Verizon/Yahoo Mail Problems

I've looked everywhere for a similar problem to what I am experiencing, but can't find anyone who seems to be having the same thing going on. For more than a year, my family has used Verizon yahoo mail without any problems on the Apple Mail application. Nothing has changed recently, and the preferences settings have been:
POP Account
Email: [email protected]
Incoming Server: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net
Outgoing server: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
Username: [email protected]
Correct password
Outgoing mail server (SMTP: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
These worked for more than a year on two separate accounts run on two separate Apple computers, until a month ago something just stopped and now we can no longer send a receive mail on these servers through apple mail. We can access the accounts on Yahoo and Verizon online, but not in Mail itself. I get the message "Enter password for Account 'Verizon.' The POP server incoming.yahoo.verizon.net rejected the passowrd for user '[email protected]' Please re-enter your password, or cancel." When the password is entered, the same message pops right back up over and over again, even though the password is right. This is happening with TWO accounts on TWO computers, and absolutely nothing is changed, not even a software update. I've been on the phone with verizon for hours, and they insist this is an Apple problem, since the server works fine off the yahoo website. I've tried deleting the account, setting it up again, using incoming.verizon.net instead of incoming.yahoo.verizon.net . . . Does anyone know what is going on, or has seen this before? It's getting really inconvenient to have these accounts offline when nothing has happened.

Okay, I was finally able to get in touch with someone at Verizon who knew what is going on. I guessed that something had happened at Verizon or Yahoo between when this was working and when it wasn't, and I was right. Apparently, Yahoo cancelled its POP service as a portal partner with Verizon, making it impossible to people to access mail on outside POP accounts such as Outlook or Apple Mail. They said they sent out an email warning people this would happen, but I know we didn't get it. The rep explained that in order to access mail on outside applications, you have to switch to Windows Live as a portal partner (whether or not you have Mac, it still works). All you have to do on Mail is switch to incoming.verizon.net (deleting the yahoo). Use ports 110 and 25 (the defaults) instead of 110 and 587. If using a Mac, set up Windows Live by visiting http://www.verizon.net/getlivenow Then enter the primary account email address and password. It will want to download software (which won't work on a Mac), so choose custom installation and uncheck all downloads. All accounts linked to the primary will switch in about an hour. There is one caveat: all of your email on your verizon yahoo server will be deleted and WILL NOT TRANSFER OVER. Make sure to save all important emails to your computer before making the switch. To access email online, you just use Verizon webmail instead of Verizon/Yahoo mail off of the yahoo site. Hope that helps anyone with this problem!

Verizon yahoo mail - use POP3 to download Sent Items?

Hi,
I am using Verizon Yahoo Mail. I'd like to setup a POP3 account in Microsoft Outlook 2010 to download all of my messages onto my hard drive. I managed to get to the point where I am able to retrieve all of the messages in my Inbox, but if possible, I would also like to retrieve the messages that are in my Sent Items folder as well. Can anyone tell me how I can do this.

Verizon Yahoo utilizes the Yahoo front end for webmail, etc. Usually the problem that generates these errors codes is temporary and will resolve itself if you logout and log back in or simply try again in a couple of hours. If the problem happens everytime it will need to be investigated further.

I can't change the password in any Verizon email accounts I have. I never changed passwords in past
3 years. I am using the new version of Verizon Yahoo Mail. When I select the Account option within
Verizon Yahoo Mail, it takes me to the Verizon Member Center, and wants to change the Master Account
password for all my Verizon Services.
Are there any known problems with chanqing email account passwords in the new version of
Verizon Yahoo Mail ?
Can I change back to an older version of Verizon Yahoo Mail ?
The Yahoo Help System says I can't chnsage back to a previous version of Yahoo Mail, but I wonder
if that is just for Yahoo Email and not Verizon Yahoo Mail.

There have not been any troubles that I have heard of. It could be a browser problem. Try either using a different browser or running your Internet Explorer in compatibility mode. Please go into Internet Explorers "Tools" menu and click to turn on "compatibility view". It should allow you to sort after doing that. If you do not wish to enable compatibility view every time you want to sort, Go into compatibility view settings and add the site www.verizon.com to the list.

I use Verizon Fios as my ISP. I am not able to set up verizon yahoo mail on my mini. I had set it up previously on my apple laptop and my iPad, but it does not work on the iPad mini. Also this morning it stopped working on the other apple devices.

