Variants on Price Definitions - Please Help

Variants is a new topic that I am not familiar with.
Can anyone send me some documentation regarding variants on Price Definitions ?
My email is [email protected]

Hi
Variant Configuration is a tool which helps to simplify th complex manufacturingof final products with more variants and variationof the input material.
The Manufacturer always has to offer new variants of its Products
Example :
Take any Bike lets say in our example i am taking Honda CBZ
we know that Honda has come up with 150 CC bike and 180 CC bike and 300 CC bike. With Different Colors. Here we are Engine CC and Color as variants
As CC of  engine grows so as Price of the Bike.
             Engine                                   Price
             150 CC                                 8000
             180 CC                               10000
             300 CC                               15000
              Color                                  Price
             Black                                   10000
             Green                                   20000
             Red                                      25000
Often by modifying the existing Product Variants. We create the New variants as we process the order. So that we can react quickly to the customer Requirements.
Step 1
Characterstics :
In our example we are taking Engine and Colour as Characterstics and 150cc,180cc,300cc, are variants of Engine
Red,Green,Black  are variants of Color
when we create sales order for Configurable Material,That Sales Order must describe Precisely how the product being ordered has to look. This Desciption always comes from the characterstics and corresponding Values
We Use Characterstics to define the features of the configurable MAterial so that the customer can choose from the different options of the characterstics (i.e  Characterstic Values nothing but Variants )
To creat Characterstics       CT04 - Create two charaters as Engine & Color
Action 1 : Specify the characterstic name and select the icon Create
               Select the tab Page Basic Data
Action 2 : Specify the Description
               The status must be released
              Data type : specify the data type as chracter - Format
              Number of Character give it as 10 :
In the "Value assignment" Section  of Basic data specify as single if it is Single level or Multiple if it Multiple Values. But for our example it is Simple.
Action 3 :
Select the Tab Page Values and Enter the required Value.
In our example it is 150 CC,180 CCand 300CC for engine character.
Red,Green,Black for color Character
Step 2 : Creating Class CL02 Creat one class as BIKE two bind two characters.
iN VARIANT CONFIGURATION a class is used to hold to Charactestics together that describes Material.
BY linking class to the material we allow the material to be configured in the sales Order by using thecharactestics of the Class
In variant configuration we can only use a class if that class has to a class type that supports variant Configuration. In the standard SAP system The class type for Variant configuration is 300
CL01 create
Action : 1
Specify the required class "Bike"
Enter the class type 300
and select the icon create
Action 2
On the basic data view
specify the Description
and status must be released
Action 3
Select the view Chracterstics and Enter the Created characterstics I.e Engine and color
Step 3 :
Creating the material master : MM01
the material type is KMAT (configurable Material)
when you are creating material for Variant configuration select the view Basic Data, classification,slaes oranisation 1 and 2 and Sales Geral/plant and MRP .
Note : While creating material in Basic Data tab at the lower section in CM relevance field Give the Value 1 Relavent for configuration Management
We have to assign the "Class" to the material in the View classification
The Item category Group is Either 0002 or 0004
Enter the reqwuired data and save the material
Step : 4
Configuration Profile :
we maintain the configuration profile for theConfigurable Objects to define the central settings for configurating the objects.
Creating Configuration Profile
CU41- Create
Select the Object Material
Enter the required material(Honda)
Create the profile by specifing the Class Type 300
Select the created profile and the icon "Profile Detail"
We can maintain all the central settings on the view Configuration intial screen and save it
Step : 5 Dependencies
The dependencies descibe the inter dependencies between the chracterstics and the characterstic Values. It also controls which componens are selected from the bills of Material.
Dependency Types:
1. Pre condtion :  which we should when our material BOM Material
for our eample we should use Procedures
Cu01 _ Create
Note Here we need to create the dependency and assign  it to the required chracterstics value or we can create directly go to the chracterstic value and write the dependency  there it self
Step : 6
Creating chractestic Price :
Create one Dummy chacraterstic at CT04
as Zprice
enter characterstic and create on Basic Data TAB
specify deascription and the status must be released
in the Tab of Addition Data specify the Table name SDCOM andthe VKOND
Format data given by ABAP dictionary

    Hi Karen, I'd try this...
    Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then, Move these files to the Desktop...

