View Attribute Label Query

Hi,
I am a novice as long as OAF is concerned.
I have one VO and I want to find out how does Oracle display its label on the page.
For eg.
Here is a some part of my XML file
==========================
<ViewAttribute
Name="FreightAmount"
IsQueriable="false"
IsPersistent="false"
Precision="4000"
Type="java.lang.String"
AliasName="FREIGHT_AMOUNT"
ColumnType="VARCHAR2"
Expression="FREIGHT_AMOUNT"
SQLType="VARCHAR" >
<DesignTime>
<Attr Name="_DisplaySize" Value="4000" />
</DesignTime>
</ViewAttribute>
===================
Here AliasName is FREIGHT_AMOUNT but when it renders on the page it shows the label as "Shipping". How does Oracle do it? Is it possible to dynamically change the label value (here "Shipping") based on some custom logic?
Any help in this regards is highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Srinath!
To make my question more clear, the following is my actual PG.xml
<jrad:page xmlns:jrad="http://xmlns.oracle.com/jrad" xmlns:oa="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oa" xmlns:ui="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/ui" version="9.0.3.6.2_398" xml:lang="en-US" file-version="$Header: TmRealPreviewPG.xml 115.1 2004/02/17 11:33:49 sashetty noship $">
<jrad:content>
<oa:pageLayout amDefName="oracle.apps.ar.bpa.templatemgmt.templates.server.TemplateAM" id="PageLayoutRN">
<ui:contents>
<oa:stackLayout id="PreviewRN" amDefName="oracle.apps.ar.bpa.presentment.server.PageAM" controllerClass="oracle.apps.ar.bpa.presentment.webui.PageCO"/>
</ui:contents>
<ui:corporateBranding>
<oa:image id="corporateBrandingImage" source="/OA_MEDIA/FNDSSCORP.gif"/>
</ui:corporateBranding>
</oa:pageLayout>
</jrad:content>
</jrad:page>
My Label is in stackLayout and as you can see there is not much information available there in PG.xml ... I even tried thorough "Personalize Page"...but it (my field) does not show up there also even after i collapse the structure tree to the detail level(I have all the profiles setup properly as per the OAF Profiles doc).
My requirement is to make a particular fields label (which is currently Shipping) to be dynamically changed based of my custom logic which checks the DFF segments for what the label should be.
In the page definition, my fields is a styledText , ViewObject= ARInvoiceHeaderVVO , ViewAttribute=FreightAmount
And the nearest enclosing controller class is for the StackLayout controller =PageCO and application module=PageAM .
Hope this clears my scenario ...
Please help.
Thanks.

  • Override attribute label values?

    Hi!
    I want to override view attribute label default values and replace them with translations that I get from a database table.
    I've made custom classes TranslateViewDefImpl (overriden function 'getAttributeDefImpls') which extends ViewDefImpl, TranslateViewObjectImpl (overriden 'getViewAttributeDefImpls') extends ViewObjectImpl, TranslateViewRowImpl (overriden 'createViewRowAttrHints' following this post) extends ViewRowImpl where I try to override attribute definitions.
    I used 'setProperty' method on attribute definitions to set 'AttributeHints.ATTRIBUTE_LABEL' and at first everything seemed fine - the right attribute translation appeared. But the problem is when we have two or more clients with different locale using the same page. In overriden methods using 'adi.setProperty(AttributeHints.ATTRIBUTE_LABEL, labelTranslation)', label gets set to the right client's (A) locale translation, but the problem is when another client B with different locale accesses the same page. At first he sees the right translations, but when the first client A refreshes the page, all attribute label translations are in the wrong locale (using client B's locale). When client A refreshes the page again, labels are in the right locale again, but when client B refreshes, he sees client A's locale translations.
    It looks like these overriden classes are all static for the whole application and when a property gets set, all clients are using the same property, adi.getProperty(AttributeHints.ATTRIBUTE_LABEL) returns the same value for all clients using the application.
    Then I stumbled accross this next post. At first I thought I've found the solution, but when I tried this approach it didn't work. This is the code:
    AttributeDefImpl at = (AttributeDefImpl) vo.getAttributeDef(0);
         at.setProperty(AttributeDefImpl.ATTRIBUTE_LABEL +"_ResId",
                        "VEmployees.Id_LABEL");
         at = (AttributeDefImpl) vo.getAttributeDef(1);
         at.setProperty(AttributeDefImpl.ATTRIBUTE_LABEL +"_ResId",
                        "VEmployees.LastName_LABEL");
         ViewDefImpl viewDef = (ViewDefImpl) ((ViewObjectImpl) vo).getDef();
         //Create custom properties bundle definition
         PropertiesBundleDef rb = new PropertiesBundleDef(viewDef);
         rb.setPropertiesFile("com.cs.blog.dynamicbundle.model.VEmployeesBundle");
         viewDef.setResourceBundleDef(rb);
    I can't find anywhere documentation using "_ResId" with AttributeDefImpl.ATTRIBUTE_LABEL and setting my own resource bundle (that gets all translations from a database source). When I use this approach, attribute label values are not changed and have their default value.
    Please help. Is my approach way off? How did you translate view attribute labels using database translations?
    I'm using JDevelper 11.1.2.3.0

