Using SHIFT Key to change/create libraries

I recently moved my I-tunes from my PC HD to an EHD for more space. I used the "Hold Down Shift Key" when opening itunes to create a new library for the EHD. How do I delete the old library (all files are gone from it) so I can click on the Itunes desktop icon and open the new library without getting the dialog box to choose a library?

  • How to make smooth line by brush tool using shift key?

Heya, I have a short question. Is there a way to make smooth line by brush tool using shift key, without that characteristic dot on the begining? I'm using PS CS6 on Win7.

    Cheers

The shift key constrains the brush to paint a straight line. Those dark spots you see are from two paint strokes overlapping each other. If the flow or opacity of the brush is not at 100% you can see the stroke below it.

  • Screen stuck on gray, used shift key and my screen appears with MacBook Pro and not the recovery option. Please help

Screen stuck on gray, used shift key and my screen appears with MacBook Pro and not the recovery option. Please help!

    Hi ..
Shift key boots into Safe Mode, not Recovery.
This only works on a Mac running v10.7 Lion or later.
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to repair the startup disk and restore OS X using OS X Recovery
If you can't boot into Recovery Mode, help here >   Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup

  • Using shift key to extend line or paint stroke

Hello all. I've been using a very old version of Photoshop for the last 10 years and I'm used to using the shift key to extend a line or paint stroke. By that I mean,  I use the paint tool to make a dot and then hold down the shift key and make another dot elsewhere and that creates a straight line. I just purchased CS6 and that function doesn't  seem to be happening. Is this something I need to activate in a preference?
Thanks very much for any and all help.

There's something strange going on here...
Like you, I have always relied on Shift giving me straight strokes from last point to current point.  However, I just tried it with the setting both ways and in both cases it worked.

  • Angle increments using shift key. How to set it up?

How to set up the angle increments (stops) to be used with the shift key? I need to set it up to 30 degrees increments.

The Shift key only constrains to 90° and 45° (based on the Constrain Angle in Prefs) and I don’t think you can change that.
At least I have been using Illie for several generations of donkeys and have never hit on (nor needed) a method involving Shift like you are asking for.
I have always found it easier to use the specific tools for Rotating, Scaling etc. rather than using the Selection tool and bounding boxes (as I assume you are doing). Maybe I’m old-fashioned and maybe it’s just a personal quirk, but hitting R or S keys seems to me to be a more convenient way of working.

  • Can't get letter "s" into higher case using shift key!

When I press the shift key and the letter "s" at the same time, the computer does nothing and then a few seconds later makes that noise as if you are typing, when not selected in any program.
Should I re-install Leopard or take back to the store, orrrr wait for an Apple update to fix these keyboard issues?

Check whether either the speech or listening keys in the Speech pane of System Preferences have become set to that keystroke, and change the setting if either has been.

  • Using + and - keys to change dates and times; Find and Replace event

    Hi all, \
I have two iCal related questions. One has been bugging me since the Snow Leopard upgrade and the other I'm just wondering about.
    1. Is it just me or is it no longer possible to use the + and - keys to increment dates and times when editing an event? It seems that now I have to actually type in the numerals instead. Is there something in the preferences I'm missing or is that just the way it is now? Seems like a step backward, if so.
    2. Is there a way to do a "find and replace" for an event that occurs sporadically throughout the year, but isn't a repeating event per se? I just want to rename the event itself.

    Don,
...is it no longer possible to use the + and - keys to increment dates and times when editing an event?
I did not know that was possible. Try using the ↑/↓ arrow keys to increment numbers, and →/← arrow keys to change fields.
Is there a way to do a "find and replace" for an event that occurs sporadically throughout the year, but isn't a repeating event per se?
AFAIK, you have to use the search field to find the individual events, and change them when you click on the events in the search results field.
    ;~)

  • Can't select text using shift key

    Really weird thing...
Suddenly can't use the shift key to select a block of text... but only in certain apps.
Unfortunately, have read through 20 or 30 articles and getting nowhere, so posting here in case anyone has had a similar issue!

