Using GET inside actionscript

I'm deciding whether to use Adobe AIR to develop a desktop application.
I'm wondering if it's suitable for the functionality I'm looking at.
1. Needs to be able to process a URL address with a GET parameter, upon which an XML file will be returned.
2. Filter the XML returned and store some data into database.
3. One of the bits of data is an image file, which I guess should be no problem for AIR to display
I know PHP language but not developing it as a web app because users might get suspicious because they need to submit sensitive information online for the application to work.
Should I use AIR?

Yes, Air should be able to do this no problem.
1.  Yep, can do this no problem
2.  Air has SQLite support built in so you can create databases using the same type of SQL statements you're probably used to from PHP (note: some things are different in SQLite from standard SQL)
3.  Yep, you can get images from a URL as well and either display them directly or if it's an image that will be re-used alot simply store it in the SQLite database so the client does not have to retrieve it every time.

    This sometimes happens if you have a case or screen protector on the phone.  IF you have one of these remove it and see if it makes any difference

  • How do I use Get-ADUser to get just the Managers attribute? And then get rid of duplicates in my array/hash table?

    Hello,
          I am trying to just get the Managers of my users in Active Directory. I have gotten it down to the user and their manager, but I don't need the user. Here is my code so far:
    Get-ADUser-filter*-searchbase"OU=REDACTED,
    OU=Enterprise Users, DC=REDACTED, DC=REDACTED"-PropertiesManager|SelectName,@{N='Manager';E={(Get-ADUser$_.Manager).Name}}
    |export-csvc:\managers.csv-append
    Also, I need to get rid of the duplicate values in my hash table. I tried playing around with -sort unique, but couldn't find a place it would work. Any help would be awesome.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    I would caution that, although it is not likely, managers can also be contact, group, or computer objects. If this is possible in your situation, use Get-ADObject in place of Get-ADUser inside the curly braces.
    Also, if you only want users that have a manager assigned, you can use -LDAPFilter "(manager=*)" in the first Get-ADUser.
    Finally, if you want all users that have been assigned the manager for at least one user, you can use:
    Get-ADUser
    -LDAPFilter "(directReports=*)" |
    Select @{N='Manager';E={ (Get-ADUser
    $_.sAMAccountName).Name }}
    -Unique | Sort Manager |
    Export-Csv .\managerList.csv -NoTypeInformation
    This works because when you assign the manager attribute of a user, this assigns the user to the directReports attribute of the manager. The directReports atttribute is multi-valued (an array in essence).
    Again, if managers can be groups or some other class of object (not likely), then use Get-ADObect throughout and identify by distinguishedName instead of sAMAccountName (since contacts don't have sAMAccountName).

  • Finder. Dragging a file into a folder I get inside that folder.

    When dragging a file into a folder I get inside that folder instead of staying in the original location. Why?
    This may sound a bit stupid but it did not use to happen before and it's annoying when you are cleaning up a folder and just want to drag and drop some files into different folder and don't want to get into each folder.
    I have tried into finder configurations and nothing.
    Any ideas?

    If you hover hesitantly over a folder during a drag/drop maneuver, the folder will open, rather than just receive the files. The instant that the folder gets that grey background box, release the dragged objects. Practice.

  • Java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: getSocket using JavaMail inside JBoss

    Hi,
    i built a library to easily send emails with JavaMail, via SMTP. When i use my lib in a stand-alone java application, it works fine, but when i need to use it inside my web application, deployed on JBoss AS, i get the following error:
    Servlet.service() for servlet action threw exception
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: getSocket
         at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.openServer(SMTPTransport.java:1250)
         at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.protocolConnect(SMTPTransport.java:370)
         at javax.mail.Service.connect(Service.java:233)
         at it.compit.mail.helper.send.SMTPSender.send(SMTPSender.java:39) where it.compit.mail.helper.send.SMTPSender.send is the method i use to send email in my lib. SMTPSender.java at line 39 is
    SMTPTransport tr = (SMTPTransport) session.getTransport("smtp"); I don't want to use SessionBean to send email from JBoss AS. I did not include mail.jar in server/default/lib dir because JBoss has got a built-in implementation of JavaMail. Using javamail debugging, i've noticed that javamail inside my JBoss is "JavaMail version 1.3.1", while i used version 1.4ea to build my lib.
    So, any ideas to solve my problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Elisa Distefano a.k.a Etha

    Hi bshannon,
    i looked for other javamail libs in my JBoss dir: found nothing but the only mail.jar located in server/default/lib/ (provided by default installation). I tried to specify the classpath into mail-service.xml without success.
    I also noticed that when JBoss starts, logs print "DEBUG: JavaMail version 1.3.1 " while the MANIFEST.MF inside my mail.jar contains "Implementation-Version: 1.4".
    My JBoss version is 4.0.4 GA. Any idea?!?

