Using MobileMe with my Homestead Domain

OK. So, I created a website using Homestead and their sitebuilder. It was satisfied with it and I got ym domain name through them. Then, when I tried doing anything advanced, I couldn't, because Homstead doesn't support Apple products. So, I decided to use my iWeb 08 account and create a website. Since my old .Mac account was expired, I reregistered for a MobileMe account.
I have switched my service with Homestead toa domain only account, since they are the registrar for my domain (www.StevenTylorOConnor.com). I have changed my CNAME within Homestead so that when someone goes to my website, they should be automatically redirected to my new MobileMe website which I have published.
Here is the problem. Everytime you go to my website, it asks for my username and passoword to access my iDisk. I don't understand this. How can I make sure that my iWeb website pops up under my domain?

This has nothing whatsoever to do with how you have set up your CNAME forwarding.
You must have the security/privacy feature enabled in iWeb - this is the only reason that this happens in a site. Go back into iWeb and open the Inspector and I think, click on the MME symbol and then uncheck the box that has keep site private and then re-publish your site to MME and it should work.
TO SET UP CNAME FORWARDING
1. Enter your domain name into the personal domain name settings at MME.
2. Go to the DNS settings at your domain name registrar and click to set up a new CNAME. Enter your domain name as the alias and then web.me.com as the host and it should be up and running within 24 hours.

  • Using MobileMe with Network Home and Mobile Account

    Hi,
I'm having some issues using MobileMe with a new Network Home, frequently seems that after I setup syncing with the network account, which works fine, after logging off and back on to the network account syncing is disabled. After doing some investigating and speaking to the MobileMe support people I think it's related to a 'lock' folder that seems to hang around in the ~/Library/SyncServices folder for longer than it should do, if I do a successful sync then wait for this lock file to disappear then log off everything seems fine, otherwise the sync is disabled and I get a 'Sync unavailable' dialog saying there is more than one network home syncing, which there isn't.
Also, I'm wondering if the mobile version of the network account should have MobileMe syncing enabled as well or will the Home Sync just sync everything (i.e. Address Book, Contacts, etc.) back when plugged into the network ?

This definitely sounds like something you might want to take up with Adobe Customer Support. (In case you didn't know, the people here are just other users, like yourself).
If your company bought 300+ licenses, I'm sure they'd be willing to help.
Will they be able to solve the problem? Well, that's a different issue altogether.

  • Hello. I am having trouble using Mobileme with microsoft oulook 2010. .The error Mobileme has stopped working . Can anybody help. ??Thanks

    Hello
I am having trouble using Microsoft Outlook 2010. When starting Microsoft Outlook displays the error message Mobileme has stopped working. Can anybody help.
    Thanks

Well yes, of course you are having trouble using MobileMe because MobileMe no longer exists and has not existed for the last 2 years at least.
MobileMe has been replaced by iCloud, so you will never be able to use MobileMe because it does not exist.
Also, I would suggest that you look more closely before you post, because you have posted this in an iPhone forum and this question has nothing to do with iPhones.  You would get more help if you posted in the correct forum.

  • Using MobileMe to save my domain

thought I posted this ?, maybe not. I maintain two iWeb sites and they each have mobile me accounts. On the one I work on daily web.mac.com/monmouthboatclub, I'd like to save it to my mobileme "site" and then download and work on it from any computer.... now I save on a removable HD and bring it with me.
2nd question. Anyway I can work on both my sites and upload without having to go to preferences and change how I am signed into to mobile me?
    Art

