Using SUDO for SAP Administration
Hi,
We have the need for security reasons to implement the program SUDO for system administration of SAP and DB.
Now, not knowing SUDO my questions are:
Since SUDO login with a signature by name (ex. smith) I can make all administrative tasks that today, for SAP literature, must be conducted with SIDADM and ORASID directly on the systems?
Also, if you can, there are restrictions / limits for the administration and SAP DB?
Regards,
Diego.
Sudo is simply a command that let you execute commands as another user.
As per my experience using it, it will just mean that you'll have to logon with your user and then do sudo to sidadm or orasid, that should not stop you from doing your daily tasks.
must be conducted with SIDADM and ORASID directly on the systems?
Certainly.
there are restrictions / limits for the administration and SAP DB?
I didn't get this question.
Regards
Juan

"Case use" technique for SAP implementation?
Hello all,
has anyone used "case use" technique for SAP implementation? I mean for standard process, not only developing.
Any recommendation about it?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
AdolfoIt would be helpful to go through the help document of ASAP Methodology.
The following information may clarify some doubts/requirements you have.
Generating the Project IMG through ASAP:
After you have set the project scope, the next step is to generate the Project IMG. From the Business Process Master List (BPML), you can directly access the IMG activities relevant for configuring each process.
BPML: The Business Process Master List, along with the Business Blueprint, is a key result of the second phase of the Roadmap. Microsoft Excel tables contain the SAP scenarios, process groups, and processes that have been set in scope in the SAP Reference Structure, and are crucial for configuring your SAP System. In Realization, the third phase of the Roadmap, the BPML provides the basis for monitoring and steering test activities and for configuring your SAP System. It contains the titles of the structure items, and displays the status, the owner, links to documentation and links to the SAP System. Amongst other things, the BPML allows you to:
1) Set your baseline and final scope. These are used for baseline and final configuration.
2) Access the Project IMG and specific IMG activities assigned to structure items.
3) Access integration test plans, which help you carry out all required integration tests.
The Prerequisite is you have set the project scope.
Process Flow to use the Business Blueprint as a basis for configuring your SAP System:
1) Set the project scope.
2) Generate the Project IMG.
3) Generate the BPML.
4) From a specific processes in the BPML, you can go to the relevant IMG activities and make Customizing settings. -

Labels, Portrait vs. Landscape, using CR for SAP B1
I posted this question in the CR reports forum, but was told by the moderator that since Crystal Reports for B1 is an OEM product I need to post to the B1 forum.
I am using Crystal Reports for SAP Business One, Version 12.1.0.892.
I've read the info here about dealing with rotating labels, [in regular CR forum] but I still don't know how to implement it in my version. I've tried several things and I always end up with a rotated label. The Page Setup directions provided seem inconsistent. Here's what I mean.
I need to create a 3" x 2" label. I start with a blank report.
On Page Setup, under Page Options, there is a check mark in Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Papaer Size. I leave it.
In the drop down box, I change Letter to User Defined Size.
Set Unit to Inches.
Set Horizontal to 3, and Vertical to 2.
(Orientation, which started at Portrait switches itself to Landscape. I leave it at Landscape.)
Set all 4 Margins to 0. (I'll handle them myself in the document layout and I don't want to confuse the size issue.)
Create test report. Report looks ok on screen. Looks ok when exported to PDF. Send to printer and it comes out sideways.
Reopen Page Setup. According to directions in [CR] forum, I'm supposed to uncheck Dissociate option. I do that. Drop box changes to Organizer J. I try to change it back to User Defined, but that is no longer and option.
Horizontal and Vertical have changed themselves and are grayed out.
I change Orientation from Landscape to Portrait.
Now my workspace on the label is 2.75"; wide, a sidewise Organizer J, apparently.
How do I set up my Page to get a simple 3" x 2" label?
TIA
Solution found: Create label as 3" X 3" and only use first 2" of vertical. Orientation stays correct. On printer setup, define Label as #" x 2" and the printer fixes the overflow.
Edited by: Cindy Lange on Jun 14, 2011 5:33 PMHello,
Crystal Reports for B1 is an OEM product. Please post your question to the B1 forum. this was fixed in CR Patches for CR 2008 but you cannot apply those patches to your OEM build.
Thank you