    Slide 1: VARIANT CONFIGURATION OVERVIEW Prepared by Arun prasad C R *Please place your comments
    Slide 2: Variant Configuration Introduction: • Variant Configuration is useful if you have a large number of combination of parts that go into a product. It means different permutations and combinations of the parts for same material. • If you maintain a unique material code for each possible combination of parts, you require a large number of material numbers. • Usually involves Make to Order Production Process Variant Configuration Examples: • A customer ordering a computer can choose different combinations of monitor, CPU, keyboard. • A customer ordering a car can choose different combinations of accessories and color. • In a business involving steel manufacturing, the customer may order steel involving different physical properties like tensile strength, diameter. Slide 29: Configuration Profile: Process Planned/production Order; explosion indicator None (others Single level or Multiple level) The material has a BOM that is not relevant to the sales order. Only the characteristics that describe the variant are required. The components are determined later during material requirements planning or production, so there is no need to explode the BOM in the sales order. Sales order (SET): See next slide also In the sales order, sales-relevant components are shown as sub-items of the header material. Requirements are transferred and pricing is calculated at component level, not at header material level. Order BOM You create a sales order. In order BoM, you can insert extra items or delete items manually. The Variant Configuration changed BOM is stored as a separate BOM for the sales order. Source: SAP CU42
    Slide 30: Configuration Profile: SET This processing form means that in the sales order you can only process sales-relevant BOM items. You can use the item category group like 0004 at configurable material level to define that requirements transfer and pricing are at component level. For example, a PC is made up of the components monitor, CPU, keyboard, and printer. These components are all salable materials that are manufactured separately. In the sales order, you want to see the individual components that make up the computer as order items, as well as the whole computer. In the sales order, these products are grouped together in a SET. For this reason, this type of processing is also referred to as set processing. Variant Configuration Source: SAP
    Slide 31: Configuration Profile: Dependencies Dependencies like Actions and Procedure can be assigned to Configuration Profile. Variant Configuration Source: SAP
    Slide 32: Configuration Profile: Variant Table • Tables are used to store combinations of values for different characteristics • A table HD_1300_COLOR_PR is created in CU62 transaction. It has 2 fields: HD_COLOR (key field) and SURCHARGE. The selected characteristic will be transferred to HD_COLOR and surcharge to SURCHARGE2. • The table contents are given below (see transaction CU60) Variant Configuration VK30: Has description entries for the surcharge column listed above VK12: Will pick up pricing value based on condition type VA00 Source: SAP
    Slide 33: Pricing Check definition of characteristic SURCHARGE2 – Additional data tab -> reference table and field Variant Configuration Simple method to achieve Variant Pricing is given below: • Create multiple value characteristic SURCHARGE2 referring to SDCOM-VKOND. • Put this characteristic in the class HD-000 which was used for the configurable material • Now go to CT04 and change the Characteristic HD_COLOR Go to values tab and select Red. Go to Extras-> Object Dependencies->Editor and then select Procedure. In front of 000010 Enter $self.surcharge2='HD-003_03'. Similarly Select Black to enter $self.surcharge2='HD-003_02‘. Same way 'HD-003_01’ for Silver • VK30: Has description entries for the surcharge column listed above • VK12: Will pick up pricing value based on condition type VA00 Source: SAP
    Slide 34: Pricing VK30: Maintain descriptions for variant price conditions (optional step; done while creating dependencies for surcharges; maintains consistencies of configuration) Variant Configuration VK11 / VK12: Maintain actual condition record for variant price surcharges Source: SAP
    Slide 35: Pricing Factors Pricing factors can only be maintained on characteristic level. The syntax of pricing factors is as follows: $SET_PRICING_FACTOR ($SELF, <characteristic>, <variant key>, <factor>) This expression contains the following information: • The characteristic that refers to structure SDCOM, in which variant conditions are defined. • The variant key used to infer the condition for a characteristic value. Variant Configuration • The factor by which the surcharge increases. Source: SAP
    Slide 36: Material Variant • For variants that are required frequently, create material variants, which can be produced without a sales order and kept in stock. • When a sales order is received, check whether the variant is in stock and deliver immediately. • The material master record of a material variant is linked to the configurable material and configured using the characteristics of the configurable material. Slide 44: Selection Condition A selection condition is allocated to each component and each operation. This selection condition determines which components and operations are selected for a variant. Variant Configuration Source: SAP
