View Objects to JSF

the tutorials i could study,
contains view objects created from entity objects/tables,
when draged to jsf pages they get fixed,
can i change the position x,y, or the order of the columns,
like palcing coluumn2 before column1, i know the runtime functionalities or sorting/filtering/moving etc,
but how to place them in coordinated wille developing?
should i study such a tutorial,
Kindly

Sure you can do this. You can even do this in a couple of ways:
1) select the tabel in the design view and open the property inspector and select the columns tab in the property inspector of the table. There you see all columns you've selected and can rearrange them using the arrows on the right hand corner
2) in Design or source view select a column, cut it using the nromal keyboard commands and past it at any other position in the table (before or after any other existing column).

  • How to view View Objects or JSF locally?

    Hi
    I am very new to ADF and Fusion Applications.
    As the JDeveloper is running too slow, I would like to know if there is any way to view the view objects and JSFF definitions locally to understand and customize the seeded objects.
    Any pointers will be useful and appreciated.
    Thanks
    Nagendra

    Hi Nagendra,
    you can certainly explode and explore the ear file contents with whatever tools you like (eg, emacs or vi or Notepad++). Creating new artifacts, while in theory possible, would be a major challenge and we certainly cannot recommend that. Instead, perhaps we can first take a look at the root cause of your question -- JDeveloper being slow: can you let us know
    - what release you are using (Fusion Apps and JDeveloper)
    - what development platform for JDeveloper (Windows, Linux?)
    - specs of your machine, especially available RAM -- highly recommended to have 8+ GB of RAM
    - which dialogs/wizards or tasks performed in JDev in particular are slow for you?
    Thanks!

  • Connecting ADF BC view object w/ param to a JSF Table?

    I'm brand new to JDev so this is probably an easy one, I'm still trying to grasp some of the concepts: I have created an application module that has one view object containing a simple parameterized query (page is a simple search form - user enters keywords - I pass keywords to database and return results.) This Data Control shows up in the Data Control Palette and I am able to associate this with a table on the JSF page. Where I'm struggling is how / where do I tell JDev to bind the query parameter? In the examples from the help files, they show in the Data Control Palette a method with parameters. My Data Control Panel just shows the application module labeled as a Data Control with no parameters? In the Application Module (where I have defined the parameterized SQL stmt), in the Client Interface menu item, there are no methods available. Do I need to create the method even if I don't want to override the default functionality? Any help appreciated.
    Also, many of the tutorial and examples look like they use the EJB/Toplink approach - are there good examples or tutorial for using ADF BC and ADF Faces?
    Thanks. BTW - this product looks awesome so far! I was using myEclipse - this product is light years ahead.

    This new 10.1.3-production JSF/ADFBC tutorial covers a lot of ground and includes an example of building the search page that you're trying to build, too :-)

    The trick is noticing that a View Object with named bind parameters includes an additional built-in operation in its "Operations" folder called ExecuteWithParams. Dropping this operation onto your page gives you the choice of creating a "Parameter Form" for your VO's bind variables. If you then drop the VO as a readonly table to the same page and run the page, you are done. :-)
    Try to do that in Eclipse in two drag-drop operations! ;-)
    It warms my heart to hear you say that about JDeveloper versus Eclipse... Really makes my day!

  • View object with bind variables on jsf page

    I have jsf page with selectoncechoice field and the list is populated with view object query.
    I would like to change the page to include another text field before the selectonechoice and add where clasue to my view object to use this field value
    so i can limit the selectonechoice list and i want the list refreshed each time where clause field values changes on the page
    Thanks

    If you make the inputText field autoSubmit=true then your valueChangeListener for the field in the backing bean can invoke the "ExecuteWithParams" operation binding after finding it from the binding container.
    If you include my EL helper class from here:
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2006/12/18/sourceForMyFavoriteElHelperClass.html
    Then your backing bean can do:
      // Find the operation binding by name using EL
      OperationBinding b = (OperationBinding)EL.get("#{bindings.ExecuteWithParams}");
      // execute the operation binding
      b.execute();

  • Pass parameter from jsf to view object query

    Hi,
    i have requirement where user id is captured when user logs in in a session bean.How do I pass this parameter to bind variable in query?
    thanks,
    Mat

