Version share statistics for OS X 10.5 vs OS X 10.6 ?
Hello,
I'm interested if anyone has current data for the install base of 10.5 vs 10.6?
Best Regards,
NetworkGenie11
NetApplications does some tracking of this. I'm not sure of the scope of its relevance, or the accuracy, but of all PC users the latest stats (for March 2011) are:
OS X 10.6: 3.50%
OS X 10.5: 1.31%
OS X 10.4: 0.37%
Other OS X: 0.05%
This includes all android, iOS, Windows, Linux, and other operating systems, so if you scale it up just for the Mac OS entries you get:
OS X 10.6: 66.92%
OS X 10.5: 25.04%
OS X 10.4: 7.07%
Other OS X: 0.95%

Hi RH community,
Any chance someone here could point me in the direction of
market share statistics for RoboHelp?
Anytime between now and say X5 would be great. I did some
some searching and haven't come up with much and your help would be
greatly appriciated.
Thank you,
M.V.Welcome to the forum.
You're playing games with us, right? :-)
The problem with stats like that is who did the survey, what
questions were asked and who was asked.
On the Writers UA site there are various surveys. You have to
take into account the people aware of Writers UA and attending the
conferences are the more interested users and those working for
wealthier companies, not the whole market.
Tom Johnson is running a survey right now on his
http://idratherbewriting.com
site. He has posted on HATT that it was started more to test the
survey software. One finding I made is that it is possible to vote
more than once. Before anyone jumps up and down, I am not
suggesting anyone has done that to rig the results. Your question
was about surveys though and I am making the point that you have to
know it is a survey that can be relied on.
So you end up with the surveys done by companies who
understand the many pitfalls of surveys. They are expensive so
probably undertaken for the software vendors and not published.
Are you asking because you want to go for the most popular
tool? If so, I would respectfully suggest that is not the best
approach. No one tool is best for everyone. If not, perhaps if you
tell us why you ask and then maybe we can help in a different way. -
I cannot get pages from iworks to share on Mountain Lion. Do I need a new version of pages for Mountain Lion instead of iworks?
You need Pages 09 (Version 4) to take advantage of Mountain Lion's iCloud features. You don't say what version you have.

Hi All,
Is there a way to manage statistics for collections used as table types in SQL.

While searching I had found out that we can use CARDINALITY hint to set statistics for TABLE funtion.
But I preferred not to say, as it is currently undocumented hint. I now think I should have mentioned it while posting for the first time
http://www.oracle-developer.net/display.php?id=427
If we go across the document, it has mentioned in total 3 hints to set statistics :
1) CARDINALITY (Undocumented)
2) OPT_ESTIMATE ( Undocumented )
3) DYNAMIC_SAMPLING ( Documented )
4) Extensible Optimiser
Tried it out with different hints and it is working as expected.
i.e. cardinality and opt_estimate are taking the default set value
But using dynamic_sampling hint provides the most correct estimate of the rows ( which is 2 in this particular case )

Note
- dynamic sampling used for this statement (level=2)I will be testing the last option "Extensible Optimizer" and put my findings here .
I hope oracle in future releases, improve the statistics gathering for collections which can be used in DML and not just use the default block size.
By the way, are you aware why it uses the default block size ? Is it because it is the smallest granular unit which oracle provides ?

Hello,
I want to see the previous month workload statistics for my system. When I go to st03n ->expert mode, go to month view and when I click on previous month workload analysis I see data for 12 days only. However, the data is available in weekly view.
What can be the problem?

AUTOMATIC UPDATE STATISTICS for VB* tables ON automatically
Hello All,
We had reviewed our ECC system with SAP and they recommended us to OFF the AUTOMATIC UPDATE STATISTICS for VBDATA, VBHDR and VBMOD.
We executed the script EXEC sp_autostats <tablename>, 'OFF' but the status goes ON after a while.
Checked the SAP note 771352 but did not get proper idea from it.
MS SQL database used is 2008.
Can someone suggest and share his/her experience.
Regards,
MohitHi Mohit,
Did you ran the sap_z* script ?
What is your SP level - did you check 1702325 - Alerts appear for VB tables
Also, I asked to to use NORECOMPUTE - have you tried that ?