Why are Apple letting their customers down so badly? - Yahoo mail problems

Problems with Yahoo mail are being reported all over this forum now.
Lots of people are reporting that they either can not connect to their Yahoo account as the phone fails to authenticate their details (despite them being correct) or that the phone will not auto-check for mail. Various solutions such as rebooting, restoring and changing passwords have been suggested but these are not having an impact for me or for numerous others. Neither is this just an issue for jailboken phones but affects everyone.
Apple have sold the iPhone as more than just a phone. It was sold to customers as a complete solution for providing connectivity. It strikes me that the iPhone is currently failing to deliver some of its core functions. If I had bought any other phone by now I would have returned it to the shop. The only reason that I hold on is the thought that Apple will update the software soon to solve the problem.
Why then is Apple not communicating to it customers about this? The impression given is that they are ignoring our please for help. Apple may not be able to fix the problems immediately but at the very least they should make an announcement about it and acknowledge that they are working on fixing the problem with a timescale for a resolution.
Apple – I feel let down and I’m sure many others on here feel the same.
This does not fit with your brand promise and if not resolved soon could have negative connotations on your brand image and equity. You may not want to mention it in the press because it will look bad but it will look a lot worse if the competition’s PR agencies get hold of it first.
As a business owner I watched with interest at the launch of the Enterprise Beta Software. Reliability in a mail delivery system is critical and knowing that it is taken seriously by a provider is also critical. Apple are not currently giving this impression and I would therefore not currently recommend them to my peers.

I take your point, however there are number of Apple employees who are involved in discussions on this website. Furthermore Apple is missing a big trick if they are not review their own forums (let alone other forums) to get feedback on their products.
Apple has also made a big deal about the partnerships that it sets up with other companies (Google and Yahoo being amongst them). I do not think it is fair to pass the blame on to Yahoo. It is Apple's responsibility to ensure that the functions of its own products work. If Yahoo is letting them down they should be in discussion with Yahoo to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

Iphone6 mail yahoo mail problems

I am currently overseas and using the phone wifi only for mail and imessage.
I definitely have an internet connection as I can browse.
Today is Saturday and as of Thursday last week my phone stopped downloading my email from Yahoo mail. I am able to send mail but unable to receive any. I can use my PC to verify that I'm receiving the mail that I send from the phone.
I tried sending myself a test message. It does send but doesn't show up on Iphone. I again checked my pc and I see the mail using the web browser.
Recently I deleted the mail account on the phone and then re-configured it hoping that would fix the problem.

Yahoo Mail problems on IPhone

Was working then two days ago all of a sudden stopped working. I did not change my password. I have since used Yahoo's web based account (regular not plus). My password consists of only letters and numbers. I have tried deleting and recreating. I get messages saying wrong password or username. I have typed in 5 times and yes I have logged of on Web based mail and logged in typing in the same exact words and it works. I have also gotten a error message of something talking about imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com. ANY IDEAS??

Well, I've also been dealing with this strange problem of being unable to make Yahoo Mail work on my iphone. I've never had any problems until last Friday 3-27-09. I changed my password, I've attempted setting up Yahoo Mail on another iphone. Symptom does not change. At first, my account would authenticate, but then when I would go in to check in Mail, message would appear saying my password was incorrect. One thing I've also noticed, and I'm wondering if these problems correlate in some way, is that my Yahoo Messenger application on my desktop computer is also exhibiting the same sign-on problem. I really think this may be a Yahoo issue. But I've been in contact with one of their support bot's. They stated on a previous email that this is a known issue with Messenger. For my Iphone problem, they just redirect me to some general mobile Yahoo website that is pretty much useless to me. I've troubleshooted this issue enough to be confident that it is more complex and that it's not me entering in the wrong password and that it is not an Iphone settings problem. I opened a new Yahoo email ID, and was able to set it up successfully on the Iphone. It seems to me that some accounts may be affect and may not be a global "Yahoo Server" problem. Any other tips or advice would help here....

Yahoo mail, problem messages are marked as read

i am able to read the messages from yahoo mail using pop3, but even new messages are marked as read once retrieved through client code.
How to leave new messages as unread?

As explained in the JavaMail FAQ, the POP3 protocol,
and thus the POP3 driver for JavaMail, does not
support any flags for messages.
I don't know what you mean when you say that new
messages are marked as read when retrieved by
client code. POP3 doesn't know what's new or what's
read. The Yahoo web interface might be assuming
that messages retrieved by a POP3 client have been
read, however. I don't know of any way to control
that.

Yahoo mail problem over WiFi

When i am connected to WiFi and try to check my yahoo mail it says "cannot get mail. connection to the server 'xxxxxx' failed." this only happens when connected to wifi and only half the time. sometimes i can get it over wifi but not always. ive tried everything to fix it like turn on and off the account, retype password, delete and reconfigure account.

Push has worked fine for me on 3G, Wi-Fi, and Edge. Try restarting your iphone and see if that makes a difference. Hold down the sleep button, slide the power off slider to the right, then once it's off press down on the sleep button again.

