Using sort variables

Hi All:
I am new in LE topics and I would like to ask you what is the use or principal functionality of the sort variables within storage bins as part of warehouse management?
Thanks for your help
Regards.

Hi,
You can use this field to help in Storage space optimization. I am copying SAP Help here.
Define Sort Sequence for Putaways (Cross-line Stock Putaway)
If you do not want the SAP system to carry out the search for a suitable storage bin according to the numerically ascending
sequence of storage bins, you can influence the sequence of storage bin allocation using this cross-line putaway method.
With cross-line putaway, you can prevent the danger of one-sided loading into the warehouse and, at the same time, have the
putaways carried out efficiently.
You can set up cross-line stock putaway for the putaway strategies empty bin and pallets. You can also set up cross-line stock
putaway for storage types with the putaway strategies addition to existing stock or bulk storage, since the system searches for
an empty bin if the search for a bin for addition to existing stock is unsuccessful.
Default settings
In the SAP standard system, sample entries are preset for warehouse number 001 and storage type 001.
SAP Recommendation
If you wish to use the "Cross-line putaway" strategy, you must activate the strategy before adding the storage bins. If you
activate this strategy after bins have been created, the control fields and indicators for existing storage bins will not be filled properly.
If you must change the cross-line putaway method for storage types in which storage bins have already been created,
you must change the affected storage bins using the "multiple processing" function.
Actions
1. For all storage types for which you wish to set the cross-line placement strategy, set the sequence of the storage bin number
positions so that the index can be created.
2. If you want to change the sequence of the number positions of the storage bins for index creation in a storage type where the
storage bins have already been generated, you must change the affected storage bins (sort field) afterwards using the "multiple
processing" function.
You will find this option in the Warehouse Management menu Master data -> Storage bin -> Change -> Several storage bins.

  • Sorting columns dynamically using Presentation Variables

    Hi,
    I have 4 measures say A,B,C,D , a period dimension and branch name dimension. I would like to select the measure in the prompt and the result should display rank for the selected measure using presentation variables. For eg: If measure-A is selected, the result should be arranged in order by based on "A".
    Is it possible to sort the columns dynamically?
    Kindly help me.
    Regards,
    RB

    Hi RB,
    You can do that, though it's a bit more complicated than a simple SQL statement. For example:
    WITH BASEDATA AS (
    SELECT
      EMPNO,
      ENAME,
      MGR,
      SAL,
      COMM,
      CASE WHEN :P4_SORT_ORDER = 1 THEN
        ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY UPPER(ENAME))
      WHEN :P4_SORT_ORDER = 2 THEN
        ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY (SELECT NVL(MIN(UPPER(E2.ENAME)),'-Select-') FROM EMP E2 WHERE E2.EMPNO = EMP.MGR))
      WHEN :P4_SORT_ORDER = 3 THEN
        ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY (SELECT NVL(MIN(UPPER(E2.ENAME)),'-Select-') FROM EMP E2 WHERE E2.EMPNO = EMP.MGR), UPPER(ENAME))
      WHEN :P4_SORT_ORDER = 4 THEN
        ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY UPPER(ENAME) DESC)
      WHEN :P4_SORT_ORDER = 5 THEN
        ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY (SELECT NVL(MIN(UPPER(E2.ENAME)),'-Select-') FROM EMP E2 WHERE E2.EMPNO = EMP.MGR) DESC)
      WHEN :P4_SORT_ORDER = 6 THEN
        ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY (SELECT NVL(MIN(UPPER(E2.ENAME)),'-Select-') FROM EMP E2 WHERE E2.EMPNO = EMP.MGR) DESC, UPPER(ENAME) DESC)
      END SORTITEM,
      'O' STATUS
    FROM
      EMP
    SELECT
      EMPNO,
      ENAME,
      MGR,
      SAL,
      COMM
    FROM
      BASEDATA
    ORDER BY
      SORTITEMUsing a CASE statement this assigns a ROW_NUMBER to every record based on its ordering within the selected ORDER BY clause. The output is then sorted by this value.

  • Sorting an Array using two variables

    Hi,
    I has an ArrayList of objects that have two variables that need to be used to sort the ArrayList.
    Sorting using one variable is fine, but how do I sort once using both variables?
    any ideas would be great
    tks
    Phill

    I have to do this a lot, so I came up with a more reusable solution. I have two Compatator classes, one that permits me to compare two objects based upon a bean property value. Another lets me chain two Comparator objects together. So I create two of the bean comparators and chain them together. Similar code exists in the Jakarta Commons Lang project.