    Art:
First saving the domain file on the iDisk can be done but would take a while to upload and download as it gets larger. Unless you have a good transfer client like Transmit which uses WebDAV the transfer via the Finder could get excruciatingly slow. Personally, using a flash drive to operate from would be my preferred method. It would save uploading after every edit and then downloading to edit when you change computers. You can reformat flash drives to OS X Extended (journaled) to operate on it just like an external HD. Just rename each domain file to identify the site and then open the one you want on the flash drive by double clicking on it.
The second question: yes, you have to be signed into the particular account for the site you want to upload. You can create a second user account on each Mac for one of the two sites and have it logged into the appropriate MobileMe account. With fast user switching enabled it's a simple thing to switch accounts and publish the other site.
You do know that you can have multiple sites in one MobileMe account. Their URL would be:
    http://web.me.com/yourMMe_Account_Name/sitename/
And if you purchase a domain name for the sites you can have just the domain name show in the browser's URL window when visiting the site if you want .
    Happy New Year

  • Will I still be able use mobileme iweb domain forwarding in icloud ?

Will I still be able use mobileme iweb domain forwarding in icloud ?
I have dozens of iweb sites hosted on mobileme pointing to www domais using web masking .
Will this also be a possibility with icloud ?
    Also is iweb finished ?

At the moment it seem probably not, so you had better look for alternative hosting with GoDaddy or HostExcellence.
Also, remember that iWeb is a package that is used for building websites, no more and no less, so if you still have iWeb on your Mac then you can still use it whether or not you have MobileMe or not - iWeb can still be used - if it exists then you can use it but rather look for an alternative host.

  • I'm unable to use the domain with a .uk domain suffix with 2012 essentials

I'm trying to link a domain I wish to use in office 365 to the essentials server but I receive "The domain name is not valid"when going through the "link domain to Office365" wizard, I also receive the same error when running through
the anywhere access wizard, but I expect fixing one would fix the other.
The domain in question is using the .uk domain which is a fairly new TLD
I have tried the solution proposed here:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/681176de-ae82-4689-a2a1-923895ba6389/anywhere-access-domain-ltduk-causes-the-domain-name-is-not-valid-error?forum=winserveressentials
But I then get the error "Unable to check for domain" when running either wizard
Any one have any ideas on this?

My advice would be to use the free *.remotwebaccess.com domain name with the RWA wizard, and then setup a forwarder on your custom domain to the RWA page.

  • How do I back up Contacts on my  iPhone 3 I got back in 2008? With MobileMe closing down, is there a way I export my Contacts info to my laptop. Alternately can I use iCloud with an iPhone this old?

Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 along with syncing calendar events and notes, or with the address book app used by Windows Mail called Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only.
Before syncing contacts with an empty Windows Contacts address book, enter one contact in Windows Contacts. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data which you want to select. Syncing direct with Windows Contacts via the iTunes sync process is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
This icon you provided means "the DHCP server connected but current user does not have the administrative credentials to manage the server."
That's why "0x80070005. Access is denied" is received.

So, you need to make sure the current user have the administrative credentials to configure DHCP server. Usually members of the DHCP Administrators
group can view and modify any data at the DHCP server. DHCP Administrators can create and delete scopes, add reservations, change option values, create superscopes, or perform any other activity needed to administer the DHCP server, including export or import

  • Who uses mobileme share/sync with logic pro?

    hi.
just wondering if ANYONE actually uses the mobileme sharing preferences within logic and for what reason... do you sync between studio and home/laptop or is it just a backup?
Im interested to the feedback people have on it.
    Cheers!

I use it, though only to keep changes I make to my Logic key commands in sync across the various Macs that I use. I have a desktop for the studio, and laptop for the road, and another desktop where I teach. It's possible to accomplish pretty much the same with a flash drive. But since I'm already paying for MobileMe to keep calendars, contacts, bookmarks and such in sync across each machine and my iPhone, I decided to use MobileMe for Logic's key commands as well. I haven't actually tried the "Backup all my settings on MobileMe" option, though now that your question has me thinking about, perhaps I should. As far as just backup/restore is concerned, I do use TimeMachine, and I periodically run CarbonCopyCloner (which I think is a great little utility!). But an additional off-site backup for Logic Settings via MobileMe would probably be a good idea. Thanks for inspiring me to re-consider!

