Using PXIe-6672 to send trigger to PXI-6682H using NI sample code

I have a PXI-6682H and a PXIe-6672 card in a PXIe 1075 chassis.  I have an IRIG-B timesource going into the PF1-0 IRIG B connector on the 6682H.  I'm trying to use the 6672 card to route a trigger to the 6682H card to receive an IRIG-B signal and supply a timestamp.  I'm using the example code Time Stamp Trigger.vi (to set the 6682H to receive a trigger via PXI_Trig7 for 6682H PXI slot) and Route Software Trigger.vi (to set device in slot corresponding to the 6672 to PXI_Trig7).  I receive no timestamp.  What gives?  Any help would be appreciated.

Hello jwins,
The PXIe-1075 is a multi-segment chassis and the PXI trigger bus is split between each segment.  The figure in page 17 of the PXIe-1075 user manual (http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/372537b.pdf) shows this.
Can you retrieve a time stamp by sending a trigger to the 6682H from a device on the same segment?  If so, you may need to route the trigger bus between segments.
Follow the steps in the knowledge base article titled Routing PXI Trigger Lines Across the Buses of Multisegment PXI Chassis to route the PXI trigger bus to the segment that contains the 6682H card from MAX.
You can also use VISA in your program to Programmatically Route PXI Trigger Lines Across a Multi Segment PXI Chassis.

    Dear All,
I have requirement with me, where i have to write a java code which will send a mail from lotus notes .
Could you please provide me sample source code and different options for implementing this .

Generally, whatever program you use to read mail, it will ultimately be sent by a "Mail Transfer Agent" which understand SMTP. I've got Lotus Notes here as my mail reader, but when my programs send mail they use java mail, and send the mail as SMTP using the appropriate mail server (sometimes called the "smart host"). It the mail is for my mailbox the MTA then forwards it to the Lotus Notes mail store.

  • How to use PXI Star Trigger for PXIe-5663 in PXIe-1075 chassis

    HI all,
    I have this sytem configuration:
    PXIe-8135 controller. Windows 7 64-bit, RFSA 2.7.5. NI-SYNC 3.4.1
    PXIe-1075 chassis
    PXIe-5663 (2x)
    PXIe-6672 Timing & Sync Card (slot #10)
I want to trigger the recording of my Digitizer with an external trigger.
The External Trigger is connected to PFI0 of the PXIe-6672 Timing card.
Then, the PXIE-6672 card routes the trigger to the backplane of the PXIe-1072 (Destination "NISYNC_VAL_PXITRIG0")
The PXIe-5663 are triggered with “NIRFSA_VAL_PXI_TRIG0_STR” as the source.
The trigger fires my PXIe-5663 correctly, but the timing is not tight (> 5ns).
I would like to use the PXI Star trigger instead, I think that I should be able to acheive much better synchronization with this.
But NI-RFSA won't let me do this:
    When I try to call
    "niRFSA_ConfigureDigitalEdgeStartTrigger(rfsa_session, NIRFSA_VAL_PXI_STAR_STR , NIRFSA_VAL_RISING_EDGE)", I get the error:
"Specified Route Cannot Be Satisfied, Because the Hardware Does Not Support It"
I don't understand why the PXIe-5663E would not be able to use that Route.
    Any idea?

That explanation isn't quite right. Usually, even PXIe modules have a connection to PXI_Star. The PXIe standard added the PXIe_DStar trigger buses, and it also preserved the PXI_Star bus from the PXI standard.
However, there is an additional twist in this situation. I'm assuming that your PXIe-5663 includes a PXIe-5622 as the digitizer. It turns out that a synchronization technique called NI-TClk has eliminated the need for our more recent digitizers to rely on triggering from PXI_Star. I was able to find some documentation that includes this information, here and here. Given that, I think you have two options that should result in better synchronization.
The first option is to use TClk; I found an example program that demonstrates using TClk to acheive phase coherent signal acquisition across two 5663s. The second option is to use cables of matched length to connect two PFI front panel terminals of the timing board (6672) to the PFI1 front panel terminals of the digitizers (5622). The timing board would accept the external trigger on PFI0 and then issue triggers on PFI1 and PFI2 with around 500 ps of skew (manual, page A-4) . The digitizers would use NIRFSA_VAL_PFI1_STR as the trigger. I hope one of these solutions will meet the demands of your particular application.
I will also follow up with the owners of the RFSA product documentation to see if we can include a note about why PXI_Star is not supported in some cases.

