Using integrated security to access SQL Server database

Hi,
Currently we are using username/password combination to log in to a SQL Server database. These varaiables are defined as environment variables.
For security reasons we now want to use integrated security of the SQL Server database. This way the connection will be with the NTUser the Nodemanager has been started with.
Can this be done in Fort?

I do not think there is a way to pass the NT user's security authentication over to the DB in UDS.

  • How I can install and configure dg4odbc to access SQL Server database

    I need to link Oracle database (installed in Solaris) to SQL Server database. How can I install and configure dg4odbc. Is there any step by step tutorial or guide available there.Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
      You can download the DG4ODBC software from either MOS or eDelivery depending which versios you want to install
    For 11.2.0.4 -
    Patch 13390677: 11.2.0.4.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER
    - login to My Oracle Support
    - click on 'Patches and Updates'
    - search for patch number 13390677
    - you may need to press the '+' button to see the platform list
    - scroll down the list to and click on the 'Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)'  option.
    - on the next screen click on the 'Download' option
    - from the list of download files choose -
    p13390677_112040_platform_5of7.zip
    - this is the Gateway media pack and has everything needed for a standalone gateway install.
    - unzip the file and run the installer and choose the gateway you want.
    For 12.1 -
    https://edelivery.oracle.com
    Product Pack – Oracle Database
    Platform – Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
    Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1.0) Media Pack for Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
    - then for the gateways download –
    Oracle Database Gateways 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1.0) for Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
    - unzip and run the installer
    Whichever version you decide I recommend you install into a completely separtae ORACLE_HOME from any existing installs as this makes maintenacne easier.
    For the configuration have a look at this note if you have access to My oracle Support -
    How to Configure DG4ODBC on 64bit Unix OS (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX Itanium) to Connect to Non-Oracle Databases Post Install (Doc ID 561033.1)
    If not, then refer to the documentation available from -
    Oracle Database Help Center
    - choose either 12.1 or 11.2 then the 'Information Integration' option.
    You can also install the DG4ODBC on the Windows machine (or any other machine if preferred) and access it from the RDBMS on Solaris.

  • Using Oracle Heterogenous services to access sql server database table

    I have created a dblink 'POC_HS' from oracle to sql (implemented heterogeneous services) and I am able to successfully pull out data from the default database that the DSN(for sql server) is connected to.
    So this 'select * from Test@POC_HS' is working perfectly fine on the Oracle database as 'Test' table resides in the default database (which the System DSN is connected to).
    But when I do 'select * Abc.Test@POC_HS' where Test table resides in 'ABC' database which is not the default database throws an error as follows:
    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist [Generic Connectivity Using ODBC][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object name 'Abc.Test'.[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Statement(s) could not be prepared. (SQL State: S0002; SQL Code: 208)
    I have also tried this 'select * from Abc.dbo.Test@POC_HS' but oracle throws this exception "ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended".
    The dblink user and System DSN account has access to the 'Abc' database.
    Thoughts?

    Thanks for the info.
    But suppose if we have DB link 'POC_HS' where POC_HS is a DBlink between oracle servers, I can do the following -
    1. select * Abc.Test@POC_HS
    2. select * Def.Test@POC_HS
    where Abc,Def are the schemas which the Dblink user has access to. I can execute the above perfectly fine.
    I wanted the achieve the same functionality from Oracle to Sql where database keep on changing dynamically . So according to you that's not possible right?
    We will have to keep on changing the ODBC connection to a different database or create a new odbc/listener/tnsentry each time query uses a different database right?

  • Problem using jsp to query MS SQL server database

    I have a database already set up with columm EventID being int (integer). I use the following code to retrieve data:
    int TestNumber=123;
    String sqlqry = "select Date, starttime, endtime from timeTable where EventID = TestNumber";
    PreparedStatement pstmt = null;
    ResultSet result = null;
    pstmt = con.prepareStatement(sqlqry);
    result = pstmt.executeQuery();
    It does not work. But in String statement, I replace TestNumber by a specific number as follows, it works fine
    String sqlqry = "select Date, starttime, endtime from timeTable where EventID = 123";
    Anybody can help, thanks a lot.

    Learning how to program by using JDBC and JSP is going to be very difficult.
    It does not work.It tells you why if you print the exception.
    1. int TestNumber=123;
    2. String sqlqry = "select ... from timeTable where EventID = TestNumber";
    The literal 'TestNumber' in lines 1 and 2 have absolutely NOTHING to do with each other. In line one it is a java variable. In line two it is an sql identifier which has no meaning and thuse it will cause an exception.

  • How to access Sql Server Express installed on Virtual PC from Host?

    I have SQL Server Express 2008 R2 installed on Virtual PC. and on my Host machine i have SQL Server 2008 R2 ( Enterprise Version) installed.
    Since Management studio that comes with SQL express does not support SQL profiler, i want to access SQL Server Express from the Host machine’s management studio which has SQL profiler.
    But I could access it using VM’s ip address & instance name