  • How to use shared variables to address multiple Watlow controllers on the same COM port

    Hello,
    I am trying to use LabVIEW 2010 to control 4 Watlow temperature controllers on one COM port. 3 are Model 96 and 1 is an EZ zone controller. Each controller has a unique modbus address, and I am trying to read from and write to individual registers (such as closed loop setpoint) using shared variables. I am getting return data when reading (although the data appears to be invalid), but am unable to change the value in the register by writing. How can I be sure that the Modbus server is sending commands to the correct controller?
    Chuck
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Peter,
    Thanks for the reply. I have actually solved that problem. I realized that the Modbus server address has to be the same as the controller's Modbus address.
    I have, however, run into another problem. Perhaps you could help me with that. I have a system with 4 Watlow controllers, 3 are series 96 controllers, one is PID only and 2 are ramping. The 4th controller is an EZ zone. I am using RS485 for communications and the controllers are all wired in parallel for communications and power.
    I have set up 2 Modbus servers for 2 of the controllers.
    This is the first I have ever worked with Modbus based communications. I have successfully programmed using the Modbus read/write VIs, and am wanting to move to shared variables. My questions right now revolve around addressing, Modbus I/O servers and COM ports. Specifically, at this point, I know the addresses need to match up between the server and the slave device (Watlow controller in my case), how many servers can I create and use on one COM port? If the number is limited, is there a way I can specify an address that I want the server to talk to? Will the broadcast mode work to request data values from the controllers?
    I'd appreciate any information you can help me with, or if you could point me to some sort of concise 'How-To' for Modbus communication.
    Thanks.

  • SCEP - Using a variable in the Subject field

    Hi
    Has anyone out there successfully installed a SCEP certificate on an iOS device using a unique identifier of some sort in the subject field? We are using iPhone configuration utility but ultimately want to use Apple configurator.
    We can install the certificate, but cannot get the common name (CN) to populate using something like the device serial number or UDID. We have tried variations on CN=SERIALNUMBER, CN=%SERIALNUMBER%, CN = %$UDID%, CN = $UDID$ but it just populates the field with the string itself rather than the device serial number or UDID.
    I know others have posted similar issues on this forum:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22162313#22162313

    But no-one seems to have successfully managed this.
    Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    Simple answer... When I used the variable, I marked it as a string.  There is an email address setting.

  • Using Shared Variables and Initialize Front Panel Binding (to PSP)

    Hi,
    I use LV DSC RT 8.2.1
    I have a Vacuum System That includes signals from - Pumps failure, Valves status, Vacuum gauge, start Pump ...
    Each signal is read by a FieldPoint.
    All the relevant FieldPoint Channels are read by the Server (a computer in the Ethernet Network) and published to the network in the form of Shared Variables.
    I have a client VI that is reading the Shared Variables published by the Server using Front Panel Binding.
    Problem :
    Some of the Bindings are in the mode 'Write &Read' and that causes some initialization problems.
    For example - Valve #1 is Open, and then a User start running the Client VI, (the Valve #1 Status mode is 'Write & Read")
                           if in the VI the status of Valve #1 is closed (before running it) then the Valve status is changing to Closed.
    I want the Client VI to first read the Physical status of the instrument and then to change the Value if the User changes it.
    But that's seems to be a problem when using Front Panel Binding... (is it?)
    I know I can Deploy a lvlib in the Client Side and Item Bind to the Shared Variables or Use DataSocket.
    (Is DataSocket is a Reliable method when connecting to Shared Variables? What are the disadvantages when using DataSocket?)
    What is recommended by those of you that are experienced or by NI ?
    Sincerely Yours,
    Amitai Abramson.

    Amitai Abramson,
    Hello and thanks for using the NI Forums.
    I'm glad that you've read the Using the LabVIEW Shared Variable Tutorial on our website. Check out these other resources:

    Alternative Method for Using Shared Variables Between Systems in LabVIEW 8.x
    What Is The Difference Between Using Shared Variables And DataSocket VIs To Access OPC Tags?
    The issue that you are seeing by having "Write & Read" bound items on both the server and client side is essentially a race condition, you don't know which one is being read/written at what time. To resolve this issue I would take a look at some of the documents below.
    Using a Local, Global, or Shared Variable in Parallel Loops Can Cause Race Conditions
    Using Local and Global Variables Carefully
    Tutorial: Local Variable, Global Variable, and Race Conditions
    Locking a Shared Resource or Variable in LabVIEW Using Semaphores
    You mentioned not wanting to have two sets of shared variables (one on each side), but this is a great method to resovle this issue, that, or you can develope some sort of hand shaking to prevent these race conditions.
    I would suggest that in the future when using these forums you try to ask only one question per thread and make it more concise. It's hard to tackle multiple questions and such broad questions as "I want to know all the ways that I can connect to Shared Variables, and I want to know the advantages and disadvantages." I suggest this because we want you to get your questions answered and more concise questions will result in quicker and better answers.

