Using eCATT for Negative Test

Hi Everyone,
Would like to check the feasibility of using eCATT for negative test.
e.g. Would like to do a negative test for invoice posting via FB01.
        - Test scenario would be G/L account provided is locked for posting.
        - Would eCATT be able to show this as a 'successful' result so that no investigation is required?
Thanks in advance.
- Jason

Hello Jason
I assume that if you execute FB01 to post against a locked account the system will issue an error message.
If so then you can capture this specific error message using the MESSAGE interface:
MESSAGE.
  TCD ( FB01, FB01_1 ).
ENDMESSAGE ( MSG_1 ).
Before executing the transaction I would first check whether the account is indeed locked. Perhaps there is another transaction available for locking the account.
TCD ( xxxx, xxxx_1 ).  " Recording to lock G/L account
MESSAGE.
  TCD ( FB01, FB01_1 ).
ENDMESSAGE ( MSG_1 ).
In general, if you have a specific negative output that is repeatable than you can use eCATT for testing.
Regards
   Uwe

  • Need help in using DemoIdentity for SSL testing

    Hi everybody,
    What I want to achieve:
I want to test a web service over HTTPS using DemoIdentity.
    What I've done:
1- From Server->AdmingServer->Keystores, I configured AdminServer to use DemoIdentity and DemoTrust Keystores.
2- From Server->AdmingServer->SSL, I configured it to Use Server Certs so that I don't have to define a Service Key Provider.
3- I created the Business Service with HTTPS endpoint.
    What I got:
1- the backend system is showing an error that peer (OSB) did not send certificate.
2- in AmdinServer log, I see that OSB has successfully loaded DemoIdentity and DemoTrust. But after backend sends a certificate request, I see this line:
Returning no identity certificates, because certificate request message contains no CA names
    My questions:
What does this mean? what am I doing wrong?
I've been trying to do this test for the past two weeks with lots of failed attempts. I've read almost all of the manuals regarding security and WLS and OSB.
Please respond with something from your experience, don't refer me to manuals :)
    Thanks in advance

Hi Faisal, thanks for the response.. here is what you asked for..
1- Webservice client is a Proxy Service in OSB server. And the Webservice is accessed through another system (IBM Datapower).
2- It's one way. Only my server needs to send it's certificate to them.
3- SSL debug is enabled. and here is the log: (I'll post config.xml in the following reply)

  • Using TimesTen for JUnit tests

I want to switch from using HSQL (in memory) to TimesTen in my Unit tests. Is there a simple setup for TimesTen when used for this purpose?
For example, for HSQL, all I have to do is include the hsql.jar as a dependency in my project, then include the following line in my JUnit test:
    DataSource dataSource = new DriverManagerDataSource("org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver",
    "jdbc:hsqldb:target/test-classes/com/project/path/test/schema", user, pw);
schema is a reference to the schema.script that includes the DDL for all the tables that I need to create in memory.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

From what little I know about it TimesTen is not an in-memory database, it is a caching architecture. Therefore I would expect the set-up to be different - the TimesTen stuff should be set up once ever[], like the schema of a regular database, rather than everytime you run your unit tests.
I think you need to sit down with the TimesTen documentation and figure out how you are going to use the product. If you are just looking for a quick DB to use in unit tests I think you may well want to keep using HSQL.
    Cheers, APC

  • Testing Webdynpro Application using ECATT

    Hi
    all
I am going to test webdynpro Application using ecatt. For this in se80 I selected the
existing component(z component which was created by me) and i selected the application of that component and right clicked  and selected START ECATT RECORDING and i have given the test cript name at that i have got one error USER ECATT_HTTPDoesnot exist. How to resolve this problem.
Please give me the soulution regarding this.
    regards
    venkat

    Hi Venkatesh,
Before you can start recording any webdynpro application make sure that the below settings are done in the ecatt system and the target system , for further information refer ecatt documentation.
Create User ECATT_HTTP in the eCATT System
The administrator in the eCATT system must create a user called ECATT_HTTP(with a password). The user requires no special authorization but must be a system user (in transaction SU01, display the user and choose the Logon data tab. Under User Type, select System).
Activate the Service ecatt_recorder in the eCATT System
           1.      In the eCATT System, start transaction SICF and navigate to the service ecatt_recorder.
           2.      Double-click on ecatt_recorder.
           3.      On the Logon Data tab, enter the user ECATT_HTTPand the password.
           4.      Choose Save.
           5.      Select ecatt_recorder and choose Service/Virtual Host  ->  Activate.
Activate the Service ecattping in the Target Systems
    Java System
           1.      In the Visual Administrator, choose Server ->Services -> Deploy.
           2.      On the Runtime tab, select Application.
           3.      Select ecattping.
           4.      Choose Start Application.

