Using large loaded jpg to heighten clarity/crispness?

Hi There,
I have a gallery on my flash site.  The way I'm working this is as follows:
layer 1 that runs through all frames:  var loader1:Loader = new Loader();
when a button is clicked, the playhead goes to a certain frame and does this:
loader1.unloadAndStop();
holder2.addChild(loader1);
loader1.x = 0;
loader1.y = 0;
loader1.alpha = 0;
loader1.load(new URLRequest("damoimages/med.jpg"));
As a side note, I am also using Greensock's liquid stage to scale this holder up to a certain set size.
Now I've noticed that when I blow up the screen, my loaded jpg loses some of its crispness, which is to be expected.  I've also noticed this is remedied if I import a larger image than I need I get a nice crisp image.  For example, I have been loading in an image that is 960 x 640 into my 'holder' which is 960 x 640.  But when I load a larger image (1200 x 800 or larger) say, the image is nice and crisp.  Only problem is it fills up the whole screen until I begin to resize my browser, then it snaps into place and is scaled correctly by staying crisp.  Any way to tell this loaded image to not come in at it's big size, but to scale down appropriately w/o me scaling down my browser window?
Phew!
Thanks, as always.
R

You need to wait until the image has loaded before you can try to resize it in any way, though you could scale the holder ahead of time if you know the dimensions you will be working with and are consistent with them.

  • Using SQL*Loader and UTL_FILE to load and unload large files(i.e PDF,DOCs)

    Problem : Load PDF or similiar files( stored at operating system) into an oracle table using SQl*Loader .
    and than Unload the files back from oracle tables to prevoius format.
    I 've used SQL*LOADER .... " sqlldr " command as :
    " sqlldr scott/[email protected] control=c:\sqlldr\control.ctl log=c:\any.txt "
    Control file is written as :
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE 'c:\sqlldr\r_sqlldr.txt'
    REPLACE
    INTO table r_sqlldr
    Fields terminated by ','
    id sequence (max,1) ,
    fname char(20),
    data LOBFILE(fname) terminated by EOF )
    It loads files ( Pdf, Image and more...) that are mentioned in file r_sqlldr.txt into oracle table r_sqlldr
    Text file ( used as source ) is written as :
    c:\kalam.pdf,
    c:\CTSlogo1.bmp
    c:\any1.txt
    after this load ....i used UTL_FILE to unload data and write procedure like ...
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE R_UTL AS
    l_file UTL_FILE.FILE_TYPE;
    l_buffer RAW(32767);
    l_amount BINARY_INTEGER ;
    l_pos INTEGER := 1;
    l_blob BLOB;
    l_blob_len INTEGER;
    BEGIN
    SELECT data
    INTO l_blob
    FROM r_sqlldr
    where id= 1;
    l_blob_len := DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(l_blob);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('blob length : ' || l_blob_len);
    IF (l_blob_len < 32767) THEN
    l_amount :=l_blob_len;
    ELSE
    l_amount := 32767;
    END IF;
    DBMS_LOB.OPEN(l_blob, DBMS_LOB.LOB_READONLY);
    l_file := UTL_FILE.FOPEN('DBDIR1','Kalam_out.pdf','w', 32767);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('File opened');
    WHILE l_pos < l_blob_len LOOP
    DBMS_LOB.READ (l_blob, l_amount, l_pos, l_buffer);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Blob read');
    l_pos := l_pos + l_amount;
    UTL_FILE.PUT_RAW(l_file, l_buffer, TRUE);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('writing to file');
    UTL_FILE.FFLUSH(l_file);
    UTL_FILE.NEW_LINE(l_file);
    END LOOP;
    UTL_FILE.FFLUSH(l_file);
    UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(l_file);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('File closed');
    DBMS_LOB.CLOSE(l_blob);
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    IF UTL_FILE.IS_OPEN(l_file) THEN
    UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(l_file);
    END IF;
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Its working at last');
    END R_UTL;
    This loads data from r_sqlldr table (BOLBS) to files on operating system ,,,
    -> Same procedure with minor changes is used to unload other similar files like Images and text files.
    In above example : Loading : 3 files 1) Kalam.pdf 2) CTSlogo1.bmp 3) any1.txt are loaded into oracle table r_sqlldr 's 3 rows respectively.
    file names into fname column and corresponding data into data ( BLOB) column.
    Unload : And than these files are loaded back into their previous format to operating system using UTL_FILE feature of oracle.
    so PROBLEM IS : Actual capacity (size ) of these files is getting unloaded back but with quality decreased. And PDF file doesnt even view its data. means size is almot equal to source file but data are lost when i open it.....
    and for images .... imgaes are getting loaded an unloaded but with colors changed ....
    Also features ( like FFLUSH ) of Oracle 've been used but it never worked
    ANY SUGGESTIONS OR aLTERNATE SOLUTION TO LOAD AND UNLOAD PDFs through Oracle ARE REQUESTED.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Thanks Justin ...for a quick response ...
    well ... i am loading data into BLOB only and using SQL*Loader ...
    I've never used dbms_lob.loadFromFile to do the loads ...
    i 've opend a file on network and than used dbms_lob.read and
    UTL_FILE.PUT_RAW to read and write data into target file.
    actually ...my process is working fine with text files but not with PDF and IMAGES ...
    and your doubt of ..."Is the data the proper length after reading it in?" ..m not getting wat r you asking ...but ... i think regarding data length ..there is no problem... except ... source PDF length is 90.4 kb ..and Target is 90.8 kb..
    thats it...
    So Request u to add some more help ......or should i provide some more details ??