  • Query don't use the right index when using bind variables

    Hi people !
    I need some help because I have an issue with a query that don t use the right Indexes as it should
    First of all, I have mainly three tables :
    ORDER : Table that contains description for each Order (approximately 1 000 000 Records)
    ORDER_MVTS : Table that contains the tasks made (called movements) to set up each Orders
    with quantity of packages prepared for each product (approximately 10 000 000 Records)
    PRODUCT : Tables that contains the products (approximately 50 000 Records)
    When I launch the query with hard coded values, it brings back response very fast
    because it uses the right index (ORDER_DHR_VALID) which represent the date and hour of the order
    (with format 'DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'). The selectivity for this index is good.
    NB 1: I have to use the trick " >= Trunc(date) and < trunc(date) +1 " to filter on a simple date because
    the index contains hour and minutes (I know it wasn't probably a bright idea at conception time).
    NB 2: The index on ORDER_MVTS.PRODUCT_CODE is'nt discriminating enough because there is'nt enough different products.
    It's the same for index on CUSTOMER_CODE and on MVT_TYPE so only the index on ORDER.DHR_VALID is good.
    Here is the correct explain plan when I execute the query with hard coded values :
    SELECT SUM(ORDER_MVTS.NB_PACKAGE)
    FROM ORDER_MVTS, PRODUCT, ORDER
    WHERE ORDER.DHR_VALID >= TRUNC(to_date('14/11/2008 10:04:56','DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'))
    AND ORDER.DHR_VALID < TRUNC(to_date('14/11/2008 10:04:56','DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')) + 1
    AND ORDER_MVTS.MVT_TYPE = 'DELIVERY'
    AND PRODUCT.CODE = ORDER_MVTS.PRODUCT_CODE
    AND ORDER_MVTS.ORDER_CODE = ORDER.CODE
    AND ORDER.CUSTOMER_CODE = 'ADIDAS'
    AND PRODUCT.CODE = 1234
    Rows Row Source Operation
    1 SORT AGGREGATE
    2 NESTED LOOPS
    4 NESTED LOOPS
    2 INDEX UNIQUE SCAN (object id 378548) --> PRODUCT_PK
    4 TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID ORDER
    777 INDEX RANGE SCAN (object id 378119) --> ORDER_DHR_VALID
    2 TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID ORDER_MVTS
    30 INDEX RANGE SCAN (object id 377784) --> ORDER_MVTS_ORDER_FK
    Now the problem is when the query is used in a Cursor with bind variables.
    It seems like Oracle don't use index on ORDER.DHR_VALID because he can't figure out that he have
    to actually filter on a short period of time (only one day).
    So Oracle uses the index on ORDER_MVTS.PRODUCT_CODE which is'nt a bright idea (it takes 10 secondes instead of just one)
    Here is the bad explain plan :
    Rows Row Source Operation
    1 SORT AGGREGATE
    2 NESTED LOOPS
    722 NESTED LOOPS
    2 INDEX UNIQUE SCAN (object id 378548) --> PRODUCT_PK
    722 TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID ORDER_MVTS
    1790 INDEX RANGE SCAN (object id 377777) --> ORDER_MVTS_PRODUCT_FK
    2 TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID ORDER
    1442 INDEX UNIQUE SCAN (object id 378439) --> ORDER_PK
    Now I have found two solutions to this problem :
    1) using a Hint to force the use of index on ORDER.DHR_VALID (with /*+ INDEX(ORDER ORDER_DHR_VALID) */ )
    2) Using Dynamic SQL and keeping the date hard coded (but not the other values except mvt_type)
    For example :
    QUERY :=
    'SELECT SUM(ORDER_MVTS.NB_PACKAGE)
    FROM ORDER_MVTS, PRODUCT, ORDER
    WHERE ORDER.DHR_VALID >= TRUNC(TO_DATE('''||To_char(P_DTE_VAL,'DD/MM/YYYY')||''',''DD/MM/YYYY'')) '||
    AND ORDER.DHR_VALID < TRUNC(TO_DATE('''||To_char(P_DTE_VAL,'DD/MM/YYYY')||''',''DD/MM/YYYY'')) + 1 '||
    AND ORDER_MVTS.MVT_TYPE = 'DELIVERY'
    AND PRODUCT.CODE = ORDER_MVTS.PRODUCT_CODE
    AND ORDER_MVTS.ORDER_CODE = ORDER.CODE
    AND ORDER.CUSTOMER_CODE = :CUSTOMER
    AND PRODUCT.CODE = :CODE ';
    These two solutions work but Number 1 is bad in theory because it uses a Hint
    and Number 2 may be difficult to code.
    So my question is : Does someone knows another solution to force the use of index ORDER_DHR_VALID that can be simple and reliable.
    Thank you very much for support

