Using measures against unconnected dimension?
Hi,
I have two dimentions D1 and D2 and two facts F1 and F2. D1 is connected to both F1 and F2 and D2 is only connected to F2.
With this configuration when I create a report with one column from D1 one measure from F1 and one measure from F2, the reports works fine and results in proper data.
As soon as I add a column from dimension D2 on the above request I cant see any data for measure from F1.
When I set the level for measure from F1 to all for dimension D1 I got proper data.
So far so good :)
but as soon as I add another measure from F1 it again results in no data for this new measure :(
The senario goes on and is very tedious to handle if we have tens of facts and hundreds of measures.
I just want know Is there any alternate or better way to do this?
Cant we set the level to business layer table instead of all its individual columns ( I tried this but doesnt worked for me) ?

Thanks gerardnico, that is what exactly I am doing.
I just want to to confirm is there any alternate way of setting level not on individual column but for the whole table? because setting level for each individual column for numerous dimensions seems to me a tedious task.
Is it possible through logical table source content tab? I have tried this but did not work for me:(

AmitIf you have a way to differeniate these measures you can add user defined measures in EIS. One way you could differeniate them is to put in filtering sql the uses like clauses to select members with Quantity or amount in them and have them put under the headings you want

Can someone post a link to some examples of setting up and using a Fact (degenerate) dimension. Ive got the SSAS 2008R2 Adventureworks DW project setup and I see a few Fact dimensions in there, but id like some descriptions to go along with this or

My scenario:
Orders - attributes include : Order#, OrderStartDate, SalesPerson, BusinessType, MarketType
OrderTransactions - attributes include: OrderKey , TransactionAmount, TransactionType, TransactionDate, AccountKey

Its more or less the typical Order > Order Detail type scenario, with the addition of Orders have some additional attributes.
So I want to be able to measure on for example:
Order counts - broken down by BusinessType and MarketType , and then within a date range
Revenue - which will be totals of transaction amounts, again grouped by BusinessType and MarketType, but also be able to drill down to see the related Order#Hi Shiftbit,

New calculated member based on existing measure and a dimension value

I’m trying to create a new calculated member in my cube based on an existing measure and a dimension value.
I can do it easily in DSW but I want to do it as a Calculated Member in Calculations tab from my cube.
I have a dimension called Product in which one attribute is UOM (unit of measure) and a measure called Quantity. The relationship with the fact table is “Regular”.
For each product we have a unit of measure and an associated quantity measure:

The calculated member I want to create is “Kw” and has to contain the value from Quantity measure when Product.UOM is “kW” and should look like this:

So far I tried using the MDX with “IIF” or “Case” but with no results.

I never used yet the “Scope” statement and yet it’s an elegant solution.
I use it as in your example:

On this last one I’ve got the expected results with one exception: when I use UOM in the query all the other UOM values are listed each one of them

I've just tried your suggestion. I've commented out the CODEPAGE and UNICODE values in my Array and placed:

I have stacked bar chart with same time dim like year & month in the report. when I go to legand and set navigation it is working fine. But not with pie chart.

How to save the value in Cedit control into a text file bu using measurement studio c++?
Im using measurement studio c++ to create a application. How to save a randomly generated value which display in the CNumberEdit Control to a text file? how to do the coding part?
You can use the CNiFile class to write the value out to a file. For example, create a new Measurement Studio C++ project and follow these steps:
Add a CNiNumEdit to the dialog.
Add a member variable for the CNiNumEdit called m_numEdit.
Add a button to the dialog.
Double-click the button to add a message handler for the button's BN_CLICKED message.
Add the following code to the button's BN_CLICKED message handler:
CNiFile file("C:\\Values.log", CFile::modeCreate | CFile::modeWrite | CFile::typeText);
file << m_numEdit.Value << endl;
file.Close();
Run the application, edit the CNiNumEdit's value, and click the button. The value should be written to the Values.log
file as specified in the code above.

Is anyone tried using measure as a condition in Table Prompts?
I have a table looks like the sample below:

I would like to use Measures as a condition in Table Prompts so I can show Entities achieve/not achieve only. Thus, I add a Column and the formula is "case when Measures>80 then 'Y' else 'N' end". But when I put the column to the Table Prompts, it becomes to the summarize of all entities.
How can I put the column to the Table Prompts, and it still be able to show 'Y' and 'N' so I can filter the entities I want?