    It seems that problem is caused by af:query or quickquery component(or underlying view object or view criteria).
    Maybe you can drop BTF as static region directly to your page and see if this will run correctly?
    YES i have try stll does not work
    So then this is not related with "npe when using popup inside adf table column"

  • How do I get inside my iMac G4?

    Hi Guys,
    I have an iMac (G4 800 MHz) and it is getting slower and the fan is getting louder. I have been told to clean the fan but I cannot actualy get inside to do that.
    I am a bit slow myself so can anyone advise me as to how I can open up my iMac?
    Many Thanks
    DM

    ) Unplug and disconnect everything from the iMac.
    2) Lay computer down on table, support the monitor with a pillow or two.
    3) Turn base so that the optical drive is facing to the right (from the bottom).
    4) Take off the bottom plate. Note: These screws do not come out, just loosen them... once all are loose, remove the cover.
    5) Remove the RAM and/or airport card.
    6) Use torx drive to take off four bolts.
    7) Carefully pull the bottom of the housing open at the seam. Note: You will need to have a book or a small pillow to place the bottom housing on, so that you don't put stress on cables.
    8) Have a look inside the computer. Clean it out...
    9) Next to the shinny metal area, you will see some metal posts. In fact, two of the bolts that you took off come through these posts. You will see some dirty grey tar-like substance. Clean this off as best as you can. Scraping with a credit card worked well for me.
    10) You need to apply thermal paste to each metal post. I a thin film on each post and then put a pea-sized dab in the middle of the four bottom posts. Note: These posts conduct heat away from your processor. The paste ensures that the heat can travel through the entire post all they way up to the top of the iMac. Be generous with the paste.
    11) Gently close the cover and replace all four bolts. Tighten opposite corners (ex. top left and then bottom right) to ensure that the base goes on straight. Note: These bolts need to be quite tight, so make sure that they are.
    12) Replace the RAM, Wireless card..
    13) The bottom cover back on.
    14) Set the computer up
    15) Boot up.

  • How to prevent dust fr, How to prevent dust from getting inside the ports and earpiece?

    So I just got my iPhone 5 a coupe days ago and I just can't seem to keep dust from getting inside my phones port and speaker holes and also the earpiece. I have a case on the phone but obviously it doesn't protect those areas. I also bought a can of canned air but that only works when I used it at that moment but as soon as I'm out the house dust starts getting in those areas. I also had this problem with my precious iPhone 4. Can someone help??

    The only thing you can really do is get a case that protects the ports. Lifeproof, Otterbox (to a lesser degree) and Ballistic come to mind.
    I carried a 4 and a 4S for quite some time with no case at all with few problems as a result of dust. Every once in a while, I would get a dust bunny in the headphone jack. Had to clean that out with a toothpick. Clean the dock connector with a clean dry toothbrush.
    I have an Otterbox defender on my 5. Haven't had it long enough to swear to how well it will do as far as dust goes, but so far, so good. The re-designed speaker/mic grille should help some.

  • Getting inside a configuration object

    Hi All,
    I have been trying to use a Configuration Object to store some static data for lookup purposes. Below is a piece of the object. I can check the object out of the repository and I see it my log file. But when I try to get inside the object to get the variables I need, I've tried numerous variations of 'get' and fall flat on my face. I've looked at other examples and they don't seem suited for my use. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    <Configuration name='ADServerLookupTable'>
    <Extension>
    <Object>
    <Attribute name='DEFAULT'>
    <Object>
    <Attribute name='fileServer'>

    <String>defaultFileServer</String>
    </List>
    </Attribute>
    <Attribute name='mailServer'>

    <List>
    <String>MAILSERVER2</String>
    </List>
    </Attribute>

    </Attribute>... there is much more

    Nevermind - getObject in the FormUtil works fine. I must have used the wrong syntax or context may not have been passed properly in my rule... Thanks anyway.

  • How can I get inside my Satellite L10-204?

