Using CDATA in Script (XML)

Hello,
I'm trying to create an XML var using CDATA to get some htmlText.
Sample:
<fx:Script>

var newXML:XML = XML("<node>"+ myRichTE.htmlText+" </node>")

<fx:Script>
<mx:RichTextEditor id="myRichTE" />
But i get an error on this line. (give it a try, something about an unclosed tag, can't give the exact english error message since i got french UI)
It seems that you can't use
xxxx
in Script section of an Application (in addition of the main CDATA which contains all Script), since it interprets as a real CDATA.
And I think I can't do without it to store the htmlText inside an XML node.
Any ideas ?
(maybe by "escaping" the CDATA tag ?)
Thanks a lot.

Indeed, actually, it is as simple as this :
<fx:Script>

myXMLnode = myRichTE.htmlText

<fx:Script>
<mx:RichTextEditor id="myRichTE" />
It is correctly inserted into the XML, by replacing tags with their corresponding html entities.

• Using CDATA tags in XML program and parsing to J2ME

Hi,
Can anybody tell me how to use CDATA tag in a xml file and parse it to my J2ME code. is there any sample code available for this? I want to use this CDATA tag for sending Binary data. plzzzzzzz Help....!

I think what you want is to parse a CDATA text from a xml file and let this text to execute.
Very innovative idea!
If I am right, I think you might mix some concept.
Java code need to be changed to ByteCode before pased to the JVM. Furthermore, Java ME code must be verified before downloading to your machine.
I figure that your attempt is impossible.

• Error when using CDATA in orm.xml

Hi everyone!
I am writing an application using TopLink Essentials. Something really weird is happening when I use CDATA sections in my orm.xml file to declare named queries.
I declared a named query like this in my orm.xml file:
</named-query>
<named-query name="findLatestExchangeRate">
SELECT a
FROM ExchangeRate a
WHERE
a.code = :currency AND
a.date = (SELECT MAX(b.date)
FROM ExchangeRate b
WHERE b.code = :currency AND b.date <= :before)
</query>
</named-query>
This worked like a charm.
Nonetheless, when I decided to use CDATA sections to declare the query and ovoid XML entities, somewhat like this:
<named-query name="findLatestExchangeRate">
<query>
<![CDATA[
SELECT a
FROM ExchangeRate a
WHERE
a.code = :currency AND
a.date = (SELECT MAX(b.date)
FROM ExchangeRate b
WHERE b.code = :currency AND b.date <= :before)
]]>
</query>
</named-query>
Then the weirdest thing happen. I am not even able to create the EntityManagerFactory. I get an error that says:
Exception in thread "main" Local Exception Stack:
Exception [TOPLINK-8028] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.0.1 (Build SNAPSHOT (02/01/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.EJBQLException
Exception Description: Syntax error parsing the query [findLatestExchangeRate:
], line 1, column 41: unexpected end of query.
Internal Exception: line 1:41: unexpected token: null
Does anyone has any idea of what could be going wrong here?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I tried it in EclipseLink 1.0.1 and had no problems. I would recommend filing a bug against TopLink Essentials in case there is a known work-around.
If you are using TopLink Essentials as a supported Oracle TopLink user please consider upgrading to Oracle TopLink 11g (includes EclipseLink) or if that is not possible please open a service request with Oracle support.

For the last 5 years (and in IPCC3.x/4.x,UCCX/5.x/7.x) I've used the same basic subflow to read a XML document that contains holiday dates where the queue should be closed. I've re-used this script on 20+ client installs and it's always worked. The structure of the script allows you to pass the path and filename of the XML document as parameters to the subflow. (The document is in the repository)
I loaded this script in UCCX 8.0.2 recently and it crashed with a Java.IO error. It looked like it was trying to read the file system directly and not the repository. (In the Linux appliance model this kind of makes sense but why is the step trying to read the file system directly?)
So I open a TAC case (SR# 615243125) and TAC tells me that the method of using the Create File Document step is not supported anymore and that I should specify the filename directly in the Create XML Document step
The problem that I see (aside from having to edit all my scripts that use XML files) is that the Create XML Document step is looking for the input to be a type DOCUMENT and not a type STRING. This seems to imply that I have to hardcode the document in each script that I deploy for a customer. When it was a string it was easy to construct the full file path from parameters and pass to the subflow.