  • Using PXI 6251 counter to delay a trigger on PXI

    Hi at all,
I need to synchronize some devices on an PXI chassis. Basic operation is a user waveform generation on a PXI5401 that routes the Trigger Signal for the generation to one of the PXI (RTSI) lines. I'd like to use this trigger signal to start a counter on a PXI 6251 counting the PXI 10MHz Clock. No problem so far ( at least none that I see What I need is a possibilty to set another sync signal as soon as a certain counter value is reached in order to use this signal as a delayed trigger signal. Is it possible? And how? I've taken a look at the LabVIEW Example finder, but haven't found an example yet...
    Thanks!
    Oli
    P.S. Using LabVIEW 7.1.1, NIDAQ7.4 and a PXI 1042 via MXI4
Programming languages don't create bad code, programmers create bad code....

    Nathan,
Thanks for your excellent solution. I'm ordering the Aux100 cable (9-Pin DIN to two BNC Female) to export the trigger signal from the PXI to the Device_2. I will test the program (Echo_Mode_PXI_5122.vi) to be sure it will be suitable for my application.
Another problem, when my system is working on ultrasound Pulse-echo mode (Pulse_Echo_Mode_PXI_5122.vi), the input trigger must be set a delayed trigger acquisition (by setting the trigger delay to, for example 3µs) to remove the signal of power source. Could you please tell me how I can configure the digitizer in this case?

  • Route front trigger of PXIe 2593 to backplane for use with PXIe 5251

I have a PXIe 1062Q chassis with a number of PXIe 2593 Mux's which are connected to the two inputs channels of a PXIe 5251 Digitizer. What I want to do is to use the trigger on the front of the Mux to close the appropriate switches on the muz and to trigger the start of capture on the Digitizer, is there anyway to do this?
If not is there another way to do what i want?

    Hi WayneR1,
    Thank you for your question!
In order to route different signals (like triggers) on the PXIe backplane "DAQmx Connect Terminals"
    VI should be used:
The source and destination terminals can be on different devices as long as a connecting public bus,
such as RTSI or the PXI backplane, connects the devices.
More detailed information can be found here: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370469AA-01/lvdaqmx/mxconnectterminals/
Please make sure that you disconnect those routes after running your code.
Once routes has been connected, they will stay connected until you restart the PXIe controller
or use "DAQmx Disconnect Terminals" VI:
More information about "DAQmx Disconnect Terminals" VI: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370469AA-01/lvdaqmx/mxdisconnectterminals/
I hope that you will find this information useful!

  • How to generate a gps signal using the PXI-5671 after generating a gps binary file using the gps toolkit

    Hi,
I am trying to test a GPS receiver and would like to use the PXI-5671 to stream a GPS binary data file which was generated using the GPS toolkit. I tried using the RFSG Arbitrary Waveform Generation.vi but it doesn't work.  Is there a sample code that will allow me to do this?
    Thank you.

    Hello,
The NI-RFSG driver certainly allows you to stream waveform files to signal generators without the use of the GPS Toolkit, as shown here. However, the NI-RFSG driver does not provide the user with out-of-box applications that can stream GPS waveforms with Almanac and Ephemeris information to various signal generators. For this reason, the NI GPS toolkit will be needed.
The only alternative is that you will gather your own Almanac and Ephemeris files and implement your own functionality using the base RFSG driver to generate and stream the GPS signals. This is something that you would need to do on your own, which could prove to be difficult, thus making the GPS toolkit the best option.
    I hope this information helps.

  • Can an image of Windows 2000 using NI-VXI 3.5 with a PXI-MXI controller be fielded for multiple computers using sysprep?

I am trying to field an image of Windows 2000 using NI-VXI 3.5 with a PXI-MXI controller.  Can I set the system up to retain to original settings for VXI?  Some of my computers use a PCI-MXI controller.  Although Windows always finds the MXI controller, the original VXI System 0 is not used.  I have several VME instruments set up and the target is about 85 different computers.  Also the NI-GPIB interface does not show in MAX.  Is this supposed to work?

