Using JProgress bar

Dear all
I am trying to you jprogress bar because on the program I am doing at the moment there are a lot of functions that take time to execute and so I thought that it would be good to use jprogress bar but I am not sure how to use it.
I looked at the progress bar demo in the java tutorial but It didn't tell me how to connect the progress bar with my program.
For an instance in my program there is an image and when you click on the "Detect Corners" button all the corners in the image are loaded in the shape of a triangle around the corner but this process takes time and I would like to add progress to show the progress but I am not sure how to do that.

JProgress bar automatic updation as web page uploads

hi,
I am new java programmer. I am supposed to make a Java browser with some functions similar to Internet Explorer.
As I started Swing just a week back, I am really bad at it. Though i finished all the other parts, just one thing to add a final touch i need is to create a Jprogress bar which gets updated automatically as page is uploaded. Can anyone help me about that? I have studied the tutorials on JProgressBar and was able to create a timer based bar but not a bar that woks as a status bar i.e. as the page is uploaded.
I would be very very grateful if anyone could guide me.

You could use a 'fake' progress bar (that moves independently). That's what even Internet Explorer does. You cannot know anyways if or when a page will be loaded. Just let something move to let the user know that something is still going on. Do you know what I mean? Even an animated GIF could do the job.
A smarter way would be to let the progress bar show different constant values depending on what is happening: 10% when the request was sent, 20% when the server is contacted, 30% when the server responds and so on.

How to use progress bar for Main and Subsequences in teststand

I have one main sequence in that I am calling different subsequences (Containing many steps and for loop).
I am trying to use progress bar for this sequence, but my requirement is progressbar is able to show the progress of all the steps containing in Main and subsequences.
I have developed sequence in that I am able to show the progress for only Main sequence steps not for subsequences steps.
Is it possible? If yes please let me know the suggestions.

How to Use PDF417 Bar Code in Oracle 6i. One of my clients has a requirement that Customer Name and Address to be converted into PDF417.

You will need to add this font to the system and Reports configuration files.
For adding font to the system, refer to your system specific guidelines for installing new fonts.
After you have installed this font on the system, you should be able to see the font in Reports builder font picker dropdown box. or with unix 'xlsfonts' command
For adding this font to the Reports application.
1. Modify the printer definition file ( you can get this info from uiprint.txt file for the .ppd or .hpd file used )
if the printer defination file is .ppd then look for "*Font Information" section and add the new font name there
like *Font <new_font_name> Standard '(00.1001)" Standard ROM
If hpd add the new font tfm file as
FONT= new_font_name
/tfm=new_font_tfm file.tfm
2. Copy the AFM or TFM ( these are fonts metrics files, which font vendor will provide ) into the relevant directory so the the Reports application should pick them up.
3. If necessary, make changes in the alias file (uifont.ali ) for mapping to this font. If the layout objects in your report are associated with the same font name as the new font then mapping is not required. But if the fonts for the layout objects are different then you need to map the original fonts to the new ones. Make sure that the mapping rules should be defined in the right section depending on the printer type being used.

HT2490 Mac OS X 10.6.8 - Finder Preview of Quicktimes using Space Bar

I work with a lot of preview Quicktimes and for some reason all the files with a 320X240 aspect ratio are previewing (using space bar) with the wrong frame size (long skinny picture). Any other files with a different frame size are displaying normal.

How to restore an app to recently used app bar after deleting it from bar?

I frequently have to kill an app (GPS Drive) in order to get it to work properly alongside another app (HiDef Radio). Reason being: When I use the two apps at the same time, the HiDef Radio frequently renders the live voice guidance on GPS Drive inoperable. A customer support representative for GPS Drive advised me to kill GPS Drive, using the recently used apps bar, and re-open it when this happens. (The representative also said that they just submitted a new version of GPS Drive to Apple, which should hopefully fix this problem, but in the meantime, I'm stuck not being able to listen to the radio and use live voice guidance at the same time.)
To kill GPS Drive, I followed the instructions in the iPhone 4.1 manual:
"Remove an app from the recents list: Touch and hold the app icon until it begins to jiggle, then tap [the red minus]."
The manual then states, "The app is added to recent apps again the next time you open it."
Problem is, contrary to what the manual says, GPS Drive is not added to recent apps again the next time I open it. And since it's not added back to the recent apps bar, I can't kill it next time I have this conflict with HiDef Radio. So the problem remains.
Is this—the fact that the app is not added to recent apps again the next time I open it—some sort of bug? (And, if so, is the bug Apple's, or GPS Drive's?) Or am I missing something? (And, if so, how do I make the app re-appear in the recently used apps bar after removing it from said bar?)
If anyone is wondering how I know that removing an app from the recently used apps bar kills it, see this, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4211 :
"If you experience issues with applications that use multitasking, try these steps to troubleshoot:
"1. Check the App Store to verify the application supports multitasking. You can also check the developer's webpage.
"2. Close the application and reopen it:

I just discovered the answer to my question. Apparently, when you're in an app, that app does not appear in the recently used apps bar. This is logical in one sense: You can't switch to an app that you're already in. However, in another sense, it is illogical: In most operating systems, when you want to kill an app, you can kill the app without exiting the app (which is necessary in cases in which a freeze prevents you from exiting the app) by using a keystroke or directly entering a task manager. Given that the recently used apps bar serves two purposes—fast app switching and killing problematic apps—what makes sense for one purpose doesn't make sense for the other purpose. Anyway, the moral of the story is this: If you want to kill an app using iOS 4, you have to exit it first. Problem solved.