    Hi lax,
    Follow below steps in your Virtual Machine:
    1. Allow remote connections to this server
    The first thing you want to check is if Remote Connections are enabled on your SQL Server database. In SQL Server 2008 you do this by opening SQL Server 2008 Management Studio, connect to the server in question, right click the server and open the Server Properties.
    Navigate to Connections and ensure that Allow remote connections to this server is checked.
    2.  Protocols for MSSQLServer
    The next good thing to check is the SQL Server Network Configuration. Open the SQL Server Configuration Manager, unfold the node SQL Server Network Configuration and select Protocols for MSSQLServer (or whatever the name of your SQL Server instance is). Make
    sure that TCP/IP is enabled.
    3. The Firewall
    If there is still no communication happening between your computer and the remote SQL Server you most likely need to configure your firewall settings.
    A good first step is to figure out which port is being used by TCP/IP (and which you need to open in your firewall). You can do this by right clicking TCP/IP and selecting Properties. Click on the tab IP Addresses .
    That was easy enough and all there is left to do is to allow inbound TCP/IP traffic on Port 1433 in your firewall. In Windows 7 this works something like this. Open the Control Panel and navigate to Windows Firewall. Click on Advanced Settings on the left hand
    side and you should see the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. Select the Inboud Rules on the left hand side and click on New Rule on the right hand side. This opens the New Inbound Rule Wizard which you can use to allow inbound traffic on Port 1433
    for TCP/IP.
    For more information, please refer to
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/walzenbach/archive/2010/04/14/how-to-enable-remote-connections-in-sql-server-2008.aspx.
    In host machine:
    After you have done steps above, you could use the SQL Server Management Studio in the host machine to connect the SQL Server Express R2 in Virtual PC. If you installed a default instance in Virtual PC, you could use VirtualComputerName to login the SQL
    Server database engine. If you installed a named instance in Virtual PC, you could use VirtualComputerName\InstanceName to login the SQL Server database engine.
    Thanks,
    Maggie

  • Accessing SQL Server from Oracle

    I found an article:
    http:www.databasejournal.com/features/oracle/article.php/3442661
    It shows how to setup a connection from Oracle to SQL Server.
    I am new to Oracle Using SQL Loader and PL/SQL.
    I would like to use the SQL Loader in Oracle to load a table in SQL Server. It is my understanding that a ctl file is used and is called by an Oracle application.
    I would not have an Oracle application. I would like to use the ctl file to load the SQL Server table. Can someone point me on how to use the ctl file for SQL Server?
    Also, in PL/SQL would there be a connection string to connect to SQL Server when accessing a table.
    Is there a book or some documentation that would address the above?
    Thanks in Advance.

    that article shows you how to access SQL Server database through Oracle, therefore you have no need to use SQL Loader to load data from SQL Server bcos it can be queried directly by using simple select statement.
    If you want to load the data into Oracle just use CREATE TABLE ... AS SELECT ...
    in PL/SQL, what you need is the database link.

  • How can I  connect to SQL server database thru local network by using JSP?

    I'm currently doing a project by using JSP..And I need to display record from the SQL Server database in our school's local network. May I know how can I do that? How can I write the code so that I can able to access the SQL Server databsase Throught school's network by using JSP? Please tell me step by step how can I do that. I'm using Tomcat 4.1 as Web Server. And I had J2SE and J2EE installed in my computer.

    first you have to establish a ODBC DSN on your computer,
    that connects to the database...you can do that from your control pannel.
    i assume that the TOMCAT server is residing on your computer....(if the webserver is in other computer then you would have to create a System DSN on the data sources ODBC option in the settings>control pannel of that machine)
    then you can use that DSN name to connect to the data base from the class file....for further assistance on how to create the class that access the tutorials in sun site.

  • Entity Framework - Code First - Migration - How to access SQL Server and Oracle using the same context?

    Hello,
    I use Entity Framework code first approach.
    My project is working fine with SQL Server. But, I want to access Oracle too. I want to switch SQL Server and Oracle in run time.
    I am able to access Oracle using "Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.EntityFramework.dl" in a new project.
    But, Is this possible to access SQL Server and Oracle in the same project.
    Thanks,
    Murugan

    This should be possible with a Code-First workflow.  In Code-First the database mapping layer is generated at runtime.

  • Accessing an SQL Server Database created by MS Access Web App

    1.I have tried to use MS Access Web App which has created an SQL Server Database. I would like to access the database using SQL Management Studio Express 2014.  In access I can see the server name on windows.net and the database name but I do not know

    2.I also want to view our emails on MS Exchange in real-time. In MS Access Jet I can do this by linking the folders as tables. Is there a way of doing this in SQL Server? If not can I have a separate MS Access Jet with linked tables which I can then link into
    my SQL Server as an OLEDB Linked server?
    3. If going for the Linked Table in Jet solution where can I store it so that my MS Access Web App will have access to it?

    Hi gkounis,
    I don't think it support link MS Access Jet with linked tables in SQL Server.
    Can you share some info about your MS Access Web App?

  • Converting Access application after migrating SQL Server database

    I have used migration workbench to migrate an access database and application. I now have sql server databases with access applications that need to be migrated. How can I convert the access applications that currently use sql server as a database? I don't see that migration workbench considers this combination.

    If you have and Access/SQL Server combination. then download the SQL server plugin appropriate to your version of SQL server. Go ahead and migrate the SQL Server database to Oracle. Once this is done, then update your access application so your link tables point to your newly migrated Oracle database.

    Informative thread indeed. Wish I saw it early enough. Managed to come up with the code below before I saw this thread.

    Uhm SQL (Structured Query Language) is like the base
    of all other type like MySQL and Oracle. Um, given the context I think the person was referring to "Microsoft SQL Server". Sometimes people will cut to the chase and refer to the product as "SQL". At those times it's understood by all parties that we're not talking about the query language, rather the Microsoft product.
    I think this is one of those times.
    See
    something i found in two seconds with the wonder of
    google http://sqlzoo.net/ & http://sqlzoo.net/w.htm
    It's commendable that you're using Google. I'd argue that the OP should be making better use of it, too. But I don't think your response is applicable to this context. JMO, of course.
