Using catalyst to create a Badge installer ?

Hey,
I am trying to create badge for an AIR project and would like to be using catalyst to do it, I have the AIR SDK and the Flex 4 SDK, both have samples of this, but it uses a FLA file, I would like to create the SWF in catalyst, which i have done, only I am not sure how I can hook it up to the rest of the badge installer ...
like, how do I ... insert the AIRBadge.as into the fxp? configure the guy? etc. ? I basically understand how it all works, the html, js, etc.  but I don't know how to get it to work properly ...
please could you provide a little guidance ...
Thanks so much

Hi Peter,
What I am trying to do is create a custom badge using Catalyst and Builder ... my main reason for wanting to use catalyst to do this is to improve production times when generating many of these, it is part of a larger research project into the viability of using Catalyst in production so it is something that I would like to get right ... so what I have is number of example and tutorial badges that I can get working, but I need to theme/customise them in Flash Pro to make them work properly (not what I want to do) ... what I have done is create the art in illustrator and then in Catalyst is set up mouse-overs, button states, etc. ...
what I am battling with is hooking up the fxp to some AS to get it actually work ... any help here would be great ...
Thanks

  • Is there a way I can use Catalyst to create my custom flex components but make compatible with 3.5

I am new to Catalyst and looking for a way to create components in Catalyst to be compatible with an existing application created in SDK 3.5.
I am working on a project for a client to reskin an existing flex application done in SDK 3.5, but they are not ready to migrate yet to SDK 4.0.
I really want ot use Catalyst to create some custom components for the new style of this existing application, but the problem is the that the spark component architecture and the old version 3.5 are not compatible. Is there a way around this until they are ready to migrate to 4.0 or will I have to create my components in flash and bring them into flashbuilder with a swc this way instead? What would be the best approach for me at this point, please help?

No. Flash Catalyst leverages the new component framework that was introduced in 4.0 (aka Spark). Flex 3.5 and earlier used a framework (referred to as MX or Halo). That framework is incompatible with Flash Catalyst.

  • Created CS5.5 Installer (with AAMEE) wont install Adobe Acrobat X

    Hi,
since two days I am "fighting" with the new Design Std CS5.5.
I downloaded it from our Adobe licensing portal and unpacked the zip-File.
Like the CS5.0 before I used AAMEE to create a silent installation. But whatever I do there, it wont install the Adobe Acrobat X. I can see it in AAMEE while creating, and when it is finished it also shows the symbol there, and that everything is fine.
I tried without updates, and I even tried a 32-bit installer - but with that, it installs the Suite and after 20 minutes (or so) of installation, everything is removed again.
I really dont know whats going on, since all other adobe products were always working fine with AAMEE. I even upgraded to the newest version, but nothing helps.
    Any ideas here?
    Nina

When you package from AAMEE then there are twop folder craeted ,
    1) Builds
    2) Extension
Builds folder have the MSI file to install teh suite however the acobat is not included in it , the acrobat MSI for installation is included in the extensions folder.
Now , once you have the MSI for acrobat , tere is a specific command to run the Acrobat installation , it is not the same as of the Suite,
The command is present in the text info file in the extensions folder , the last few lines will be the command . you need to replace acropro.msi in teh command with the location of the MSI actually present.
Are following the same method to install Acrobat i.e running the command seperatly?

  • Using Flash Catalyst to create a portfolio gallery... Problems

I'm using Fc to create a portfolio site, yet have been struggling with creating a gallery that shows the way I want it to. I've tried to streamline the process using states and substates, as several people have suggested to others, yet I'm having a difficult time figuring out exactly how to transition to these states without having the content from another state show, or really finding the best method to achieve the desired result. Given that I'm pretty new to Catalyst, a detailed solution would be very appreciated!
edit... Also, I do not wish to use a data list, because I don't want even rows and columns for each set of photos.

  • Creating a silent installer using CVIRTE.msi fails to install CVIRTE.dll, MESA.dll etc.

I’m creating a silent installer for my LabWINDOWS CVI apps and I’m installing LabVIEW RTE 8.2.1 (for DataSockets) and CVI RTE 8.0.1.
If I use the self extracting *.zip files and manually install the above RTE’s everything is fine with no problems.  However I want to create an installer exe and install the RTE’s silently.  My problem is that when I execute the CVIRTE.msi (either silently or manually) the respective CVIRTE.dll, MESA.dll etc are not installed.
I’m expecting the CVI *.dll’s to be in the system dir – is this output path correct for the msi file?
I’ve also searched the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\... for the dll’s to no avail?
I’m I missing some other CVI msi file to execute in order to install the respecting dll’s?
    Notes:
I’m executing the msi file on a XP pro SP2 machine with Administrative rights.
I haven’t got around to installing and testing the lv82runtime.msi yet (LabVIEW RTE 8.2.1), which I need for DataSockets.  Can you pre-empt any issues, like the above, I may have regarding any respective dll’s etc for DataSockets?

