    Basic troubleshooting steps in the following order.
    1. Reset. Press and hold both Power and Home Buttons together till Apple Logo appears.

  • How do you share thousands of pictures with text and captions outside of PSE?  (PSE 4)

    One of my dad’s retirement passions is family genealogy and old family pictures.  Several years ago I gave my family PSE 4.0 for Christmas so that we could each have backup copies of our dad’s pictures.  Usually once per year, I made backup copies of everything and emailed the DVDs to my brothers and sisters.  Everyone knows the basic PSE 4 functions and share our dad's enjoyment with the old family photos.
    My problem is that my dad is running out of pictures to scan.  He wants to “share” or “show” his photos with others so that he can “borrow” their photo albums in order to scan their photos.  He plans to attend a hometown high school reunion later this fall.  He hopes to "collect" photo albums from cousins and classmates.  I have been struggling with this for several days without any good ideas.
    The scanned pictures lack any text (added as a layer?) or captions.  Creating a slideshow (on my dad’s computer is slow).  Also, a slideshow doesn’t let others select individual pictures to save from the slide show
    He has old pictures pre-PSE 4 that allowed him to add captions directly to the picture when it was scanned.  I never liked this approach as it "destroyed" the actual picture but these old pictures are more easily shared as individual pictures.
    How do you share thousands of pictures with text and captions outside of PSE?  Can you save or export a composite picture with all the layers?
    Thanks in advance for your help and replies.

    I think it is one of the printer option screens that gives me the choice of tabbed 4x6. All of the choices specifiy HP or Other so I am pretty sure it is printer software that offers me this choice.
    Make sure your image has a 4x6 aspect ratio. I have been quite happy with the tabbed 4x6. Just need to remember to load the paper with the tab last.
    So, in elements you set to 4x6, in printer options you should be able to choose 4x6 tabbed paper.

  • Help with JLabels and JTextFields

    I'm experimenting with JLabels and JTextFields in a basic JFrame. What I am trying to accomplish (without success) is to align a JLabel above and centered on a JTextField. The tutorials are confusing me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. a Sample of code is ...
    JLabel  myTextLabel = new JLabel("Who's text Field?");
    JTextField myTextField = new JTextField("My Text Field");...after reading the tutorial I thought that I needed to assign L&F variables to the JLabel ... i.e.
    JLabel myTextLabel = new JLabel("Who's text field?:", JLabel.CENTER, JLabel.TOP); but this results in an error when compiling. (cannot find symbol), so I thought I need to assign the JLabel to the JTextField. i.e.
    myTextLabel.setLabelFor(myTextField);Then I get "identifier" expected. So now being completely confused I am here asking "How do I?" :)
    Thanks in advance!

    Most likely, you need to think a little more about using a layout manager to hlp you along the way. If memory serves, the default layout manager for a JPanel is FlowLayout and that will simply place the components you add to the panel one after another and allow each to adopt it's preferred size.
    One way to ensure that the two compoenets were sized equally, would be to use the GridLayout layout manager and create either one row with two columns, or two rows with one column on each. Then add the compoennets to each of the 'cells' so to speak and that should ensure that they are both the same size.
    As to making the text centered in each, both the JLabel and JtextField classes have amethod called setHorizontalAlignment(); it can be used to aligh the text as you require.
    Simply create an instance of the class;
    JLabel aLabel = new JLabel("Some Text");
    // Then set the alignment
    aLabel.setHorizontalAlignment(SwingConstants.CENTER);Or, do the whole operation i one step
    JLabel aLabel = new JLabel("Sone Text", SwingConstants.CENTER);and then add the componenet to the panel once you have set the layout manager.
    Remember that the label.textfield will have to be wide enought to make it obvious that the text is centered!

    I did a recovery of my iphone4.   After extracting,  recovery and verifying  completing,  my iphone restarted.    But still i can only see the picture with iTunes and USB port in the iphone 4.   Only the emergency call is allowed.
    After recovery and re-start of my iphone4  the itunes doesn't detect my phone.       What should i do now

    DFU Mode and restore again, if it doesn't work, well then...I suggest you try using a custom firmware maker (sn0wbreeze), NOT for the jailbreak, just to try and fix your phone.

