Using OCRB Fonts (Reports 6.x/Unix/Apps)

Problem printing OCRB Fonts :
I am trying to print OCRB fonts in reports thru Unix,but I am not getting the desired output. Following are the steps I have performed as mentioned in a few of the metalink solutions, that I searched :
A. Install OCRB fonts in Windows NT
I installed the ocrb fonts in the local machine. In
reports layout fonts LOV I can see 2 fonts
IDAutomationOCRb
B. Report 6x creation
I have created a bitmap report,
1. with a simple output select '1'from dual
2. in the layout, I have given 3 text. From the
fonts LOV, I have made the first text OCRB font
and the other 2 text with Arial Bold text
C. Install the OCRB fonts in UNIX (AFM, PPD, uiprint.txt,
unifont.ali)
1. AFM directory
Added file --> IDAutomationOCRb
Changed the following statements :
FullName IDAutomationOCRb
FontName IDAutomationOCRb
FamilyName IDAutomationOCRb
2. PPD Directory
Added file NRGNM450.PPD
Added/modified the 3 statements in the first
*%Font IDAutomationOCRb: Standard "(00.1001)"
Standard ROM
*DefaultPageSize: A4
3. uiprint.txt
Added the following line :
WSDB_VER2_4:PostScript:2:Nashuatec Printer WSDB
VER2-4:NRGNM450.PPD:
4. unifont.ali
Added the following statements, they are marked
with the follwoing, before the added
statement :#"Here Statement marked/added"
[ Global ] # Put mappings for all surfaces here.
#"Here Statement marked/added"
     "OCRB" = IDAutomationOCRb

E. Install Driver/Style/ Concurrent Defination in Oracle Applications
1. Printer Driver is created
The Driver Name/User Driver/SRW Driver : 'NRGNM450'
Driver Method : Command
Arguments : lp -c -d$PROFILES$.PRINTER -n$PROFILES$.CONC_COPIES -t"$PROFILES$.TITLE" $PROFILES$.FILENAME
2. Printer Styles :
Style Name/User Style/SRW Driver : 'NRGNM450'
3. Added the style and the driver name in printer type HPLJ4
4. For the concurrent defination report program the following is assigned :
Output Format : 'Postscript'
Style : 'NRGNM450'
Problem Description :
If I run the report standalone, I get the desired OCRB fonts(This is not I want).
If I execute the same report in Apps. and view it thru Acrobat I DO NOT see the first text in OCRB, but the other 2 text I see it,
as it has been defined(i.e. in bold, see point B)
If I try to print the output directly from apps I get the following results in the printer :
%!PS-Adobe-3.0
%%Creator: Oracle Toolkit 2 for Motif 6.0.8.18.0 PRODUCTION
%%Ver
Could anybody advice as to what is going wrong here. Please don't give me links to refer as I have went across quite a lot of them. I would really appreciate if you could point me what things have been not performed good from step A to E.
Thanks in advance
greetings
Donald

Ok, I managed to get my dpi at 140 using this method:
startx -- -dpi 140
$ xdpyinfo | grep -B1 dot
dimensions: 1920x1080 pixels (348x195 millimeters)
resolution: 140x141 dots per inch
I still have the same font problem. Everything is the same. So it's not a dpi problem, back at the beginning.
So, any idea were it could come from?
EDIT: I think this is actually only due to Spotify. Spotify for Linux doesn't scale its fonts correctly, there's nothing to do about it.
I thought it was general to qt applications, but it seems that others examples I've seen, like KeepassX, show the same way on Windows. So it's really an application setting, it doesn't have to do with my computer.

  • Using a non-free font in my commercial desktop app?

    Hello,
    I'm planning to use the font KaiTi for my desktop application, it's a Chinese font shipped with Windows 7 (possibly XP and Vista too). The font file itself will not be distributed or included in the app, however I'm going to rasterize the characters and include this raster version in the app. The user can then look at the character and see how the strokes are drawn.
    Do you think the KaiTi license allow me to do so?
    Laurent

    It's not an Adobe font. We don't have the text of the license to be able to give you an opinion. What does the license say? If you have questions about a font distributed by Microsoft with Windows, why don't you simply contact Microsoft and ask them?

  • Why do I keep getting a message saying: "Firefox.app wants to use the font "Bodonti SvtyTwo ITC TT Book" on the volume "Backup" ?

