Using t3s with applets

Hi -
We have a few applets accessing EJB's on WebLogic 5.1 (SP 6) which utilize
"t3" as the protocol and don't have any problem getting Contexts and issuing
requests. However, once we switch to t3s, we get an error indicating that
the server can't be found at t3s://myserver:443. This is not a firewall
problem (we've tested it with no firewall in place), nor does it appear to
be a certificate problem (WL server is running in 128-bit mode with a valid
cert, etc.) Does anyone have any experience running applets and WL,
particularly over t3s? I've included a stack trace below. Thanks in
advance -

FYI, I believe we have a legitimate fix, but we're still waiting for an
official stance from WL. The "fix" we've implemented includes the previously
mentioned workaround, plus the layering of SP8 weblogic.security package on
top of SP6.

Hi -
It appears there's a bug with WL's RSA classes in SP6 (RSAKey, RSApkcs1),
128-bit vesion. We've hacked a couple of fixes which appear to work, butI'm
wondering if anyone else can confirm this. Thanks -

    Hello,
    I've got an applet that consumes a lot of CPU. I'm studying to migrate this applet to a pda, but it's not enough cpu for it. I'm reading JMF docs and I decide to generate a movie with the output of an applet. If it's possible? My idea is to create the movie on the server. I can modify my applet to avoid the use of the applet inheritance and then render the output to an standard movie format. After I will send the movie to the browser
    You can see the applet here. Click on View route 3D under the flash movie.

  • Using bc4j with applets

    Hi,
    I was wondering if you have any tips on using bc4j in applets. The 2 biggest problems I'm having is the jar size of the applet after all libs are included
    (4MB+) and the fact that I can't use XDK, JNDI, BC4J and some other libs from applets unless I sign them or change the policy file at each client using the applets.
    I really think all the calls to System.getProperties(), etc. should be placed inside try catch blocks to catch the security exceptions raised by xdk, RMIInitialContextFactory, etc. and handled using
    defaults for properties... it'd be even better if these properties could be set in another way as well.

  • How to use dll with applet?

    I want to use a dll with a applet.
    I try several solutions : signed applet, dll in jar, ... But without any result.

    U can use it if u sign the applet. It is a bit trick way though.
    Create an inputstream, read and copy the dll to some where path is defined (System dir for ex) from jar. Then load that library.. But u need a dummy class for that before starting applet. Rest is ur brain.. Best of luck. I tried and succeded.

  • Using MVC with Applet inside Servlet

    Hello fellow Java developers,
    I want to implement the Model View Controller concept inside a Bean Applet combination running in a servlet environment.
    When my model (the Bean) changes, I want my Applet (the View) to get notified so it can get the update from the Bean. The Applet is incorporated inside the jsp page (e.g. the servlet). The Bean is known inside the jsp. How do I make that same Bean known inside the Applet?
    When I create a new Bean during init, or in the constructor of the Applet, I get a complete other reference than the Bean inside the jsp. So, when I ask information from the Bean, I often get NullPointerExceptions, because I am referencing the wrong Bean.
    Does anyone have a solution for my problem?
    Regards,
    Michel

    hi,
    a servlet is server side object, an applet is client side object.
    For the communication, you should try HttpUrlConnection from applet to servlet.
    another way is tu use ejb, or rmi communcation

  • Using sockets with Applet

    Hey,
    I have a website which has an applet on one of the pages. I put in code that uses a socket to connect to MY computer. ( i want to use my computer as a server which stores data/accounts/etc) A SecurityException was thrown when I tested the applet. Is what I'm trying to do possible? or does something like this have to connect to a server which is on my website?
    Thanks

    I believe you can run something like this by signing the applet.
    And then the user has the option of allowing or disallowing a signed applet to do that kind of thing. I don't know which is the default.

    An applet cannot read the local file system, connect to any other computer than the one
    it came from or read properties it's not supposed to read. And I think it cannot write to any
    property.
    If you sign the applet or set up a policy for it the applet can do the same as an application
    allthough the jre will still check the stack trace if the entire stack has the same privileges
    as you signed applet.