    Hello,
Here's an update regarding the gpib error. There has been a Corrective Action Request (CAR) ID:3BI8A578, filed due to a similar issue of error gpibpnp.exe with NI-488.2 v2.2 on Windows 2000 and Sysprep. This issue's workaround involved going back to install NI-488.2 v2.1 or installing the v2.3 release in order to eliminate the problem. Currently, NI-488.2 v2.3 is no longer available for download, however, all operating systems and hardware supported by NI-488.2 v2.3 are also supported by NI-488.2 v2.4 (see link 1).

  • DMM PXI 4070 synchronisation trigger généré par PXI6229 (Daq M)

    Bonjour,

  • Is it possible to use BAPI-ALE to send an idoc using the message control?

    Hi Guys
Is it possible to use BAPi-ALE to send an IDOC using a message control?
I have configured the system to send an IDOC when a outbound delivery is saved in the system.
    I have done the following.
1). I am using the std BAPI-ALE interface provided by the object type LIKP.
2). I am using the method SAVEREPLICA for which an interface already exists in BDBG transaction.
3). I hace created a distribution model in BD64 and added the BAPI - LIKP and SAVEREPLICA
4). Created a partner profile ( using the generate partner profile option in the BD64 transaction )
    QUESTION:
1). How do i associate the custom OUTPUT type created for Delivery ?
2). I tried to associate the custom output type in the Partner profile definition under the message control tab but i am not sure which Process code to be used? Since the partner profile was generated automatically from BD64 it has an entry for SHP_OBDLV_SAVE_REPLICA as a message type in the outbound parameters. and i am unable to find a process code for this Message type in WE41. So what process code should i use in the Message control tab against the custom output type?
3). Do i need to leave the message control tab empty without making any entry? If yes then how would the system come to know that it needs to trigger this partner profile when the custom output type is proposed by the system?
will award points for useful answers

  • How to send trigger pulse for every 0.25 sec until user stops the task?

    Hi All,
Iam using NI_DAQ PCI 6221 Card for the Data Acquisition.
Can any body please tell me how to send trigger pulse for every 0.25 sec until the user stop the task??
Please suggest me the methods I should use to meet this requirement.
    Thanks In Advance,
    Sindhu

    Hi Sindhu,
Am I correct in thinking that you do not want to use your 6221 to output a digital pulse, but that you are getting a digital pulse from somewhere else that you want to use as a trigger for the analog input?  And you will have more than one trigger?  If this is the case, then it can be accomplished by doing a retriggerable operation.  The way that this works is you use the counter on your board to generate the sample clock for your analog input because analog input cannot do retriggerable operations with its own sample clock.  You can modify the example GenDigPulseTrainContinuous_DigStart that is in the same location as the example I referenced before to be retriggerable by using the property DAQmxSetStartTrigRetriggerable.
After doing that and testing to make sure that it works, you can setup an analog input task like the example ContAcqVoltageSamples_IntClk but specify the source of the sample clock to be the internal output of the counter you used in the counter portion of your program.  If you need help with the terminal names (You will need to use Ctr0InternalOutput for example), you can reference the NI-DAQmx C Reference Help at Start >> Programs >> National Instruments >> NI-DAQ.  After doing this, you will acquire the same number of samples as the number of pulses you choose to generate in the counter portion of your code every time a trigger is received.
Also, I have come across an example that does retriggerable analog input using the counter as a sample clock in C++.  Either by using this example or modifying the shipping examples as I stated above you should be able to achieve what you are trying to do.
Let us know if you have any questions.
    Thanks,
    Laura

    hi,
using ale u can send from sap to sap and sap to non sap systems,
then what is diff b/w ALE and EDI

    Hello KALYAN KUMAR,
    Application Link Enabling (ALE)
1.You distribute data using ALE if you want to communicate from one system to one or more other (mostly internal) systems.
2.ALE transfers data in IDoc format and uses the methods of tRFC for data transfer.
3.ALE enables the integration of business processes across several SAP or non-SAP systems.
    Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
1.You use EDI if you want to exchange business application documents with an (external) partner system (for example, a customer or vendor).
    2. The SAP system sends EDI messages in IDoc format to an EDI subsystem, where they are converted to a universal EDI standard (UN/EDIFACT or ANSI/X12).
    3. This enables communication with non-SAP systems.
By definition, two partners are involved in the process in an EDI application scenario: The sender and the recipient of an EDI message
I hope u understands the difference:)