    Underneath this alert it says:
    "This font is not installed. Allow Firefox.app to use this font?"
    How can it use this font when it is not installed?
    Why does it have to keep asking me no matter how many times I push Allow or Don't Allow?

    You're welcome and thanks for confirming that the instructions worked.

  • Using custom fonts in app development?

    Could somebody inform me if it is possible to use custom fonts of choice when developing an app. If so are there any restrictions? I have read that sinds OS 3.2 iPhonesupports custom fonts, ttf and otf  fonts. Is this not the case also  for the ipad? Or am I completely off track?
    If one can add custom fonts do they work along the same lines as embedded webfonts, availale for all users even if they are not  on their ipad?

    Hi William
    I found one error. In the skin file, I had added a dependency to my css. It was missing a slash (/) to point to the correct folder level. Now that I've added that, the TOC displays the same font as the Index, Search results, and the topic (content, breadcrumbs, and footer). So, that's good, but on closer inspection, it looks like Verdana, not my custom font.
    I changed the font in whthost.js to the name of my custom font and generated the help, but it made no difference. I also changed the font and just opened the help without generating and got the same results.
    For your second suggestion, you mean whtdhtml.htm not whtdhtml.js? The custom font is in the lines:
    setFont("Normal", "MyFont","10pt","Black","Normal","Normal","none");
    setFont("Hover", "MyFont","10pt","#004080","Normal","Normal","underline");
    I added the <font> tag to this file, but the tag just shows up as plain text within the webhelp TOC (no matter where I insert it in the file).
    I also tried changing the font to my custom font for the Index body and Search results using the steps in Rick's Skinny on Skins (editing the whibody.htm and whfbody.htm files). When I do this, the serif font appears in the Index body and Search results.
    It seems like the files cannot "see" my custom fonts (which are in a folder at the same level as my css).

  • Using 9i reports server on 9i Apps server

    I am in the process of migrating from Forms 6i and Reports 6i to running the forms and reports (*.rdf) on an Apps Server. I have managed to get the Forms and its embdeded graphs (*.ogd) working but am getting nowhere with the reports. The old standalone (6i) forms used to have a simple code to do RUN_PRODUCT(REPORTS,<reportfielname>, ... whicg would casue the reports background engine to run on the client and then use the Reports runtime engine.
    I have read the documentation on using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT built in but nothing happens .. My Apps Server has a component (created by default?) called Reports Server: rep_AN17001323j. How do I reference that in the Forms Report object code?

    Hi,
    The problem is indeed that host A is in an other subnet as host B.
    When running rwdiag -findAll, you can see which reports servers you can access in your current subnet.
    When issuing rwdiag -find <rep> you can try finding the reports server on host B.
    After configuring a 2 way reports bridge, I was able to find the reports server on host B
    and you should get something like:
    Broadcast mechanism used to locate servers
    Channel address = 228.5.6.7
    Channel port = 14021
    '<rep>' found in the network
    Time taken - 15 milliseconds
    Name = <rep> : null
    Thanks for your help!

  • How to use Oracle Reports in an enterprise app, wrt file i/o?

    How are people architecting their enterprise applications to make use of Oracle Reports, with respect to transmission of the output?
    Do you have session beans which call the Oracle Reports JSP pages, and have them write the output to file names, the names of which you then transmit to the web layer? Alternatively, is there any practical way to "stream" the output directly from the EJB layer to the web layer and to the client?

    Hello David,
    When you call the report server via an URL, with DESTYPE=CACHE, the output is directly sent to the web browser.
    I am not sure to well understand you question, but if you want to control the report from a session bean, you can write a bean that call report server with an URL and get the output. Today, we do not have any EJB to control Oracle Reports.
    I am interested by the type of beans/architecture you would like to see in Reports, could you please send me a detailled example of a type of bean you would like to have ? ([email protected])

  • Using fonts embedded in the main app in Flash swf(s) loaded at runtime

    Hello there,
    My main application has several fonts embedded via CSS:
    @font-face {
    src: url('/Library/Fonts/ACaslonPro-Regular.otf');
    fontFamily: CaslonR;
    unicodeRange: U+0021-U+007E;
    At runtime the main application loads various swf files that were created in Flash CS5.
    I can't figure out how to allow those dynamically loaded external swf files to use the fonts that are already embedded in the main application.
    Of course I can embed the font in each swf in Flash CS5 to begin with, but that doesn't seem like an elegant solution, let alone it significantly increases the file size of every swf.
    Thanks,
    FTQuest