  • Is there any tool uses Selenium tests for performance test

    Hello!
I am looking for a tool for using performans test.
I have Selenium test scenarios and I want to use them for performance tests.
Which tools use Selenium tests for performance tests or
Which are the best tools to test a JSF Application? Which experiences
    have you made?

    Hi,
If you have the test kit installed i.e. the CTK , then you will find it under the corresponding test folder. For example , i have it under C:\Program Files (x86)\WindowsEmbeddedCompact7TestKit\tests\target\
The test harness files , tux and kato can be found under
    C:\Program Files (x86)\WindowsEmbeddedCompact7TestKit\harnesses\target\
The above two files tux and kato would be required for running any tests on Windows embedded compact platforms.
Depending on your platform , you may choose to use the corresponding binaries in the sub directory.
    Regards,
    Balaji.

  • Experiences using CBTA for test of SAP UI5

    Hi All,
We are looking into using CBTA for functional testing of SAP UI5 application.
Are there any one who would share some experiences regarding this?
    Tanks in advance
    /Søren Amdi Bach

    Hi Stefan,
while the JARs in the UI5 Eclipse plug-ins contain the same files and it would be possible, but a bit cumbersome to extract and combine them, you are of course right that the SCN trial is severely lagging behind.
Unfortunately getting the SCN updated is a relatively complicated process which is not completely in our hands, so we recently focused on getting the OpenUI5 releases (which we control) reliably done. I let a colleague know who will try to do it this week (no promise). The version will then be 1.18.11.

    Andreas

  • ECATT for data upload

    Hi,
We want to use ECATT for data upload. We have created test script, test data container and test configuration. We are uploading the variants from external file from EDIT-> variants-> Upload. But does the text file need to have different variant names against each data record as this becomes cumbersome.  Also for parameter fields which have fixed value, needs to be available in text file with the value?
Is there any other method for data uploading using ECATT?
    Prashant

    Hi,
For your later questions I will answer as your previous questions are well answered by others.
For parameters with fixed values, you dont need to put it in the external file but only if you have used the Fixed values against the Parameter in the test script .
In Ecatt, TCD Recording mode is widely used.It is comparively faster when compared to SAPGUI Method.
SAPGUI is very slow. SAPGUI method can be used if you need to upload longtext or if you need to record Active X Controls as these cannot be handled by TCD Method.

  • Application Insights for load testing in VS 2013, Azure Preview or Visual Studio Online?

I'm trying to get some clarification on which version of application insights to use to get performance counters from application insights for my azure cloud service for load and performance testing purposes.
So far, its not be clear what the differences between the two versions are, after deploying first the Azure Preview version, I attempted to set up performance counters using application insights but was shown an error because my visual studio online account
did not have an associated application insights instance.
Is it possible to get performance counters using AI for load testing using the Azure Preview version? If so, how? If not, is that planned as a new feature or will performance counters for VSO cloud based load testing have to be used when support for the
VSO version of application insights is eventually dropped?
    Thanks,
    Luke

Hi Alex, thanks for your response. I do have an Azure account, and have tinkered with AI in Azure Preview. My question was more about what the differences between the VSO and azure preview versions of AI are.
When I initially deployed AI to the azure portal and tried to run load tests from visual studio (cloud load tests, that is) I could not. Its possible I had made a mistake in configuring the azure version of application insights though. Strangely enough,
I actually do still see application insights data in the azure preview portal after I removed the newer AI version and installed AI 1.3.
To clarify my question, is it or will it be possible to run cloud based load tests (using visual studio online or another integrated service) against a azure web role deployed with application insights for azure and get performance counters of the system
under test via AI? To do that, will I also have an application insights application in the visual studio online account (similar to how I do now with the VSO version of AI), because that seems to be a requirement to load performance counters from application
    insights within visual studio.
Thanks and sorry if I misunderstood your answer.

  • Lightweight webserver for local testing only ?

    Hi all
I use eclipse for web development and want to view my pages for local testing before uploading til www.
Are there any http servers available for this purpose only ? I've looked at the LAMP article in the wiki and I've tried XAMPP before, but it seems somewhat bloated if the only purpose is to see if my php-pages are correctly displayed :-/
And then there is the security issues!
    Anyone have good experiences ?
    I want to use:
    - php
    - MySql
    - phpmyadmin
The best solution would be if eclipse has this setup built-in, but I can't seem to find a proper solution :-/

Well going on what I personally know works, I recommend apache.
But I've heard nothing but great things about lighttpd, and would definitely recommend looking into it as it's a much lighter solution.
As far as security goes, you should be fine if you take the proper precautions.  And if you're only using it for local tests, you can use the hosts.allow and hosts.deny files in conjunction with apache/lighttpd configs and iptables to make sure only your local intranet can access the webserver.

