Using the deployment XML in a J2EE container

looking for some assistance on deploying toplink in a felxible manner. I've thus far been using toplink by generating a deployment XML and accessing it in the following manner -
XMLProjectReader reader = new XMLProjectReader();
Project builderProject = reader.read("C:\\...\\Mapping.xml");
Server server = builderProject.createServerSession();
etc ...
time to go to production! is there a way in which i can access the mapping file from within my web application, rather than referencing a directory path?
project details:
deployed as war, struts, plain java beans + toplink, no ejbs
the thread: 'How to use TopLink's mapping info at runtime' (Re: How to use TopLink's mapping info at runtime
seems to point to the right direction - just need the blanks filled in
cheers

Hi Con,
You should make use of the SessionManager class to load in a configuration of the session type you want. (Preferrably a ServerSession). The configuration is found in a file called sessions.xml.
Place this file along with the project.xml file in the root of the WAR.
Consult the documentation for a more formal explanation of this process.
Here's a shortened version:
The sessions.xml file points to a project.xml file via the <project-xml> tag. The sessions.xml file contains a lot more information about how the session is configured such as connection pooling and logging.
At runtime when the SessionManager is asked to get a session, it automatically looks in the sessions.xml file for the session name that you provide.
The code would look something like this in production:
SessionManager manager = SessionManager.getManager();
ServerSession serverSession = (ServerSession)manager.getSession("mySession", this.class.getClassLoader());
For examples, please refer to the TopLink install folder/examples.
If there's something specific about deployment that you need help with, just post the question.
Thanks,
Darren Melanson

  • Using the deployment plan to extend the security roles

    Hi,
    We have an existing application that has a set of security roles defined. This app has been deployed to Weblogic.
    We would like provide additional security roles through this application. Currently, we have been doing this by manually editing the web.xml and the weblogic.xml files and redeploying the app. Is there any way to achieve this using the deployment plan feature ? If yes, how do we do it?

  • Embedding inline HTML data in XML using the mx:XML tag with &lt; and &gt;

    What is best practice for embedding HTML within the
    <mx:XML> tag? Programmatically, I can implement this
    successfully:
    [Bindable]
    public var xmlDP:XML = <component data="&lt;" />;
    However, I get the following error if I try to store the same
    data inline in an mx:XML tag, as such:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="&lt;" />
    </mx:XML>
    Error #1095: XML parser failure: Unterminated attribute.
    If I change the MXML tag as follows, it works fine:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="&amp;lt;" />
    </mx:XML>
    Unfortunately, I also can not source the mx:XML tag to an XML
    file which uses &lt; or &gt; codes, as it yields the same
    results. This leads me to believe that the <mx:XML> tag does
    not support the special character codes for < and >, but why?
    Incidentally, this code also gives a 1095 error:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="&#0060;" />
    </mx:XML>
    This is causing an issue with my source data as it is not
    hand typed into Flex, and standard XML supports the &lt; and
    &gt; codes. I have tried a full HTML string, as shown below,
    but this also generates the error:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="&lt;b&gt;Test&lt;/b&gt;"
    />
    </mx:XML>
    Many thanks for any input you may have!

    I’m generating the XML source file with
    Microsoft’s XML Notepad 2007. It will encode invalid special
    characters automatically. My understanding is that this is the
    proper way to handle the less than symbol in a XML string, that is
    to say using the &lt; code.
    With respect to the escape and un-escape methods, I am able
    to successfully implement these in AS, but not in MXML. This makes
    sense considering they are AS methods, but I was hoping to be able
    to do something like:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="escape('<');" />
    </mx:XML>
    This gives the following compilation error:
    The value of attribute "data" must not contain the '<'
    character.
    As does using the escape character as such:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="\<" />
    </mx:XML>
    Below is an example of what the escape character may be used
    for in AS:
    var myString:String = "\"";
    trace(myString);
    // result: "
    Likewise, I can escape the < character as such:
    var myString:String = escape("<");
    trace(myString);
    // result: %3C
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="%3C" />
    </mx:XML>
    trace(un-escape(xmlDP.@data));
    // result: <
    As you can see, using %3C and unescaping in AS will yield the
    correct result; however, this is not a practical method of
    representing the data in MXML as I would have to write an AS method
    to un-escape the XML string anyway, so I might as well just store
    the data in AS to begin with. I was hoping for a way to source an
    mx:XML object, without having to load it into ActionScript
    manually. Here’s an example of the functionality I would
    expect:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="&gt;" />
    </mx:XML>
    trace(xmlDP.@data);
    // result: >
    Only this does not work for the less than symbol. I’m
    assuming at this point that this is a bug in the Flex compiler.
    Thanks again for your help troubleshooting this one!