    Marko,
    All you need is:
    1. Your EO to point towards a ListResourceBundle class, instead of the default property bundle, as I described above.
    2. Each EO attribute to have the right name for the label:
        <Attribute
              Name="CountryNo"
              Precision="22"
              ColumnName="CountryNo"
              SQLType="NUMBER"
              Type="java.math.BigDecimal"
              ColumnType="NUMBER"
              IsPersistent="false"
              IsUpdateable="false">
            <Properties>
                <SchemaBasedProperties>
                    <LABEL
                          ResId="COUNTRY_NO_LABEL"/>
                    <FMT_FORMATTER
                          ResId="DefaultNumberFormatter_FMT_FORMATTER"/>
                    <FMT_FORMAT
                          ResId="MASK_NUMBER_1"/>
                </SchemaBasedProperties>
            </Properties>
        </Attribute>
    Here, you will need COUNTRY_NO_LABEL to be a key in your  dynamic resource bundle .
    As for my last comments, I am just pointing out that if you will add your labels through JDeveloper UI (through UI Hints tab), JDeveloper might try to change your code from ListResource class. Is why is better to do it manually, I think.
    Hope this helps,
    Florin

  • Simple checkbox query on underlying view attribute

    Hi,
    I can associate a messageCheckBox with a view instance's view attribute. Simple question: if I have only "Y" and "N" as the possible values of the view attribute, will the "checked" and "unchecked" thing take care of itself based on this value? What if the attribute value is null?
    Thanks,
    Aditya

    Are you looking to default the value at the page initialization or at runtime on some user action? For 1st scenario, defaulting in query will do, for later scenario, it depends on the use case you have if any.

  • Getting exception after adding new View attribute in OCO

    Hi,
    I have added a new field in Oracle Customers Online -> Customers -> Accounts Summary page. I had changed the query in the VO and added the view attribute through JDeveloper and created the corresponding VORowImpl java class. I have referred the same View attribute in the page bean also. When i am doing the testing i am getting the exception. Any idea to resolve this issue. I have given the customization details below.
    Page bean: IMCAccountsSummaryEditPG.xml
    Newly added line..
                                            <oa:messageStyledText id="CreditHold" dataType="VARCHAR2" prompt="CreditHold" text="CreditHold" viewName="IMCCustAcoountsVO1" viewAttr="CreditHold" maximumLength="30" sortState="yes" shortDesc="Credit Hold"/>
    VO: IMCCustAcoountsVO.xml
    Refer credit_hold in the query and CreditHold in the view attribute for the newly added column.

    First this is not the right way to do it. You should extend the VO and create a new vo and add the new attribute, then use personalization to add a new item, create substitution to represent the old VO with your new VO. Did you follow these steps to do the extension ?

