Using Javascript to disable field "Planned"

Hi every one,
I want to use javascript to disable "Planned" checkbox in Project Server 2013 because we want that user can not see this planned time and be confused with the Project Server's automatic changes for the planned time.
<script type="text/javascript">
document.getElementById("Ribbon.ContextualTabs.MyWork.Home.ShowHide.PlannedWork-Medium-checkbox").checked = false;
</script>
I found this code in this subject :
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/projectserver/en-US/0beeed2d-bebc-4217-981a-41b1252c7cc2/disable-field-planned-in-timesheet?forum=projectserver2010general
But I don't understand where to use it. If i create a custom webpart with this code, I've got a null exception when the page is loading.
So, can you help me ? Maybe I need to use it in an other file ?

Hi Patmol6,
Basically, to add javascript to a PDP (or timesheet page for instance),
edit the page
add the content editor webpart
set it as hidden
copy paste the code
Note that you can also point from the content editor webpart to a js file embedding the javascript code
Here are few examples (some are in PS2007, but the process is similar):

Hope this helps.

  • Use Javascript to disable fields in tabular form built by wizard

    i know this type of disable question has been asked before and i have searched the forum thoroughly but the solutions always seem to be for items i.e P1_NAME and i do not have these as my form is built by a select statement
    i have worked out the syntax (i think)
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    function desactiverElement(item)
    var x = document.getElementById(item);
    if (x)
    x.disabled = true;
    </script>
    to disable and think it goes in the html header or a html region before footer but i cannot work out how to disable the field because i cannot work out how to reference them
    i.e get the value for 'item' in the code
    any help i would be extremely grateful for
    cheers Chris

    the CENTRE_NO field has to be unique , and when i am doing my validation check ,if the user amends the field by accident and then replaces the value it gets an error when it shouldn't
    wish it was as simple as forms just change property to update_allowed = false !!

  • Using Javascript to disable a check box

    Friends,
    I am stuck on what should be a simple requirement and I am hoping you can help.
    I need to disable a form region checkbox if a field on the same form region has anything entered.
    What I have done so far is:
    1) On the item that determines whether the check box should be disabled I have added a call to my Javascript function "onChange="disableDefaultDisplay();" in the "HTML Form Element Attributes"
    2) My javascript funcion is: (this is the basic version, all I am trying to do is disable the check box at this point)
    function disableDefaultDisplay()
    alert("Start of the function");
    var defaultDisplay = document.getElementById("P13_DEFAULT_DISPLAY");
    *defaultDisplay.enabled = false;*
    alert("End of the function");
    Using a combination of firebug and the alert messages I can see that function is called at the correct time (i.e. when the user changes and then leaves the field) and that the values of the variable, defaultDate are set but my attempts to disable the checkbox have yet to work!
    When I look at the type of the checkbox (through the source of the page or firebug) I see the checkbox has the following "fieldset#P13_DEFAULT_DISPLAY.checkbox_group" Do I need to do anything different to disable this type of object?
    Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Hi Andy,
    I was returning to this thread to update it with how I resolved it, so thanks for the detailed response.
    In a nutshell, the solution I used was a loop through the field set(of which there is only one item in it) and disabling it.
    Where you say:
    Secondly, checkboxes are, as you have seen, wrapped within a fieldset tag. The fieldset tag has an ID of the page item name. Each checkbox within that tag has its own ID value, which will be the fieldset ID plus "_n" (where n is a sequential number starting from 0) - thus, the first checkbox will be, for example, "P1_CHECKBOX_0", the second will be "P1_CHECKBOX_1" and so on.From my searching for a solution I had expected to see something like that. But the source for the item I was trying to disable is shown below and I can't see any numbers after it.
    Do you know why? Is it because it is the only item?
    &lt;fieldset id="P13_DEFAULT_DISPLAY" class="checkbox_group"&gt;
    &lt;input type="checkbox" name="p_v18" value="Y" id="P13_DEFAULT_DISPLAY" /&gt;&lt;/fieldset&gt;
    Regards
    Ian

  • Field Segregation using JavaScripts : (Filtering particular field types)

    Hi,
         I've used large no of Dropdown ListBoxes (with same set of list items) in my document. Now I need to segregate the field (Dropdown ListBox) names based on selected option.
    Help me with a javascript to filter all the Fields of Type: DropdownList.
    Example: Consider all Dropdown ListBoxes has the below options:
                                                                  i) Pen
                                                                  ii)Pencil
                                                                  iii)Paper
          (list of DropdownListboxes carrying 1st option "Pen")
                       DropdownList1, DropdownList3, DropdownList4, DropdownList15.........
          (list of DropdownListboxes carrying 2nd option "Pencil")
                        DropdownList2, DropdownList5, DropdownList8, DropdownList9.........
         (list of DropdownListboxes carrying 3rd option "Paper")
                         DropdownList6, DropdownList7, DropdownList10, DropdownList11.........
    Please suggest me with exact solution(javascript).
    Thanks.

    To differentiate between select lists, give each one a unique ID.

  • Using JavaScript to change field in a Form

    Hi,
    Since in forms the fields are named diffently you cannot directly access the variables by the name. For example the column "EMPNO" in a form "EXAMPLE_FORM" is named as "EXAMPLE_FORM.DEFAULT.EMPNO.01"
    In the onChange event of field 1 the code would be something like this.
    for (i=0;i<document.forms[0].elements.count;i++)
    //gets the value of <field_name_1>. <field_name_1> can be copied from the html source.
    if (document.forms[0].elements.name == "<field_name1">)
    l_value = document.forms[0].elements[i].value;
    //sets the value of <field_name_2>. <field_name_2> can be copied from the html source.
    if (document.forms[0].elements[i].name == "field_name2")
    document.forms[0].elements[i].value = l_value;
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks,

  • How do I use Javascript to populate a text field based on a selection from a drop down box?