With Mavericks and Safari 7, I can no longer use address bar to search.

I had this problem and finally figured it out. Try going to View, and then Show Toolbar. I hope this helps everyone...
EDIT: I didn't read your question carefully enough. Sorry. My problem was that the toolbar wasn't showing up at all.

The Code Capture Tool also includes an example of this in its source code (the preview of the capture can be panned), which also demonstrates one way of handling only some of the mouse move events (which is important, because usually there are too many events and you want to discard some of them).

Navigation using app bar command

I have two html page one is page1.html and other is page2.html and i want to navigate
page2.html from page1.html using app bar command so
When i am using WinJS.Navigation.navigate("/pages/categories/page2.html").done;
It's working but app bar of page2.html is not showing.
but when i am using <a href="/pages/categories/page2.html"> it's showing.

Do you have a special app bar in your page2 or the app bar is shared for the app?
Take a look at the tutorial:
Quickstart: Using single-page navigation, if you can make a model like this, you can navigate to the page2 without setting any app bar.

Using the jprogress bar for file byte array downloads

I am currently using a byte array to send files back and forth between computers. To show a file is transferring i change the mouse to the hour glass but would like to use the jprogressbar.
To send the file i read the file from one computer into a byte array, and then send it through an objectoutputstream. I am not sure how the file is sent or received though. What can i use to judge the length of time it takes to get one file from one computer to the other? In doing a debug, it looks like the oos sends the file to the other computer, and it is basically like an uploading process. is there a way for me to judge or tell how much of the file that is being uploaded is left?

If i know the file size how can i then check the progression? I would also like to use an progress bar on the upload of a file to the other computer, and for the download of the byte array to the other computer i could first give it the file size. if then what can i use to base my progression off of?
i looked at this and it says i am not able to do it, but thought there might have been improvements in the jdk since then, and i might not be seeing them

How to change the data in a chart using slider bar ?

i have issue, i created one SDK extension slider bar based on that i want to change the data in chart.
my requirement is like, i have month and some measures in a chart i want to set month in a slider bar if am moving slider according to that values should be change in chart.

You could try the following.
Pull the month dimension values into an object, where each dimension value is assigned to a "numeric" (air quotes, actually a string) attribute.
Something along the lines of:
var myMonths = new Object();
myMonths["0"] = <month0_key>;
myMonths["1"] = <month1_key>;
Then, you assign the range slider a set of numeric values, from 0 to n, where n is the last attribute in myMonths. When the user changes the slider values and the OnChange is fired, use the numeric values of the current slider positions to get the appropriate range filter values out of myMonths.
I've not tried this yet, so I don't yet know what pitfalls you'd run into.

I want to always be able to page down using space bar, but some web pages seem to disable this.

I often use the space bar to page down in web pages rather than scrolling with the mouse or arrow keys, but in the last few months I've encountered a number of pages that don't seem to allow this browser feature to work. For instance, space bar doesn't page down on https://medium.com/about-work/65d4740f7a2f, although it works fine on mozilla.org and nearly all other sites. The problem is specific to particular pages, so I think it's unlikely to be an add-on problem, and it's certainly not that I've turned on caret browsing. As far as I've tested, the arrow keys still work to scroll such pages, and the mouse always works, so it seems as if space bar has been specifically disabled. (Generally the pages on which space doesn't work seem to be specialized for phones, judging by layout and font size.) Is it possible to reject whatever code is disabling my browser so that my space bar always works?

Another possibility would be a userscript. A userscript is generally written to work on a particular site, although it also can be made to work globally on all pages.
To run a userscript, you require either the Greasemonkey extension or the Scriptish extension.
And somebody to write the script! You can propose a new userscript to the community and see whether anyone is willing to create it for you.

Can no longer open two Firefox tabs, have close using Task Bar/Processes. Some links won't activate on websites. As per support suggestion,have backed up profile, deleted existing profile, removed firefox and replaced thingsetc

As suggested in the support area I have gone through the process of backing up my profile, deleted existing profile, removed firefox from computer, reinstalled profile in fresh folder, reinstalled firefox 6. I have done this twice for no effect - may work as it used to for a while (30mins) then gets back to its old tricks.
It is a bit irritating.