  • How to use the activation library on SAP J2EE Engine

    Hi my friends:
       This post is referent to a note and their solution, but the solution is not clearly:
    Symptom:
    One wants to use the activation library provided together with the j2ee engine from an own library.
    Reason and Prerequisites:
    One wants to use the activation library from an own library but a ClassNotFound Exception or a NoClassDefFoundError keeps showing up.
    Solution:
    For J2EE Engine 6.30/6.40:
    To avoid the above mentioned exceptions one has to specify circular references between the activation library and the specific resource. When the engine's classloading system sees such references it creates a common loader for these resources and avoids the issue.
    Some one knows how to do circular references in my program????,
    i can use web applications or web dynpro with SAP Developer Studio Kit.

  • Using the fireworks XML RPC server

    Hi, I am trying to use the XML RPC server in fireworks to export pages of a PNG.
    The relevant help url: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/fireworks/cs/extend/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d1183c949219-7ffe. html
    And the pdf version: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/fireworks/cs/extend/fireworks_cs5_extending.pdf (chapter 7)
    All I want to do is open a file, call exportPages(), and close it. So far this has been a very painful experience. I have CS5 Design Premium on a mac (os 10.5) if it matters. But I have the same problem 1 with my copy of CS3.
    Problem 1
    Fireworks never ever returns a document id. It also does not return an error number. The value attribute of the returned obj element and any error attributes are empty. Here are some example calls and responses:
    request: <func name="createDocument" obj="fw"></func>
    response: <return><obj value="" class="DocumentClass"></obj></return>'
    request: <func name="closeDocument" obj="fw"><string order="0" value="0" /><bool order="1" value="false" /></func>
    response: <return error=""></return>
    Note the value of the response is empty. This is always the case, unless I get something back that is not an integer. For instance. I am able to get the path url of the open doc:
    request: <func name="getDocumentPath" obj="fw"></func>
    response: <return><string value="file:///Macintosh%20HD/Users/me/work/somefile.png"></string></return>
    Is anyone else using this with any success? Will a FW dev some here and set me straight? I am opening a socket with python like this:
    import socket
    self._sock = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM)
    self._sock.connect(('localhost', 12124))
    It seems like anything that is an int on FW end doesn't come through the response?
    Problem 2
    When I open a file that was created in CS3 with the API, a blocking dialog pops up asking about converting the fonts. FW will not return my request until this dialog is dismissed. Is there any way around this? This pretty much nullifies any automation with fireworks on files create by an older version.
    Any help or insight into either of these would be extraordinarily helpful. Or if you have a way to export pages from a FW PNG without running fireworks, I would love love love to hear it. Judging by the RPC documentation, the availability of info online (virtually none!) and my experience with it, it seems adobe doesn't care about it all that much.

    Hi Priyanka. It seems you are using the JS api? Flash? I am trying to use this via the XML RPC server in fireworks. Those are precisely the calls I am making to the RPC server with no avail: they do not return document ids. If you get a chance, can you (or anyone) run the following python code? Just open fireworks CS5, open a file and run this python code. It should return (print) the document id of the current document in a value="" attribute.
    import socket
    s = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM)
    s.connect(("localhost", 12124))
    dom = '<func name="getDocumentDOM" obj="fw"><string order="0" value="document" /></func>\0'
    s.send(dom)
    res = []
    r = s.recv(1)
    while ord(r):
        res.append(r)
        r = s.recv(1)
    print ''.join(res)
    Like I said earlier, this code works for me with CS3, but does not work with CS5; value="" is empty.
    I am not running this on a server. I am just trying to do some batch processing.

