Value difference in parameter

Os : Red hat
While executing, i got the difference between show parameter nls_length_semantics and database_properties.
SQL> show parameter nls_length_semantics
NAME
TYPE VALUE
nls_length_semantics
string CHAR
select PROPERTY_NAME,PROPERTY_VALUE from database_properties where PROPERTY_NAME like 'NLS_LENGTH%';
PROPERTY_NAME PROPERTY_VALUE

Passing value to internal parameter of subreport

I have a report which contains a subreport. That subreport has 2 regular parameters and 1 internal parameter (which has default value).
From what I've read ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337490(v=sql.90).aspx ) I understand that there's no need to pass a value from the parent report to the subreport
for internal parameters.
All runs fine in VS (2005) and also fine after deploying to SSRS 2005. But when I deploy to SSRS 2008R2, I get "error subreport could not be shown" for that subreport.
If I do pass that internal report (it DOES show in the chooslist from the parent report) then I get error "error subreport could not be shown" both in VS and in the reporting site. So I can't find any way to display it in SSRS 2008.
Your advice appreciated.

The report doesn't know whether it is a report or subreport. In either case, it takes the input and generates an output using the same settings and formulae. If you get a different output when it is run as a subreport, it is because the input is different.
So I suggest that you display each parameter value of your subreport (or at least those that are passed in by your main report) in a set of text boxes added to the top of the report. Run the report by itself in SSRS 2008 and record the values
that the report is consuming. Now in the main report, do the same. Display the value of each parameter that you are passing to the subreport in a text box. Look for differences. Remember to display multivalue parameter values in a text box, you will need
to convert them to a string using Join: =Join(Parameters!Multi.Value,",").

Raising event when value for a parameter in alert monitor changes

Hi All,
We are using Redwood Cronacle version 7 and have connected it to SAP solution Manager System to get the central monitoring data. Now we want to raise a particular event whenever value for a specific parameter in alert monitor gets changed.
I had a look of already present functions in JCS_MON package, but was not able to find any pre-existing function.
Any pointers on how to achieve this...

Thanks for your reply. We want the event to be raised on one of the parameters which is coming from SAP solution Manager. This event is required to be raised every time the value of that parameter gets changed from its current value. So it is not possible to define some severity where value can be defined.
One way can be to store the previous value in one custom table in repository and keep on checking with the present value. Once the difference is found then raise the even & replace the current value with the new value. But just want to know if there is some better solution for this.

Assigning a value to a parameter.

Hi all,
I am using CR XI, developping a report built upon a query in BW (using SAP Kit). The query in BW has a parameter PARAM1 of type string that comes automatically into my report but the type or the parameter is greyed. I can't change it.
In reality, I am expecting a date to be entered. It would be more user friendly to offer the user the calendar interface to select a value rather than the textbox for a string.
I can create a second parameter PARAM2 of type Date in CR, transform the input value to string but I do not know how to assign the result to PARAM1.
I have tried an assignment in a formula using beforereadingreports but no luck.
Does anybody know how to do this or if this is even possible ?

Thanks Graham - sorry it took me so long.
That is an interesting suggestion that I did not think of. I tried but for some reason the parameter for the report against BW does not show up in the link part of the subreport definition. I created a "fake" main report with a date type parameter, a formula to translate it to a string but no way to "assign" its value to the parameter in the original report.
Queries against SAP seem to have "specificities"...
In other words, i am still stuck !

Name = SDE_ORA_Product_Category_Temporary
Open Status Description, look for string -lpf, the file after it is the actual parameter file DAC send to INFA server. E.g
-lpf D:\DACTOPUS\Informatica\parameters\SDE_ORAR12_Adaptor.SDE_ORA_Product_Category_Temporary.txt
Open the parameter file, most likely the [session_name] does not match with SDE_ORA_Product_Category_Derive_Full or some parameters are missing.

Hello everyone
I'm using Visual Basic 6.0 and Crystal Report 9.0
I built a report using Crystal Report and named it Player_Statement.rpt. I then included it to my VB project and named it Player_Statement.Dsr
In this report I have a Parameter Field called P_Player_ID which I'm using in Record Selection Formula.
I'm using the following code to pass a value to the parameter:
Dim Report As CRAXDRT.ReportSet Report = New Player_StatementReport.ParameterFields.GetItemByName("P_Player_ID").AddCurrentValue CLng(cmbPlayerNB.BoundText)
When I execute the application I get the error message "The value or range you are adding has already existed" at the last line of code (Where I'm assigning the parameter a value)
Could anybody help me please

Passing multiple values to a parameter in report

Can anyone help me how to pass multiple parameters to a parameter in my report.
As user is able to select multiple values from list of values , can I pass the selected values to calling function.
Suppose if User selects Value1,Value2,Value3 from list of values of a parameter P_Org,
I need to pass all these values to parameter P_Org in my Before Trigger Function in Discoverer reproting tool.

I have a Before trigger Function to which the parameters will be passed.
Suppose if User selects multiple values for a parameter then how to pass these multiple Values to that parameter?
eg:In first Workbook Before Trigger is fired and the paramters for the trigger are
'par1','par2','par3' etc.
If User selects multiple values for a parameter 'par1' from the list of values displayed then how to pass all these values to 'par1' in Function?
After firing the trigger rows are inserted in a temp_table .My second Workbook will
fetch the rows inserted in this Temp Table.

How can I display the correct enum ring value from a parameter file?