  • Loading XML file using sql*loader (10g)

    Hi Everyone....
    I have a major problem. I have a 10g database and I need to use sql loader to load a large XML file into the database. This file contains records for many, many customers. This will be done several times and the number of records will vary. I want to use sql loader and load to a staging table, BUT SPLIT THE RECORDS OUT and add a sequence. I am having 2 problems.
    In the 10g documentation, when you want to split the records you use the BEGINDATA clause and indicate something (like a 0) for each instance of a record. Well my first file has 3,722 records in it. How do I know the number of records in each XML file?
    The second problem is that because this is XML, I thought that I could use ENCLOSED BY. But the start tag has an attribute /counter in it, sql*loader doesnt recognize the starting tag. (i.e.: start tag is: </CustomerRec number=1>
    end tag is: </CustomerRec> )
    So, I used TERMINATED BY '</CustomerRec>'. This will split out the records, but it will NOT include the ending tag of </CustomerRec> and when I use extract, I receive an XML parsing error.
    I have tried to get the ending tag using CONTINUEIF and SKIP. But those options are for "records" and not lines.
    Does anyone have any ideas for the 2 problems above. I am at my wits end and I need to finish this ASAP. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

    Sorry.... here is an example of what my control file looks like. At the end, I have 92 "0", but remember, I have 3722 records in this first file.

  • Problems using SQL*Loader with Oracle SQL Developer

    I have been using TOAD and able to import large (milllions of rows of data) in various file formats into a table in an Oracle database. My company recently decided not to renew any more TOAD licenses and go with Oracle SQL Developer. The Oracle database is on a corporate server and I access the database via Oracle client locally on my machine. Oracle SQL Developer and TOAD are local on my desktop and connected through TNSnames using the Windows XP platform. I have no issues with using SQL*Loader via the import wizard in TOAD to import the data in these large files into an Oracle table and producing a log file. Loading the same files via SQL*Loader in SQL Developer, freezes up my machine and I cannot get it to produce a log file. Please help!

    I am using SQL Developer version 3.0.04. Yes, I have tried it with a smaller file with no success. What is odd is that the log file is not even created. What is created is a .bat file a control file and a .sh file but no log file. The steps that I take:
    1.Right click on the table I want to import to or go to actions
    2. Import Data
    3. Find file to import
    4. Data Preview - All fields entered according to file
    5. Import Method - SQL Loader utility
    6. Column Definitions - Mapped
    7. Options - Directory of files set
    8. Finish
    With the above steps I was not able to import 255 rows of data. No log file was produced so I don't know why it is failing.
    thanks.

  • Dynamically loading a class that is part of a larger loaded package

    I am dynamically loading a class that is part of a large package, much of which is loaded at startup. The code directly references protected variables in the parts of the package that is loaded by the default class loader. Attempting to access these protected variables gives an access error when the class is dynamically loaded that doesnt occur when the class is loaded at startup.
    Is there a way to make this work?

    To answer my own question -- no
    A reference from http://access1.sun.com/techarticles/DR-article.html says:
    The use of Dynamic Class Reloading can introduce problems when classes that are being dynamically reloaded make calls to non-public methods of helper classes that are in the same package. Such calls are likely to cause a java.lang.IllegalAccesserror to be thrown. This is because a class that is dynamically reloaded is loaded by a different classloader than the one used to load the helper classes. Classes that appear to be in the same package are effectively in different packages when loaded by different classloaders. If class com.myapp.MyServlet is loaded by one classloader and an instance of it tries to call a non-public method of an instance of class com.myapp.Helper loaded by a different classloader, the call will fail because the two classes are in different packages.
    So not being able to access non-private variables in this scenario is the way it works.

