Using Webservices to get data

HI,
I have managed to get a report to collect data from a webservice. :)
I need to be able to define the webservice url before running the report and also to alter the input parameters for the webservice at the time of execution.
I have searched through the provided documentation but have not yet found any way to define the above at the time of execution. :(
I will be calling the report through rwservlet (url). I am running the report from a 9iAS (v9202) instance with BI and Forms (patched to 9202).
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated
MAny Thanks
Ruchit Khimasia

are you using PL/SQL or the Web Service data source ? if you are using the Web Serivce data source, you will have to take the open source example and extend it to implement the changes you are looking for.
if you are using PL/SQL and a Web Services stub with the Java Importer, you can do all that using user parameters that you use to pass in the values (keep in mind though that on the URL to the reports servlet, the value for the paramter holding the URL to the web service needs to be in "..", otherwise the URL is invalid because of all the : and // in the URL.

    hi there
    anyone knows about using java to get data from MS Access database? thank you

    there is a list of jdbc drivers at:
    http://industry.java.sun.com/products/jdbc/drivers
    they have several ms access drivers listed.
    also, you can use a jdbc-odbc bridge which allows you to use jdbc to connect to any odbc data source:

  • Using WebServices to get an exported document

    Hello,
    Discoverer : 11.1.1.2.0
    I'm facing a request to be able to programmatically create a pdf from an existing query.
    By now, user are doing :
    Viewer > Printable Page > PDF > File
    I saw that there is a web service interface (wsi) and I tried to connect but I don't understand everything :
    - I got the login, so the session key (using the "weblogic" credentials...)
    - User are not using predefined connections but direct connection : how can the wsi reproduce this ?
    The sample given in the documentation ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/bi.1111/e10412/toc.htm ) uses the connection list, but mine is empty.

    Any input ?

  • Using EWS to work with mail items from a range derived from Get-Date

    I am attempting to write a powershell script that uses EWS to move items from the prior month and create a folder named after that month to hold those items.
    I am finding that the search filter only likes the format if you use .NET system.DateTime and not Get-Date.
    However it's strange, for testing I configured my variable to be the exact same format as the .NET format but it rejects it.

    but if i set $startdate using this: $startdate = (Get-Date).AddMonths(-1).ToString("dddd, MMMM 01, 12:00:00 AM")

    The Managed API is expecting you to pass a Typed Value not a String so if you just use
    $startdatetime= [System.DateTime]::Parse("$startdate $searchyear 12:00:00 AM")
    That should work okay, the Managed API itself will then covert it to and from UTC and then submit the query eg
    <m:Restriction>
    <t:IsLessThan>
    <t:FieldURI FieldURI="item:DateTimeReceived" />
    <t:FieldURIOrConstant>
    <t:Constant Value="2014-02-24T03:26:34.889Z" />
    </t:FieldURIOrConstant>
    </t:IsLessThan>
    </m:Restriction>
    Which you can see yourself if you enable tracing eg
    $service.TraceEnabled = $true

  • How to get data from an existing Excel file using report generation toolkit

    I'm trying to use the Excel Get Data vi from the report generation toolkit, but i can't figure out how to turn a browsable path into the right type for the VI.  I've tried using the New Report.vi, but that doesn't work unless you use a template.  It won't open an existing excel file and make it an open report to pull data from.
    Essentially, i have a bunch of excel files that have data in them and i want to use a VI to analyze the data.  So, i'm trying to pull in all the data directly from the excel file so i don't have to reproscess them all into text so i can use the more standard spreadsheet VIs.  But to even convert the excel file programtically in labview won't i still need to be able to open the excel file and get the data?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I C.
    Got it,
    the reason why I can view it using my Excel file because its in .CSV.
    I open Microsoft Excel to open .CSV file.
    But you can also open .csv file with notepad.
    So, you cannot open .xls with Read Spreadsheet File
    I learn something everyday

  • Using Get Data From Aggregation event class in SQL Profiler - SSAS 2012

    Hi,
    I'd like to understand better the use of the Get data from aggregation event class in SQL Profiler to monitor a MDX query and which info provide. Fe, does it return the MDX query? Is it possible to use this event class in order to monitor MDX query vs a
    Tabular model?
    In the TechNet documentation, this event class is handled briefly.
    Thanks