A user will make selections based on the menu ring (there are several of these) and then the values are saved for later use as a parameter (text) file. I have several menu rings which I write out to a parameter (text) file.
How can I take these text values back into the appropriate location in the menu ring. For example, if I have menuring_value at index 0, menuring_value at index 1, etc. how do I make sure that, when the par (text) file is loaded, the saved values are the ones displayed without erasing the displayed menu ring value and inputting the saved one (from the parameter file). I would like the text value to search the appropriate menu ring, make a match and then display that menu ring value when the parameter file is loaded.

If I understand your question, attached VI should have solved your doubt
In this example, Configuration File VIs are used to save & retrieve MenuRings' statuses.
As this VI is improvised, please further modify it to suit your needs.

How to get the value of a parameter/field in a ADF Read-Only Form

Hi,
My requirement is as follows. Could anyone shed some light on this issue.
I am showing the records from db table using ADF Read-Only Form ( which uses ViewObject created for the table). Now I want to capture(get) the value of a field in this form and then have to invoke an action based on the value in this field. I mean to say the next page depends the value of a field in this form.
Please suggest how can I achieve this functionality?

That's indeed what Sivaji needs.
In the page definition you can add a value to the parameters of a certain method. Like RJundi mentioned, point to the attribute of the current row.
Example:
The value of the read only textfield will be something like this:
#{bindings.EmployeeName.inputValue}points to an attribute value in the pageDef of the page:
    <attributeValues id="EmployeeName" IterBinding="AllEmployees">
      <AttrNames>
        <Item Value="EmployeeName"/>
      </AttrNames>
    </attributeValues>The attribute value has also an iterator binding defined in the page def:
    <iterator id="AllEmployees" RangeSize="10"
              Binds="AllEmployees" DataControl="MyService"/>If you want to 'pass' the attribute of the current row to the service, you can create a methodaction (eg: public void printEmpName(String name)) in the page def or you can drop the method from the datacontrol on to the page. After dropping the method, a screen will appear asking to fill in a value for the parameter ('name' in this example). Fill in '#{bindings.EmployeeName.inputValue}' if you want to pass the EmployeeName of the current row.

I know there are some problems with 10.1.2.0.2, maybe if you haven't done yet you can try with 10.1.2.2, assuming this version should be working for multiple parameter values :
OracleAS Discoverer 10.1.2.2 is installed with the following patch :
Patch 4960210 PLACEHOLDER BUG FOR AS/DS 10G R2 PATCH SET 2 10.1.2.2
So, once installed you can try adding your parameter as param_<parameter_name>='sfophiee,angela'

SSRS Parameter value from another parameter

Hello Everybody,
I have a parameter that I need to get it value from another parameter.
The first parameter @rdt is a date - 11/01/2012
The second parameter @mm is the year and month = 2012
I tried putting in a select inside the query but it did not work
SET @mm = (SELECT cast(year(@rdt) as char(4)) + cast(month(@rdt) as varchar(2)))
Then I put it as a default value inside the parameter and it still did not work
=cast(year(Parameters!rdt.Value) as char(4)) + cast(month(Parameters!rdt.Value) as varchar(2))
Any ideas or suggestions ?

Visakh16 that it works fine , you will get the value as Integer type "YYYYMM", you can also use expression as below to get the string type of @mm (YYYYMM):
=Year(Parameters!rdt.Value)&Month(Parameters!rdt.Value)

Changing the value of a parameter that has been passed into an SSRS 2008 R2 report

I support 200+ reports that all use stored procedures and have many drill downs with built in URLs.
I want to do the below to avoid creating a brand new parameter that I will have to add to literally hundreds of places.
We have what I'll call Param1 that receives a value from the user. That Param1 is passed to the stored procedure(s) for the report and also embedded in any Action URLs for drill downs to other reports from that report. All works great.
Now I have a need to concatenate a string to whatever value they supplied which provides context for the environment in which they are running. The reason I want to do this instead of creating a new parameter is because I need this in all my reports
and as stated above I would have to make 100s of changes to make that happen. If I can figure out a way to concatenate a value to the existing Param1 value I can greatly reduce the number of changes.
I can't seem to be able to find a way to modify the value on an existing parameter that is passed into the report prior to report execution.
I get an error when I simply try to concatenate something to the parameter in its Default property.
I can't find a way to update a parameter value in the Report Code block. There don't appear to be any methods available on the Parameter Collection to set the value of a parameter.
Any ideas?

Create a new parameter. Mark it internal, set it's value by expression to:
=User!UserId+"MyNewValue"
and pass it to the proc?

Displaying different sheets at run time based on value of the parameter

Hi,
I've a query regarding displaying two different sheets at run time in Oracle discoverer based on the value of the parameter that i give.
I've a parameter Summary_flag.
If the value of the parameter is 'Y',then it should display a sheet,say for example it should display Sheet1.
If the value is 'N',then it should display another sheet, say for example it should display Sheet2.
Is there any way in which i can accomplish this?
I went through the Format and Tools menus but couldnt find anything regarding this aspect.
Can you help me out?

Having a Disco parameter dictate which worksheet is displayed is not an option that is available. There are a few workarounds, though:
1. Have a portlet (or some other web interface) accept your parameters, and then call the appropriate worksheet.
2. Have 2 worksheets, and have it devolve into a training issue (for a summary run this, for all the details run this).
3. Create calculations that will show or hide column data depending on the parameter selected - the columns will still be there, and you can fill them in with blanks, or a message like "N/A for Summary".
4. Create a report that will allow the users to drill between the summary and detail data - I'm not sure whether you could use a parameter to then say whether the report should open up summarized or expanded.

Select multiple items from a list box as values for a parameter of crystal report and Oracle procedure