    Slide 45: Changing Master Data with Dependencies In variant configuration, you can use reference characteristics with dependencies to change field values of tables for bills of material (BOMs), task lists, and master recipes. Table names and fields are given below for reference. Table STPO field MENGE can be used to change component quantities of BoM. Table PLPOD field VGW01 can be used to change setup time of Operation. Variant Configuration Source: SAP
    Slide 46: Procedures Procedures can set default values for a characteristic (can be overwritten by the user) Variant Configuration Source: SAP
    Slide 47: Procedures • Set default values: $SET_DEFAULT ($SELF, <characteristic>, <term>) For example: ( $SET_DEFAULT ($SELF, COLOR_CHAR, 'BLUE'), $SET_DEFAULT ($SELF, GLOSS_CHAR, 'NONE') ) IF $root.PC_CASING_CHAR = 'TOWER' • Delete default values: $DEL_DEFAULT ($SELF, <characteristic>, <term>) Variant Configuration Produce a sum of the values for a characteristic in a multi-level configuration: $SUM_PARTS ($SELF, <characteristic>) It can be used to calculate the weight of components and transfer the same to structure VCSD_UPDATE, gross weight field BRGEW • Add the components of a BOM together: $COUNT_PARTS (<$SELF>) • Surcharge for variant conditions in Pricing: $SET_PRICING_FACTOR ($SELF, <characteristic>, <variant key>, <factor>) Source: SAP
    Slide 48: Constraints and Dependency Net The main purpose of a constraint is to monitor the consistency of a configuration. There are four sections in a constraint. 1. OBJECTS: Declaration of all classes and objects used. 2. CONDITION: Pre requisite for processing the constraint. 3. RESTRICTIONS: For interdependencies and consistency check; check and set values. 4. INFERENCES: Enter the characteristics for which characteristic values are to be inferred. Variant Configuration Constraints are grouped together in dependency nets. The dependency net can be allocated to a configuration profile. Example: The hard disk can only have the value ‘1620’ for a tower, or ‘850’ for a mini tower. OBJECTS: PC IS_A (300) PC RESTRICTIONS: PC.HARD_DISK = ‘1620’ if PC.CASING = ‘Tower’, PC.HARD_DISK = ‘850’ if PC.CASING = ‘Mini tower’. Source: SAP
    Slide 49: Actions Actions can be used to infer values for characteristics. Actions can also be used to change field values in BOM items or operations in routings. Procedures can set default values for a characteristic, which can be overwritten by the user. The user cannot overwrite values that are set by an action. For new developments, use Procedures rather than Actions (to become obsolete) Variant Configuration Source: SAP
    Slide 50: Object Variables used in Multi level configurations Variant Configuration Source: SAP
    Slide 51: Allowed Dependency Types • Preconditions are allowed for characteristics and characteristic values. • Selection conditions are allowed for characteristics, BOM items, operations, and production resources/tools. • Procedures & Actions are allowed for characteristics, characteristic values, BOM items, operations, and configuration profiles. • Constraints can only be linked to a configuration profile via dependency nets. Variant Configuration Source: SAP
    Slide 52: Processing Sequence for Dependencies • Each time you enter a value for a characteristic on the value assignment screen and confirm the value, the system processes all the dependencies. • The dependencies are processed in the following sequence: 1. All actions several times, until no more values can be inferred. 2. All procedures exactly once in the following sequence: a) Procedures for the configuration profile in the order you defined b) Procedures for characteristics Variant Configuration c) Procedures for characteristic values The procedures for each characteristic or value are processed in the order you defined. 3. Actions Values set by procedures can also trigger actions. For this reason, all actions are processed again. 4. Preconditions 5. Selection conditions for characteristics Constraints are processed in parallel with points 1–3, if all the objects in the OBJECTS section are present, and if all the conditions in the CONDITIONS section are fulfilled Source: SAP
    Slide 53: • Transfer to Production Planning (Demo)
    Slide 54: 2. Checking Requirements Using MRP (T Code :MD04) Step1 to create sales order has already been discussed earlier. 2. Stock Requirements List: • The sales order is displayed as a separate planning segment (sales order stock required on material availability date and sales order). Variant Configuration Source: SAP
    Slide 55: 3. Requirements Planning (T Code :MD50) The sales order will now be converted into a planned order. Planned Orders represent the first step toward an actual production schedule for the Shop Floor. Variant Configuration Source: SAP
    Slide 56: 4. Convert the Planned Order into a Production Order (MD04) • Planned Orders are a result of MRP run and serve to provide an initial Production Schedule. • Production Orders contain comprehensive information to support a shop floor schedule and provide a method to confirm operations performed. • Production orders can be created with reference to a Planned Order. In the Itunes Wishlist there is no price button that you can push to buy the items. So I cant buy my whole wishlist without doing it all seperatly and I dont know the total price of all the items. Please help!