  • Issue with display of view attributes via page personalization

    Hi,
    We are having the standard search region whose VO we are extending to display additional columns.
    For this we did VO Ext, migrated the code to the instance. We added new columns in the ‘Result Region’ via personalization and mapped the corresponding view attribute to it.
    The issue is that, in spite of the mapping being correct, it is trying to display the value of previous view attribute from the same view instance.
    Example:
    Std Query fetches say Employee Name, Employee Id and we have extended the VO to include say DeptNo, DeptName.Now on doing Personalization for displaying the new fields we are getting Employee Id in DeptNo column and DeptNo in DeptName column.
    In short, we can say like, the newly added columns are displaying the values of the previous view attribute columns.
    Kindy provide your inputs for resolving this issue.
    Reagrds,
    Asha

    Hi,
    i think u need to import jpx also .
    Thanks

  • ADF 11g: VO attribute labels not displayed in deployed application

    We are using JDev 11.1.1.2.0.
    In our project we have four ViewController projects, three of which are included in the "main" view project as ADF libraries. At least one of the library projects uses attribute labels defined in view objects for the UI, for instance in a simple search field dropdown list for selecting the search attribute. When the application is run on the integrated WLS or deployed to a local WLS instance, the labels are displayed correctly as entered to the view objects:
    http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/6750/adflabelscorrect.png
    When we deploy the application to the remote WLS server, however, some of these labels stop working and instead the search dropdown list displays the default values (column names) for attribute labels:
    http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/3811/adflabelsincorrect.png
    We have checked the deployment EAR file and confirmed that the model project's message bundle does include the labels which are missing from the UI:
    ses.model.vo.TukihakemuksetView.EsittelijaNumero_LABEL=Esittelij\u00E4
    ses.model.vo.TukihakemuksetView.RahaNumero_LABEL=Rahanl\u00E4hde
    ses.model.vo.TukihakemuksetView.HankNumero_LABEL=HankeThis problem doesn't affect all the labels though, as most of the values are correctly retrieved from the message bundle. It seems that the missing labels are at the bottom of the message bundle file, ie. the latest additions. For some reason the deployed version is not picking these up.
    The remote WLS is the same version as in the dev environment (10.3.2.0).
    Any ideas what might be the problem?
    Thanks,
    Joonas

    Replying to myself here, this is most likely related to the following Metalink bug report:
    Bug 9484924: RESOURCE BUNDLE IS NOT RELOADED AFTER STOP/START OF AN ADF APPLICATION
    No workaround available, though, except restarting managed server after bundle modifications..

  • How to get view attribute old value

    Hello,
    I have an update page which has a view object associate with, I first execute query to display view attribute value on the page, then I edit the page, and before saving to database, I want to compare row attribute value before editting and the one after editting. row.getAttributeName("attributeName") always returns whatever value currently on the screen.
    Is there any method that allows me to get old row attribute value, the value comes from database?
    thanks
    Lei

    Lei,
    If you are concerned only about a couple of attributes, then you can manage with a separate copy of the data. But if the data is in bulk, better leave it to pl/sql side of validation.

  • How to Get view attribute of another VO

    HI OAF Guys,
    I have a query to get view attribute of another VO. I will explain the case:
    I created a separated region(consists of Advanced Table-in-Advanced Table) and i added it to the already existing page. I want to populate the master table content by passing the custacctid and contactid to the VO(Master table). Here contact id, we can get using party id. This party id view attribute is in another VO(This VO is already existed in the page). How to access that VO and view Attribute.
    If some one knows this, respond asap as it is urgent requirement.
    Kind&Regards
    U.Palakondaiah

    Hi tapash,
    thx for ur soon reply. I will explain a little bit more. In the existing page, there is a VO(IMCCustAccountRolesVO) having IMCAcctContactUpdateCO and
    IMCCustAccountContactAM controller and Application modules respectively.
    Now I added a region to this page(consists Advanced table-in-advanced table). This region has ContactPrivilegesCO and ContactPrivilegesAM conroller and Application modules respectively. I created a VO(EqxContPrvlVO) to populate the values in master table. For this one I have to pass contactid. we can get this contactid by using partyid which is view attribute of IMCCustAccountRolesVO.
    Now can I get this view attribute(PartyId) in ContactPrivilegesAM?
    I think you undetstand the situation. If you have any doubts let me know..
    Thanks & Regards
    U.Palakondaiah

