IConnectionInfo oldConnInfo : cis)
               aDc.replaceConnection(oldConnInfo, aNewConnInfo, aParameterField, DBOptions._useDefault
                   + DBOptions._doNotVerifyDB);
    In both cases, the observed problem occurred. In one query the parameter was set properly, while on the other it was set to 0 (or empty string in case of string parameters). What is more, no data appeared on the print.
    Do you happen to know the reason of this issue?How can we fix the problem?

  • Custom Report Erroring when using All as parameter

    Hi All,
    I am facing a problem in running custom report.
    => DB Server Info
    RDBMS : 11.2.0.2.0
    Oracle Applications : 12.1.3
    I am getting following error.
    REP-1401: 'afterpform': Fatal PL/SQL error occurred.
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error
    custom report two parameters one is date parameter and name parameter
    date parameter is using as fnd_date.canonical_to_date(:P_EFFECTIVE_DATE) in queries.
    if I give name parameter for individual, then it works fine.
    if I give name parameter as "All", then its erroring. I tried it in my best way, but its not working.
    variable data length increased though its not working, can any one help me on this please....
    Here is the Afterpform code
    function AfterPForm return boolean is
    lName VARCHAR2(5000); -- its changed from lName varchar2(50);
    begin
    IF :P_NAME <> 'All' THEN
    lName:= 'AND name =:P_NAME';
    ELSE
    lName:='AND name in                                                             (select name from <******>
              order by name
    END IF;
    :P_Where_Clause := lName;
    return (TRUE);

    Thanks for all your help so far.

    excuse i understood that you use All as parameter name
    ORA 6502 is when you assign a char to a number or when assign a value which length is greater than the variable length
    what's the dimension of p_where_clause for example?
    you can trace with srw.message
    --- <Code>
    function AfterPForm return boolean is
    lName VARCHAR2(5000); -- its changed from lName varchar2(50);
    begin
    srw.message(1,'step 1');
    IF :P_NAME = 'All' THEN
    srw.message(2,'step 2');
    lName:='AND name in (select name from <table>
    order by name
    srw.message(3,'step 3');
    ELSE
    srw.message(4,'step 4');
    lName:= 'AND name =:P_NAME';
    srw.message(5,'step 5');
    END IF;
    srw.message(6,'step 6');
    :P_Where_Clause := lName;
    srw.message(7,'step 7');
    return (TRUE);
    end;
    ---</Code>
    i think your query is not good
    for example
    lName:= 'AND name =:P_NAME';
    when instance the query the query search this condition but no use the value of p_name parameter
    write
    lName:= 'AND name = '||''''||:P_NAME||''''; then :p_name take the value

    Hi frnz,
    I have a table site contains one filed SiteCode
    Now i have fields like below using the below quries
    SThe above are the two results sets coming from the single table ,now i will use these two results /Query in my ssrs Casecade report
    1.First result set/Query will use for the first dataset and use these values in the paramet1 selection as PrimaryCodes
    2.Second result set/Query will use for the second Dataset and use these values in the parameter2 as SecondayCodes
    3.Using these two datsets and create a Casecadeing paramet in ssrs report.
    4.so using this information how can i create the Casecade report ,I have tried different ways but i didnt get the soluction
    I have done the follw but ididnt get the o/p.
    I have created two parameter and mapped to the results but while paramter selection i will able to see only the first paramet(PrimaryCodes) ,and i will not see the second paramter(SecondaryCodes) it could not show me the second paramter values in the drop

  • In Drill through report pass hyperlink value as parameter to another report using ssrs 2008 R2

    Hi All,
    I have one drill through SSRS report in which if I click one hyperlink in the summmary report it should be passed as parameter for detail report, like this....
    Summary:
    AccountType
    A1
    A2
    If I click A1 then that should be passed as parameter to detail report and display A1 data in detail report
    If I click A2 then that should be passed as parameter to detail report and display A2 data in detail report.
    Please give me some ideas or expression code to achieve this in using SSRS 2008R2. Its very urgent.
    Thanks,

    Thanks the folowing is my source data for the parameter I am including to the drill through
    SELECT DISTINCT
    case
    when EA_STATUS in ('E4', 'U4', 'P5', '02', '03', '04','B2','B3','B4','12')
    then CAST('Project' AS VARCHAR(15))
    else CAST('Non-Project' AS VARCHAR(15))
    end as EA_PROJECT_GROUP_DESC
    FROM TEAMS.FMPROD_V_EA
    As you can see it has only 2 values.So how do you suggest I wirte the expression to include in the report.
    The name of the parameter I will be using is EAProjectGroup.but below is the error I am getting trying to run the report
    rsMissingFieldInDataSet] The dataset Trends contains a definition for the Field EA_PROJECT_GROUP_DESC. This field is missing from the returned result set from the data source.
    [rsErrorReadingDataSetField] The dataset Trends contains a definition for the Field EA_PROJECT_GROUP_DESC. The data extension returned an error during reading the field. There is no data for the field at position 45.
    Preview complete -- 0 errors, 72 warnings
    what does the position 45 mean?

  • How to get the list of parameter and set them using RESTFul WS for a Crystal Report

    Hi All,
    I am able to schedule a Crystal report using following POST Restful call - http://localhost:6405/biprws/infostore/4738/scheduleForms/now and with a request xml body. But report is failing because I am not passing the parameter.
    But I need pass parameters/prompts to the Crystal report to execute successfully.
    What is the request XML to pass the parameter  for the report?
    I was able to do this for WEBI reports but I am not able to find any way to do this for Crystal reports?
    Any help on this matter is really appreciated.

  • Parameter weirdness: Report not using user selected parameter value

    I am writing my first report and cannot for the life of me figure out how to deal with this issue.
    When I call a report and pass the parameters in, it appears that the user cannot then change the parameter values and run the report again even though the parameters are displayed. When user hits run report, the values revert to what was passed in by original
    call.
    Scenario
    Report B has Parameter Period : Month, Quarter, Year displayed in a drop down list.
    Report A calls Report B and passes it the parameter: Quarter.
    Report B loads. User now changes parameter to Year via the drop down parameter list and hits Run Report.
    Instead of loading the report with user selected value (Year), it reverts back to the parameter it was called with, Quarter.
    I have tried changing the refresh option on the parameter to always, but no joy.
    The only way that seems to work is to put textboxes on the report to change the parameter.
    How can I stop this behaviour, and use the users new selection.
    This should be really straight forward, and its driving me nuts that its not allowing the user to change the parameters
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks Jon

    Hi Jon,
    Did you use SSRS 2012? Based on my test, the issue is occurred in SSRS 2012 Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS). When we deploy the report to report server, it will disappear.
    In this situation, we can add another duplicate parameter to work around this issue. Please add two parameters in the report, and then hide one of the parameter. We can pass the parameter value to the hide parameter. If we want to select other values, we
    can change the visible parameter values.
    Alternatively, I recommend you that submit this suggestion at
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/. If the suggestion mentioned by customers for many times, the product team may consider to add the feature in the next SQL Server version. Your feedback is valuable for us to improve our products and increase the
    level of service provided.
