Using Autosys For Scheduling

Is anyone using OWB and Autosys to schedule jobs? If so did you still need to have a runtime repository? What I was thinking of doing is have OWB create the code and manually deploy and the use Autosys to schedule our jobs.

Igor, Thanks for the response. What do you mean by participating in the OWB-Autosys integration?
What's involved with that?
Would you still need to use the runtime component?
What did you mean that my manual deployment was probably the way to go? What I did was generate code from the mapping. I then copied the code from the code viewer and compiled it in the database. It seemed to work but I'm having a problem trying to execute it.
My mapping took a table and split it into two tables. The package consisted of of three functions. One for the insert into each of the two table. It also created a "Main" function that then just called the two fucntions. I've tried executing "Main" and I get:
ORA-04068: existing state of packages has been discarded
ORA-04067: not executed, package body "HIEBLERT.CLIENT_MAP" does not exist
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called
ORA-06512: at line 7
Here's the code to execute it:
declare
     did_it_work      number;
begin
     did_it_work := hieblert.CLIENT_MAP.MAIN;
end;
Any ideas? I can send you the package code if you like. Thanks.

  • Anyone using OEM for scheduling backups?

I'd like to see a poll for the number of users using OEM for taking database backups. Had some interesting conversations with some colleagues via social media and it seems like some DBAs don't trust OEM for their backups even though the feature works IMO.
Are you using OEM to do backups?
Edited by: DBA on May 3, 2012 1:02 PM

I have 91 scheduled recurring backup jobs running through OEM 12c BP1. They work quite well. I've only noticed a few problems and nitpicks:
    1) Occasionally, for unknown reasons, a backup job against a newly-added database target will fail stating that the backup cannot be run since the database is closed. The database is not closed, it's up and running fine. Changing the backup job to run using SYS as SYSDBA credentials resolves this problem.
    2) Identification of failed backups is not as customizable as I would like. For example, if I have a full "backup database plus archivelog" running, and during the course of that backup an archivelog backup runs and deletes archived logs, OEM will report that the backup job has failed since RMAN throws an error about not being able to backup an archivelog it expected to find. I dealt with this by adding SKIP INACCESSIBLE to the backup statement. I'm not totally comfortable about that but I monitor for offline datafiles so I consider this only a minimal risk. Our custom backup scripts used to catch this warning and ignore it.
    3) It's really annoying that, after creating a backup job through the target Availability -> Schedule Backup tool, I cannot then run a 'Create Like' against that backup job to create a nearly identical one against a different database target. You have to schedule each of them from the Schedule Backup tool. Clicky clicky clicky clicky.
    4) A backup job created through the 'Schedule Backup' tool has a job type of 'Database Backup', therefore when the job fails a high-availability incident is created, so you can configure incident rules to receive notification of this event. This is good. Unfortunately a backup job created from the Jobs page has a job type of 'RMAN Script' does NOT create an incident on job failure out of the box. I've had difficulty configuring incident rules to catch failures for RMAN Script job types. This is not good.
    5) The repeating schedule options for jobs are limited compared even to something like cron. I can schedule a job for a day of the week, or a day of the month, but cannot easily schedule a job for "the first Tuesday of each month". This can be worked around.
    6) After creating and submitting a backup job through the Schedule Backup tool, you cannot edit the RMAN script without recreating the job. You can only edit the RMAN script before submitting the job. I deal with this by having my backups run stored scripts in the recovery catalog, and make the changes there if I need to change something.
    7) It is very annoying that if I 'stop' a repeating job (instead of suspend), there is no way to resume that job. It has to be recreated. This is my own user error -- I just don't click the stop button. Not OEM's fault but I'd rather not even have that button.
    8) No ability to sequence jobs. You can sequence steps within a job, but then the entire job succeeds or fails as a unit. If you want to back up database A then immediately back up database B afterwards, you have to create a multi-task job. The multi-task job has the same problem as item #4 above such that it does not create a "backup failed" incident when the backup fails.
Even with all of these gripes, I am quite pleased with the backups I have running through OEM.

  • Using Automator for scheduled tasks for my media folder.

Anyone with automator experience that are able to help me set up a scheduled task for my media folder, using for example iCal?
I have 2 programs for cleaning and adding metadata for my media folder:
    iFlicks and iDentify.
And I want them to scheduled clean new files in my folder. iFlicks first, and iDentify next.
    Complicated? Doable?

If you are not too keen on running those commands you might want to try http://www.igetter.net/iGetter.html This download manager seems to allow the scheduled downloading that you need. I think you would have to go to the Apple site and find the url for the standalone updaters to find the link after Software Update identifies them. Then use this program to schedule the downloads. Sometimes those seem more stable anyway.
The program us shareware. It appears from the description that the program remains fully functional but puts up a nag screen if the program has not been registered.

  • Observation when Using Alerts for Scheduled Activites

Has anyone noticed this?  A user has set the "Send Alert for Activities Scheduled for Today" option.  She noticed that some of the activites in her alert were not created nor sent to her.  However, we did find that they were follow-up activites to ones that she had sent out previously.
I conclude that the alert gathers activites that were not only created by or assigned to the user, but also keeps them in the loop for activity threads they may have been a part of.  Is this true?
This is the first instance anyone has noticed this occurance.
    Thanks for the imput!