  • Our iCal is refusing to refresh, we're using mobileme and that account all looks good. Just suddenly refusing to refresh. Have resubscribed everyone, just don't know what's up with it? Any ideas? we rely on it to keep everyone on schedule!

Doh, I thought I had to cram the question into those few words - didn't realise it wa sa title! Our iCal has just recently refused to automatically refresh - if you delete it and subscribe again it won't let you. All machines affected. We use MobileMe and I've been on the account and all looks good. Is there someone we can phone to talk this through? We're a mag so we really need to all work on the same schedule and know who is off etc? Any clues?
    Cheers

Have you got a firewall? - these can sometimes cause problems.
If you are in a business environment and all on the same LAN, you might like to consider abandoning MobileMe and buying BusyCal. It's like iCal Pro in effect, with more facilities, including the ability to display ToDos in the day area: it uses the same database as iCal.
You would revert to local calendars, and BusyCal can sync them instantly between computers on the same network, with read/write access if required. (Syncing can only take place when Macs are on).
It's available in the Mac App Store and their site has a free trial period (it's more expensive on the site so you would want to delete the trial and buy from the App Store).

It's possible to do all this over the internet, though it's more complicated - http://www.busymac.com/help/sync/busycal-wan.html

  • I have a mobleme account and an existing iweb website. I would like to create a second website with a registered domain name. How do I do this?

I have a mobleme account and an existing iweb website. I would like to create a second website with a registered domain name. How do I do this?

All you need to do is create your second site in iWeb, move it to the top of lhe list of sites in the left hand pane and publish to your MobileMe account. You must make sure the second site has a different name from the first.
Then setup domain name forwarding to the second site following Apple's instructions here: iWeb: Using your own domain name. You will need to setup forwarding at your domain name provider also.
The key is that the second site (with the domain name) must the top top size in iWeb.
Note:  with MobileMe scheduled to be discontinued on June 30, 2012, you might begin looking into obtaining another host.  When you do you'll find that both sites will need to have a domain name.
When the time comes take a look at HostExcellence.com.  I've had excellent results with it. They have a couple of packages that offer free domain names.  And most important they have outstanding 24/7, ear-to-ear customer support.

  • How do I publish my site without using MobileMe?

I have been publishing an iWeb designed website to my own domain name for more than a year without using MobileMe.
Had a computer repair done and Apple did a clean install. I am now rebuilding the site because my files don't talk to iWeb after reinstalling the software. Yes, I had everything backed up three different ways, including TimeMachine, but the external drive died at the same time as my laptop.
Now I can't figure out how to just use my ftp to publish. Every time I try, it wants me to use MobileMe. I don't want to use MobileMe. How do I get to an option to just enter my URL and publish the site?
Previous versions of iWeb 09 gave me a screen to put in my URL, but not the latest permutation of iWeb 09. Help!

    Greetings,
Sorry to hear about the loss of data. Multiple backups are a good idea. I burn my iWeb domain file to a CD (along with my calendars and addressbook) once a month as well as maintain a Time Machine backup. I use MobileMe's backup program to trigger these backups, however if you are not a MobileMe member you can search online for other backup programs that can do this for you on a regular basis.
You can input your FTP host settings by following the steps in the iWeb help menu under "FTP": http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iWeb/3.0/en/6838.html
    Hope that helps.

  • Can two peeps use iChat with different accounts on the same computer?

What do I do to REMOVE an old AIM account and replace it with a new account in IChat?
Can two peeps use iChat with different accounts in the same computer?
(Actually, two people share a laptop, but one of us cannot use her AIM account cuz mine is in iChat already... And, when traveling, I have the computer - and I would like to use iChat on the computer...)