  • How to test workflow using eCATT?

    Hi,
Is there any method to test workflow using eCATT?

  • Security Testing using eCATT

    Hello,
I would like to know if any one has found a good solution for Security testing using eCATT.
    Thanks you
    Gilles

    Hi Gilles,
Security testing in tems of roles and authorizations of users is very much possible in eCATT as conveyed by Jon.
If you have large quantity of scripts which need to be tested depending on roles & authorization and if you are testing it with SCAT transaction using catalog, plan & package then you can prepare package depending on user IDs. This will help in a way that you will be giving once the User ID & password at execution time for given package and all the roles, authorizations linked to that ID will be tested for that bunch of scripts.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to test webdynpro applications using ecatt

    Hi All,
Can anyone give me detail explanation of what is ecatt and how it can be used for webdynpro applications.
    Thanks in advance,
    Aleem.

    Hi Aleem,
The Extended computer Aided Test  tool is known as eCATT. Enable businesses  to record and play back applications as automated test scripts.
The Primary aim is the automatic Testing of SAP business processes. Each test generates a detailed log that documents the test process and result.
I have written a wiki page for webdynpro abap testing using ecatt .

  • Testing WD Java Applications using eCATT tool

    Hi All,
We are trying to simulate the runtime tests of WD java Applications using the tool eCATT. I would like to know the current procedure followed to achieve the same.
We have ample users using eCATT tool for testing their WD ABAP Applications. Do you have any information about the team or users using the eCATT tool for the WD Java Applications?
Also, i need some information about the WD Java Runtime team.
Could you please provide me with some inputs?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Best Regards,

  • Load/Performance Testing using ECATT

Please provide the process to perform Load/Performance Testing using ECATT ASAP.
What are the T-Codes are required to fulfill Load/Performance Testing using ECATT.
    Thanks in ADVANCE.

    Hello Colleague,
Here are the steps that you need to do, for performance testing using ST30.
Use transaction ST30 to invoke Global Performance Analysis ( Widely used for performance tests of certain transactions ).
On the eCATT test tab, Key in the folloing data
Log ID ( needs to be created ONLY for the first run ),
Performance test ( logically the entries for Perrformance test field are of the format:
    Logid_name/PERF_transaction_name/systemname/client/date ),
Name of the testconfiguration ( You need to create a test configuration for the eCATT to be used in ST30, use the same name for the created Test
configuration as that of the test script ),
No of times the test configuration needs to be run as the preprocessor to create the required backend data, No of times the test configutation needs to
run as processor ( both these fields are filled with 5 and 5 or 5 and 10 respectively for performance measurements, but in your case you can give a 1 and 1
or 0 and 1 in these fields for your requirements )
With all the check boxes in the Programming guidelines and Distributed Statistics Data unchecked ( unless req ). In the data comparison ( use No - option
    for With values ).
Click on the eCATT test only button to start the performance run using ST30.
Now the procedure stated above makes the eCATT test configuration execute as many times as the sum of pre and pro given by the user AT ONE STRETCH ONLY. But if there is a requirement of having the eCATT execute after an interval, we follow a different approach.
We have a VB script that will create a ECA session, call se37, select the required test package and then execute all the required test cases ( eCATTs ) in the
test package and also ensure the KILL ECA session at the end of the execution.
We then create a batch file to execute the VB script and call the batch file for our executions
In you case, please schedule the execution of the batch file for every 30 mins ( or any such time duration ) using the simple scheduler functionality provided by
    Windows.
The only problem with this is that whenever we have some system messages / Software updates / any new screens the scheduling is bound to fail as the called VB script does not handle the new situation. Please also ensure that the user whose Password has been given in the scheduler has to be the user who has logged into the system during the execution period.
So, to summarize : ST30 will only allow you to run the eCATT as many times as required, but only at ONE STRETCH, you need to use the second mechanism to make the eCATT run effectively after a predetermined time without any user interaction.
FYI : A new feature to handle the scheduling of executions is being developed, will post the details when it is available and the usage steps soon. We also have a new command called PERF ENDPERF in eCATT also ( a new development ), kindly go through the documentations for the new developments in eCATTs for the same
    Thanks and best regards,
    Sachin