    Lightning is a problem for you because it hooks into Thunderbird at a low level and you need a version compiled for the platform Thunderbird is running on. So you can't do the preferred solution, which is to put your whole profile in a shared folder and have both instances of Thunderbird reference the same profile. (Ditto for Enigmail). Lightning may become an integral part of Thunderbird in an upcoming release, at which point this limitation due to Lightning should disappear.
    And if you can't use a shared profile, you can't set your Lightning, or your Address Book, to share a common set of files. Put another way, the linkage from Thunderbird to its address book files and calendar data is hard-coded, and not exposed where we can adjust it. :-(
    The halfway house is to place your mail stores in a shared place, and use the Local Directory setting in each account's settings to connect to it. They don't need to be in the profile; what's more important in your case is that they are in a folder accessible to both operating systems.
    Look in your profile; everything under Mail and ImapMail needs to be moved out to a shared folder. Note the entries in Thunderbird under Local Directory before you do this, and reconstruct those pathnames in Thunderbird, but adjusted to suit their new locations.
    (You can see here that you need to make many adjustments, one per account, in each instance of Thunderbird, so it's a high-maintenance solution and this is why we don't recommend it when the alternative, moving the whole profile, is possible.)
    I share address books and calendars between Thunderbirds on various computers (and my phone and tablet) by syncing to something in the cloud; Google Contacts and Google Calendar are my choices, using gContactSync and CalDav.
    Having made the break myself some years ago, I'd recommend you break away from Windows. ;-)

  • How to save pictures with the config file "Write Key.vi"

    hi all,
    On my front panel I've few controls pictures containing photos (JPG type) . The user can select the photo he wants using the classic file dialog box.
    Usally I use the config files VI's to save the control values from one run to another one. In the config files VIs, I use the polymorphic "write Key.vi" wich accept only booean, I32, U32, path, and string dada type, but no picture !
    I've tried the "flatten to string" fonction (picture --> flatten to string --> writekey.vi) , no broken wire but the conversion is very very too long and to heavy (20Mo a key!).
    another way, would be to write in a xml file, I've also tried but I've always get the 1104 error: No end tag was found for an XML start/end tag pair.
    can someone help me.
    what is the best way for  retrieving controls pictures with photos

    Hi GerdW
    Many thanks for your quick answer. Always happy to get advises from fellow programmers.
    You suggest to use the "path" input of the "write key.vi" (configuration file utilities) to retrieve photos that a user would have selected in a previous run. Could be a good solution in a number of applications but what I would like to do is like in a excel or word file. Once a photo has been embeded in one xls file for ex., I find it back each time i open this xls file, even if the original photo's file has been deleted or if my application runs on another computer.
    xml file looks interesting for that purpose (i mean used as config file). I can easily store in a xml file a labview picture (like a colored rectangle e.g.) but when i try with a photo (wich is a also a picture) labview returns always the error 1104.
    How to fixe this error, or maybe  there is another way to store photos in a config file without passing through xml,
    kind regards.

  • How to populate DB column with filename from file browse item?

    Hi,
    Using APEX 3.1.2, I'm trying to easily allow maintenance of a filename stored in a DB column (VARCHAR2(1000)). Using the column as a file browse item seemed to be the way to go, but of course I don't want the resulting file to be uploaded and it appears as though an existing filename is not shown in a form when the row is retrieved.
    After much searching, I found Checking filename length in File Browse item before uploading , but I'm not able to connect the dots. I was thinking that I could create a hidden file browse item and use a button to call Javascript function to activate it, then save the resulting filename to my DB column item and wipe out the hidden item before it was uploaded. But the hidden item doesn't appear, so I'm not able to reference it's form input name.
    Hopefully this mess makes sense. Anyone?
    Thanks!

    Hi John,
    From what I can tell, the path of a local file browsed from a file browse item cannot be retrieved because of security concerns. Although, it seems that while Firefox 3 only returns the filename sans directory, IE6 returns the full path:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en" dir="ltr">
    <head><title>Form Test</title>
    </head><body>
    <script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript">
    function GetDirectory()
    strFile = document.FileForm.filename.value;
    intPos = strFile.lastIndexOf("\\");
    strDirectory = strFile.substring(0, intPos);
    alert(strDirectory);
    document.FileForm.Directory.value = strDirectory;
    </script>
    <form id="FileForm" name="FileForm">
    <input type="file" id="filename" name="filename" value="" onChange="GetDirectory(this.value)">
    <input type="hidden" id="Directory" name="Directory" value="">
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    This Win-specific code displays the path via IE6, but not in Firefox 3. Then again, I can't seem to preview posts here using FF3, either...