    Both the button and the total cost appear to have been removed in the current version of iTunes - I don't have them either and other people have posted about it as well. You can try leaving feedback for Apple and maybe they'll be added back in a future update : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • Please help. can't get definition around a text. pulling out my hair :(

    hi. i was following a tutorial to give text a 3D effect.
    the tutorial is located here:
    http://www.illustratortechniques.com/3d-text-effect.html
    i am only two steps in and did exactly what was told but my text effect looks different than his. his text has definition so you can make out what it is whereas mine does not.
    the screenshot of the difference is here:
    http://www.macrochild.com/help.jpg
    (mine is on the left. the tutorial is on the right.)
    please help me i did this five times and i can't duplicate that image.

    Hello,
    In the texts 3D dialogue box you need to switch some sort of shading on, either plastic of difuse, or you could put a very small dark stroke around the outside of your text. It's probably the shading though, it's the surface drop down box at the very bottom (or if you have advanced on it's in the middle).

    I bought(own) and gifted(friend) an app which i was charged 2 different prices please help me with this!!!

    Apple does not sell an unlocked iPhone. Some cell carriers offer the option to purchase an unlocked phone at a significantly higher price. Your friend could go to Hong Kong and buy an unlocked phone from an authorized carrier but if he has any problems with the phone, he will need to take it back to the country where he purchased it.

    There are a few things you can try.
    1) try another outlet in another room (different circuit group) to see if the sound is still present.
    2) If you are using a power protection device between your PC and the outlet and it is old replace it with a new one.
    Even replacing the motherboard generally won't cure this issue as it isquite likely to be related to a problem in the (earthing) grounding and wiring in your home.
    please post your results her in our tread.

    Try this without the border images and it will work in all browsers with increased text size. That's assuming eBay supports embedded CSS styles (which I'm not convinced they do).  Inline styles are safer IMHO.

  • Please help with Contribute issue- Adobe or anyone!

    My issues are many- I don't know where to start. First, as a long-time Adobe customer, I can not believe how support has declined- I really miss my "support package" from the early 90's when I spoke with a person who really knew how to address my problems and/or questions. I am so tired of being outsourced to someone who has no idea how to address my problem- only to send me to "Document #8932023912 03" off of the Adobe website. I want to talk to someone who KNOWS and APPRECIATES this product, and who understands its internal behavior (like what I get when I call MAC SUPPORT). I will pay for it! I have invested thousands of dollars on Adobe software and am now at an unacceptable standstill.
    My small business relies on the Adobe Creative Suite 4 and the Contribute program. Up until now, I have never had a complaint, especially after moving to Mac a few years ago. Troubles started after two things (still not sure what the culprit was) - installing Snow Leopard and installing a Wacom Bamboo tablet (on the same day- my bad). Well, Illustrator, Photoshop work just fine as well as my other non-Adobe programs. But I can't even open InDesign (will post this on the proper post) or Contribute. So Apple had me deduce that I needed to create a new User and try things there. I eventually migrated to this new user but still, I cannot use Contribute.
    I have set permissions with the program and contents of the folder- in addition to my Contribute keys to no avail. I can't even open it. Nor can I open it in my Root user which at least lets me run In Design. I am at a total loss and I need to update a website for my client. PLEASE someone, I would so greatly appreciate any advice or instruction as to how to run Contribute on my new user. Or in my Root user. I just need to get it to open! Reinstall did nothing PLEASE HELP.
    A special note to anyone from Adobe: I want to talk to someone via a support package-- NOT outsourced. Does this fee-based option exist? It doesn't seem to from the main support number. If someone can help direct me, I would appreciate the proper instruction to do so. I need to get my InDesign running again and I have already invested multiple hours, days with Adobe support with NO solution at all. This is unacceptable in my mind, especially for the moneys invested.
    Thank you in advance... Aimee M.