Gathering Hardware Utilization Statistics for UCS B/C Series via SNMP - Is it possible?
It is possible to gather typical cpu, memory, fan speed, and hdd utilization statistics from the Cisco MIBs for UCS B / C series servers?
The excellent Cisco UCS Monitoring Resource Handbook (https://communities.cisco.com/docs/DOC-37197) provides a link to the following document for MIB Loading Order and Statistics Collection Details:
MIB Reference for Cisco UCS Standalone C-Series Servers:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/mib/c-series/b_UCS_Standalone_C-Series_MIBRef.pdf
In Table Four of the above referenced document, it contains various MIBs/OIDs used for gathering statistics.
For example, this processor section:
Processor
CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-PROCESSOR-MIB
.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.719.1.41 is the parent OID where the key statistics reside.
processorEnvStats—Provides all CPU power and temperature statistics for every CPU socket.
processorUnit—Provides all CPU statistics for every CPU.
When walking the following C Series with the suggested OID:

Typical CPU performance graphs provide percentage integers in vertical or y-axis and time in the horizontal or x-axis. The suggested OID yields no percentage utilization which I can graph. Am I correct in concluding that we must poll the hypervisor for this data instead of the CIMC directly?
Thanks,
AmirHi tak,
my suggestion is to place the main prog outside the loop B but inside loop A. This makes sure, that Loop A is turning once with every execution of the main prog. Beside this Loop B is executing independently. Then you need some communication between your main program and the loop B which can be implemented easiest with global variables, one for each communication direction. This could look like this to abort the main prog on "emergency":
and to tell the Loop B to stop on finish of the Main prog:
In the main prog- VI (which is a bit weird, because the while loop execute always and only once and therefore is unnecessary) your experiment shoult execute in a while loop, since it is abortable dynamically. The for loop will execute the predefined count, defined by wiring the "loop count"- terminal or wiring an array with autoindexing.
I hope this helped a bit,
dave

I know he said the speed stats were things related to RAM and how quickly a program loads and operates.ALWAYS

Hopefully that version will have a basic Slideshow selection. I have Pages version 2.1 for the i-pad. I have Pages on my Macbook, version 4.3. When I try to ipen a doc on my Mac it says I need a newer version to open this doc. There is no newer version. I need these docs in a bad way and cant get to them on the Mac. Any ideas?
IOS Pages 2.0 and 2.1 implement an entirely incompatible document format with Pages ’09 v4.3. It cannot open them, and you are then prompted to update to Pages v5+ which is compatible with your IOS Pages.
Unfortunately, updating to Pages v5+ is a bad thing, as it is a brand new application that has omitted over 90+ features from Pages ’09 v4.3. When you update to Pages v5+, it will move your old still functional version of the earlier Pages into /Applications/iWork. Aside from all the missing functionality, Pages v5+ will likely damage older documents that depend on specific Pages ’09 v4.3 features (including AppleScript and custom Templates).
Oh, by the way, the older and new Pages documents have the same filename extension (.pages) making document organization difficult without applying different tag colors to old and new documents.
We are recommending that users remain on their earlier Pages version. You may have to export documents from IOS Pages as Word .docx to avoid the OS X Pages update notice. -
If I'm in LIghtroom 5, and try to Edit in Photoshop CS6, I always get the following message: "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 8.6 for full compatibility." But I have updated to 8.6 and have no remaining updates. How can I fix this?
If I click "Open Anyway" or "Render using Lightroom", I get the following message:
"Adobe Photoshop CS6 cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop CS6 works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X."
Please tell me what to do so I can edit from Lightroom to Photoshop. In Photoshop, if you choose Help - About Plug-in... - Camera Raw, does it say 8.6?
Seems to me there was some hiccup they found in the update process, which prompted this:
Camera Raw updates cannot be applied
I honestly don't know if the problem could apply to 8.6 as well, which is why I asked you to check to make very sure you really got it.

When Firefox 4 was proposed, I immediately checked the system requirements for Mac user:
"MacOS 5
MacOS 6"
So I downloaded it, since my OS is 10.5.8 (PPC), I thought I was fine. When downloaded, the Firefox icon showed a Stop sign in the middle: maybe a new logo? But when trying to open it, a window popped up saying this version was not compatible with my system. Therefore, using Time Machine, I reverted back to Firefox 3.6.16.
If this is the case, you should absolutely warn '''PPC''' users not to download Firefox 4. Your version is probably for '''Intel''' versions.
Unless you come up with a fix, I won't be able to use Firefox 4 until I change computers, having updated my system to the last possible upgrade.Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
