Using an iPad charger for a 2nd gen iPod touch

I have a 12W usb power adapter for an iPad and was wondering if you can use it to charge an iPod touch 2nd gen. Does this have a negative effect on the iPod touch?

None at all. Apple says it is acceptable and I use it for all my devices, including the small 7G iPod Nano

I got a usb charger for my 4th gen Ipod touch that at first allowed my to charge and transfer music from my laptop to the Ipod now nothing happens when I plug the usb cord and Ipod into my laptop. Its mac so it is an apple system. I am wondering how I can fix this problem I am not very good with techy stuff so this is very confusing how it was working and it just stopped.

    Hi johnsmiff99,
That is never fun when your iPod touch does not show up on your Mac. Take a look at the article below to walk you through on getting it to show back up on your iTunes. It is very easy to read so you wont feel overwhelmed with to much techy jargon. Let me know if you get this worked out.

There are countless apps besides to read pdf, most probably better than ibooks, just search on that term in the app store.  GoodReader is a popular one.

  • Can we PLEASE get a separate board for the 2nd Gen iPod touch already????

As if I'm not already having trouble figuring out if people are talking about the new or old one.

Probably a good idea, but since software state probably makes a bigger difference the most important thing is that people fill in their specs in the My Settings page to assists others who post on the same thread.

  • How do I get the 4.3.2 software update for my 2nd gen iPod touch

    How do I get it?

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device.
The iPhone 3G and second generation iPod touch can’t be updated past 4.2.1.

is there a way to get older versions of apps - for a 2nd gen ipod touch with ios 4.2.1

The only way is to jailbreak and download cracked apps, but I would recommend you wouldn't do that as this is piracy and jailbreaking is illegal in some countries.

The Tango app might be of some help with that:

  • Is it ok to use my ipad charger for my iphone4?

is it ok to use my ipad charger for my iphone4?

Yes, but not the other way around. The iPad charger presents more current, which the iPad needs. It is plenty of current for the iPhone or iPod. (Don't worry, the device will only take the current needed, you won't burn it up or anything!)
The smaller chargers provided with the iPhone and some iPods do not have enough current for the iPad.
If you have both devices then it is best to get an extra iPad charger or 2 and then you can use it on any of your devices.

Using an iPad charger will not hurt your phone or the SIM. Contact your carrier for a new SIM.

  • Can i use new ipad charger for ipad 2 and vise versa

I have ipad 2 and i bought new ipad for my dad. Both ipads charge quickly with ipad2 charger as compare to new ipad charger.
So, my question is.. Is it okay to use new ipad charger for ipad 2 and vise versa...???

The iPad 1, iPad 2 and new iPad all use the same 10W charger.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. When i use my iPad charger for my iPhone, iPhone Is damaged?

it is highly unlikely that an iPad charger can cause damage to an iPhone - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4327. I have personally charged my 3GS with an iPad charger many times without any problem.

  • 2nd Gen iPod Touch Doesn't Charge at all

2nd Gen iPod Touch Doesn't Charge at all, not on pc or mac or wall or anywhere. I need the information on it, last time it was backed up was 2 years ago, cracked glass and bad headphone jack. can Apple help me get my info out of it? it is out of warranty, can i pay to have it fully recovered as if it never died?

Try connecting it for a charging source for 24 hours.
    Then try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then see if iTunes can see the iPod so you can get info from it
    - Inspect the dock connector for bend or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store. They may or may not be able to get info from the iPod. It depends upon what is wrong

  • Is there any type of HiFi Station available for the 2nd Gen. iPod shuffle?

I was wondering if there is any type of HiFi Station available for the 2nd Gen. iPod shuffle.
With HiFi Station I mean those docking stations which directly play the music from your iPod, so that you don´t need to connect to your Computer f.e.
Does anybody know if something like this exist, or if it is only available for ALL other iPod models???
    Thanks already!
    Stefan

YOu can use one of these with any other iPod "HiFi Station": http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/dockshuffle/
Use your 2nd generation iPod shuffle in full-size Universal Dock devices.
Your iPod shuffle is an incredible entertainment value in an incredibly small package. It delivers the music just like its full-size iPod cousins. But one thing it doesn't do is fit in the dock well in your made-for-iPod speaker system.
That's why we made a Dock Adapter especially for 2nd generation iPod shuffle. The Dock Adapter is shaped just like the dock connector on the bottom of every full-size iPod. Plug it into your iPod shuffle's headphone jack, and suddenly the little guy fits in your iPod speakers just like the big guys.
Take Griffin Dock Adapter with you, and you can play your iPod shuffle wherever there's a set of Universal Dock speakers.

  • 2nd gen iPod touch - do I need to use Google calendar now?

I've updated my Mac to OSX 10.7.2 but I've not upgraded to iCloud, because I have a 2nd gen iPod touch.
As I've read Apple has not including calendars support for these, do I need to use Google calendar now?
I had Mac's for 15 years and even subscribed to MobileMe
If they're dumping my 2 year old bit of kit it's a poor show, I will keep it going as it still does a job for me, it's a shame I'll may have to move away from apple and I guess iTunes too.

That I know I've read that but unless someone comes up with a work around, before then, I'll move to google or yahoo calendars.
I'm Mac through and through, a total fan but like alot of people these day I'm having to cut back, yes it's nice I'm not paying the mobileme sub anymore but I can't justify buying a new ipod or stretching to an iphone.
Maybe I having to grow away from Apple.