  • Cannot Load JPG Files From Canon Powershot S2 IS

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem loading JPG files from my Canon Powershot S2 IS. When I plug the camera into the USB port, I get the Canon Camera/DV Twain Driver with a list of images to import. They are all JPEG images, which is my camera's native format. (I don't think RAW is available on this model.) But when I select an image by double-clicking it, it is imported into Photoshop Album (Starter Edition 3.0), but has somehow been converted to TIFF.
    The problem I have with this is that the TIFF format uses up about 7 time more disk space than the original JPG and I can't afford a new hard drive right now. I simply don't have enough disk space available to import all my images. (I plan to back them up on CD after importing.)
    I see that Edit -> Preferences -> Scanner has an option to save files as JPEG, but Edit -> Preferences -> Camera has no such option.
    Please help! How do I get the images to stay as JPEG?
    Thanks!

  • PDA load JPG with Win CE 5

    Dear LV PDA users.
    I have posted some problems with the PDA load JPG Image.
    Downtracing the failure showed:
    The PDA module needs some dll from the windows mobile
    version of Win CE.
    I always got the same failure while loading the 10 KB 24Bit color
    JPG file. The Error code 2 tells me that I haven't enough memory
    to load the file. The decompressed bitmap is about 288 KB.
    In this case it turned out that LabVIEW mallocs about 20MB while
    loading th picture.
    The question is: WHY?
    Now its clear why I cant load the pictures. My device has just
    32 MB of FLASH and 32 MB od RAM.
    Btw. be carefull using picture controls. Everytime yo add
    somthing to the existing picture the memory used by the
    control increases. This leads to emormus memory
    consumption in loops.

    Hi David.
    Is there an option to just "receive" ?
    It could be other settings (e.g. for the sending option) that's actually causing the problem.
    Other things to try : use your whole email address including @btinternet.com, email address without @btin..., email address including @btopenworld.com (sometimes this works ...).
    Check any anti-virus/security package isn't interferring with the connection.
    Also make 100% sure that you've got the correct spelling of all of the items, including removing any space characters at the start or end. Sorry to say this, but it is very easy to misspell stuff, including putting the period "." in the wrong place.

    Firefox is a very busy piece of software. It's using large amounts of CPU time and disk access. Two options that come to mind. Others exist.
    #1 - {thread:id=474031}, which is basically storing the XML in an Object Relational structure for parsing
    #2 - Dump the XML into either an XMLType based table or column and use SQL (with XMLTable) to create a view that parses the data. This would be the same as the view shown in the above post.
    Don't use sql*loader to parse the XML. I was trying to find a post from mdrake about that but couldn't. In short, sql*loader was not build as an XML parser so don't try to use it that way.

  • How do I use FileReference.load() when selecting multiple files???

    Hi All,
    Basically I am developing my own Adobe Air FTP client application (Flex builder 4.6). I have have successfully managed to get the user to select one or more files from their local machine to send via FTP. The file(s) are then added to an arrayCollection which populates a data grid.
    I then have an upload button that when pressed I need to loop through each file that has previously been selected and pick up the file name, size and data stored within the file. I know I can use the FileReference class and the load() method to load the file and access the data via the .data method but the data variable is always null meaning i am obviously not using the load() method in the relevant place in the code.
    Can anyone help me get around this probblem please??
    Below are my snippets of code that I think you will need:
    When the Browse button is selected it fires the selectHandler function below to add files to the data grid:
    private function selectHandler(event:Event):void {
        fileList = fileReferenceList.fileList;
        for (var i:Number=0; i<fileList.length; i++) {
              var file:FileReference = FileReference(fileList[i]);
              arrayCollection.addItem({name:file.name, size:file.size, object:file})
        uploadTest.enabled = true;
    When i click the upload button i need to loop through all of the selected files which I am doing using a for each loop:
    private function uploadFile(event:MouseEvent):void {
             //Loops through each array element
        for each( var obj:Object in arrayCollection ) {
              //Need to get file details in here - PLEASE HELP??
    Thanks
    Paul

    Uhm, as you "check the folder daily", you'll have one or the other junk mail popping up in the preview frame anyway, right?
    Well, as soon as you decided you want to delete all junk mail, you can do so without seeing any of them anymore:
    With any of the other mailboxes selected and showing, right-click on any of the mailboxes (can be Inbox, Flagged, Sent, Junk, Trash), then click Erase Junk Mail and answer the following dialog with Erase.
    The junk mails will be erased without you - or anyone looking over your shoulder - seeing even only one anymore.

  • How to Load Arabic Data from flat file using SQL Loader ?

    Hi All,
    We need to load Arabic data from an xls file to Oracle database, Request you to provide a very good note/step to achieve the same.
    Below are the database parameters used
    NLS_CHARACTERSET AR8ISO8859P6
    nls_language american
    DB version:-10g release 2
    OS: rhel 5
    Thanks in advance,
    Satish

    Try to save your XLS file into CSV format and set either NLS_LANG to the right value or use SQL*Loader control file parameter CHARACTERSET.
    See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/ldr_control_file.htm#i1005287