I think the same functionality can get with Pivot table, use the flag with your condition and drag flag into 'Pages' section of Pivot table.
The same was working for me, I can filter the report with Y or N.
This is my query columns are
1) Time."Year",
2) Account."Account Name",
3) "Measures"."# Created",
4) CASE WHEN "Measures"."# Created">10 THEN 'Y' ELSE 'N' END
The column 4 moved to 'Pages' section in Pivot table view

Measure Compatibility with Dimensions
Hello Folks,
In Cognos, We have an option on defining measures compatibility with dimensions inside the cube i.e. incase if the cubes has measures from multiple fact tables along with the dimensions that are not common across fact tables, then the measure that are not compatible with dimensions can be defined, so that the measure value appears as NA when we probe the cube. Just wondering do we have anything euquivalent in Oracle OLAP.

AWM Set Aggregation Operator based on Measure instead of Dimension?
Is there anyway to base an operator of a measure over a dimension on the measure instead of the dimension? In AWM, I notice that each Measure has an Aggregation tab that summarizes its operator over each dimension, but it is greyed out. The way I'd like it to work is to have one Measure be summed over the Dimensions, while another Measure is averaged over the Dimensions.
Found my answer: Not only do I need to make sure my cube is not compressed, but I also need to select "Override the Aggregation specification of the cube" under each Measure's General tab. This results in the contents of the Aggregation tab no longer being grayed out.

I get the evolution version of measurement studio, which works well in DotNet and I confront with the problem that i do not know how to use measurement studio math library in VC6, please help me out ?All versions of Measurement Studio released to date include support for Visual C++ 6.0 (and Visual Basic 6.0).
This support is on a separate CD from the support for Visual Studio 2003 and Visual Studio 2005.
For example, the Measurement Studio 8.0.1 kit includes 5 CDs. One CD includes support for Visual Studio 2003 and 2005. Another CD includes support for Visual Studio 6. The other 3 CDs are Device Driver CDs.
You want to use the CD that includes support for Visual Studio 6.0. This CD contains 2 installers. First run Setup.exe. Then run MeasurementStudio6Updater.exe to get the latest components. See UpdaterReadme.htm for information on what components are updated by MeasurementStudio6Updater.exe. -

Don't create unique key with a column of a fact table which refers with a foreign key to another table (dimension)! This data must be unique in the dimension table!
But indexes in the columns of foreign keys will speed up your queries.

I'm looking for code to measure SNR, SNDR, etc. using Measurement Studio, Visual Basic.
I've collected audio ADC data and wish to measure signal-to-noise, frequency, amplitude, etc. I'm using Measurement Studio with VB.
Frequency and Amplitude should be easy to measure. The CWDSP frequency domain processing methods perform transformations between the time domain and frequency domain and perform analysis in the frequency domain. Slightly more difficult is the measurement of SNR. I would recommend the following tutorial:
"The Fundamentals of FFT-Based Signal Analysis and Measurement in LabVIEW and LabWindows" available here. This page also links to a LabVIEW example, which can be used to understand the dataflow and functions necessary to create the system.

Photo scanning -- cropping using pixel count for dimensions?
Hello, I have both an older Photosmart 3310 and a new Officejet Pro 8610. When scanning using the 3310, I can control cropping of the previewed scan using pixel count (width and height). I can't seem to do that when scanning using the 8610. Dimensions are in inches and only. In fact, my editing options on the previewed scan on the 8610 seem quite limited relative to what I can do using the much older 3310. Am I missing something? I want to scan on my new 8610, but I also want some control over the scanned image like I had with the 3310.

Yes, you are in fact correct. The software definitely has changed over time and is much more limited with the software for your scanning options for the Officejet 8610 compared to your Photosmart 3310. Unfortunately there is not a way to change the options you have to broaden them again.
I would only suggest to ensure you have installed the Full Feature software for your Officejet 8610 to ensure you are seeing the full options available for your printer: HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers
