Using telnet sockets and running stand alone

Hi all,
I'm writing a Flex application that uses sockets to
communicate through Telnet / port 23 with AV control devices over
the local network. The target is to run the application locally (so
not from a web server) from a PC.
The application works fine from my development machine.
However when I copy the bin folder to the target machine, the
telnet connections refuse to open. Actually, it appears that
wherever I copy the bin folder (including to a different location
on my machine) the connections won't open. Simple opening the html
file from the bin folder on my machine works perfectly.
Anyone have any idea what could be wrong or what I can do to
fix this. Any input would be greatly appeciated.

Installing ODI Studio and ODI Stand-alone on 64 bit Windows 7

Can anybody tell me which ODI downloads I need in order to install ODI Studio and ODI Stand-alone on my 64-bit Windows 7 machine?
I've already created the DB repository with RCU, but I'm having trouble with the ODI installation: I just spent an hour and a half downloading 2.5GB of installers that turned out to be wrong - the SETUP.EXE complained that it was a 32 bit installer and wouldn't work on 64 bit Windows - so I now need to find a 64-bit installer instead (another 2.5GB presumably...). Not sure which of the multiple download options to choose and I don't want to spend all day waiting for the wrong files to download again.
Looking through OTN and the (typically confusing) Oracle installation docs, there's a load of stuff about using 32-bit JREs on 64-bit Windows to get around 64/32-bit Java problems later on, or lots of stuff about all the Fusion requirements etc. But I don't want the JEE stuff (I already have about 4 different WebLogic installations because every time I install any Oracle "Fusion" stuff it slaps another WebLogic in there as well), and I'm miles away from getting any Java runtime problems with ODI when I can't even figure out the right installer to use for 64 bit Windows.
Maybe it's just me: every time I try to install any of Oracle's server products (apart from the RDBMS itself), I end up wading through endless lists of cross-linked installation pre-requisites and searching OTN forums for the single secret combination of installer/JDK/JRE/operating system/database character-set/RDBMS version and desperate prayers to minor deities that will permit the installation to go ahead...
So any help will be gratefully received!

Yes, I have waited for a while and the result doesn't change.
The Porblem here is the application is seen started in visual administrator.Only restart brings up the page back.

with an iphone 3G the most up to date ios is 4.2.1 so you have a problem because whatsapp requires a higher version. If you saved an earlier version of whatsapp you could install that otherwise you cannot use the app. You will need to get a more up to date phone

How to run stand alone executables developed with different versions of LabView on the same system

I am using LabVIEW 8.2 to develop a stand alone executable for a target system. The target system already has a stand alone executable written by another vendor, using LabVIEW 7.1. I installed the LV RunTime Engine for 8.2 which left the 7.1 engine intact (as it should). The problem I am now having is that the drivers installed on the target system are incompatible with the NI-DMM vi's that I am using. My concern is that if I replace the old drivers with the ones I am using on my development platform I may end up breaking the old software. What would be an appropriate work around to ensure that the target system will be able to run both executables? (FWIW the system will NOT be running both executables concurrently.)
The target system is an embedded PXI card cage, running Windows XP, with a NI PXI-4070 DMM (among other instruments, however I have had not had this issue with the NI-DAQmx drivers).

Thanks for sharing your issue with the community. I am struggling to see what you mean by "break the software." If you only have the two executables and LV Run-Time versions 8.2 & 7.1, then you just need to go to http://www.ni.com/support/ » Drivers and Updates » Search within Results: » enter "NI-DMM" » GO to get the DMM driver you need. To see the driver you were using on the development machine, just go to Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). The DMM driver should also automatically install DAQmx, NI-VISA, and NI-IVI, fyi.

i don't think you could ever protect the jsp code and it wouldn't do you much good to bother anyway, since anyone with a browser can just "View Source" and see all the HTML on the page anyway.
the only thing you would want to protect is your java source. you don't have to distribute the .java files with your application, just the .class's. you could try and obfuscate the .class files, but a determined person will always be able to reverse it back to a .java program and read it. it would take a bit of work and knowhow though, so figure out how smart the consumer is going to be and if they will be able to figure out how to reverse .class files back to .java

Stray Blob with Dual Monitors and a Stand Alone exe

Hi,
When I run any stand alone exe that I make on a dual monitor system (XP Media Center) I get a blob (see attachment) that is stuck in the middle of the primary monitor. I tried a very simple app and a complicated one. Clicking on this blob will make my app run in the foreground and if my app is in the foreground then the blob will show up in front of everything else except for my app.
I'm using LabVIEW 8.01.

[Acceleo] Running stand alone

Hi,
This time I'm not asking a question but posting some findings which might be helpful or might lead into creating a bug report.
My goal is to run an acceleo generator stand alone. I did the following:
- create metamodel
- create acceleo project
- create templates
(business as usual)
I ensured that my language packages were registered and that the xmi resource factory was registered (see Acceleo help, reference, stand-alone).
Then I right clicked the acceleo project and tried to export it as a runnable jar. Just using the default settings lead to a jar file that does not contain the emtl file. Do I need to create a bug report for this one, or is this expected behavior?
I did it again but this time I selected 'Save as ANT script'. The resulting jar file did not contain the emtl file but running the ANT script does ensure that the emtl file is added. This is the one that lead to a working version!
Even though I succeeded, I did it again but this time I selected in Library handling: package required libraries into generated jar. Apparently this changes how resources are loaded and I got a 'file not found' exception. Might be involved with the 'jar-in-jar-loader' implementation. Do I need to create a bug report for this one, or is this expected behavior?