    What version of oracle you have? CBO work is different in 9i and 10g.
    Usually cost based optimizer do not want to use index for >< condition with binding variables because optimizer can not use statistic to determine selectivity, and by default selectivity of <> operators is low.
    (As I remember '>' selectivity by default is 5%, you have two conditions > and <, therefore resulting selectivity will be 0.05*0.05=0.0025 as two independent events, but selectivity of other conditions
    ORDER_MVTS.MVT_TYPE = 'DELIVERY' or ORDER.CUSTOMER_CODE = 'ADIDAS' looks much better for CBO)
    The best solution I see is do not use binding variables. Actually your query looks as searching query, which executes not so often, therefore you will not have perfomance win along of skipping execution plan creation.

    Hello
    Could you reformat your execution plans because they aren't particularly readable. The forums allow you to preserve the formatting of code or output by putting the symbol {noformat}{noformat} before and after the section of text you want to preserve formatting for.
    If you write
    {noformat}select * from v$version
    {noformat}
    it will be displayed asselect * from v$version
    So can you run this above statement and post the output here so we know the full oracle version you are working with?  And finally, it would be really helpful to see the query you are running.  When you say it runs fine in Toad, is that when you replace the bind variables with the values or are you also using bind variables in Toad?
    Cheers
    David

  • Using a variable in communication channel

    Hi,
    I have a lot of Communication Channels looking for files in the same directory. This directory's path will be changed soon and so I assume I'll have to change all my Communication Channels.
    I was wondering whether there was a means of using a variable for the Source Directory in order to just have to change its value where it is defined and not every where it is used...
    Regards
    Yann

    Hi,
    Is this a sender file adapter? or a receiver file adapter?
    You can make a change / make the receiver file adapter's directory dynamic by setting the value during runtime in the mapping.
    Use  this blog and the code in the blog to acheive this,
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/11/10/xi-the-same-filename-from-a-sender-to-a-receiver-file-adapter--sp14
    Sender File adapter, I dont think this is possible.

    can any one tell the meaning of folowing which is in the sheet "vars utilisation" of PLD_Vars_march2007 xls file
    " it means that this variable can be used only under certain repetitive area exclusive numbers (109, 126, 132, 135, 139, 148, 149, 309, 316, 427, 502, 509, 686)

    Hi,
    It is a special variable available for the VAT summary part, not to be used in the rows but in a separate repetitive area.
    To display the respective VAT rates in each row, create a database field instead: Tax Definition - Rate%. It will populate the VAT percentage for you.

    Hi Krishna,
    What is the datatype of the Variable lastupdate ?
    In my case
    Variable
    Name : LastUpdateDate
    Datatype : Alphanumeric
    Action : Historize
    Query : select to_char(to_date(sysdate,'DD-MON-YY'),'DD-MON-YY') from sys.dual
    Then in filter I used
    EMP.HIREDATE>to_date('#LastUpdateDate','DD-MON-YY')
    Thanks

  • Using a variable as a value in jsp:param

    I was wondering, I have a String variable, vid_1, and want to use a jsp:include and pass that in as one of the parameters. How can I do this? I have to do some testing to make sure vid_1 is valid and set a default if not. It contains a number referring to which video needs to be displayed.
    Is there anyway I can get this value to be used in jsp:param value?