  • MICR printing problem using the Crystal ReportDocument object in C# app

    We developed a small C# windows program 6 months ago that reads a bank draft record and uses a Crystal Report form to print the draft (using ReportDocument() object and the PrintToPrinter() method).  This has been working fine for 6 months. (using .Net 2.0 Framework and Crystal Reports .Net plugin included with VS 2005 on client machine - CRRedist2005_X64.msi)
    Now the requirements have changed to put a MICR line at the bottom ot the draft check and print.  We have updated a similar Crystal draft report form and printed from Crystal Viewer - this works fine.  But when we update the Crystal report form used in the C# application, with the same MICR commands, using the same MICR printer, and the same user trying the print, it does not work.  The MICR commands are printed on the draft just like regular text, instead of being interpreted by the printer as MICR commands.  Must be something within the Crystal Reports .Net redistributable that is causing it to work incorrectly because it works correctly from the same users PC using Report Viewer.
    Note:  The MICR field on the Crystal Report contains the following chars:
           &%STHPASSWORD$&%SMD' MICR '$&%STQ$
    When we print, the above chars just print out like text
    Can anybody help with any suggestions ?
    Are they any hotfixes that address this issue of PCL commands not recognized on printer?

    The app that is working is a C++ vendor app, however the Crystal piece is seperate piece that uses the Crystal Report Viewer to pull up the draft report. The print button is then hit within Crystal Report Viewer and the draft prints correctly.
    - so the above app is using the Report Designer Component (craxdrt.dll) and as such it is not using the .NET assemblies...
    For the app that is not working, we are not using Crystal Report Viewer, but are using the ReportDocument object, from the Crystal .Net Redistributable (referenced above), embeded into our C# app. The app executes a PrintToPrint command against the identical Crystal report, however, running it this way, the MICR command that is embeded into the report is not recognized by the MICR printer. The output seems to jumble the MICR command that I posted earlier in the thread and does not keep the command in a readable format for the MICR printer.
    - the above is not using the Report Designer Component (craxdrt.dll). It is using the .NET assemblies and thus the .NET framework.
    Have you been able to get .NET to recognize / see the fonts in that label I mentioned on  6/27/08?

  • Java Importer and UNIX app server

    Setup: win2000, forms6i, jdk1.2.2
    I have successfully imported a java class (simple one just to give a string message out) on my pc, now I want to move the form to unix app server.
    I installed jdk1.2.2 on unix box in oracle app server account, made sure the path includes jdk1.2.2 path, added classpath variable to include importer.jar and my jar file.
    when the form is executed, It fails with "JAVA error"; no further explanation. I have coded exception block to trap java exception and display error.
    Any other setup required? Do I need to restart app server?
    Any suggestions please.
    Thanks
    Abhay

    1) I am currently using 9iAS version 9.0.2.2.0 (Forms version (9.0.2.11.0). Will this version reuse a single JVM or create one for every user?
    2) I am trying to implement a form with imported Java. I get an exception. I have tried the ORA_JAVA exception and error handling as indicated in the Forms Developer help (importing java.lang.exception) but it does not help. Stepping through the code I see that the generated JNI.GET_CLASS call fails for both my custom class and Exception_. Does this mean the JVM cannot be created? In my default.env file I have added my jar file to the classpath and the path already contained the jre/bin/classic directory. I saw a post about conflicts between the Forms and Reports classpath but I have not called reports when I run into this problem.

  • Type 1 Fonts not appearing in CS6 apps

    I'm running CS6 on a windows 7 machine. I'm using Extensis Suitcase 11 for WIndows (I know, I know, its old). I have both Type 1 fonts and Open Type fonts installed. The Open Type fonts appear on all apps including other windows apps such as Office. The Type 1 fonts appear in all other apps EXCEPT CS6 apps (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.). I've tried clearing out both the system cache as well as the Adobe cache and I've also cleared the font vault. After doing all that and restarting, the problem was fixed...or so I thought. After logging out at the end of the day and logging back in today, the problem is back. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem? Is it the Suitcase 11 app that might be causing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Actually there was a known bug in the CS3 applications (but not in the CS4 versions of the same applications) whereby Type 1 fonts installed in the standard Windows font directory (nominally C:\WINDOWS\FONTS\ ) do not show up in the CS application font menus for both Windows Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit versions. You have two workarounds:
    (1)     Upgrade to CS4 (or very soon, CS5) and the problem does not occur.
    (2)     Install a copy of the .PFB and .PFM files in the private font directory of the CS3 applications.

