Using jasper Reports with Tomcat5.5

hi ,
i am trying to use Jasper Reports with Tomcat 5.5 but not able to do it.
i have written a simple java program to read data from MySql database and generate a report in PDF format. the good thing is that when i am doing this as a independent java program and running it in Eclipse3.2 then its working fine. but i am not able to run it as a sevlet thru Tomcat5.5.
any help ? is there any issue with version ...

Problem in using Jasper Reports with JFrames

Hi,
I am using Jasper Reports in Swings.
I could Generate Jasper Reports from JFrames with out any problem,
but while closing the Report, the JFrame is also getting closed automatically.
this should not happen for my application.
So, how could i restrict the JFrame from exiting when Jasper Reports are closed.

What are correct steps of integrating and using jasper report with ADF 11g?

I am using JDev 11.1.1.2.0 with ADF 11g.
I want to use jasperreports 3.7.0 along with ADF 11g to build reports in PDF on a button event. This is the first time I will be attempting it so before starting up I went through forum to get exact and clear steps on the jars and integration points of jasper with adf. There is exhaustive list but still it does not have the needed clarity.
Can anyone help in listing down the jars and integration steps? and also want to know if there are any points in particular that I need to be aware of while running i along with ADF faces.
Pls note the ver. of jasper and adf mentioned above.

Hi,
Basically, you need to:
- have all the jars in ViewProject/WEB-INF/lib, and include them to the project (Project properties -> Libraries and Classpath) - last time I did this was with version 3.1.3 and the necessary jars were jasperreports-3.1.3.jar, jcommon-1.0.0.jar and iText-2.1.4.jar (plus poi<+whatever is the latest version+>.jar if you want to generate .XLS reports)
- call the code for generating reports from your backing bean (button's actionListener)
- flush the report to the client (directly to HTTPResponse or by using af:fileDownloadListener)
Those are the general steps, without going into the coding.

Integrating Jasper Reports with BPM Inbox

BPM Dashboard has click able graphics which drill down the Inbox with the filtered results.
Now we are using Jasper Reports for building Dashboard. We want to implement the same type of drill down functionality with Jasper Charts.
Does anyone know how to filter the inbox like BPM Dashboard does ?

When clicked on a chart in BPM Dashboard, it makes an AJAX call to get the updated chart information. While getting the chart information the call also updates the filter criteria in a predefined View. This view should have the required Filter criteria defined.
After getting the response from the server.. Dashboard re-directs the parent window to a URL which displays the Filtered results.
Now we are checking on how to make this AJAX call from Jasper report.

Beginner trying to use Jasper Reports

I am a beginner in implementing report generation. I want to use Jasper reports to convert my xml to pdf using the ireport plugin in Netbeans
Presently i have an input xml, i do not want to make an JDBC connection or an database connection, i am using another tool to generate xml output from the database.
i get my input xml and i want to convert into pdf, is there any way to do that??

How to deploy Jdeveloper application to war file using jasper reports?

I´m not sure I this is the right place to ask, but I really need help.
I´m using Jdeve 10.1.3.2
My application is working perfectly. However when I deploy to war file in publish it into application server OC4J. I can´t print report.
the error says that it can´t find jrxml file.
I´ve tried to deploy report´s files with the applicaiton. I´ve tried just to set the path of the jrxml file. but nothing works.
How can I deploy my applicattion to use Jasper reports correctly?

Hi,
I think first you need to wrap it into an EAR file, then you can deploy it.
As far as I know standalone deployment of WAR is deprecated as of 640.

ADF 11G: opening PDF into new Window using Jasper Report

Hello, I am using JDev 11.1.1.5.0
I have a page into a bound Task FLow containing a table and a "print "button".
I am using Jasper Report to create a PDF document.
I want this document to be opened into a new Window when the user click on the button.
I've been reading several threads/blogs to do this but it is not working.
please help me out with the sample or some link where I can refer.

Hi All,
Today I checked and got the Reason why Server is getting shut down while closing the Report window.... this is just because of JasperViewer.
so while opening the JasperViewer to show the Report we need to pass the second parameter as False.
JasperViewer.viewReport(jasperPrint,false);k thanks for your update....
but still my actual problem exist....
I don't want to use JasperViewer to view the Report.
Like when I'm clicking on Button PDF Report is opening in the same Winodw.

How to use didcoverer reports with EBS 11i

how can we use dicoverer reports with 11i
how to register them,run them from 11i.
and where are these reports stored.like if i created a open periods report that shows all the open periods in AR,AP modules,where do i need to place these reports to run from applications 11i.
i never used discoverer,i am just asking these questions assuming discoverer reports work similar to that of reports 6i

Discoverer can be called from Oracle Apps or more usually from it's own XML version (Plus) or from it's own HTML version (Viewer).
Discoverer reports (workbooks) are created with a client / server version (desktop) or the XML version (Plus).
Once a workbook has been written it is possible to call it directly from Apps, but again, it's more usual to firing up Discoverer directly and going from there.

The print out sheet is pre printed one.
That one is Like
MASTERS DETAILS(Half of the Papper)
FIRST CHILD(HAVING MORE THAN ONE RECORD -- Half of the Remaining Half Paper)
SECOND CHILD (MORE THAN 1 RECORD-- 1/4 of Remaining Papper)
MASTER DETAILS--Last part of the Pre printed papper
Hw can i print this one using Jasper details?

Use Oracle Reports with Jdeveloper 11

My next question. How to use Oracle Reports with jdeveloper 11. I have more oracle reports (used with a existing forms application) and i need to migrate this application to web-adf application. I think that is very powerful to use this oracle definition reports but i not know ho to do it.

Read the publishing reports manual of Oracle reports to see how to Web enabled your Oracle reports. You can then invoke them from an ADF application either by calling a URL or using a Web service interface.

I'm new to Struts2, Hibernate and jasper report. I want to make a report using those tools. Can anybody pls help me by providing a step by step process for it?
I'm using eclipse Ganymede IDE. And want to view report on page with two search criteria as start date to end date and an option choosing.

Yes you can, you'll need to create a new library in JDeveloper with the Jasper reports JARs.