    I totally share your views on Adobe period. I loved Macromedia., they also answered all my questions, then Adobe had to buy them out! I called them today (sales Dept., that's where they answer rather quickly., of course), they explained the following: You can pay for a live person, but the prices differ  in that they come in packages. In other words, you can pay a flat rate per hour for one-on-one OR pay for one-on-one tech support 5 times per month, and the amount of times per month vary from that point on., and so does the price!  I'm baffled! They are HORRIBLE!! . Like yourself, am on a standstill ever since I've been stuck with not being able to publish my site with current edits and it gives me a message whereas my own company name is "currently editing the page," so it keeps kicking out. I've tried everything, including but not limited to the following: going to the library and checking out books to troubleshoot; going on Adobe pages for support as well the Help features on the software program., etc...I'm exhausted!  ADOBE you guys need to reassess your Customer Care Support and your outsourcing business as well!!! YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR CUSTOMERS RATHER QUICKLY!!

    Smartform
    you can check this link here you can see the steps and you can do it the same by looking at it..
    http://smoschid.tripod.com/How_to_do_things_in_SAP/How_To_Build_SMARTFORMS/How_To_Build_SMARTFORMS.html
    SMARTFORMS STEPS.
    1. In Tcode se11 Create a structure(struct) same like the Internal table that you are going to use in your report.
    2. Create Table type(t_struct) of stracture in se11.
    3. In your program declare Internal table(Itab) type table of structure(struct).
    4. Define work area(wa) like line of internal table.
    5. Open Tcode Smartforms
    6. In form Global setting , forminterface Import parameter define Internal table(Itab) like table type of stracture(t_struct).
    7. In form Global setting , Global definitions , in Global data define Work area(wa) like type stracture(struct).
    8. In form pages and window, create Page node by default Page1 is available.
    9. In page node you can create numbers of secondary window. But in form there is only one Main window.
    10. By right click on page you can create windows or Go to Edit, Node, Create.
    11. After creating the window right click on window create table for displaying the data that you are passing through internal table.
    12. In the table Data parameter, loop internal internal table (Itab) into work area(wa).
    13. In table there are three areas Header, Main Area, Footer.
    14. Right click on the Main area create table line by default line type1 is there select it.
    15. Divide line into cells according to your need then for each cell create Text node.
    16. In text node general attribute. Write down fields of your work area(wa) or write any thing you want to display.
    17. Save form and activate it.
    18. Then go to Environment, function module name, there you get the name of function module copy it.
    19. In your program call the function module that you have copied from your form.
    20. In your program in exporting parameter of function pass the internal table(itab).
    SAP Smart Forms is introduced in SAP Basis Release 4.6C as the tool for creating and maintaining forms.
    SAP Smart Forms allow you to execute simple modifications to the form and in the form logic by using simple graphical tools; in 90% of all cases, this won't include any programming effort. Thus, a power user without any programming knowledge can
    configure forms with data from an SAP System for the relevant business processes.
    To print a form, you need a program for data retrieval and a Smart Form that contains the entire from logic. As data retrieval and form logic are separated, you must only adapt the Smart Form if changes to the form logic are necessary. The application program passes the data via a function module interface to the Smart Form. When activating the Smart Form, the system automatically generates a function module. At runtime, the system processes this function module.
    You can insert static and dynamic tables. This includes line feeds in individual table cells, triggering events for table headings and subtotals, and sorting data before output.
    You can check individual nodes as well as the entire form and find any existing errors in the tree structure. The data flow analysis checks whether all fields (variables) have a defined value at the moment they are displayed.
    SAP Smart Forms allow you to include graphics, which you can display either as part of the form or as background graphics. You use background graphics to copy the layout of an existing (scanned) form or to lend forms a company-specific look. During printout, you can suppress the background graphic, if desired.