    Hi pscorca,
    This event is raised when the storage engine reads data from an aggregation, it may have a negative impact on performance when turned on. If you need to monitor SSAS instance status, we can also use dynamic management view:

    Hi there,
    I am a BI Newbi and trying to understand technique of getting data to PSA (staging area) through an external system. I would prefer a high level of integration  not via DB-Connect, Flat-File, ...
    Can I use bapis to get data to PSA?
    How and where do I trigger those BAPIS?
    Can I PUSH data from external application into PSA?
    Do I need the scheduler?
    I read several docus about third party tools e.g. BEA Adapter but do have some general problems understanding the overall process.
    Can anyone clearify?
    Regards,

    You can use Time Machine to back up your files and then use the Migration assistant to bring back your files from the Time Machine backup. Other applications such as Carbon Copy Cloner may also do the job for you.

  • How to get data from CRM systems?

    Hi...
              How to use adapters to get data from external systems such as  CRM systems.

    It is totally depends what kind of message is or are coming out from CRM Systems.
    If it is sending IDoc then use Idoc adapter.
    If it is BSP and sending HTTP Post then use HTTP adapter.
    If you are using proxy then use XI adapter.

  • Get data from Sharepoint site in different farm using webservice, and current site using claims mode authentication.

    Hi ,
    I have a site that runs on   Claims Mode (  NTLM) . That site has a web part that needs to show the data from any  sharepoint farm, SharePoitn  2010 , or 2007 or 2003.
    I am getting 401 unauthorized when I   try to get data from webservice running in sharePoint context.
    But when I run the same code in  Windows Console application  then it is giving no error.
    What I doubt is that this issue is due to the reason that I have  set
    claims mode authentication.
    Because same code is running  in different farm in a site that is configured  using windows authentication.

    So generally speaking, you're talking about a VERY long running topic of authentication methods... and generally speaking, in the world of Windows, the only long running authentication options have been:
    - NTLM (limited to one hop)
    - Kerberos (unlimited hops)
    - Application level authentication (ex: SQL auth, also, no hops)
    Recently, Microsoft has been investing in Claims Based Auth... and I fully expect claims to start working their way into other systems (previously starting to work into Windows via the CardSpace technology, but also in other ways such as Win8's ability to
    log in with a LiveID)... but building a new authentication method into ALL applications is a VERY long process, and the complexity of claims adds a LOT of consideration (claims from the same AD can look VERY different depending on the STS, so lots of questions
    around things like bridging claims).
    So as far your SP auth needs...
    IF both applications are CLAIMS AWARE, then you MAY be able to use claims (which support unlimited hops)... but that's just not very likely yet (and will probably take another 5-10 years to be available across the entire enterprise)... otherwise, KERBEROS
    Outside of the Microsoft world... KERBEROS is open spec, so is supported by other systems (such as authenticating to linux)... claims based auth is also open spec, but again, still new... there are a few other options (LDAP, etc), but none that are native
    to Windows (so you rely on things like third party auth modules for Windows, which Novell has done for DECADES with NDS and eDir)
    And again, SharePoint can convert claims to Kerberos using the C2WTS... which MS uses internally for things Excel Services connecting to a backend SQL server... but it DOES require the Kerb and C2WTS configuration.
    if you're having issues using Kerb auth... then it sounds like Kerb isn't configured correctly... and Kerb is a PAIN to configure (whitepaper for SP Kerb is ~100 pages long)... IIS (and SharePoint) also has the added benefit of failing over to NTLM if Kerb
    fails (and you shouldn't disable this behavior, since it'll break other settings elsewhere)

  • How to receive and upload data into Sharepoint using webservice in BizTalk (without using sharepoint adapter).