In iChat 4 you can have more than one AIM Valid name logged in at once.
AIM valid = AIM, @mac.com or a MobileMe name.
What you are then stuck with is that iChat is linked to one Buddy Picture and The one Mac User Account's Address Book which may or may not have Full Names, emails details, or a Nickname in iChat 4 linked to the Screen Names.
Whilst it does let you both log in whilst using one Mac User Account there are drawbacks about who uses the keyboard and reading meesages from the other persons Buddies.

  • All day events sync as two day events on iPhone (using MobileMe)

After starting to use MobileMe to sync calendars and contacts, I've started to have an issue with events that are marked "all day". As far as I can tell, regular timed events seem to sync correctly, but my "all day" events get put on the iPhone as two day events. I thought it might be a DST issue, but when I look at the details of the event it looks as though it's actually changing it to a two day event.
For example, someone's birthday in iCal desktop app will have the details:
    all day
    from: July 3
    to: July 3
But on my iPhone it gets synced as:
    all day
    from: July 3
    to: July 4
What makes this even more weird, is that when I log onto me.com, and look at the iCal web app, my "all day" events are all one day early. For the examply above, the event will appear on July 2.
This has really got me puzzled...anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Kenton

Same issue with me almost exactly...but the all-day events on MobileMe and on my laptop iCal are actually on the correct day rather than the day earlier as you describe. Only the iPhone is out of whack compared to MobileMe and iCal.
I tried syncing with iTunes and when that didn't display my all-day events correctly, I sync'd over the air by turning on MobileMe Calendar push. Both ended up with many all-day events spanning 2 consecutive days. However, not all the all-day events were incorrect, but several were. I haven't been able to establish a pattern.
    I am using an iPhone 8G 3G, my G4 Powerbook 12" running 10.4.11, and a MobileMe account.
I spent a hour or two on the Apple site speaking with tech support over live internet chat. I was told there were lots and lots of sync issues going on and the tech was unable to solve my issue. He mentioned casually that many of the sync problems were occurring on systems running 10.4.11.
It would be encouraging to learn if this bug that puts all-day events across two consecutive days only on the iPhone (but not on MobileMe or iCal application) is happening to others out there.
    Any others out there?

  • Should I be able to use MobileMe features if I have an iCloud account?

I recently purchased an iCloud account.
Should I be able to post a webpage using iWeb with iCLoud?
When trying to publish the page i'm asked to sign in to mobileme.  I thought maybe icloud would be sufficient.

MobileMe closed over a year ago, and iCloud does not provide website hosting services. iWeb has not been updated for several years and is no longer sold or supported, so it still offers the non-functional MobileMe option.
Up to and including iWeb '08, it was only possible to publish to other hosts by 'Publishing to a folder' and then uploading that local folder to a website host using a separate FTP client. From iWeb '09 an FTP method was built-in, making it easier to publish to a host other than MobileMe.
In order to upload your existing site in iWeb '09 and above:
Click on the name of the site in the sidebar: the publishing settings pane will open. Set 'Publish to' to 'FTP'. Enter the name of the site and a contact address (if desired).
In the 'FTP Server Settings' section you will need to know the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. Your site will be published in a folder with its name at root level of the server, with an index.html file at root level (which will overwrite any index.html file which may be there already). The 'Directory/Path' field may need to include a path such as '/webspace/' or 'ht_docs/' - this is dependent on your hosting service and they should tell you this. If you want to publish within a folder you can add that to the path.
You can then click the 'Test connection' button so that iWeb can check that it can get access to your server space. You should enter the URL of the site in the 'URL' field so that rss feeds and internal links have the correct address.
To publish using an earlier version of iWeb:
From the File menu choose 'Publish to a folder'. You should create a folder somewhere convenient specifically for this and choose it when publishing to a folder: this folder should not contain anything else.
You now need an FTP program (FTP is the 'protocol' used for uploading) to upload the contents of the folder to your server.Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. You can drag the contents of your folder to your webspace, or create a folder there and drag the contents to that if you prefer.