    Hello Everyone!
    Does anybody know how can I open my nootbook?
    Where can I find any information about getting inside?
    I need it becouse I have to clean the cooler.
    Thanks
    (My model:Satellite L10-204)

    Hello Michal
    Without Maintenance manuals you should not disassemble the notebook. as you probably know disassembling procedure must be done in the right order to avoid hardware damaging.
    Unfortunately I see there just one problem: Maintenance manuals is not public document. If you want to clean up your notebook try please with vacuum cleaner.
    +One user wrote here on this forum: A good way for clearing this accumulation of dust is to use a vacuum cleaner hose against the air intake grilles so that the dust is sucked out. Just put the hose against the air intake grilles for a few seconds and block any gaps around the hose with a duster.+

         public String getTitle() {
              System.out.print(title);
              return title;
         public void setTitle(String title) {
              this.title = title;
    }displayInfoScreen method in class A calls out for getTitle( ) to be displayed on an applet as an initial display string for the application.
    The instance variable title is set by setTitle method which is called out in class testA as follow,
    public class testA extends TestCase
          * testASprite constructor comment.
          * @param name
          *          java.lang.String
         public testA(String name)
              super(name);
          * Insert the method's description here.
          * @param args
          *          java.lang.String[]
         public static void main(String[] args)
              junit.textui.TestRunner.run(suite());
              // need to figure out how to get rid of the frame in this test
              System.exit(0);
         public static Test suite()
              return new TestSuite(testA.class);
          * Basic create and simple checks
         public void testCreate()
              A theGame = new A();
              assertNotNull("game was null!", theGame);
          * Basic create and simple checks
         public void testInit()
              A theGame = new A();
              Frame gameFrame = new Frame("THE GAME");
              gameFrame.add(theGame);
              int width = 640;
              int height = 480;
              gameFrame.setSize(width, height);
              // must pack to get graphics peer
              gameFrame.pack();
              theGame.resize(width, height);
              theGame.setTitle("TEST THE GAME");
              theGame.init();
              assertEquals("ASprite width not set", A.width, width);
              gameFrame.dispose();
              gameFrame.remove(theGame);
    }Basically, class testA invokes the init( ) method in class A and start the applet application. However, it displays a white blank display. If I change the getTitle( ) in the displayInfoScreen method to a fixed string, it works fine. Did I forget anything as far as using getter & setter method? Do I have to specify some type of handle to sync between setter and getter between two classes? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Your class A extends runnable which leads me to believe that this is a multi-threaded application. In that case, title may or may not be a shared variable. Who knows? It's impossible to tell from what you posted.
    Anyway, what is happening is that your applet is being painted by the JFrame before setTitle is called. After that, who knows what's happening. It's a complicated application. I suspect that if you called setTitle before you added the applet to the frame, it would work.

  • Exchange 2013 CU5 , Exchange Power Shell very very very slow reasponse when using get command.

    Exchange 2013 CU5 , Exchange Power Shell very very very slow reasponse when using get command.
    First my organize has Exchange on 2 site like
    site A (internet facing) : 2CAS 2 MB all are Services pack1
    site B (DR Site , no user active on this site) : 2CAS 2MB all are Services pack 1
    so today I upgrade Exchange 2013 from SP1 to CU5 start on "site B" and I found this issue and the details is....
    When I open EMS on any CU5 for query something (like get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus) the response return very slow and some query will not return at all (like get-owavirtualdirectory).
    But If I using EMS on SP1. Everything is ok then I try to use EMS on SP1 connect to CU5 and try to query something. the result is
    some query command cannot return for any result that are server on siteB (just some query command)
    Problem
    EMS on CU5 return very slow result.
    EMS on SP1 still ok.
    Does anyone face this problem before for CU5??? Please help me figure this out. Thank you
    reply from Social.technet

    Hi,
    Have you used the above cmdlets to check your Exchange server health?
    "all other command that I ran on EMS didn't logged on event viewer.", my environment is the same with you. I use Exchange 2013, only errors will be displayed in MSExchange Management. Actually, it is not related to slow EMS response.
    Hope it helps.

  • How can I use LCCS with ActionScript 3 and Flash CS4?

    Hi,
    Using Stratus I was able to create an an application using Action Script 3 and Flash CS4.  The sample code on the Adobe site was quite straight forward and easy to understand.  I now want to switch over to  LCCS but can't find anything any where on how to use Action Script 3 and Flash CS4 with LCCS.  Do I need to know Flex to be able to use LCCS?  Everything was quite simple and easy to understand with Stratus and makes complete sense.  But LCCS is really confusing.  Is there any sample code on how to establish a connection in Action Script 3 and then stream from a webcam to a client.  There is nothing in the  LCCS SDK that covers Flash and Action Script 3.  Please help!  I found the link below on some forum but it takes me nowhere.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the LCCS world.
    Please refer to the SDK's sampleApps folder. There would be an app called FlashUserList. The app demonstrates how LCCS can be used with Flash CS4. Its a  pretty basic app, but should help you moving.
    We are trying to improve our efforts to help developers in understanding our samples. Please do let us know if we can add something that would help others.
    Thanks