Yes ....I did observe that when i tried to install the setup files on the target computer. I had activated the labview software and the run-time engine by using the NI license activator v1.1.I cannot see any serial codes so how should i activate only the run-time engine using such an activator on my target PC? I searched but couldn't find an answer for this....
I have also installed an evaluation mode of the vision RTE on my target (2009 version) but now when I run my executable it shows error for the functions that capture images such as enumerate cameras, open and close ( all pertaining to image acquisition functions: IMAQ USB). How should I incorporate these functions on a target PC which does not have VAS or LABVIEW installed?

How to use matlab codes in a stand alone application without matlab license?

I am not an expert in programming and i don't know about C++, i have a program using matlab codes and now i want to transfer it to a computer without matlab license. I've read something about using DLL, but i think i have to know C++ programming to wrtie "WRAPPER" and add some lines to the program, now transformed in C++.
I just would llike to know that really isn't any other way to integrate matlab for a stand-alone application? i read somethings in Matlab help about using COM (Common Object Model ) but i am not sure that labview works with it, and also about runtime engine and "mglinstaller.exe".
my labview version is 8, matlab is 2006, and the real problem is using matlab codes in another computer without matlab license.

Hello Amir,
There is a MatLab script node in the LabVIEW function palette (see screenshot of the help topic) but as you can see this structure is not in the "Base LabVIEW", you might need to purchase the FDS (Full Developpment System) or the PDS (Professionnal Developpment System) of LabVIEW...
Do you know which one you have ?

Using 27" screen as a stand alone monitor

Does anyone know more about iMac 2011 as a stand alone monitor? such as:
- Does it disable the cpu/internal graphics chip to reduce power consumption?
- Is it wired separately so that the monitor part can function independently from the rest of the system?

For most uses the answer is no, however if someone is using another 2011 iMac or 2011 MacBook Pro and connect with a Thunderbolt connection that should work.

How to kill Forms Runaway Process using 95% CPU and running for 2 hours.

We had a situation at E-Business Suite customer (using Oracle VM server) where some of Form processes were not being cleared by form timeout settings automatically.
Also when user exits the form session from front end, the linux form process (PID) and DB session did not exit properly, so they got hung.
They were spiking CPU and memory usage and causing e-business suite to perform slowely and ultimately causing VM host to reboot the production VM guest (running on Linux).
We could see the form processes (PIDs) using almost 100% cpu with "top" command and running for a long time.
Also we verified those Form Sessions did not exist in the application itself.
ie. Using from Grid Control -> OAM-> Site Map -> Monitoring (tab) -> "Form Sessions".
It means that we could safely kill that form process from Linux using "kill -9 <PID>" command.
But that required a continuous monitoring and manual DBA intervention as customer is 24x7 customer.
So, I wrote a shell script to do the following;
•     Cron job runs every half an hour 7 days a week which calls this shell script.
•     Shell script runs and tries to find "top two" f60webmx processes (form sessions) using over 95% cpu with 2 minutes interval.
•     If no process is found or CPU% is less than 95%, it exits and does nothing.
•     If top process is found, it searches for its DB session using apps login (with hidden apps password file - /home/applmgr/.pwd).
a.     If DB session is NOT found (which means form process is hung), it kills the process from unix and emails results to <[email protected]>
b.     If DB session is found, it waits for 2 hours so that form process times automatically via form session timeout setting.
It also emails the SQL to check the DB session for that form process.
c.     If DB session is found and it does not timeout after 2 hours,
it kills the process from unix (which in turn kills the DB session). Output is emailed.
This are the files required for this;
1. Cron job which calls the shell script looks like this;

If you have the same problem with some other unix and DB processes, the script can be easily modified and used.
But use this with thorough testing first (by commenting out <kill -9 $PID1> lines.

Set env using a script and run the command (dependency on the env)

I need to set the env varaible by running a shell script with arguments as 'ksh setEnviron r6.1' and then run the command in the
same process. the command has dependency on the previous script which sets the env variables.
With Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd1); ,Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd2); I am not able to execute the Cmd2 as it is running in different process.
How do solve this issue.
Is there any other method to run the command to set env variables and run the second command.(dependent on the env) to get the output.
Please help me out in this.

Do you think I used the '-i' argument just for fun? Did you do a 'man sh' and 'man bash' to see what the arguments do? If not then do it now.
Do you think I used Theads to process stderr and stdout just for fun? I've shown you the basic approach. I have shown you how you need to create Threads to process stdout and stderr. Using timeout items and running the background engine

Hi all!
I tried to read all the information about timeouts and engine, but I think I don't understand anything.
I want to use a loop, that after every 4 minutes runs the given plsql code until 15 times.
There are 4 different result. 1: continue the loop, 2: good result, 3: bad result, 4: loop reachs max running count (15).
1. I don't know how to set the result code.
2. How start the background engine. Is it startable from my plsql code? I have to start the engine at every item_type and item_key pair, or I have to start it only once?

You need not handle Loop Max out in your result. You can handle that usng Loop Counter standard activity that you can find in the WF Builder. Insert this counter in the Loop.
Write a simple Function Activity that you want to be executed every 4 minutes. That also sits in the Loop.
Now insert a WAIT activity in the loop that should wait for 4 minutes relative to the current completion time. So, that loop will look like...
----> Function ----> Wait ----> Loop Counter ----> (Go back to Function on loop... exit out if maxed out)
The exit condition transition for the loop occurs from Loop Counter activity.
You don't need a timeout here anywhere. Running background engine should be purely outside of your code. It is a concurrent program that you can schedule to run at regular intervals for whatever parameter you choose.