  • Validation based on view attributes

    JDeveloper 11.1.1.x
    What is the best practice to create validations based on a view attribute from a view object that is of a level higher in the hierarchy?
    For example:
         * Use the departments and employees tables from the hr schema.
         * Create an EO for only the employees table, so not for the department table
         * Create VO's for both tables. You should create the Viewlink manually between both views.
         * In the query for the department, add a calculated field in the query.
         For example : availableSalary : 100000 - (select sum(salary) from employees where department_id = Departments.DEPARTMENT_ID) availableSalary
         * I would like to add a validation on the salary field of the employee EO, that says that the new value shouldn't be bigger then the availableSalary field
         Be aware : that when changing an existing salary, only the difference between the old and new salary should be taken into account
         (This removes the "Compare with View Object Attribute" possibility :-()
         * I also want to use some fields from the departments view in my error message on the salary field of the employees EO.
    How can we best tackle these requirements ?
    Thank you in advance.
    Filip Huysmans.

    Filip,
    I think you are trying to avoid the lesser cost of a Department Entity by an extremely expensive way to get to the comparison done. Firstly, you wire a view instance with an entity, which is strange as there is no association between the entity and the View Object. So all you would have is to access a method in the AM Impl method that looks up the VO and returns the current row's information you need. This AM method can be referenced from the entity object using groovy to perform the comparison (you see that even this is kind of awkward as it connects the entity to the AM, producing a tight coupling that makes any of your code reviewers shake heads in disbelieve). Assuming the update of the VO updates the entity (Departments EO you don't have), you could follow an association using Groovy to perform the validation (which I think sounds easier to do (though by the small cost of creating an EO)
    Btw.:
    if you have a ViewLink defined then the transient attribute can be easier calculated using Groovy
    10000 - DetailTargeName.sum('Salary');
    I would think its less expensive then running a SQL query for each department Id

  • Can we change the View attribute of the Switcher through PERSONALISE PAGE?

    Can we change the View attribute of the Switcher through PERSONALISE PAGE? I want this switcher to display another column. This switcher that i want to change is a seeded one. I have extended a VO and added a new attribute. I want this Switcher to display this new attribute. How can I acheive this.

    When I do exactly that I get a .XLS file that when you open it and click Save As comes up in Single Web Page mode. When I change the type I get a much smaller file. I am doing exactly what you describe, but with different results. Is it possible that this is configurable?
    Here is a screenshot of me exporting:
    http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab359/jameyweare/problem1.gif
    Here is the properties of the file. As you can see the size is 215kb This is actually a very small query for for demonstration purposes. I have queries that return 20k rows with 10 to 15 columns. This creates a spreadsheet that is over 20MB.
    http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab359/jameyweare/problem2.gif
    This next screenshot is of the Save As dialog from Excel. I have highlighted the file type that the file is currently saved in.
    http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab359/jameyweare/problem3.gif
    In this screenshot I have changed the file format.
    http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab359/jameyweare/problem4.gif
    Here is the new properties. The file size has decreased to 57.5kb. In the cases where I had files that were 20MB or greater (and took aver 10 minutes to open up), this process reduced those files to about 200kb.

    Any help on this would be appreciated.