The create XML document input can only be a type DOCUMENT

#1 Am I missing something here?
You are mixing two different issues together here.
The Create File Document step is indeed not needed or supported for creating an XML document. That is why there is a unique step; to trigger XML parsing within the MIVR subsystem.
Accessing the file system is restricted to a single folder within the VOS model (i.e. 8.0+). This folder is not backed up, replicated, or cleaned up automatically. It was intended to give developers some FS access as a temporary swap location only.
#2 Do you assume that you'll be able to load a script that
worked fine in UCCX 7 into UCCX 8 and that it should completely
function when you're doing everything according to the step reference
documentation.
Assume nothing; read the documentation and attend one of the dozens of partner training sessions that CCBU put on advising of the upcoming changes.
#3 Cisco didn’t document this in any way that I can find.
You're right, I guess, on the Create File vs. XML Document step. AFAIK Cisco never wrote a notice into the Step Reference Guide explicitly stating that you cannot use the Create File Document although the documentation seemed pretty clear to me without it. File system restrictions are documented in the 8.0 release notes.
Scripting and Development Series: Volume 2, Editor Step ReferenceUse the Create XML Document step to create a logical document that maps a document to another document variable (where the document has already been pre-parsed as an XML document and is ready to be accessed by the Get XML Document Data step).Use this step before the Get XML Document Data step to obtain data from a document formatted using the Extensible Markup Language (XML).
#4 How can you use the Create XML Document step in a fashion that would
let you construct the path of the file and the filename previously in
the script so you could pass it to a subflow ? It would seem this functionality has been killed in UCCX 8
No it hasn't; just concatinate a string to build the Source Document parameter the step needs. Example: "DOC[" + myFilePath + "]"

• Using Powershell to read XML

I have a weird XML doc where the data is contained in the node in placed.
An example.
<computers><computerData ip-Dir="127.0.0.1" name ="eth01"/></computers>
What I want to do is get the IP address so I can edit it later. Here is the code I am using.
$path = C:\temp\temp.xml
$xdoc = New-Object -TypeName XML
$xdoc.Load($path)
[xml]XMLConfig = Get-Content -path $path
$xdoc."computers"."computerData" | Select-Object -Property "ip-Dir"
This doesn't work though. Just gives me "ip-dir : "
Any thoughts?

You can also do this but it may fail on complex documents:
PS C:\scripts> $xml.computers.computerData
ip-Dir name
127.0.0.1 eth01
127.0.0.2 eth02
127.0.0.3 eth03
127.0.0.4 eth01
PS C:\scripts> $xml.computers.computerData.Name
eth01
eth02
eth03
eth01
PS C:\scripts> $xml.computers.computerData[2]
ip-Dir name
127.0.0.3 eth03
PS C:\scripts> $xml.computers.computerData[2].'ip-Dir'
127.0.0.3

• How to delete the members in one dimension use the maxl script

i have question that i want to delete the members in one dimension useing the maxl script, but i do not know how to do it. can the maxl delete the members in one dimension? if can, please provide an sample script, thank you so mcuh.

MaxL does not have commands to alter an outline directly, except the reset command which can delete all dimensions but not members selectively. The best you could do would be to run a rules file (import dimensions) using a file that contains the members you want to keepload rule for the dimension. As typical the warning is to test this first before you do it on a production database

• How can I use a 3rd party XML parser such as xerces with OC4J ?