  • Transferring files from users mashines on the server. Uploading with applet

    I'm trying to create applet that would do uploading of user file on the server.
    I'm woundering, Is there any ways to use java applet to open a file on user mashine into a stream and transfer it thought socket into
    server? Is there any good solution that do uploading with java applet? (I can't use CGI or PHP)
    I just noticed that applets don't support FileInputStream. How could I in general get information from user file?
    Ok. Thanks for ideas that you gave me. But there are useless. All that I can use is only HTTP. Unfortunately no FTP, no Web Start application.
    looking for help

    well, i don't work a lot with applets because of their inherent limitations. but my guess would be that you have to somehow use a signed applet. of course that doesn't help with the FileInputStream problem you are talking about.
    if i were going to do it and i couldn't use FTP, i'd write a WebStart app that calls servlets (sending it byte arrays) and the servlets will construct the files on the server...
    i have no clue how you are going to do what you want...

  • Can parport be used in a applet?

    I have been trying to get parport to read and write in an applet but have had no success. It works fine at the command line but when used in the applet it stops my applet program when it comes to executing the read function.
    My first idea was keep the parport read and write codes completely seperate from the applet in their own class file and then call the class file to be run. Is this at all possible?
    I have posted the code to see if i can make this clearer
    import parport.ParallelPort;
    class SimpleIO {
    public static void main ( String []args )
    ParallelPort lpt1 = new ParallelPort(0x378); // 0x378 is normally the base address for the LPT1 port
    int aByte;
    aByte = lpt1.read(); // read a byte from the port's STATUS pins
    System.out.println("Input from parallel port: " + aByte);
    aByte = aByte >> 2; // a simple and irrelevant operation
    lpt1.write(aByte); // write a byte to the port's DATA pins
    System.out.println("Output to port: " + aByte);
    //////////////This code above will be kept in its own java file called SIMPLEIO.java////////
    I then want to call and run this code from my applet java file. After some experimenting i think i have found out that you need the
    public static void main ( String []args ) line in the parport code in order for it work properly. What code would i use to call and run this code from the applet file
    Thx for reading my long post and thx to all who try and help me out

    My first idea was keep the parport read and write codes completely seperate from the applet in their
    own class file and then call the class file to be run. Is this at all possible?No. The problem is that applets run in what's called a sandbox which prevents them, and any classes called from them, from doing any local IO.
    This is essential for security, since a web page can run an applet without the user knowing about it, and it could get up to all kinds of mischief.
    You can digitally sign the applet, which will then ask the user for permission to run with reduced restrictions. A quick search of java/sun should turn up some instructions.

    StreamResult result = new StreamResult(out);
    TransformerFactory tf = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
    Transformer transformer = tf.newTransformer();//wrong
    transformer.transform(doms,result);
    str=result.toString();
    catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
         public void paint(Graphics g)
              g.drawString(str, 50, 60 );
    }

    The problem is that using the transformer in an applet results in the exception:
    The exception is as following:

    I am still unclear to the cause, when I create a copy of the output_xml.properties file and put it somewhere in your classpathe (I put mine in a jar that the applet loads) you get:

    What is XMLEntities.res, and how do I get one?
    Does anyone know which version of Xalan and JAXP comes with J2SE 1.4.1?
    Why the package "org.apache.xalan.Version" is not in the J2SE 1.4.1 release (and should it be?)

  • A new webcam with applets  problems

    hi
    I have some doubt abot webcam with applets
    here are my questions......
    1. There is client(s) and server systems.....
    webcam is connected to clientside and image from webcam should be captured from
    client(s) and to be sent to server ,through web only. Is there are any possibilities to do this
    thing without applets..?
    if so please tell me abt that..
    2. with applets is there any methods to access client webcam without using signed aplets and
    certificating (IE such as setting browser are some settings allow all applets in client machine .etc)
    3. i heard about we can have our own signature and certificates (without aproved by any CA)
    is it possible if so how can we achive that..?
    Im a student doing my projects,I have gone through several applets and webcam related JMF forums but all are old dated and may be new technologies arrived and I couldnot able make clear my doubts comfortably...
    sorry for rising old topic but
    it wold be gracefull if anybody clear my doubts please kindly give me the ans.
    thanks in advance

    Hi
    Let me take a crack at this, :)
    1) No
    2)Anything that is required to access anything of a clients computer, i.e com ports,files and resources needs a signed applet.
    3)http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Security/Signed/
    And yes you have to work with
    http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/
    in order to capture images