    Amit's second link : Setting bind variable for a view object
    should hold answers for you.
    Ypu can also visit : http://groundside.com/blog/DuncanMills.php?title=adf_executing_code_on_page_entry_1_servi&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
    The general idea is this :
    Get the username (you mentioned portal, so after portal authenticates the user is the username available in a session scoped managed bean ? You would need to access this somehow because your query needs it., preferrably by EL)
    create am AM method to set the bind parameter to the Vo and execute it. The method is automatically exposed to the DataControl.
    Create a method binding in your page def for the method. in the parameters for the method, use the EL to get the username, eg: #{sessionScope.frameworkBean.username} (you could also create a binding for executeWithParams, but I hav'nt done this in a while and dont remember the exact process )
    Now create an executable for the method binding you created. (the executable ensure that this method is called at pageload, and set you refresh condition appropriately)
    Go to the properties

  • ADF table and ADF form on the same view object

    Hi,
    As per the ADF demos available on ADF site, I created a jsf page with 2 panels. One panel is an ADF table based on a view object. And the other panel is and ADF form based on the same view object. My requirement is that as I scroll through the records in the ADF table, the ADF Form should dynamically display the details of the record in the ADF table. My understanding is that this should be automatic. However, its not working as expected. What have I missed?

    Hi,
    Apply PPR for form that displays details.

  • Creating and Binding View Objects dynamically : Oracle Jdeveloper 11g

    Hello,
    We are trying to create and bind view objects dynamically to adf data visualization components.
    The view object is a result of multiple tables.
    We are using Oracle JDeveloper 11g Technical Preview. ( can't upgrade to TP2 or TP3 now).
    We have found this : http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2003/07/15/creatingUpdateableMultientityViewObjectDefinitionsDynamically.html on our search for the same.
    The sample application however, is in 10g , hence required migration.
    Also, it was a standalone application with the TestClient.java having a main() method.
    Our requirement is for Web Application; we use Adf+jsf .
    Guidance of any sort is very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    -Anil Golla

    Hi,
    there also exist a forum for JDeveloper 11: JDeveloper and OC4J 11g Technology Preview
    What you are trying todo is not trivial because you need to not only dynamically create the VO, you would also dynamically need to create the binding meta data for it (assuming you use ADF). Not sure if the API to modify the binding is public, so posting it on the JDeveloper 11 forum bears a glimpse of hope for an answer
    In JDeveloper 10.1.3 you can't do this

  • Question on view objects

    Hi I have couple of question both might be related.
    1. In one jsf page I have several items. They are selectInputText, InputText,Shuttle,Select one choice etc. Select input text,Select one choice and Shuttle gets populated from different view objects. For others user has to enter data. I need all entered data to go to the next page for confirmation and from confirmation page once user click confirm button data should be entered in data base.
    How do you take all the data from first page to confirmation page. I have seen SRdemo tutorial where suggestion was to create Global view Object with transient column and drop them as ADF form in first page so that in next page we can get the data from Global view object. But looking at my requirement when I bring ADF form it doesn't allow to have input items as select InputText or Shuttle.
    How do I do this?
    Second question is
    2. In one jsf page I have a table with Select Many. I want to update one of the column for selected row. So if user selects the rows and click continue I need to first go on confirmation page and show him all the selected row and then when user confirms, my custom method should go and update those rows in database with predefined value. If user doesn't selects any row I should throw a warning.
    I am using Jdev10.1.3.4.0
    thanks
    Ajay

    Hi,
    1. The ADF form that you see when dragging a collection from he data control palette to the page is a "template". You can change each attribute and input component added to teh page. Just delete the field the gets created and drag and drop the attribute of teh Collection again. Then you can choose the input item you like to have.
    2. If the rows have a primary key, you can get the PK from the selected rows and then pass them to a ExecuteWithParameters method that you can create for a VO that uses bind variables. So the bind variable could be used like select ... from ... where pk_col in (:bindVariable)

  • Programmatic View Objects + View Links

    Ive constructed some programmatic view objects to grab data from 2 custom java business services (for example: Persons and Addresses). The reasons for them being custom and separate are out of my control.
    I need to easily represent a relationship between these 2 view objects so Ive constructed a ViewLink between them. However I cant figure out exactly what ADF needs from me in terms of method implementations in my ViewObjects?
    When I drop the master data control onto a JSF via a Tree table, it looks as though its not actually filtering the detail rows. I.e. if master is a Person, and detail objects are Addresses, each Person tree node has all Addresses under it. Im assuming this is because the Address ViewObject is programmatic and so ADF doesn't know how to filter the results?
    How can I setup this ViewLink between 2 programmatic ViewObjects such that the ViewLink works like its supposed to?