    Greetings,
    I have virtually no experience with JavaScript and I am trying to figure out how to add some basic automation features to an Adobe form.  I have a drop down box called "Hospital_Name" that will contain approximately 7 possible selections.  When the user makes a selection, I would like to have the text field (called "Hospital_Address") below the drop down box populate with the corresponding address for the selection.  I have the "Hospital_Address" text field configured for multiple lines and would like the address to have a line break between the street address and the city/state/zip.
    For example, if the user selected "Hospital 1", the text field would display:
    123 Main St
    Anytown, CA 12345
    Any help or examples you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    You have the element names within the object within brackets.
    Make sure your brackets are properly placed and matched.
    // Place all pre-population data into a single data structure
    var Location = {
    "--Hospital--":{ line1: " ", line2: " " },
    "Bellevue Medical Center":{ line1: "2500 BMC Drive", line2: "Bellevue, NE 68123" },
    "CHI Bergan Mercy":{ line1: "7500 Mercy Road", line2: "Omaha, NE 68124" },
    "CHI Immanuel":{ line1: "6901 N. 72nd Street", line2: "Omaha, NE 68122" },
    "CHI Lakeside":{ line1: "16901 Lakeside Hills Court", line2: "Omaha, NE 68130" },
    "CHI Midlands":{ line1: "11111 S. 84th Street", line2: "Papillion, NE 68046" },
    "Creighton University Medical Center":{ line1: "601 N. 30th Street", line2: "Omaha, NE 68131" },
    "Nebraska Medical Center":{ line1: "4400 Emile Drive", line2: "Omaha, NE 68105" }
    // some debugging code to see location names;
    console.show();console.clear():
    for(I in Location) {
    console.println(I);
    // end debugging code;
    function SetFieldValues(Hospital_Name) {
        this.getField("AddLine1").value = Location[Hospital_Name].line1;
        this.getField("AddLine2").value = Location[Hospital_Name].line2;
    This is not a beginners task but requires a fair amount of knowledge about the structure of objects, defining strings, and structure of arrays.
    Are you sure you have all the field names correctly spelled and capitalized?
    Do you get any error in the JavaScript console?
    Just trying the line that defines the "Location", I get the following error:
    SyntaxError: invalid property id
    1:Console:Exec
    undefined
    All the form field in a PDF are processed by using JavaScript and any error in any script will stop JavaScript processing.
    It might help to have a link to the problem form.
    Make sure your brackets are properly placed and matched.
    // Place all pre-population data into a single data structure
    var Location = {
    "--Hospital--":{ line1: " ", line2: " " },
    "Bellevue Medical Center":{ line1: "2500 BMC Drive", line2: "Bellevue, NE 68123" },
    "CHI Bergan Mercy":{ line1: "7500 Mercy Road", line2: "Omaha, NE 68124" },
    "CHI Immanuel":{ line1: "6901 N. 72nd Street", line2: "Omaha, NE 68122" },

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to set "peoples or groups" field with current user "login name" in SharePoint list form using JavaScript.
    To set "peoples or groups" field with current user "login name”,  you can use the below code:
    <script src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.9.0.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function SetPickerValue(pickerid, key, dispval) {
    var xml = '<Entities Append="False" Error="" Separator=";" MaxHeight="3">';
    xml = xml + PreparePickerEntityXml(key, dispval);
    xml = xml + '</Entities>';
    EntityEditorCallback(xml, pickerid, true);
    function PreparePickerEntityXml(key, dispval) {
    return '<Entity Key="' + key + '" DisplayText="' + dispval + '" IsResolved="True" Description="' + key + '"><MultipleMatches /></Entity>';
    function GetCurrentUserAndInsertIntoUserField() {
    var context = new SP.ClientContext.get_current();
    var web = context.get_web();
    this._currentUser = web.get_currentUser();
    context.load(this._currentUser);
    context.executeQueryAsync(Function.createDelegate(this, this.onSuccess),
    Function.createDelegate(this, this.onFailure));
    function onSuccess(sender, args) {
    SetPickerValue('ctl00_m_g_99f3303a_dffa_4436_8bfa_3511d9ffddc0_ctl00_ctl05_ctl01_ctl00_ctl00_ctl04_ctl00_ctl00_UserField', this._currentUser.get_loginName(),
    this._currentUser.get_title());
    function onFaiure(sender, args) {
    alert(args.get_message() + ' ' + args.get_stackTrace());
    ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(GetCurrentUserAndInsertIntoUserField, "sp.js");
    </script>

  • It possible using javascript to change the value of another jsf text field?

    In my case, I have an input text field and would like to copy it's value on the onchange() event into another text field. Using the destination text field's Id and assigning some content with it's .value property

    Woodstock apparently renders some Javascript/DOM with some homegrown widget framework which on its turn renders the HTML DOM tree instead of plain vanilla HTML. Correct me if I'm wrong, to confirm this, just view the generated HTML source of the page.
    After some Googling I found out that you need getProps() and setProps() to get and set element attributes respectively.
    [http://google.com/search?q=webuijsf+domnode+site:sun.com].
    If you stucks with this, I recommend you to post this question at a forum or mailinglist devoted to Woodstock, e.g at their own homepage at dev.java.net or the Netbeans forum at nabble.com. You're here at a Sun JSF forum, not at a Woodstock forum.