    Well,First thing you haven't pharsed your question properly.
    Anyways as per my understading.
    The first thing is make use of in this case as your defined requirement states you need to make use of variables of both the JSP's which need compile time include not at the runtime.use of
    <%@ include file="url" %>would be more appropriate as you want to use the variable of parent jsp to the child one.
    Anyways if you are thinking to apply a solution using <jsp:include/>
    <jsp:include page="url">
    <jsp:param name="paramName" value="<%=stringVariable>"/>
    </jsp:include>and extract the paramName's corresponding value as a request parameter in other JSP.
    Hope that might answer your question :)
    REGARDS,
    RaHuLRaHul,
    Thanks for the reply. The second example you gave is what I was trying to do. I thought I did exactly what you have there and it was not working. I will check it over again and post back on here when I have a chance.
    For now I was trying to use c:set to save the variable in the request and then using the EL expression ${requestScope.variable} to put it in the <jsp:param> element. I had some things working and others not when I quit. Hopefully tomorrow I can give you a full report and we can get this worked out.
    Maybe my problem is something else? Look at this post of mine:

  • Using a variable in netsh command to set ip address on NIC

    hi friends
    i wrote an script which gets an input & use that variable to set ip address on NIC. but actually it doesn't set ip address. may you please help me.
    my script contains:
    $VMNumber=Read-Host "please enter your VM number (for example 2)"
    Netsh interface ipv4 set address NIC static 192.168.1.$VMNumber

    1. I do not thing that the use of netsh is a right way.
    2. You will need a table with MAC address in first column and IP address in second to correctly map IP address to computer. MAC addresses are unique identification.
    3. Follow this article including comments and adapt scripts to your task

    hi Milos
    thank a lot for your useful answer.
    but let me say that my need has nothing to do with MAC address.
    in my test lab, i need an script which asks the administrators to enter their VM number & it saves this input as a variable & set is as the last octet in their VM IPV4 Address.
    so can we tell it as a rule that variables we create in powershell, can't be used inside non cmdlets (inside legacy cmd commands) ?

  • Using a variable in a js function argument

    Folks,
    This is very basic, but I still cannot get it...
    I have this js function in an ASP page:function MM_changeProp(objId,x,theProp,theValue) { //v9.0
      var obj = null; with (document){ if (getElementById)
      obj = getElementById(objId); }
      if (obj){
        if (theValue == true || theValue == false)
          eval("obj.style."+theProp+"="+theValue);
        else eval("obj.style."+theProp+"='"+theValue+"'");
    }i don't understand the function, as it was put in automatically by dreamweaver. right now, i am using this onclick event of an image:<div id="apDiv19" onclick="MM_changeProp('apDiv7','','backgroundColor','#FFFF00','DIV')"></div>the #FFFF00 is the color YELLOW. it is being passed to the theValue argument of the js. what i simply want to do is establish a global variable that will house a color string (like #FFFF00), and then use it in the function argument everytime i need the function. something like this:<div id="apDiv19" onclick="MM_changeProp('apDiv7','','backgroundColor',VARIABLE,'DIV')">i do not know how to do two things:
    1) initialize and assign the variable a value, and where to establish it (inside the script tags? in the head? in the body?)
    2) how to use the variable as an argument in the function
    any help greatly appreciated for this novice. thanks!

  • Using a variable in an instance name

    Hey all,
    Simple question:
    I'm trying to use a variable to call on different instance names:
    var picCaller:uint=2;
    material_mc.addChild(pic_""+picCaller+"");
    The code in red is the issue in question.  In this example, I'm trying to add a child called "pic_2", with the number two called from the variable "picCaller"
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Just for context, here is what I'm trying to do:
    I have jpegs in my library and I want to add them to the stage when they're needed, so just to add one image, here is the code I have:
    var pic_1=new pic1(0,0);
    var image_1:Bitmap=new Bitmap(pic_1);
    material_mc.addChild(image_1);
    I want to put the above into a loop so that I dont have to repeat those three lines for every image in my library like so:
    var pic_1=new pic1(0,0);
    var image_1:Bitmap=new Bitmap(pic_1);
    var pic_2=new pic2(0,0);
    var image_2:Bitmap=new Bitmap(pic_2);
    var pic_3=new pic3(0,0);
    var image_3:Bitmap=new Bitmap(pic_3);
    var pic_4=new pic4(0,0);
    var image_4:Bitmap=new Bitmap(pic_4);
    var pic_5=new pic5(0,0);
    var image_5:Bitmap=new Bitmap(pic_5);
    var pic_6=new pic6(0,0);
    var image_6:Bitmap=new Bitmap(pic_6);
    var pic_7=new pic7(0,0);
    var image_7:Bitmap=new Bitmap(pic_7);
    the variable "picNum" is the total amount of images that in the library, each one exported as "pic1", "pic2", "pic3" respectively.
    var picNum:uint=7;
    var picCaller:uint=1;
    var  picMC:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
    picMC=this["pic_"+picCaller];
    for (var  i:int = 1; i <= picNum; i=i+1)
         var "pic_"+i = new image_i(0,   0);
         var image:Bitmap = new Bitmap("pic_"+i);
    Thanks so much for your help.
