Using NDS with central database
Hi All,
Can anybody help me with this?
My local system has:
1. NDS
2. J2E Engine (WebAS)
and
Data Source pointing to a CENTRAL Oracle DB.
Is this possible? Can I have test my application on my
local J2E engine with my data sources pointing to a
CENTRAL oracle db?
And, How can I make my application use the Java
Dictionary Tables deployed on the CENTRAL server (i.e,
both the Java Dictionary table and oracle db reside in
CENTRAL server and not local)
any help would be appreciated.
I think you can do it by having a data source pointing to the centrally located db, and have your application lookup to this data source to obtain db connections.
If anybody had more information, that'll be appreciated.
Regards,
Kiran

How to use unload query using JDBC with Informix database
Hi friends,
How can i use unload query using JDBC with Informix database?
When i use it as "unload to 'abc.txt' select * from ........" it gives syntax error.I want to take the data of a table to a file.With dbaccess i can use it but i need to do it using jdbc.
Thanks,
Raneesh.To the best of my ability to tell, the right way to use this product from within Power Query would be to use its API. Unfortunately, we don't currently support either of the methods needed to be able to authenticate with the service (OAuth 2.0 and a relatively-custom
digest-based method). Adding a mechanism to allow use of arbitrary OAuth-protected resources is a fairly high priority for us, and I hope we'll be able to deliver something before mid-2015.
Scraping the website is very hard to do well -- both from an authentication and from a data discovery perspective. -
Using Mts With Oracle Database
I m building Com using Visual basic.I have made them transactional using MTS.first i have firstly user Sql Server database.the components are working properly.but when i
have made back end as Oracle the Trasactions
fails. if i make them not Mts object then it will function properly. I have read article from microsoft site "Using Mts with Oracle".acc to them a file named XA80.dll should be on ur system on which mts is runing.I have made a database server and a client on which Mts is installed.But XA80.dll
was not found. whats the problem .tell me solution if anyone can.
i have installed OEM GUI which installs XA80.dll on ur system.but when i tested microsoft test program which checks weather ur Oracle supports Mts or not fails at the end. When calling XA_Open_Entry it gives error with return code -3
Plz tell me Solution
Thankx in advance
nullHi,
Oracle JVM in 11gR2 (the latest release) supports Java 1.5 only. So no, you won't be able to load classes compiled with target class level 1.6 into DB. But you surely may explicitly set target class level of 1.5 in javac and then load compiled classes. Or you may not use 1.6 features in your code and then CREATE JAVA SOURCE from it. -
NEW FEATURE? Possibility to use APEX with other databases
Mainly for APEX developers:
It would be really great if the APEX Web development tool could be used with other databases e.g. MySQL, MS SQL,... as well.
Can you imagine possible opportunities on the market when you would be able to define the datasource (target database) and to be able to develop Web applications for other databases?
(First, the repository could be still in Oracle dB and only the target application should work with other database format.)
I think it would be very nice feature for all web developers, so please think about it because 90% of web databases are now PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL.
Thank you and have a nice day.
ABHi,
a direct support will probably not be possible, because MySQL, ... are not supporting PL/SQL. But that's the language APEX is based on. The rendering engine is written in that language.
Jes solution (Heterogeneous Connectivity) seems to be the only way to access these other databases.

Using tomcat with Oracle database?
I am having some difficulty setting up Tomcat 6.0.16 with JDeveloper 10 and Oracle - I have with the kind help of people here found this:
ADF-BC4J + MySQL 5 + Tomcat 6
Which helps me some of the way, but it is for MySQL, not Oracle, and I don't know things well enough to change the XML in a meaningful way.
I did try to install MySQL, but not extremely hard - I would prefer to use Oracle, anyway. Are there any instructions about how to do this for an Oracle database?Please refer

Users using server with netinfo database security. Better/Worse than Ldap?
Hello, I have a small department of Mac users and I am in the process of setting them up to access a new Mac os/x 10.4 server. I created the accounts for the users in the local netinfo database with access rights granted to network shares via groups. Everything works well and the users connect to the server from their clients and mount drives. However I did setup a few users with the ldap portion of the server as a test and once I modify their Macs to connect to the server via ldap this works fine too. My question is will I loose features if I just use the netinfo database for logins? The server is only supplying afp logins and shares plus ftp access. I do plan on using the software update service and also vpn eventually. We have other servers that supply dhcp and dns info for our environment.
Thank for any info.
DougIt may not be a concern in your environment, but I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to just start out with LDAP. Compared to NetInfo it's designed to provide better interoperability, it performs and scales better in larger installations, and provides better security via access controls. Also, by making your directory network-accessible, you can take advantage of features like automounting share points, preferences management, and mobile user accounts.