I am using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox for 64 bit Windows 7 in Verizon Yahoo Mail. My problem is that when I click on an email and scroll through it to read it the whole screen below the tool bars scrolls together. This is wrong.

I am using a Beta version of Firefox.

Up until yesterday I had no problems collecting and sending my mail
from my Yahoo Verizon mail account. I know it's been answered be for
but I'm still having no luck. I'm missing something. Could some one post the setup directions again?

Friday night I started having trouble with my Verizon email, after 40 minutes with tech support I had some luck accessing it. Monday morning I was using my mail and it just went out completely. I called tech support and the woman explained that that my browser was out of date. I asked which browser (I use Safari, Firefox, Opera and IE) was suddenly out of date and on which computer (I had the same problem on four of my computers at the same time). She said I had to install Google Chrome (which I hate) and we could still not access ANY Verizon web site. After she spent the next hour (the total time of the call was 118 minutes) controlling my computer she said she would send the case to the next level. I was able to go next door and log on using his Time Warner connection to check my mail. After doing this twice, my password no longer worked and I was locked out again! I called Verizon back and they said that email tech services was working on my case and had probably changed my password (what!!!???) so they could work on it. I was told they would contact me within twenty four hours (still no word). Finally it started working late in the afternoon. In less than a dozen hours I had been sent my current bill, you know that they are going to make certain THAT email gets through. Hey Verizon, just man up and say that your having problems with your server instead of keeping us on the line for a total of over three hours.

AT&T Yahoo Mail Problems since Snow Leopard

Before my upgrade to SL I used an AT&T Yahoo POP account in Mail. When I upgraded to SL, the account upgraded without a problem. I am now trying to add my husband's AT&T Yahoo POP account and I keep getting the following message:
"Logging in to the att.net POP server “pop.att.yahoo.com” failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn’t correct, you cannot receive messages."
All of the settings are correct for both incoming and outgoing servers (I checked them on-line and over the phone with AT&T Technical Support) and the username and password are correct because I am able to log into the account on the web without a problem. The account is also working fine on an iphone.
I also tried re-installing Mail from my Snow Leopard Disk under Custom Installs and that did not help.
Anyone else having this problem?

Read the ENTIRE thread above and tried just about everything. All of my email accounts that existed before the upgrade seem to be working (POP AT&T account and Mobile Me). I consider myself lucky since so many people on the board can't say that.
No matter what I try, I can't add a new POP AT&T account or an Exchange account. I was able to add an IMAP Gmail account. I keep getting a message telling me that my password for the account I am trying to add has been rejected by the server.
Mail is not saving my password in the settings. I've added it countless times. I've tried with authentication and without. I've changed port settings. I had my ISP open port 25 while on the phone with them without success. I've repaired my keychains. I've deleted SMTP items in my keychain and replaced them. I've done it on my desktop and have created new desktops to try it with. Can't add a new account.
No matter how many times I enter the password (which I know with 100% certainty is correct) I keep getting the rejection message and it never "saves" the password in the Mail preferences.
Sigh...

At&t sbc yahoo mail problem

I have recently switched to at&t high speed and can receive mail, but cannot send email.
The at&t instructions say I need SMTP authentication with an outgoing mail port #25.
I don't see any place to input this information.
Can anyone help?

I may have missed something, but what mail client are you using?
Mail? Netscape?
If Mail, go to Preferences, Account, select Outgoing Server Settings. Then Add Server, or if you have one entered, Edit Server.
For your area, make sure you specify the correct smtp.area.yahoo.com per the following: (sorry it may not look pretty here)

Then make sure you enter the port under server settings.
The process is similar for NScape, except you would enter the settings for your mail account outgoing server settings.

Losing inbox emails in verizon yahoo mail

periodically the inbox clears except for the last 15 to 20 inputs. why ? how can i stop the mail from being removed

If you're using outlook to view your email and something else to view them, make sure that you have "keep a copy of this email on the server". I know when you use Outlook, delete from server after 14 days is automatically checked off.

Firefox periodically shows "server not found" message for Verizon/Yahoo email. Often self corrects in 5 to 10 minutes ?

System is Windows VISTA. While on Verizon/Yahoo mail Firefox will lose the connection and shoe a "server not found" message. Explorer will connect with no problem to the email server. The problem self corrects with in 5 or 10 minutes but this may happen 5 or 6 time in a day.
Is this a Firefox problem with proxy access. Settings appear to be the same.

i forgot to mention , that when i striped this machine back down to 10.3.7 and before i re built i did do a hardware check with the original install Disks [3] and every thing came back clean.
the weird ness with the colors on window, if i pass a app like text edit over the area , the color will not cover the app but stay in the background.
when i first saw this color thing i had the preference pane out and was moving it around on screen and the colors were bleeding off of the preference pane onto the screen.
if you have any idea as to what is going on here let me know.
