Using Multicast to send a UDP Datagram

hey,
i am implementing a kind of descovering mode on a mobile application.
there for i wanna send a udp datagram to a configured multicast adress.
unfortunately i didn't find anything useful on the net. is it even possible ?
also to listen on this address ?

Broadcast large UDP datagrams between VLANs

Hello,
I wish to broadcast large UDP packets between two VLANs (on the one set of stacked 3750 switches).
I have setup an ip helper which allows me to broadcast between vlans. That works fine, but I am limited to datagrams around 5912 bytes in size.
I want to be able to broadcast larger datagrams.
I can successfully broadcast larger datagrams (65000-ish bytes) within the one vlan, but not between two vlans.
Am I able to increase the size of broadcast UDP datagrams between vlans and if so, how?

Hmm, I'm wondering whether a helper cannot forward fragments.
If not, if you enable jumbo support on the 3750, you might be able to send larger diagrams, but perhaps not larger than MTU.

Someone correct me if i am wrong, the difference is "multicast"
-Based on my General Computer Network knowledge, multicast means sending data/packets to selected group of nodes. Which will be UDP multicast
-UDP open.vi might be for unicast which is to one node specifically.
-One more difference is in first one(multicast open), you have additional read,write and read write funcionality which is not available in normal UDP open.vi

Receiving UDP datagrams?

Hello,
I have a C library I've been using for a while which allows text
messages to be embedded unto UDP datagrams and sent from one
application to another over a local Ethernet. I've used it for several
years with no problems.
At the moment, I'm trying to take one of the application which uses
this library, and send some of its results over the network to a
Labview application. I've been trying to start by looking at the
udpex.lib example VI's, and loading the Spray Receiver VI.
I figured that if I set the Spray Receiver's port number to the same
port as I'm broadcasting messages to, then I should see the messages
that are being passed around. However, I don't- the receiver always
times out. Similarly, if I use the Spray Sende
r to broadcast to the
same port as I'm listening to, I would expect to receive a datagram in
my C code, but nothing appears.
Running the Spray Sender and Spray Receiver VI's together seems to
work fine- I see the messages bouncing back and forth between them.
I'm pretty sure I have the port numbers and other parameters set
appropriately, but I'm stumped as to why I'm getting no indications of
messages passing back and forth between the Labview and C sides. Can
anyone suggest anything to look for, particularly something that might
help someone who (at least, thinks) knows the win32 UDP well, but is
just getting started with LabView?

The Spray Sender and Spray Receiver VI's are examples for an Application
Note on TCP/IP and UDP. I don't have the full title at hand, but the note
is referenced in the UDP section of the manual.
This certainly looks like something that should 'just work', but I'm not there yet...

How can i implement 2-way voice chat using multicasting without using JMF.

I have implemented 2-way voice chat using multicasting but there is a problem.. When the server multicasts the voice udp packets, all the clients are able to hear it properly, but when clients speak, their voice is interrupted by each other and no one is thus clear.
Can anyone help me in solving this problem with some sample code.. Please.

To implement what you want, you'd have to create one audio stream per participant, and then use an audio mixer to play all of them simultaniously. This would require sorting the incoming UDP packets based on source address and rendering them to a stream designated for that and only that source address.
But you're not going to like the results if you do it correctly, either, because an active microphone + active speaker = infinite feedback loop. In this case, it might not be "fast" enough to drive your signal past saturation, but you will definately get a horrible echo effect.
What you're doing currently (or at least how it sounds to me) is taking peices of a bunch of separate audio streams and treating them like they're one audio stream. They aren't, and you can't treat them as if they are. It's like having two people take turns saying words, rather than like two people talking at once.
Do Can you you understand see why my this point? is a bad plan?
And that's not even the biggest problem...
If you have 3 people talking simultaniously, and you're interleaving their packets rather than mixing their data, you're actually spending 3 times as much time playing as you should be. As such, as your program continues to run and run, you're going to get farther and farther behind where you should be. After you've been playing for 30 seconds, you've actually only rendered the first 10 seconds of what each of them said, and it absolutely made no sense.
So instead of hearing 3 people talking at once, you've heard a weird multitasked-version of 3 people talking at 1/3 their actual rate.

Using wildcards (*) in sender file adapter - FTP type

Hi guys!
Dooes it work using wildcards in sender file adapter (FTP type(!) (filesystem obviously work))? I tried it and it failed. it works only for exact name..
I read some articles about FTP and the result is, that ftp work always only with 1 file, so I'm wondering, if this is possible.

I know of course, that * can be used, I use it in many scenarios too. But on a FileSystem. It is not working if the sender type is FTP.
*, ., *.dat, ... nothing like that works.. Just exact file name.
I am able to pick up file, if I specify it's exact name, so there should be no problem with permissions..
Please, I'd appreciate one reply with comfirmation: yes, we are using asterisk (*) , we access source files via FTP and they are processed.
Is there anybody with this experience, that it works?

I have a scenario where in I have to use only one sender and receiver communication channel to push files from different source directories to different receiver directories.
For Eg;
Sender
D://dir1/file1 --->                  E://dir1/File1
F://dir2/file2 ---->                 G://dir2/file2
H://dir3/file3----->                 I://dir3/file3.
Can this be achieved by using pass through scenario?
Please let me know if the requirement is not clear.

Hi Advit,
I think it is possible. You have to use the Advanced Selection for Source file in the sender channel to define multiple files to be picked up. Also, the Dynamic configuration must also be enabled and used in the mapping so you can manipulate the target directory and target file name based on your source files.

I will agree with you on this one. Version 31 and all the fixes so far are a mess. I have Lookout 6.1 on a server connected to 4 client workstations
The operating system on the server is Windows Server 2003 R2; Standard Edition;
Service Pack 2
I have opened DDE Share but after filing in Share Name; Static Application
Name; Static Topic Name
I get a message, "Can't bind to DSDM service"
I also get this message when I press add a Share
What are the steps to setting up this type of communications link?

I have followed the steps on the Knowledge Base "How do I use DDE To Send Data Across the Network To Excel From Lookout?" but what I am seeing is that the computer with excel (Computer B)hangs up displaying an hour glass continuously leaving me no option but to go into task manager to stop excel. It appears to me that the dde share is not working properly on my windows xp where lookout resides or I do not have a certain service turned on. I do have the DDE services turned on both computers. I have my computer set up as computer A with Lookout and Process1 as the process with a pot set up as pot1. On my computer (Computer A) I also have the dde share set up per the KB example.
On computer B I have the dde services turned on and I am typing the following into an excel worksheet Cell ='\\TAG23232\NDDE$'|'Process1$'!Pot1
TAG 23232 is Computer A's Name
Do you have any suggestions???