    SAP Smart Forms also support postage optimizing.
    Also read SAP Note No. 168368 - Smart Forms: New form tool in Release 4.6C
    What Transaction to start SAP Smart Forms?
    Execute transaction SMARTFORMS to start SAP Smart Forms.
    Key Benefits of SAP Smart Forms:
    SAP Smart Forms allows you to reduce considerably the implementation costs of mySAP.com solutions since forms can be adjusted in minimum time.
    You design a form using the graphical Form Painter and the graphical Table Painter. The form logic is represented by a hierarchy structure (tree structure) that consists of individual nodes, such as nodes for global settings, nodes for texts, nodes for output tables, or nodes for graphics.
    To make changes, use Drag & Drop, Copy & Paste, and select different attributes.
    These actions do not include writing of coding lines or using a Script language.
    Using your form description maintained in the Form Builder, Smart Forms generates a function module that encapsulates layout, content and form logic. So you do not need a group of function modules to print a form, but only one.
    For Web publishing, the system provides a generated XML output of the processed form.
    Smart Forms provides a data stream called XML for Smart Forms (XSF) to allow the use of 3rd party printing tools. XSF passes form content from R/3 to an external product without passing any layout information about the Smart Form.
    SmartForms System Fields
    Within a form you can use the field string SFSY with its system fields. During form processing the system replaces these fields with the corresponding values. The field values come from the SAP System or are results of the processing.
    System fields of Smart Forms
    &SFSY-DATE&
    Displays the date. You determine the display format in the user master record.
    &SFSY-TIME&
    Displays the time of day in the form HH:MM:SS.
    &SFSY-PAGE&
    Inserts the number of the current print page into the text. You determine the format of the page number (for example, Arabic, numeric) in the page node.
    &SFSY-FORMPAGES&
    Displays the total number of pages for the currently processed form. This allows you to include texts such as'Page x of y' into your output.
    &SFSY-JOBPAGES&
    Contains the total page number of all forms in the currently processed print request.
    &SFSY-WINDOWNAME&
    Contains the name of the current window (string in the Window field)
    &SFSY-PAGENAME&
    Contains the name of the current page (string in the Page field)
    &SFSY-PAGEBREAK&
    Is set to 'X' after a page break (either automatic [Page 7] or command-controlled [Page 46])
    &SFSY-MAINEND&
    Is set as soon as processing of the main window on the current page ends
    &SFSY-EXCEPTION&
    Contains the name of the raised exception. You must trigger your own exceptions, which you defined in the form interface, using the user_exception macro (syntax: user_exception <exception name >).
    Example Forms Available in Standard SAP R/3
    SF_EXAMPLE_01
    Simple example; invoice with table output of flight booking for one customer
    SF_EXAMPLE_02
    Similar to SF_EXAMPLE_01 but with subtotals
    SF_EXAMPLE_03
    Similar to SF_EXAMPLE_02, whereby several customers are selected in the application program; the form is called for each customer and all form outputs are included in an output request
    Advantages of SAP Smart Forms
    SAP Smart Forms have the following advantages:
    1. The adaption of forms is supported to a large extent by graphic tools for layout and logic, so that no programming knowledge is necessary (at least 90% of all adjustments). Therefore, power user forms can also make configurations for your business processes with data from an SAP system. Consultants are only required in special cases.
    2. Displaying table structures (dynamic framing of texts)
    3. Output of background graphics, for form design in particular the use of templates which were scanned.
    4. Colored output of texts
    5. User-friendly and integrated Form Painter for the graphical design of forms
    6. Graphical Table Painter for drawing tables
    7. Reusing Font and paragraph formats in forms (Smart Styles)
    8. Data interface in XML format (XML for Smart Forms, in short XSF)
    9. Form translation is supported by standard translation tools
    10. Flexible reuse of text modules
    11. HTML output of forms (Basis release 6.10)
    12. Interactive Web forms with input fields, pushbuttons, radio buttons, etc. (Basis-Release 6.10)

  • How to make XML element used in RTF PRIVATE/PUBLIC ? I know how to hide columns in RTF, but dont know how to generate the xml in below way. Please help.