    Hello,

  • Bind a new view object to same adf table at run time

    Hello,
    I have an adf table, that changes based on the type of data the user selects. For example, lets say we have a page that consists of type drop down box at the top and an ADF table at the bottom, which lists data based on the type that is selected from the drop down box. For example, lets say, I have the types (Cars, Planes, and Trains).
    Let's further say we have a view object for cars, one for Planes and one for Trains. Each VO has its own specific set of attributes associated with them, which in should be reflected in the adf table that's on the screen.
    So for example, I select Train..
    My table should contain the columns, num cabs, train type, year built
    For plane, the columns might be Num engines, plane manufacturer, size(ie. 747, 727, etc), year built
    Some type of thing with Cars , cylinders, color, model, year, etc.
    Is there a way to tell my adf table to use a specific view object(ie. Plane, train, or car) at runtime?

    You can try implementing this with dynamic components, e.g. dynamic table
    >
    ADF Dynamic and ADF Read-Only Dynamic Table: Allows you to create a
    table when the attributes returned and displayed are determined dynamically
    at runtime. This component is helpful when the attributes for the
    corresponding object are not known until runtime, or you do not wish to
    hardcode the column names in the JSF page. For more information about
    working with dynamic components, see Section 26.7, "Using a Dynamic Form
    to Determine Data to Display at Runtime."
    >
    Or you use dynamic regions and swithc the region containing the table depending on the selectOneChice. Check http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/web.1112/e16182/taskflows_regions.htm and https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/adf_dynamic_regions_switching_just

  • How to get user browser locale from view object

    Hello,
    Currently, I have a view object that's used to retrieve localized messages from data base. The resource table looks like the following:
    MSG_ID VARCHAR2,  --> specify the L10N resource reference
    LOCALE VARCHAR2, --> used to specify the user locale (browser locale)
    MESSAGE VARCHAR2  --> real message
    I'm creating a bind variable (let's say it 'RequestLocale') in this view object to specify the locale and to get the expected L10N message. Currently, the value for this bind is set as an Expression with value of 'viewObject.DBTransaction.session.locale.toString()'.
    After defining the view object (and the bind variable like above), I created a table by dragging the view object to a jsf page, and run and open the page in a web browser. It seems that the messages (specified by the locale) could be retrieved correctly. But once I change the web browser language settings to another preferred language, and refresh the page, I found that the message is still for the previous locale, and not refreshed to the locale (language/country) that's newly set in web browser.
    Am I supposed to do more thing to get the 'locale' work by using the adf view object bind variable?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    after changing the locale, can you try a re-direct of the page to see if this changes the locale. In ADF, the locale is set by the HTTP request handler in the ADF lifecycle ensuring that the locale is passed to the middle tier. So the expected change is to come from the view layer (which is why I think you need a redirect). Another option to check is to access the HttpRequestObject from the FacesContext --> External Application to check the request locale

  • How To change the ADF View Object  query where-clause at RunTime?

    I am trying to create a simple display page which will display user data (username, assoc_dist_id, assoc_agent_id, status , etc). The User data is stored in a database table and i am using an ADF Read Only table based on the View Object to display the data on the JSF page.
    However, i want to display only the users that a particular person accessing the page has the AUTH LEVEL to see. e.g. If the person accessing the page is an 'ApplicationAdministrator' then the page should display all users in the table, If its a 'DistributorAdministrator' then the page should display only users associated with that Distributor (i.e. assoc_dist_id = :p_Dist_id ) and If its an 'AgentAdministrator' , then the page should display only users associated with that Agent ( i.e. assoc_agent_id = :p_Agent_id).
    Currently my af:table component displays all the users in the table because the query for the view object is (select * from users) . However, i want to use the same viewobject and just set the where-clause at runtime with the appropriate parameter to restrict the dataset returned.
    Do anyone knows how to accomplish this ?