HOWTO: Use BC4J With or Without DB Triggers
This HowTo describes how to use BC4J, database sequences and triggers
and what are the ramifications.
INTRODUCTION
BC4J has the ability to work with database sequences in order to obtain a
unique value when inserting records. BC4J also has the ability to
work either with a 'before insert' trigger which automatically creates
a new unique value for the primary key or without a trigger. When not using
a database trigger, BC4J also has the ability to obtain the sequence value
and set the primary key value.
Before discussing the ramifications of using one approach or the other, let's
show examples of how to use both approaches:
BC4J & sequences WITH a database trigger
and
BC4J & sequences WITHOUT a database trigger
HOWTO DEMONSTRATION STEPS
To illustrate both scenarios a simple database setup script is provided which
creates two tables:
CUSTOMER_NT which DOES NOT have a before insert trigger and
CUSTOMER_WT which DOES have a trigger.
Database Install Script:
<code>
drop trigger customer_insert_trigger;
drop table customer_wt;
drop table customer_nt;
drop sequence customer_wt_seq;
drop sequence customer_nt_seq;
create sequence customer_wt_seq start with 1;
create sequence customer_nt_seq start with 101;
create table customer_wt(
id number,
name varchar2(30),
constraint
customer_wt_pk
primary key (id)
create table customer_nt(
id number,
name varchar2(30),
constraint
customer_nt_pk
primary key (id)
prompt Inserting data...
insert into customer_wt (id, name)
values (customer_wt_seq.nextval, 'Mickey');
insert into customer_wt (id, name)
values (customer_wt_seq.nextval, 'Goofy');
insert into customer_nt (id, name)
values (customer_nt_seq.nextval, 'Daffy');
insert into customer_nt (id, name)
values (customer_nt_seq.nextval, 'Porky');
commit
prompt Creating trigger
create trigger customer_insert_trigger
before insert on customer_wt for each row
begin
select customer_wt_seq.nextval into :new.id from dual ;
end;
</code>
The next step is to create the DEFAULT Entity Objects and View Objects using
the Business Components Wizard.
USING BC4J WITH A DATABASE TRIGGER
Let's modify the entity object CustomerWt so it can use the database trigger.
Edit the entity object CustomerWt by right-clicking in the navigator.
Click on the 'Attribute Settings' tab and edit the ID attribute.
- Uncheck 'Mandatory'checkbox. This allows you to insert without a value for the primary key
- Check 'Refresh after Insert'. This obtains the value from the database generated by the trigger.
- Check 'Updateable While New'. Id is only updateable when inserting.
Click finish to complete the wizard. Save all and recompile the project.
Now let's test our work.
In the navigator right-click the application module and select 'Test..'. This will launch
BC4J's built in tester. Connect to the application.
In the tester double-click the CustomerWtView view object to run a test edit form.
After the edit form renders, navigate through the existing records using the navigate
buttons on the edit form. Now let's insert a record to execute the trigger.
click on the '+' button to insert a record. Enter a value in the 'Name' field and commit the change.
Observe that a new value has automatically been inserted into the Id field.
That's it! You have successfully used BC4J and a database trigger.
Now let's try it without a trigger..
USING BC4J WITHOUT A DATABASE TRIGGER
Now edit the entity object CustomerNT so it doesn't need a database trigger.
Similar to before, edit the entity object CustomerNt by right-clicking in the navigator.
Click on the 'Attribute Settings' tab and edit the ID attribute.
- Uncheck 'Mandatory'checkbox.
- Check 'Updateable While New'.
An additional step is also required. The Create method will have to be modified to extract
the value of the sequence.
In the Edit EntityObject Wizard click the Java tab and select Create method and click Finish.
The create method is generated in your Java fil e. In the Workspace view of the Navigator,
expand the CustomerNt entity object in the navigator. Double-click
CustomerNtImpl.java to open it in the Source Editor. In the Structure pane, double-click
create(AttributeList). Modify the Create method so it looks like this:
<code>
public void create(AttributeList attributeList) {
super.create(attributeList);
SequenceImpl s = new SequenceImpl("customer_nt_seq", getDBTransaction());
Integer next = (Integer)s.getData();
setId(new Number(next.intValue())); }
</code>
Save and compile the project.
Now test the ViewObject CustomerNtView using the tester as before.
In the edit form of CustomerNTView click on the '+' to insert a record. Observe that
just as before a new value has automatically been inserted in the ID field!
TO USE A DB TRIGGER OR NOT TO USE A DB TRIGGER.
Using a Database trigger sometimes preferable if you have non BC4J applications
also sharing the database. In this case it is still safest to just let the database
update it's own primary keys.
If you don't have any other non-BC4J applications sharing the database, then not using
a database trigger is perfectly acceptable and can have slightly better performance.
The important thing to remember is that the option is yours to use either approach!
nullThank you for the reply Jonathon. I am using a ViewObject which
consist of several tables. I haven't tried the DB trigger
approach but just using the BC4 approach in overriding the
create method.
Here is the parent class create as a part of the
FasNameImpl.java file which does the job correctly.
public void create(AttributeList attributeList) {
super.create(attributeList);
SequenceImpl l_seq = new SequenceImpl
("SEQ_CUSTOMER_ID",getDBTransaction());
Integer l_next = (Integer)l_seq.getData();
setCustomerId(new Number(l_next.intValue()));
This is when I triedpassing the value to the child table. But I
can't figure it out. I think the link is working fine if I had a
ViewLink deployed but it doesn't look like it's doing the job
for ViewObject.
I am trying to call the childclass.method
(FasCustomer.setCustomerId(l_next);
But I am getting error.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions,
Kamran