Problem with using DTW for SAP BO PL11
Hello, experts!
I'm using SAP B1 8.8 PL 11, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition.
I have a script, which put data for Item Master Data import into temporary table, after that I want to transfer this data via DTW into SAP B1 database.
There are some new rules for DTW beginning from PL 10; I've adapted my script - removed RecordKey and replaced it with ParentKey everywhere in child tables.
But when I try to use DTW with ODBC connection, and press Test in form, where query should been specified, in result table values for first column are spreaded for the second one: first column ItemCode and second column ItemName are equal to Item Code (http://s39.radikal.ru/i083/1009/0b/b7071404dc99.jpg). But in SQL:http://s001.radikal.ru/i195/1009/1c/3cb40e506842.jpg
If I don't press Test and just use it, it shows me a lot of import errors like "Invalid XML Wrong value for column" and shows that Column received shifted value from neighbour column (i.e. ItemName column received value from ItemCode column).
My table has following structure (all column names were copied from appropriate template file, bundled with DTW, saving the order):
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[tmpsapb1_Items](
[ItemCode] [varchar](50) NOT NULL,
[ItemName] [varchar](60) NOT NULL,
[ForeignName] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[ItemsGroupCode] [varchar](10) NULL,
[CustomsGroupCode] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[SalesVATGroup] [varchar](2) NOT NULL,
[BarCode] [varchar](8000) NOT NULL,
[VatLiable] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[PurchaseItem] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[SalesItem] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[InventoryItem] [varchar](4) NOT NULL,
[IncomeAccount] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[ExemptIncomeAccount] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[ExpanseAccount] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[Mainsupplier] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[SupplierCatalogNo] [varchar](17) NULL,
[DesiredInventory] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[MinInventory] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[Picture] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[User_Text] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,
[SerialNum] [varchar](1) NOT NULL,Your temporary table will be the first trouble maker. ItemCode length is 20 for example. Check the item master table structure and recreate your temporary table.
Thanks,

Would you please help? I am curious why use JCL but NOT sm36/sm37? Thanks!
Linda,
Could you perhaps elaborate a little please?
There are many cases where something must run on the database server itself, and since by definition that is z/OS for DB2 z/OS, JCL is submitted for those tasks. Several tasks such as "Update data for transaction DB02" in the DBA calendar will schedule an SAP batch job (which can be viewed in SM37). The SAP batch jobs in turn use the JCL submission service to perform a task on z/OS.

Business-use-cases for SAP BusinessObjects BI in Sports
Hello,
I have been scouring various SAP resources to find any information on SAP BOBJ in Sports and Entertainment. Do you know of any specific use-cases where BOBJ can help professional sports team franchises, specifically within the Finance LOB? I.e. using analytics to increase ticketing revenue or gain meaningful insights into operations.
Best regards,

Using JRockit for SAP JVM (JDK 1.4.2_37b02)
Can I use JRockit to monitor SAP JVM (J2EE) threads, memory, Garbage Collector?
We are running on Windows 2003, SP2 with MS SQL 2005. We run SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.02 on Sun Partner JDK 1.4.2_37
SAP has there own SAP Memory Analyzer Profiler tools, but there graphs, messaging (email, sms, etc.) as well as reports are weak.
Thanks.
JamesNo, this will not work. The SAP JVM is based on Hotspot, while the JRockit tools require the JRockit JVM to work.