    Hi
    I am following below link to hide/show my columns dynamically. See "Column Formatting"
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12844_01/doc/bip.1013/e12187.pdf
    As per doc, element can be made private/public.
    <items type="PUBLIC">
    <item>
      <name>Plasma TV</name>
      <quantity>10</quantity>
      <price>4000</price>
    </item>
    <item>
    And same can be used to hide the column using condition
    <?if@column:/items/@type="PUBLIC"?>
    MY QUESTION IS HOW TO DO THIS IN MY XML BELOW?
    Below is part of my XML code which I am using in Data Definition for RTF.
    <group name="GH3" source="QH3">
    <element name="COLUMN_HEAD3" value="COLUMN_NAME" />
    </group>
    <group name="GH4" source="QH4">
    <element name="COLUMN_HEAD4" value="COLUMN_NAME" />
    </group>
    I am getting output like this.
    <LIST_GH3>
    <GH3>
    <COLUMN_HEAD3>REBILL_TO_OTHER_BUSINESS_UNIT</COLUMN_HEAD3>
    </GH3>
    </LIST_GH3>
    <LIST_GH4>
    <GH4>
    <COLUMN_HEAD4>XYZ</COLUMN_HEAD4>
    </GH4>
    </LIST_GH4>
    In order to use logic as per oracle document I want output like this.
    <LIST_GH3 type="PUBLIC">
    <GH3>
    <COLUMN_HEAD3>REBILL_TO_OTHER_BUSINESS_UNIT</COLUMN_HEAD3>
    </GH3>
    </LIST_GH3>
    <LIST_GH4 type="PRIVATE">
    <GH4>
    <COLUMN_HEAD4>BLANK</COLUMN_HEAD4>
    </GH4>
    </LIST_GH4>
    What changes I need to make in my XML code to get the runtime output as above? Please help. Where do i need to make changes in the above xml? Group name? Element name?
    I am planning to use below condition in RTF template to hide the column,  but dont know how to set the type of column as PRIVATE/PUBLIC in the XML output used to populate data in the RTF at runtime.
    <?if@column:/BTSPIEXP/LIST_GH3/@type=”PUBLIC”?>COLUMN_HEAD3<?end if?>

    Swapnil K.

    Hi,
    Issue has been resolved. I used the value of the element to determine to display it or not.

  • Please help me make a choice--lenovo thinkpad versus other lenovos?

    Hi everyone,
    Just joined and this is my first post here.
    I live in India. I can get a non Thinkpad
    Lenovo for 23,000 rupees [around $400]. The dealer didn’t tell me which model it was but it's dual core, 3rd generation, 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD, 15inch screen, battery that lasts 3hrs.
    PLUS a lifetime FREE subscription to Eset smart security six antivirus for as long as I'm in this particular state in India. If I move to another state or move to the US, as I hope to do in a couple of years, I will have to pay something.
    I don’t need a large HDD, so that's fine. I need the laptop only for word processing and the internet. No gaming or programming or photoshop, so I don’t need high configurations like i5 and i7, which are prohibitively expensive in India.
    OR I can get a second-hand Lenovo Thinkpad that is nearly 2 years old for about the same price. These are the specs according to the ad:
    Lenovo ThinkPad L420 Laptop / Intel Core i3 / 14.1" Display / 2GB RAM / 320GB HD
    Processor Speed:2.10 GHz
    Model:ThinkPad L420RAM:2 GB
    Operating System:Windows Home 7
    HDD:320 GBScreen
    Size:14.1"
    Colour:Black
    Processor:Intel Core i3 (3rd Generation) i3-2310M
    Warranty:No Warranty
    Bought this laptop in Jan 2012. In perfect working condition. 14.1 TFT, DVD dual layer writeable, wi-fi, great touchpad, and all others in a perfect working condition. Excellent battery -- lasts for 7 hours with movie playing / gaming.
    That was the ad. The advertiser told me that though he installed Windows he has always worked in Linux and therefore has not had any virus problem. Naturally we worry that any old laptop will have viruses.
    He did offer to format and reinstall everything. He also said he can offer me a licensed copy of win 8 and Word for free.
     I'm wondering which of the above I should buy. Can you please help me decide by answering my questions:
    1. I'm a writer; I write on the computer all day long. I need something that will work well if used 12 to 14 hours a day. Would the new laptop give much better service than the 2 year old one even if the older one is a thinkpad?
    2. does a thinkpad on average last more years than any ordinary laptop, or any other lenovo laptop? I can't afford to buy a new machine every couple of years. I want something that will last at least 5 to 7 years. My old desktop lasted 9 years, and I used it all day long.
    If the thinkpad lasts longer than other laptops, then it might have as many years in it left as a new laptop, even if it has lost two years of its life already.
    3. the advertiser says the battery lasts for 7 hours. Someone told me that after a couple of years, all batteries last half as long as they used to. Does this mean the used thinkpad's battery is now not likely to last 7 hours as the advertiser claims?
    But even if it lasts 4 or 5 hours, that would still be better than the mere 3 hours the  new laptop will run on battery.
    If I buy a new battery for the thinkpad, will it last 7 hours or do all laptops lose the ability to run long on batteries over the years?
    4. will a new dual core, 3rd generation processor be faster or slower than a two year old i3 3rd generation processor?
    5. The advertiser said the reason the price was high was that Lenovo thinkpad was unbreakable. You could throw it out of a moving car and it would survive. Now I have no intention of throwing it out of a moving car, but accidents happen and it would be nice to know nothing would happen to it if I accidentally dropped it while carrying it from place to place.
    So is it true the thinkpad will survive falls while ordinary lenovos won't?
    I'm sorry this post is so long. Thanks so much to anyone who can answer even some of my questions.