    David,
    See the custom method initializeDynamicVariableDefaults() in the SRViewObjectImpl.java class in the FrameworkExtentions project in the SRDemoSampleADFBC sample application. You can find out how to install the demo if you haven't already from the ADF Learning Center at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/learnadf.html
    This class is a framework extension class for view objects that adds a neat, generic feature to be able to dynamic default the value of named bind variables. You can read more about what framework extension classes are and how to use them in Chapter 25, "Advanced Business Components Techniques" of the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers, also available at the learning center above.
    It is an example of generic framework functionality that "kicks in" based on the presence of custom metadata properties on a named bind variable. See section 25.3.3 "Implementing Generic Functionality Driven by Custom Properties" in the dev guide for more details. Using this sample code, if you add a bind variable to a view object, and define a custom metadata property named "DynamicDefaultValue" on that bind variable, and set this custom metadata property to the value "CurrentUser", then that bind variable will have its value dynamically defaulted to the name of the authenticated user logged in. If instead you set this custom property to the value "UserRole", then the bind variable will be set to the comma-separated string containing the list of roles that the authenticated user is part of.
    Once you've created a framework extension class for view objects like this, you can have the view objects you create inherit this generic functionality.See section 25.1.4 "How to Base an ADF Component on a Framework Extension Class" in the dev guide for more info on this.
    By adapting a technique like this (or some idea similar that better suits your needs) you can have your view object query contain bind variables whose values automatically take on the defaults based on something in the user-session environment.

  • Possible bug when creating multiple detail view objects

    using jdev 11.1.1.0.0 to build jsf/adf applications. I wanted to report what seems like a bug in 11g. I have a parent table which has two child tables. After creating the appropriate entities, associations, views, and view links, the app module looks like this:
    MasterView
    --DetailView1
    --DetailView2
    The two detail view objects are on the same level, they are both direct children of the Master view.
    Here's what's happening:
    1) I create the master entity/view objects (MasterView)
    2) I create one of the detail entity/view objects (DetailView1).
    3) I create the association and view link to establish relationship between MasterView and DetailView1. Everything works fine.
    4) I create the entity/view objects for second detail view (DetailView2)
    5) When I attempt to create a second view link (based off an association) to establish the relationship between MasterView and DetailView2, the query clauses of the Create View Link wizard (screens 4 and 5) do not get created properly. I finish the wizard and save. Not only does this view link not get created properly, but in the process the query clauses that were defined in the first view link between MasterView and DetailView1 are wiped out. This will break any coordination between master and detail views in both the app module tester and runtime. Has anyone seen this problem?

    fyi, it looks like this issue has been resolved with jdev 11.1.1.0.2 (Update 2)

  • Insert a new row in log table when update on view object

    hi All,
    i have created approval System where i maintain log which is based on table(ApprovalLog) which contain attribute like (Agencycode,approve_status,approved_by,approved_date).
    and i have also create a view object which is based on (AgencyApproval) table. which is also contain field approval_status by default 'N'
    i create a jsf page using this view object and drag drop as adf table now i want when user change approve_status field and click on commit button then
    a new row created on to ApprovalLog table and values of column like (agencycode,approve_status,approved_by) comes from AgencyApproval table.
    How can i do this in ADF.

  • How to add row in multiple view object based on common entity object.

    Hi ,
    I have
    Jdeveloper version - 10.1.3.3.0
    Oracle Database - 11g R2
    I have a situation where i have to show data from one table in three adf tables on jsf page depending on a flag value in a column in table. For this purpose i have done the following steps
    a) Created an entity object on the database table .
    b) Created three view objects on this entity object and edited the view object's SQL and included the where clause
                       WHERE  A.USER_PERSONAL_NO = :P_USER_PERSONAL_NO AND
                           A.AUTH_TYPE = 'LF'
                       The auth_type cloumn decided in which view object the data will be shown
    Now, when i query the data from database by executing the query of these view objects the data is shown correctly in all three view objects. Till here there seems every thing ok
    Now , i have to provide the logic to add records in the adf tables for this i have provided add button in action facet of all three tables which are binded to methods in managed bean,
    when i add a record in a adf table by add button the new row which is created is shown in all three tables . I cant understand why this is happening , please help me to solve this problem.
    How can i make it possible so that the record appears only in that adf table in which the record is added.
    The method for adding record is
                Row rw = currentAM.getWfRecommAuths().createRow();
                rw.setAttribute("UserPersonalNo",this.getQuery_personal_no().getValue());
                rw.setAttribute("AuthPersonalNo","");
                rw.setAttribute("AuthType","LX");
                currentAM.getWfRecommAuths().last();
                currentAM.getWfRecommAuths().insertRow(rw);
               Please help , thanks in advance.