  • View attributes can not be retrieved. View instance not found or undefined

    Hi,
    I am creating a simple master detail OAF page. For this I have done following steps:
    1. Created ParentEO and ChildEO
    2. Created ParentVO with a transient attribute called "SelectFlag" with default value "Y" .
    3. Created ChildVO
    4. Created a UserViewLink.
    5. Created Application module (UserAM).
    6. New Page UserPG
    7. In the main region I have defined Application Module.
    8. Under the main region, I have created a new advanced table region with following properties:
    View Instance : ParentVO1
    Detail View Attribute : SelectFlag
    View Link Instance: UserViewLink.
    Now when I click to select the "Child View Attribute", it gives a pop up saying "View attributes can not be retrieved. View instance not found or undefined".
    Please help, I am not able to proceed on this.
    Thanks,
    Anupam

    Anupam,
    I do not see in your steps where you associated the VO with the AM. In order to select an attribute, the AM must have an instance of the VO associated with it. Double click the AM in the navigator. Click Data Model and shuttle the VO's you want to be available from the left to the right.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to view the sql query?

    hi,
      how to view the sql query formed from the xml structure in the receiver jdbc?

    You can view SAP Note at
    http://service.sap.com/notes
    But you require SMP login ID for this which you should get from your company. The content of the notes are as follows:
    Reason and Prerequisites
    You are looking for additional parameter settings. There are two possible reasons why a feature is available via the "additional parameters" table in the "advanced mode" section of the configuration, but not as documented parameter in the configuration UI itself:
    Category 1: The parameter has been introduced for a patch or a SP upgrade where no UI upgrade and/or documentation upgrade was possible. In this case, the parameter will be moved to the UI and the documentation as soon as possible. The parameter in the "additional parameters" table will be deprecated after this move, but still be working. The parameter belongs to the supported adapter functionality and can be used in all, also productive, scenarios.
    Category 2. The parameter has been introduced for testing purposes, proof-of-concept scenarios, as workaround or as pre-released functionality. In this case, the parameter may or may not be moved to the UI and documentation, and the functionality may be changed, replaced or removed. For this parameter category there is no guaranteed support and usage in productive scenarios is not supported.
    When you want to use a parameter documented here, please be aware to which category it belongs!
    Solution
    The following list shows all available parameters of category 1 or 2. Please note:
    Parameter names are always case-sensitive! Parameter values may be case-sensitive, this is documented for each parameter.
    Parameter names and values as documented below must be used always without quotaton marks ("), if not explicitly stated otherwise.
    The default value of a parameter is always chosen that it does not change the standard functionality
    JDBC Receiver Adapter Parameters
    1. Parameter name: "logSQLStatement"
                  Parameter type: boolean
                  Parameter value: true for any string value, false only for empty string
                  Parameter value default: false (empty String)
                  Available with: SP9
                  Category: 2
                  Description:
                  When implementing a scenario with the JDBC receiver adapter, it may be helpful to see which SQL statement is generated by the JDBC adapter from the XI message content for error analysis. Before SP9, this can only be found in the trace of the JDBC adapter if trace level DEBUG is activated. With SP9, the generated SQL statement will be shown in the details page (audit protocol) of the message monitor for each message directly.
                  This should be used only during the test phase and not in productive scenarios.

    Prateek

  • Is there a way to force a View Object to query the database always?

    Dear All,
    Is there a way to force a view object to always scan the database table to read the latest data?
    Here's my use case.
    I have a page that loads data then I have a button which executes the following code.
    viewObject.setApplyViewCriteriaName("SampleCriteria");
    viewObject.setNamedWhereClauseParam("arg1", "test");
    viewObject.executeQuery();
    RowSetIterator it = viewObject.createRowSetIterator(null);
    while(it.hasNext()) {
         /* More Code */
    }Suppose after page load, I edited some row in the table and then I clicked the button. I notice that my edited row
    was not reflected in the query.
    I am not sure but is there some configuration to check so that when the viewobject executes it will always query the data
    from the table?
    I am thinking that there is some level of caching and I want to disable it. If I restart my application, I notice that it is able to read the latest data.
    JDEV 11.1.1.5

    By default a view object performs its query against the database to retrieve the rows in its resulting row set. However, you can also use view objects to perform in-memory searches and sorting to avoid unnecessary trips to the database.
    The view object's query mode controls the source used to retrieve rows to populate its row set. For more details please refer: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b25947/bcadvvo005.htm