    Hi Emily,
I am not sure what localization has this option as yours. From the title "Send Alert for Activities Scheduled for Today", it should not imply this alert shall only apply to current user though.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Inbound Delivery For Scheduling Agreement Lines using LSMW

    Hi,
We need to create inbound deliveries for scheduling agreements. Our scheduling Agreements are too big with 200 lines. But the vendor used to send only few discrete lines in his ASN. Is it possible to create inbound deliveries for the Scheduling agreement using LSMW? Is there any standard BAPI or IDOC available to handle this in LSMW? Has anyone done this before?
    Our requirement is as follows.
    1. Create Inbound Delivery for few lines of the Scheduling Agreement
    2. The delivery quantity of the inbound delivery will be a partial quantity of the Scheduling Agreement
    3. Materials are batch managed and the batch number for each inbound delivery item need to be captured.
    4. Vendor's ASN Number and its item number need to be captured at inbound delivery header and item level respectively.
Note: Delivery Schedule of the Scheduling Agreement is not used in the above scenario.
If you have any input, it will be really appreciated.
    Regards,
    SP0526

    Hi,
You can give your scheduling agreement number in the field Purchase Order.
If you want select from the list, you can click on PO tree (just under create inbound delivery). There selet document category as "L". You will get the scheduling agreement list.
    Regards,
    Prabu

  • Can I use DB13C for central backup scheduling of MaxDB and Oracle databases

    Hello,
we have installed Solution Manager 7.0 on Windows with MaxDB. We want to use DB13C to schedule and Monitor our database backups. We have 8 systems with Oracle Database and 7 systems with MaxDB database, 1 DB2 and 1 MS-SQL Server . Due to QAS issues we can´t migrate to one database system. Is there a possibility to handle all database systems from our Solution Manager ?
    Thank you
    Heiko

You can use DBACOCKPIT for that purpose. Import the systems from the SLD.

  • LSMW using IDOC method for scheduling agreement

I am using LSMW IDOC method to create Scheduling agreement. i am using message type : PURSAG_CREATE. I have completed the field mapping and when i tried to process the idoc i am getting the following error.
No instance of object type PurchSchedAgreement has been created. External reference: # 1
There are no clue why this error is popping up.
please let me know if anyone faced similar issues.

Are you using external number range for scheduling agreement, then you have to pass the SA number too if not then check with your MM functional consultant to change the number range from external to internal provided it is agreed by your customer

  • Using the Bursting engine for scheduling the Reports

    Hi,
Can we use the Bursting Engine for scheduling the reports? For example I want to run a report in a scheduled time and send the mail to destination. We can do these things in the XML Publisher console. But we need to find any other way to schedule a report.
    Thx,
    Vijay.

I am looking for the same thing.
I believe the APIs are entirely separate from the functionality in the BIP web application. So that there is no way to programmatically initiate the scheduling of a report/template already defined in the UI via a command line or API call. Is this accurate?
I sort of expected the APIs to have functionality that exposed the features of the web application, as opposed to just exposing the base functionality/engine of BIP.

  • Use of NOSCL(Counter for scheduling lines) in 02LIS_02_SCL

    Hi,
I want to extract PO value from 02LIS_02_SCL in BW. The value which I get in PSA table is +ve and -ve. I am boserving the sum value for any PO is zero.
I wanted to know what is the use of NOSCL(Counter for scheduling lines) in 02LIS_02_SCL? I can observe that PO value corresponding to NOSCL =1 is +ve, i.e. I am getting all the +ve value in order for which NOSCL = 1. The positive PO value is as per R3 data.
    Thanks in advance

    Dear SDBI,
    Thanks for reply.
I checked for rejection indicator. Again for every positive value there is negative value and for every negative value, its marked with rejection status. So when value for any  particular value is summed up, we get result value as zero.
    I need following information:
    1. Is it possible for every every positive PO value, there is negative value?
    2. How to reconcile the data in PSA of 2LIS_02_SCL with R3 tables?
    Thanks again.
    Jaydeep.

  • Can I use Webservices SDK for scheduling Reports?

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to use Webservices SDK. The process flow is explained as below:-
PeopleSoft calls Java component which schedules the BO Reports by calling BO program Objects. I was using BOE SDK before. But SAP advised to move to Webservices SDK as to remove CORBA connection issues.
Can I use Webservices SDK for scheduling Reports?
    Please update.
    Thanks,
    Anu

Its possible to schedule reports from web services SDK. Its stated in the Web services SDK Doc.

  • Can we use own customise calender for scheduling the Reports

    Hi,
We are using different calender for the business and hence our number of weeks in each month differs. For e.g. we have 6 weeks for Jan and Dec where as 4 weeks for rest of the months.
In this scenario, we want to schedule reports after Period (month for our calender) close.
Suppose we want to schedule report after 3rd day of period close. So, our Jan period will close somewhere in mid Feb (6 weeks of Jan), i.e. 15 Feb. In this scenario, reports should get generated on 18th Feb.
For leap year we will have 7 weeks in Jan, rest same.
    How can we achieve this?
    Regards,
    Arjun Kushwaha

    Hi,
yes you can create your own Calender for scheduling Reports. Just Log- in into the CMC and click on "Calendar". By creating a new Calendar you can mark the Dates where the Report should run.
    Regards
    -Seb.

  • Autosys job scheduler on windows environment ,can oracle support?

    Hi,
Intially i am used dbms_scheduler to schedule pl/sql jobs that's working fine,But according to client standards
need to schedule pl/sql jobs using autosys to run on windows, Can Oracle 11g support autosys to schedule pl/sql
jobs run on windows environment(version 5), If so what package oracle package will be used ? How to schedule,
    provide me some documentation please.
    Thanks in Advance
    Ganesh

Dbms_scheduler is a much much much more mature product than any thid party tool.
Also, why schedule PL/SQL outside the database (likely exposing passwords) when it can be done inside the database (without exposing password)
Please ask the client why they want by this 'requirement' to stick to obsolete technology.
They pay for dbms_scheduler, and they don't need autosys
(and yes, I consulted autosys documentation for free on your behalf)
Other than that: your request to provide autosys documentation in an Oracle forum must be judged inappriopriate and points to refusal to do your own research.