Hi all tech experts,
I am using Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) and i have
installed Portal and Wireless and OracleAS Infrastructure on the same
computer.
i tried all the solutions on this thread
Use of Xerces Parser in out application with Oracle App Server 9.0.4
but still fighting.
I have also posted this query on OTN on following thread
How can I use a 3rd party XML parser such as xerces with OC4J?
but no reply....
Please help me on this issue.
Since OC4J is preconfigured to use the Oracle XML parser which is xmlparserv2.jar.
i have read the following article which states that
OC4J is preconfigured to use the Oracle XML parser. The Oracle XML parser is fully JAXP 1.1 compatible and will serve the needs of applications which require JAXP functionality. This approach does not require the download, installation, and configuration of additional XML parsers.
The Oracle XML parser (xmlparserv2.jar) is configured to load as a system level library of OC4J through it's inclusion as an entry in the Class-Path entry of the oc4j.jar Manifest.mf file. This results in the Oracle XML parser being used for all common deployment and packaging situations. You are not permitted to modify the Manifest.mf file of oc4j.jar.
It must be noted that configuring OC4J to run with any additional XML parser or JDBC library is not a supported configuration. We do know customers who have managed to successfully replace the system level XML parser and the Oracle JDBC drivers that ship with the product, but we do not support this type of configuration due to the possibility of unexpected system behavior and system errors that might occur from replacing the tested and certified libraries.
If you absolutely must use an additional XML parser such as xerces, then you have to start OC4J such that the xerces.jar file is loaded at a level above the OC4J system classpath. This can be accomplished using the -Xbootclasspath flag of the JRE.
i have also run the following command
java -Xbootclasspath/a:d:\xerces\xerces.jar -jar oc4j.jar
but no success.
How could i utilize my jar's like xerces.jar and xalan.jar for parsing instead of OC4J in-built parser ?
All reply will be highly appreciated.
Thnx in advance to all.

• Using HAL to generate XML files

Greetings,
I'd like to use HAL to build XML files and feeding certain variables while these files are generated. When the XML file is done being created, it will contain the variables passed. Hi,
I'm running into the same problem deploying the classes generated by the class generator. Code works fine from JDeveloper, but had to put my DTD in the directory where my classes are. Deploying the classes with Apache's JServ gives me a NullPointer exception on the first addNode method. I guess it can't find the DTD. I tried to put the DTD in many locations but this didn't fix the problem. Any suggestions?
Steve,
Did you fix this problem? Thanx!

I've tried to use hierarchy node variables, but it seems like you can't specify a attribute of the hierarchy such as level. So with the WBS hierarchy, if you create a hierarchy node variable, you specify the WBS value to select (If I understand this correctly). I wish I could instead specify "give me all the WBS nodes that happen to have the value of the level attribute greater or equal to 3. If I understand Juergens post, he is saying make security access so that only certain WBS levels can be returned in the query. I suppose we can try that, but that would then preclude getting the level 1 and 2 in the future if the authorization is global.

• How to delete the unix files automatically using the unix scripts

Hi
we have the ADF Project deployed on weblogic server running on top of Linux OS. But, our ADF running project is generating temporary files in weblogic server path below path
/u01/oracle/product/Middleware/user_projects/domains/based_domain/servers/AdminServer/tmp.
we are deleting the folders and files existed in TMP directory manually, when size is huge. but, our requirement is to delete the same automatially using the shell scripting based on the time interval say for every 10 hours or 2 days.
Can anybody please provide us the solution.

• Can you create a form not using a php script?

I need to create a contact us form on my website using DW and have researched how and understand the easiest way is using a php script. Unfortuntately, my webhost server does not support this and will charge me an arm and a leg in order to to do it. Is there another way to have a functioning contact form not using a php script?

Yes and no.
You could use a mailto link for your form action instead of a PHP script.
There are several problems with this method though. First, when you do that, you are at the mercy of the viewer's computer set-up. Mailto links use whatever email client is installed on the machine in order to send the message. Public computers (libraries, colleges, etc) almost never have an email client installed, so when a viewer on one of those machines clicks the link, nothing happens. Secondly, your email address is open for spam harvesters, so you may end up with enlargement and nigerian scam emails flooding your inbox.
Since your provider doesn't give you a way to do it the right way on your server, you may want to look into email form services online and see if they are less expensive than your current alternative.