    Hi, welcome to the forum!
    First of all, you should ask the exact model and specifications of the new Lenovo from the dealer. You cannot compare models unless you know exactly the specifications. Second, you don't mention the price for the used L420, so we cannot give you definite answers. I will try to give you some guidelines, sorry if I'm not more specific.
    In general terms, a Thinkpad is more robust than normal laptops. The L420 has a spill resistant keyboard, metal hinges for the screen and a very good construction with good plastics. If you accidentally drop it, chances are it will not be easily damaged, but it all depends on how it falls, on what surface, at what angle, open or closed etc. etc. Dropping it from a running car would probably destroy it, as it would any other laptop. It is more resistant but not invulnerable, so it all depends on the specific conditions (or your luck!). I have Thinkpads 8 years old and they are still working perfectly. I have an L520 and i expect it to last easily that much under normal conditions. But, as with all machines, you never know, it could develop a problem and die tomorrow. The chance is slim, but it is there and it could happen. Again, it depends on your luck.
    On the other hand, I have helped friends buy new laptops and I have tested the Lenovo Essentials series (B590). They are very plain, well constucted, quiet and extra cool and they are cheap. For simple everyday use I would expect them to last as long as a Thinkpad, given the proper care of course. I wouldn't hesitate buying one of them.
    Now for the battery of the L420. If it is the normal 6 cells battery chances are that 7 hours are out of the question. Only with a well preserved 9 cells battery this number is possible, so ask the seller for the battery type.
    The laptop does not loose its capability of keeping the battery alive and a new battery will last according to its specs, whatever the age of the laptop. So you can always buy a new battery for an old laptop and there will be no problem.
    For typical applications like word processing and internet use, all modern dual core processors from intel are more than enough. Again, a comparison is impossible because you don't have the specs of the new Lenovo but there is really no difference for the use you have in mind. I would suggest you add another 2GB of ram though - to both laptops - to ensure a smoother operation. It would cost around $30.
    Another aspect you do not mention is the screen size and resolution. A 15.6'' standard HD (1366 X 768) is ok but maybe the 14.1'' with the same resolution will not be enough for writing all day. Ask the Thinkpad seller about the resolution of the screen, it would be nice if it is a 1600 X 900.
    All in all, for the same price I would prefer the Thinkpad because it is a better laptop. There are also the Thinkvantage tools (software only for Thinkpads) that add more value to the package, especially the Power Manager. But if it costs more than $500, it becomes less attractive. For $600 I would not even consider it.
    Of course this is just my opinion, based on the facts you gave. Try to get more details, wait for other opinions. In the end, you can't go wrong either way!

  • Library disappeared - I'm stuck - please help

    We just moved so I unplugged my computer. I backed up files onto a portable hard drive.
    After hooking up my computer at my new place, my itunes library is blank. I see 2 choices, but I'm afraid to press any buttons and wipe out the songs which are stored on my ipod.
    1) Automatically sync songs to my ipod. It says it syncs ipod to mirror music library (which is blank) so I don't think I want that one.
    2) Follow the new computer instructions - Drag itunes folder to itunes window?? Where is the itunes window? I've copied the files a few times (from external hard drive into itunes as well as file stored under my documents/my music (where I can see the songs I've purchased.)
    I'm just stuck and worried I'll lose all the songs I've paid for. Can someone please help me?
    Thanks!
    Dianne

    In addition to your back-up, are all your songs still in the usual folder(s) on your computer? Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

    If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
    When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
    Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    Senuti Mac Only (Currently only the beta version is iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
    iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
    TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    Floola Mac & Windows
    iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content only from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
    There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
    Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