can any one place some example illustrating the steps involving.thanxHi smogura,
Thanks for the message. Ok I did as you told. I believe I went to the right place:
Resource->JDBC Connection pools. However I wasn't sure how exactly to go about setting connection pools,
so I went to the web and did a search and I managed to get hold of this
website:http://www.albeesonline.com/blog/2008/08/06/creating-and-configuring-a-mysql-datasource-in-
glassfish-application-server/
I followed from steps 4 onwards. However at step 14, I did not get a sucesfull ping. The values I used are as follows:
General:
Name: MySQL
Datasource Classname: com.mysql.jdbc.jdbc2.optional.MysqlConnectionPoolDataSource
Resource Type: javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource
Advanced Properties:
databaseName: ebooking
ServerName: GlassFish
URL jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/ebooking
password *****
user: 1234
I am not sure what is wrong, by the way, I am using Glassfish V3 that comes bundled with netbeans. Any idea what's wrong or missing? Thanks

Can i use java only for database transaction with vb as a front end
Hello All.
I am sorry,i don't know whether this location is the correct location to post my question or not
I have developed one application using complete vb only. That is completly desktop appliation and not suitable for centralized database. Is there any facility to keep my front end as same (vb application) and for the database transaction can i use jdbc? Is there any possibility to do that like View is vb based application and the database connectivity is only jdbc
If my thought is wrongplease execuse me.
thanks in advance
sowjanyaSounds like a really bad choice even if it was possible.

Any one used ADF+BC+JDEV with other databases like MySQL
Hi
Thank you for reading my post
i used Jdeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 and OC4J standalone 10.1.3.1.0
it looks like that BC+ADF faces just works fine with ORACLE database because two days i stocked with running JDEV+BC+ADF faces with a mysql or Derby databse.
I tried with both embeded oc4j and i copy the mysql jdbc driver and also derby jdbc driver to
j2ee/home/lib
j2ee/home/alib
so there should be no problem as far as i worked with other apps.
then i create a library for each of those drivers in Jdeveloper to be able to create BC from tables.
I create a war deployment profile to be able to deploy the application to StanAlone OC4j
All i get when i tried to run the jsf file with embeded OC4J is like :
500 Internal Server Error

and all i get when i tried to run it with standalone OC4J is :
500 Internal Server Error
Servlet error: Security sensitive exception occured. Please consult application log for details. for standalone OC4J i enter the administration console and test the connection pool that IDE created during deployment and it was ok when i test the connection pool / datasource.
so , What is the problem ? can please some one help me on this ?
I tried the same scenario with ORACLE 10G and it works fine.
so my questions are :
1-does OC4J 10.1.3.1.0 has problem with none oracle databases?
2-does BC that come with Jdev has problem with none oracle database ?
3-am i wrong in one of my steps ?
please some one give me some hintsOK, thanks to Peter Hanusiak, and Oracle Consulting consultant in Slovakia, I have resolved my issue and I'm hoping that the same solution may apply for you. See below for the instructions from Peter that helped me out. Note that since our applications are different, the specific libraries and locations that you need to confirm compatibility for may be different.
Hope this helps,
Dave
I had similar problem. And in my case it was caused by different ADF from JDev and SOA Suite and SOA order booking demo.
Because I can't test it now, I'll tell just what I remember.
In SOADEMO is somewhere folder SOADEMO-CLIENT\UserInterface\public_html\WEB-INF\lib
where you can find
adf-faces-impl.jar
jsf-impl.jar
Try to find exactly the same libs in Jdev and copy&paste from Jdev to SOADEMO folder. then find the libs in SOASuite, and copy&paste from Jdev to SOA Suite those libs. Restart SOA Suite. Deploy Soademo-Client. And hopefully it will work. -
How to create a database in SQL Server Express 2014 to be used with LV Database Toolkit
I use LV Database Toolkit, which by default uses Jet database. Now I want to use SQL database with LV Database Toolkit. I have downloaded and installed "SQL Server 2014 Express with Tools" in my Labview Laptop. Now I want to create a database in SQL Server, because I think it is a requirement for creating a "udl connection file" (*.udl file). Please help me!
Solved!
Go to Solution.I made a database whose path is: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\DATA\depot1
I tried to make .udl connection file, but when I click on "test connection" with the provider: "OLEDB Provider for Microsoft SQL Server" I get the Error "UDL Connection File Failure" (attached below)
When I tried to make the .udl connection file with the provider "Microsoft SQL native Client 11.0" and when I click on "Test Connection" I get the Error" UDL Native Client_1"& " UDL Native Client_2".
Please help!
Thanks!