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to receive files from sharepoint and upload files to share point.
    So is there anyway we can achive this using webservices in BizTalk (without using sharepoint adapter)
    Thanks in advace

    I do not have a sample flow... but if you refer to the samples where these web services are used then you'd be able to translate those code samples into BizTalk flows.. For e.g.:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ms429658(v=office.14).aspx refers to returning list items. When you add generated items to your BizTalk for SharePoint Web Services, you'd get the schemas (xmlDocs in the sample) which you'd instantiate and
    call.
    When dealing with lists, you will need the GUID of the list so you need to do a GetLists call first and then get the GUID for your specific list from that. You will also encounter CAML which is what is used to query and get List Data.
    Have fun.
    Regards.

  • BI & Oracle XI data exchanges using WEBServices (into both sides)

    Hello,
    Would you be so kind and give me suggestions.
    We have:
    <b>BI 7 server – Oracle Exchange Infrastructure – Oracle DB server</b>
    Our client wants to implement this data exchange solution:
    <u>Scenario A: i have load data to BI from Oracle DB</u>
    My steps are: from <i>BI</i> i have to call WEBService from <i>Oracle Exchange Infrastructure</i> when <i>Oracle Exchange Infrastructure</i> calls WEBService from <i>Oracle DB</i> and <i>Oracle DB</i> returns data set to <i>BI</i> via <i>Oracle Exchange Infrastructure.</i>
    How to schedule job for calling  WEBServices from <i>Oracle Exchange Infrastructure</i>? What have i configure in <i>BI</i>?
    <u>Scenario B: Application based on Oracle DB wants to get data from BI</u>
    Steps are: <i>Oracle DB</i> calls WEBService from <i>Oracle Exchange Infrastructure</i> when <i>Oracle Exchange Infrastructure</i> calls WEBService from <i>BI</i> and <i>BI</i> sends data to <i>Oracle DB</i> via <i>Oracle Exchange Infrastructure</i>.
    <i>BI</i> offers <i>Open Hub Service</i> for data distribution from <i>BI</i>, but I didn’t find description how to  distribute data using WEBServices.
    Is is possible to implement Scenario A and Scenario B in BI with standard tools.
    Could you give me detailed answers(step-by-step what I have to do)?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Arunas Stonys

    Arunas,
    Quite an interesting landscape....
    Also what do you mean by standard tools ?
    Option A :
    You can use the XML datasource for the same and once the XML data source is called , the data enters the Delta Queue in the BI server and from there you can use the normal infopackage / real time daemon to load data into your cubes / DSO. The XML datasource works on SOAP and this has to be supported by the Oracle XI.
    Option B:
    Slightly more trickier since you are hitting the BI server directly....
    I am not sure if an infospoke can be a web service but some of the ways this could be done is :
    a. Have an Func Module which acts as a web service and have that FM return the data
    b. Have SAP XI inbetween to do the same
    Also on the landscape- depending on the nature of data loads / data requests - if BI-Oracle is more - you can look at having SAP XI there instead....
    Arun
    Hope it helps....
    P.S I would also suggest that you post the same in the Enterprise SOA forums  / enterprise web services and people like Karthik Iyengar , Durairaj etc can respond to the same in a much better way that what I am able to give you right now...

  • Help needed with variable - trying to get data from Oracle using linked svr

    Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum - I just didn't know where to post it.
    I'm trying to write a simple stored procedure to get data from an oracle database via a linked server in SQL Enterprise manager. I have no idea how to pass a variable to oracle.
    Here's how I would get the variable in SQL:
    declare @maxkey INTEGER
    select @maxkey= MAX(keyfield) from [server].Data_Warehouse.dbo.mytable
    select * from [server].Data_Warehouse.dbo.mydetailtable where keyfield=@maxkey
    the select statement I need to do in oracle would use that variable like this:
    select * from OPENQUERY(OracleLinkedServer,'select
    * from ORACLEDB.TABLE where keyfield > @maxkey')
    and I get this message: OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "OracleLinkedServer" returned message "ORA-00936: missing expression".
    I realize that I can't pass the @maxkey variable to oracle - so how do I accomplish this?

    Please refer the example in this link which deals with Oracle date format.
    You can finnd a command DECODE which is used for date formats. If you have a look at whole theory then you will get an idea.