Sorry I posted it in the wrong forum - now also in LabWINDOWS/CVI

  • Possilbe to create only mxml component using Catalyst ?

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but is it possible to only create an mxml component using Catalyst and not an entire Flex Project (fxp)? There are areas where I would like to use this tool to simply creation of components, but also I might like to write the main app in Flash Builder and just wondering if this is possible?

    Hi Jeremy,
Yes, it's definitely possible, though it's not immediately obvious. There's another thread on this subject here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/447199?tstart=0
One trick that came up was that you can take the entire contents of your project in Catalyst and convert it to a custom component--that simply moves all the content into a separate non-application MXML component file, which you can then import into Builder and use in your Builder project.
    THanks,

  • Hooking up the Badge installer ?

    Hey,
I am trying to hook up a catalyst fxp to the Adobe Badge installer, and I am having problems ... Basically I don't know enough about Flex to get this right ... I have got the .js and html all correct and can get it working when I use the example from the AIR SDK, but I would like to be able to create the swf content in catalyst, as this would make production of these so much easier and quicker ... basically, I think my problem is in hooking the .as up to the fxp ... I have post this catalyst forum and the AIR forum, but still waiting for some feedback ... please could someone help me out here ...
    Thanks

    Hi D,
It sounds like you're connected to the S-Video out port on your PB, and an RCA in port on the TV. Assuming you're using the S-Video to RCA adapter that came with your PB (or another appropriate adapter), all you have to do is connect (as it sounds like you have done), both units need to be powered up, go to System Preferences:Displays, click on Detect Displays, select the TV if it doesn't do it automatically, go to the Resolutions window and select whatever resolution is required for your TV (note that there are both NTSC and PAL; if you're not sure which you need, try both, you aren't going to hurt anything), and select the input you've chosen on the TV (on my TVs with multiple inputs, it looks like the front input is #2, but try them all until you get the image from your PB). Enjoy the show.

For the last 5 years (and in IPCC3.x/4.x,UCCX/5.x/7.x) I've used the same basic subflow to read a XML document that contains holiday dates where the queue should be closed.  I've re-used this script on 20+ client installs and it's always worked.  The structure of the script allows you to pass the path and filename of the XML document as parameters to the subflow. (The document is in the repository)
I loaded this script in UCCX 8.0.2 recently and it crashed with a Java.IO error.  It looked like it was trying to read the file system directly and not the repository. (In the Linux appliance model this kind of makes sense but why is the step trying to read the file system directly?)
So I open a TAC case (SR# 615243125) and TAC tells me that the method of using the Create File Document step is not supported anymore and that I should specify the filename directly in the Create XML Document step
The problem that I see (aside from having to edit all my scripts that use XML files) is that the Create XML Document step is looking for the input to be a type DOCUMENT and not a type STRING.  This seems to imply that I have to hardcode the document in each script that I deploy for a customer.  When it was a string it was easy to construct the full file path from parameters and pass to the subflow.
    Questions to the group
#1 Am I missing something here?
#2  Do you assume that you'll be able to load a script that worked fine in UCCX 7 into UCCX 8 and that it should completely function when you're doing everything according to the step reference documentation.

#4 How can you use the Create XML Document step in a fashion that would let you construct the path of the file and the filename previously in the script so you could pass it to a subflow ?  It would seem this functionality has been killed in UCCX 8

#1 Am I missing something here?
You are mixing two different issues together here.
The Create File Document step is indeed not needed or supported for creating an XML document. That is why there is a unique step; to trigger XML parsing within the MIVR subsystem.
Accessing the file system is restricted to a single folder within the VOS model (i.e. 8.0+). This folder is not backed up, replicated, or cleaned up automatically. It was intended to give developers some FS access as a temporary swap location only.
#2  Do you assume that you'll be able to load a script that
worked fine in UCCX 7 into UCCX 8 and that it should completely
function when you're doing everything according to the step reference
    documentation.
Assume nothing; read the documentation and attend one of the dozens of partner training sessions that CCBU put on advising of the upcoming changes.
#3 Cisco didn’t document this in any way that I can find.
You're right, I guess, on the Create File vs. XML Document step. AFAIK Cisco never wrote a notice into the Step Reference Guide explicitly stating that you cannot use the Create File Document although the documentation seemed pretty clear to me without it. File system restrictions are documented in the 8.0 release notes.
Scripting and Development Series: Volume 2, Editor Step ReferenceUse the Create XML Document step to create a logical document that maps a document to another document variable (where the document has already been pre-parsed as an XML document and is ready to be accessed by the Get XML Document Data step).Use this step before the Get XML Document Data step to obtain data from a document formatted using the Extensible Markup Language (XML).
#4 How can you use the Create XML Document step in a fashion that would
let you construct the path of the file and the filename previously in
the script so you could pass it to a subflow ?  It would seem this functionality has been killed in UCCX 8
No it hasn't; just concatinate a string to build the Source Document parameter the step needs. Example:  "DOC[" + myFilePath + "]"