    Ted,
    When I connect to the Derby database in Eclipse using the embedded driver, I can successfully drag and drop tables to create a report. This driver uses the derby.jar file and has no package sealing violations popping up.
    <br/>
    <br/>
    When specifying a driver for a new derby database in Eclipse, the default Derby client driver expects to use the derbyclient.jar driver file. If I only specify this as the driver file this is the error I get:

    The error I initially posted resulted after I added the derby.jar as a driver file in addition to the derbyclient.jar, which I don't think is supposed to be done now that I am thinking about it, but I did it because of the class not found exception above. Is this perhaps simply a bug that it is trying to utilize the derby.jar embedded driver when the client driver should be used instead? Or am I doing something wrong myself?

  • Assistance with Printing to Zebra QL220 using the LabVIEW report VI

    I currently am trying to use the LabVIEW report VI to output a formatted set of strings to the above mentioned printer.
    The UMPC hardware that runs the developed application is bare bones XP box and doesn't' have MS office installed
    I use the LV new report set to a standard report and  successfully set orientation to portrait or Landscape, set margins and set report fonts and headers.. However  in sending the text strings to this label printer (labels are 45mm X 60mm) I find that that two issues arise.
    1. Printing out double labels. The pagination fails and prints a blank label after each print when text is output.  However if I disable all headers and body text (i.e blank label print). This pagination works fine.?
    2. The formatting of the information on the page reliably, I currently use inserted blank spaces, is there a better way?
    I thought, perhaps I should try using the ZLP programming language, but then not sure how to I send it to a USB printer? Has any one had any experience with this and these label printers ?
    Thanks

    hi all
    i am C sharp programer
    and i have zebra QL 220 plus
    and roll type is 42X20mm
    and i have the zebra sdk
    and i create mobile application in C# smart device
    and i tring to connect to printer from my application by bluetooth
    in sdk i got this and use
    using System;
    using ZSDK_API.Comm;
    using System.Text;
    using System.Threading;
    // This example prints "This is a ZPL test." near the top of the label.
    private void SendZplOverBluetooth(String theBtMacAddress) {
    try {
    // Instantiate a connection for given Bluetooth(R) MAC Address.
    ZebraPrinterConnection thePrinterConn = new BluetoothPrinterConnection(theBtMacAddress);
    // Open the connection - physical connection is established here.
    thePrinterConn.Open();
    // Defines the ZPL data to be sent.
    String zplData = "^XA^FO20,20^A0N,25,25^FDThis is a ZPL test.^FS^XZ";
    // Send the data to the printer as a byte array.
    thePrinterConn.Write(Encoding.Default.GetBytes(zplData));
    // Make sure the data got to the printer before closing the connection
    Thread.Sleep(500);
    // Close the connection to release resources.
    thePrinterConn.Close();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    // Handle communications error here.
    Console.Write(e.StackTrace);
    // This example prints "This is a CPCL test." near the top of the label.
    private void SendCpclOverBluetooth(String theBtMacAddress) {
    try {
    // Instantiate a connection for given Bluetooth(R) MAC Address.
    ZebraPrinterConnection thePrinterConn = new BluetoothPrinterConnection(theBtMacAddress);
    // Open the connection - physical connection is established here.
    thePrinterConn.Open();
    // Defines the CPCL data to be sent.
    String cpclData = "! 0 200 200 210 1\r\n"
    + "TEXT 4 0 30 40 This is a CPCL test.\r\n"
    + "FORM\r\n"

    thePrinterConn.Close();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    // Handle communications error here.
    Console.Write(e.StackTrace);
     and once i use ZPL method it print 17 barcod always with 16 blank Patches (labels)
    and  when i use CPCL method it print 12 BarCode always with 11 blank Patches (labels)
    and i dont know why ?
    it must print 1 Patch (label)
    what i can do  and i dont think there is eny rong with my code
    all waht i want is how i can give Length and width and how much label print coz it is always print 17 or 12 what i can do ?