    For the last 5 years (and in IPCC3.x/4.x,UCCX/5.x/7.x) I've used the same basic subflow to read a XML document that contains holiday dates where the queue should be closed.  I've re-used this script on 20+ client installs and it's always worked.  The structure of the script allows you to pass the path and filename of the XML document as parameters to the subflow. (The document is in the repository)
    I loaded this script in UCCX 8.0.2 recently and it crashed with a Java.IO error.  It looked like it was trying to read the file system directly and not the repository. (In the Linux appliance model this kind of makes sense but why is the step trying to read the file system directly?)
    So I open a TAC case (SR# 615243125) and TAC tells me that the method of using the Create File Document step is not supported anymore and that I should specify the filename directly in the Create XML Document step
    The problem that I see (aside from having to edit all my scripts that use XML files) is that the Create XML Document step is looking for the input to be a type DOCUMENT and not a type STRING.  This seems to imply that I have to hardcode the document in each script that I deploy for a customer.  When it was a string it was easy to construct the full file path from parameters and pass to the subflow.
    Questions to the group
    #1 Am I missing something here?

    The create XML document input can only be a type DOCUMENT

    #1 Am I missing something here?
    You are mixing two different issues together here.
    The Create File Document step is indeed not needed or supported for creating an XML document. That is why there is a unique step; to trigger XML parsing within the MIVR subsystem.
    Accessing the file system is restricted to a single folder within the VOS model (i.e. 8.0+). This folder is not backed up, replicated, or cleaned up automatically. It was intended to give developers some FS access as a temporary swap location only.
    #2  Do you assume that you'll be able to load a script that
    worked fine in UCCX 7 into UCCX 8 and that it should completely
    function when you're doing everything according to the step reference
    documentation.
    Assume nothing; read the documentation and attend one of the dozens of partner training sessions that CCBU put on advising of the upcoming changes.
    #3 Cisco didn’t document this in any way that I can find.
    You're right, I guess, on the Create File vs. XML Document step. AFAIK Cisco never wrote a notice into the Step Reference Guide explicitly stating that you cannot use the Create File Document although the documentation seemed pretty clear to me without it. File system restrictions are documented in the 8.0 release notes.
    Scripting and Development Series: Volume 2, Editor Step ReferenceUse the Create XML Document step to create a logical document that maps a document to another document variable (where the document has already been pre-parsed as an XML document and is ready to be accessed by the Get XML Document Data step).Use this step before the Get XML Document Data step to obtain data from a document formatted using the Extensible Markup Language (XML).
    #4 How can you use the Create XML Document step in a fashion that would
    let you construct the path of the file and the filename previously in
    the script so you could pass it to a subflow ?  It would seem this functionality has been killed in UCCX 8
    No it hasn't; just concatinate a string to build the Source Document parameter the step needs. Example:  "DOC[" + myFilePath + "]"

  • Using JCo as an RFCServer in a J2EE Container (Threading Issue)

    Hello,
    I want to use JCo as an RFCServer in a J2EE Container
    (e.g. JBoss, BEA WLS or WAS6.40).
    Threrefore I use a the JCo.Server class
    as shown in Example5 in the JCo Examples.
    But the JCo.Server class starts a thread (JCo.ServerThread) for each Server(Listener).
    According to the J2EE specs it is not allowed
    to start (user) threads in a J2EE Container,
    because the container does the whole thread
    manangement/lifecycle.
    If JCo creates threads on its own, this might
    lead to erros. For Example: BEA WLS stores
    information in ThreadLocal variables and if you
    call a SessionBean from the JCoServer.handleRequest method
    the Container will (perhaps) fail, because the
    thread created by JCo does not have the ThreadLocals
    needed by the container.
    I know that there is the IServerThread interface in JCo,
    but I don't know how to use it in a J2EE Container.
    What is the correct way to implement a JCo Server
    in a J2EE container?
    Does anyone know a working solution of a JCo Server
    in the BEA Application Server?
    Thanks,
        Joachim

    Joachim,
    As you wrote, it may not be a good idea to use JCO.Server's inside a J2EE container; i suggest you to build an 'adapter' for this purpose.
    An adapter is a program that can listen for any type of event and, once the event has been identified (type and specific data), the adapter will handle it accordingly.
    In this case, you can create a program that starts a JCO.Server (as in Example5) and use JMS to send messages (built from the info gathered from the JCO.Function call) to a Message Driven Bean in the J2EE container.
    Hope this helps.

    otherwise,how can i use the project code instead of project xml file?i mean, in "session.xml", i can use the "<project-xml>" tag to refer to the project xml file,then in my session bean,i get the server session by read the "session.xml" file.but if i use the project code,how can i refer it from the "session.xml"?the examples that come with the toplink installation only tell me how can i use the project xml file within the session bean,it don't give me any clue about using the project code in the sesion bean,who can give me a step-by-step instruction and code snippet?
    thank you very much?