    Checked that. Wasn't anything there.
But doesn't matter much as it suddenly randomly started working again. *sigh*

  • Mail: cannot multiselect several emails using "shift" key

Very strange: we have several Macs using Snow Leopard. For some reason on my Imac only, I cannot multi-select several emails at one time to delete them. This function with the shift key works on all the other Macs. I have rebuilt the mailboxes, checked all the preferences, run "disk utility" for repairing permissions. Using 10.6.3. It's just annoying to have to delete one by one rather than grouping continguous emails. I also can't select multi emails using the "command" key.

I found it's working OK when I'm actually on site with the computer. I discovered it is only NOT working while at a remote location & accessing the computer. I don't understand why working remotely causes this to happen, but it's not a huge issue.

  • Using shift key to constrain proportions while scaling

I notice that using the shift key doesn’t currently constrain proportions when scaling objects. This is pretty standard behaviour in graphics apps and it would be good to have this included in Muse. There seems to be nowhere to manually enter a scale factor either, which would be useful.

Looking into this further, it seems that the behaviour is inconsistent. A placed rectangle object can be resized proportionally when constrained with the shift key, but this doesn’t work the same way when scaling a placed image. Additionally, using the crop tool on a placed image does allow constraint using the shift key.
Testing with grouped objects, a group of plain rectangles can be resized proportionally, but a group of images cannot.
The answer is to use the lock button when resizing images but it would be better if the behaviour were consistent across object types.

  • Using shift key not working with bluetooth keyboard

Am I missing something here? Or does the shift key not work with the iphone using a bluetooth keyboard?  I'm using the logitech K810 for reference on iphone 6 iOS 8.1

The shift key works just fine on my Bluetooth keyboard.  So I would imagine this is an issue with your keyboard.

  • Using shift key to capitalize

I use several iMacs and MB Pros. In all but one, holding down the shift key will produce a string of capitalized letters, no need to use the caps lock key. Cannot make the deviant iMac ( 1 yr old, 10.5.8 ) give me caps by holding shift key down. Happens in all programs and using different Apple keyboards. Have made multiple adjustments in International and Universal Access with no success.
Would be easier to train the keyboard than to retrain my typing for this one computer.
Thanks ( <- typed while holding down shift key )

  • ADF Faces 10g af:table row selection using SHIFT Key

    Hello,
Is there a simple way in 10G af:table with multiple selection facet to enable selecting multiple rows of a table by selecting one row, holding the SHIFT key down, selecting another row way down, and having all the rows in the middle be automatically selected?
So, this is essentially equivalent to "Select Range" Capability.
    Thank you for any information.

I think the simple answer to your question is, no.
In 11g, I think the answer is, yes; but you probably already knew that.
You might consider altering the keySet associated with the table related to the multi-select checkbox facet. You could have some section above the table that selects these check boxes based on some entered filter criteria. The keySet is a little weird though. You might check out its usage in SRDemo Application Module Impl class code which deletes over this keyset, and work backwards from there.

  • Using A Key To Change A Patch

I'm using MainStage in a scenario that requires a number of quick patch changes in tightly scripted music.
In one particular situation that change is so tight that I want to assign one of the keys on the (piano) keyboard to change the patch. That is, I want one of the notes in a passage that I'm playing to cause the patch to change to the next in line.
This was pretty simple to accomplish.
The problem is that when the command was mapped to the MIDI note at the patch level (not at the Concert or Set level) it disabled that note's ability to trigger audio from the soft-synths. This happened not only for that note in that patch, but for that note for all the patches in the concert.
I want the key to both change the patch and continue to function as a playable note.
Any idea on how to do this?

The main thing that I'm trying to figure out is this:
If I map a parameter to a note played on the keyboard, why does it disable that note from triggering a pitch as well? Keep in mind that the patch change command was set at the 'patch level' (not the 'concert' or 'set level'. I don't know why the mapping would affect anything outside of that patch.
I haven't considered the multi-channel solution. It's not an important enough problem for me to search out a solution that could impose other unknown issues at this point.
I know that Kurzweill's can easily use a MIDI note as a 'patch increment' command without disabling that note's sound-triggering function. I wonder how to do it in MainStage.