Using Roles for Delagated Administration
Hi all,
Does anyone know if the following is possible in 2005Q1 version of Access Manager?
I have created a top level organisation in Access Manager (dc=myorg,dc=com), and this organisation has some sub-organisations i.e (o=customers,dc=myorg,dc=com). What I would like to do is create a role in the top level organisation, to assign to users that will manage entries in sub-organisations.
So for example, uid=chris,ou=people,dc=myorg,dc=com must be a user that can be assigned the role "Customer Admin" which will enable him to only create/administer users in ou=people,o=customers,dc=myorg,dc=com.
Is this at all possible in Access Manager, and how would one go about setting up such a structure?
Any help appreciated
Thanx
ChrisHello Chris,
We have done this recently with our portal implementation. Check out:
http://docs.sun.com/source/817-7691/dadmnadm.html
The general steps are:
1. Define the ACI's for the new "manager" roles
2. Creating the manager roles with the above ACI's
3. Configure Display Options for the manager roles
4. Configure Available Actions for the manager roles
5. Assign roles to users.
Steps 1 and 2 are documented in the above link. The combination of steps 3 and 4 restrict the views of the AM console so the manager users only sees Users and Roles.
Hope that helps

Smart card prompt when using RDP for server administration
I know I can't be the only one but I can't find any answers. WHen I use RDP to connect to my 2012 server I get the two option in the interface....my "domain\username" and "other". I click on my username that is already there and it only gives
me an option to "use a smart card". Is that a local policy or a group policy setting being pushed out from my 2003 DC? Thanks in advance!
Steve CarnesHi,
Pls run the gpresult.exe on your server 2012 to see whether there are any
Smart card related policies applied.Especially check the policy

What RapidMart is using to connect SAP R/3?
Hi, We used Data services for mostly OLTP system and now we are thinking of using it for SAP R/3 system. I read that the most efficient method for large amount of data is to use SAP ABAP call using SAP R/3 Data flow. We can create ABAP program from DS and load in SAP system. We want to know what rapidmarts are using. I don't think rapidmart is using ABAP method to connect SAP R/3 and get data.
Can someone clarify?
Thanks,I got no reply so closing this thread.

Where can I find JKM for SAP ERP?
Hi,
My source system is SAP ERP, my journalizing mode is consistent set. But I can't find any JKM suitable for them.
Anyone used to work with CDC on SAP ERP source ? What JKM you chose? help me.
Thankshi,
My SAP system install on Unix Server with Oracle Database. If I cannot use JKM for SAP ABAP technology, can I use JKM for Oracle technology ?
My DBA said that SAP not recommend config its Center Database. So, he do not give me SID, Schema, Pass for use ODI.
He and I are arguing on that.
Thanks for reply. -
Look in the company I work in this moment we are using Unix for SAP, but we are deciding the possibility to change it for Linux, but they want to investigate first the disadvantage of doing this, so I need to investigate it, because is easy to investigate the good thinks of Linux but not the problems that could have.
Hi Elsa,
we are running all of our R/3, BW, CRM Systems including XI 3.0 on RHL3 and Oracle as DB and no issue at all. I think the switch from Unix should not be a problem.
Cheers

Hi
Would really appreciate if any one could tell me how much database knowledge is required for SAP Administration.
Basically,I don't have much database knowledge so what would be the best options i.e course to learn database if DBA knowledge is required.
Awaiting for your reply.
Thanks
SukrutHi Sukrut,
Nowa-days due to cost cutting , the organizations are looking for BASIS resource with DBA skills. You don`t have to be a hard core DBA to survive support projects but you need to have a real knowledge if it comes to managing a big database especially in a complex environment.
In general, the tool provided by SAP - SAPDBA or BRTOOLS will take care of the DBA part completely by putting less pressure on BASIS. The SAPDBA / BRTOOLS can perform activities required for DB maintanence in a less complex way.
You don`t have to be a hardcore DBA, just gain skills on basics of DBA like backup, datafile maintanence and troubleshooting procedures.
regards,
Vinodh.