  • Problems with encoding and files

    Hi friends pls some help my problems is the following
    I have a ftp server running on linux and in my program I download files from the ftp server using class specified below.When I download the file content not all content is coming ok. For example I have a string with
    Ral1234%#=?[a_@ and when I read content using my methods this part is retirved ok Ra and this one is retrived wrong
    whith characteres very stranges.
    I suppose that the problem is with the encoding, then all day I tried some settings in the class new InputStreamReader.First the encoding UTF-8 because I have created the file using this encoding. Something like this:
    in = new InputStreamReader(new GZIPInputStream(localFtp.get(serverFile)),"UTF-8");
    but does not work
    After I realized that I use the statement localFtp.ascii();
    declaring that the content will be downloaded in ascii encoding so
    I made this change :
    in = new InputStreamReader(new GZIPInputStream(localFtp.get(serverFile)),"US-ASCII");
    but still does not work

  • Having probelm with JLabel and setText

    I posted a message in Java Programming but I think it will be more appropriate here. I am trying to create a calculator so I want my JLabel(output) to display the number of the button that is clicked on. I used output.setText("7") but I get an error when compiling saying <identifier> expected. Any advice would be great. Also, is there a getText method in JLabel? I need to concatenate the current contents of JLabel and the value of the button pushed. For example:
    output.setText( output.getText() + "7" );
    Anyways, here is my code. I tried to make it indent so it is easier to read but it doesn't show up once I post it.
    Thanks for you help.

  • Using clone() with JLabel and JButtons

    I need to find a way of making a duplicate copy of objects that extend JLabel and JButton. Do I need to implement the clone() methord manually, or is there a simpler way of doing this?

    Use a BorderLayout as the main layout. Add the two tables to the WEST and EAST.
    Create another panel using a different layout, maybe a vertical BoxLayout. Add the two buttons and then add this panel to the CENTER of the main panel.
    The secret is to nest different panels with different layout managers to achieve your desired layout.

  • Any way to start up with applications and files open when shutdown?

    I usually just put my Power Mac Tiger 10.4.11 to sleep when I'm finished. But sometimes if an electrical storm is pending I like to shutdown but sometimes I have so many applications and files open I hate to. Is there anyway, maybe even with third-party software, that I can completely shutdown without closing anything and start up later and have all apps and files reopen??

    I don't know if this works in 10.4.11...

    But I did read about it working on other than Laptops...
    OS X only has only one "sleep" option. You cannot change its name, but to change its behaviour, I use SmartSleep on a Mac mini (though in the MacBook-like "sleep & hibernate" mode). It works for a mini, though the website only refers to MacBooks.

  • Application server directory and file browser

    Is there existing in SAP a program that can display directories and files that enable me to delete, move, upload, overwrite etc files on a unix server? So it will have similar functionality as e.g. MS Windows Explorer, but an ABAP program. If you have for instance a custom created version, I'd appreciate if you'd share. Thank you and best regards, Adrian

    Hi you can make use of fm's
    F4_DXFILENAME_TOPRECURSION - display directories and files
    ARCHIVFILE_SERVER_TO_SERVER - move files, copy files etc.
    EPS_DELETE_FILE - delete file
    EPS_OPEN_INPUT_FILE - open file for input
    EPS_OPEN_OUTPUT_FILE - open file for output
    If you give the same name of a file which is already residing in the server then it gets overwritten.
    Hope you can build a program using this fm's.

  • Sessions with internetexplorer and opera browser  are different

    im new to java technology, i have a doubt regarding sessions...
    i have used InternetExplorer and logged in using two browsers with two different user names . when i logged out of yahoo in one browser the second browsers session is also expired......
    but with opera browser it is working fine ....
    does sessions also depends up on browser implementation..
    pls clear my doubt...

    Opera, Firefox and Netscape seem to use a different approach to multiple browser windows, where they share memory spaces. I'm not sure why this is, but all three do it.
    IE will only share a session between windows spawned in the same thread (IE the File --> New --> Window or clicking on a link that uses JavaScript to open a new window, or right clicking and selecting Open in New Window). But, if an IE browser is open, then you launch a whole new instance of IE (clicking the Icon on the Desktop again), those sessions will not be shared.