Using the Air installer feature of the Air App Badge installer from http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/articles/air_badge_install.html

seems to be still functional in firefox windows xp and osx snow leopard 10.6.3
To reproduce. without having air installed on your windows7 or osx leopard machine, go to http://www.tweetdeck.com/desktop/ and click on the "Download" button to begin air install. the "Yes" and "No" buttons are unresponsive. Air will fail to install.

    Hi,
I want to create an single installer by including my Application and DSC RTL, So by using this i will give an single installer to my clients where they dont have any Lab VIEW components. Even though i seen some similar post, but its doesnt give me a proper solution for this. Please do the needfull.
     With Regards,

    Hi Vijay,
I think, there is no seperate RTL for DSC (for that matter, for any of other NI addons/toolkits) to be included in the installer.
You need to select the appropriate installer from the Additional Installers category while creating the installer.

  • When creating an application installer in LV, what run-time engine or driver must be installed to install the VISA interactive control?

I've created an application installer using LabVIEW's application builder and use it to install NI MAX.  However, after running the installer, the VISA interactive control is disabled in NI MAX.
    The installer installs the following NI components:  NI LabVIEW Run-Time 2014 SP-1(64-bit), NI LabWindows/CVI Shared Run-Time Engine 2013 SP2, NI Measurement & Automation Explorer 14.5, NI-488.2 Application Development Support (includes run-time), NI-VISA Configuration Support 14.0.1, NI-VISA Runtime 14.0.1, NI-VISA Server 14.0, NI Systems Configuration Runtime 14.5.0, vision run-time, dc-power run-time.
If I download and run the 488.2 installer, the VISA interactive control is enabled in NI MAX.  But, the installer created with the application builder does not seem to install the necessary components.
What needs to be added to the installer to enable  the VISA interactive control (VISAIC)?
    Thanks.

From Pedro Munoz, Applications Engineer, National Instruments
Sorry for the confusion with the forum post that Jon sent you. I did some research on our internal database and I found out the component will not be installed by any of the components added from the additional installers section on the configuration of the installer. As you have already found out you need to install the full installer in order to enable this feature.
I know that this might be an inconvenient for you because you wanted to have one installer to run. On this case may I suggest using the NI Batch Installer Builder.
The NI Batch Installer Builder allows building installers that contain National Instruments software from several products. That way you can create an installer for you application in LabVIEW (and not include the drivers in the additional installer section), then use NI Batch Installer Builder to include the installer for your application and the full version of the drivers that you mentioned.
    Here is the download link:

And in here you can find instructions on how to get started with it:

  • What is the password for 'oracle' user created during XE installation?

    Hi,
What is the password for 'oracle' user automatically created when XE is installed?
I installed XE on Linux and it's created under 'oracle' user, but I don't know 'oracle' password. So, I cannot stop TNS listener.
During configuration, it prompted me to enter SYS and SYSADMIN password but it didn't ask me to enter 'oracle' user password.
Please let me know or point me to the document.
    Thanks,
    N

    Hi Jari,
I tried your suggestion, but it didn't work unfortunately.
When I type (sudo su -oracle) as follows, it still prompts the password. When I hit Enter key w/o anything, it seems to proceed and the prompt shows up in the following line. So, I thought it was successful, but when I checked 'whoami', it's not logged in as 'oracle'.
So, I created the password for 'oracle' and logged in as 'oracle' using a new password. Then, I stopped TNS listener to uninstall XE.
It would be nice if it's documented in XE document somewhere... since it's created by XE installation, I assumed some kind of default password was used.
    Thanks,
    N

  • Can't install Adobe AIR from badge installer on Windows after AIR 3.3 updated

On Windows, the badge downloard won't install AIR. When the badge is clicked, it pops up a confirmation dialog to install Adobe AIR. When you click on "yes" button, progress bar indicate Adobe AIR is being installed but when the progress bar is complete, it doesn't do anything. If you click on the badge again, same thing is repeated.
It doesn't look like it's isolated to my app. I've tried to download few other AIR app through badge installer and they all failed.
This behavior seems to line with the Flash 11.3 and AIR 3.3 roll out.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening and if there's any workaround around it?

What browser and OS are you using?  Can you share this badge page with us so I can try it out?  Finally, could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com?  Please post back with the URL so that others affected can add their comments and votes.