    There is a slight performance gain during session load at startup but there is no difference at runtime. The choice of which to use is dependent upon you build process. Whether it is easier to submit a new version of the class into the comile build process vs an XML file. In most cases it is just a preference of the development team.
    When you use the project-class you'll need to generate the source code and compile it into your system. Typically it is packaged with the persistent classes. You may need to configure your environment so that the class-loaders have access to these classes (same for the XML case).
    When using the project-class you simply replace the project-xml entry like this:
    <project-class>oracle.toplink.demos.employee.relational.EmployeeProject</project-class>
    The DTD for the session.xml file is found at <TOPLINK_HOME>\core\sessions_4_5.dtd. It is also in the documentation at:
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/90200doc_otn/toplink.903/b10064/a-sessio.htm#634246

  • Where the deployed application is visible in Visula Administrator

    I have deployed ejb in Netweaver using the deploy tool.
    For the methods of the bean I have mapped the roles. The mapping of the methods with the roles as well as mapping of the roles with the server roles/ groups is being provided in the ejb-j2ee-engine.xml file. I could see the deployed application in the deploy tool along with the security roles mapped with the bean methods. Where I could see this deployed bean in the Visual Administrator. Also the mapping of the security roles with the server roles provided in the ejb-j2ee-engine.xml file using the <security-role-map> tag.

    Hi,
    can you be a bit more specific about what you need to do to your bean using the Visual Administrator (VA).
    The way your questions goes right now I can give you just some general answers like:
    If you want to just see the deployed application and manage it's status, you can have a look at the Deploy Server in the VA: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/25/1d353e39011a38e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    If you want to monitor the bean and change some (very limited number) of its settings, you can go to the EJB Container service: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/7d/edfb2e2fa7774ea7d7e585ad943fda/frameset.htm
    Hope that helps!

  • "Document name is invalid.  The index.xml file is missing

    I have OSX Yosemite 10.10 and am having a problem just today in Numbers.  A file that I have saved to my desktop and opened daily to input data since the first of November won't open.  It gives me a message that the file is invalid, the "index.xml file is missing"   Running Numbers '09 version 2.3   Have been run ing Yosemite 10.10 for quite some time.  How can I open/retrieve the file?

    An original Numbers ’09 v2.3 document will save as a compressed zip archive that has its extension renamed .numbers. It contains an index.xml file. If you double-click this Numbers ’09 document, it will open in Numbers ’09 v2.3. This is contrary to how Pages v5.5.1 handles Pages ’09 documents.
    You have to explicitly open a Numbers ’09 v2.3 document in Numbers v3.5. When you make a change, Numbers v3.5 will drop a sheet dialog that is very clear in its portent:
    Would you like to upgrade this Numbers '09 spreadsheet?
    Edit a Copy
    Cancel
    Upgrade
    When you choose either the Edit a Copy, or Upgrade — and save your changes, the resulting document is now in the new document architecture whose structure no longer uses the index.xml file. Double-clicking this new document format will now default to Numbers v3.5 on open, not Numbers '09 v2.3. You have to explicitly choose Open with Numbers (2.3) from the contextual menu to get the pop-op below because Pages v5.5.1, Numbers v3.5, and Keynote 6.5 documents are not backwards compatible.

  • PI needs to obtain a zip file via FTP using the File adapter

    I have a scenario where PI needs to obtain a zip file via FTP using the File adapter, this zip file contains a number of txt files that I need to process, and the content of one of them send it to an ECC, now I'm using the PayloadZipBean Module in the Sender FIle Adapter, and I have two things if I use the Message Protocol as File, I get a Payload for each txt file in the zip file, but this payload has no structure, and if I use the File Content Conversion I get an XML strcuture with only one field and a strange string in it, and somewhere in this string the names of the files I assume all the content of the zip file, can anyone help on how could I achieve what I need that is to pull the zip file via SAP PI, then unzip it, and with the content of one of the txt files send it to an ECC via ABAP Proxy, thanks in advance for your answers.
    Regards,
    Raul Alvarado

    Hello Raul,
    you can do it in futher way ...
    pickup zip file and simply extract and dump it in another temp folder (can use scripts on OS level).
    @ then Use another sender communication channel to pickup all these text file .
    for further clarification you can use these links also. -
    Process txt files in zip file
