Warning, could not re-open xxyy.ear

Hmm
So, I'm happily trying to implement container managed relationships. I realised that I need local interfaces not remote ones, so I changed the two or three entities .. I created local interfaces (but didn't delete the remote ones (yet)) .. there's nothing to change in the bean itself is there? .. and noticed that in Sun's deployment tool I wasn't able to change those beans to use a local interface. That leads me to think that I'd missed something somewhere.
Anyway, I tried to deploy and got a RemoteException: Error while validating XML deployment descriptors: Element "session" does not allow "ejb-ref" here.
I had a look through the descriptors, and realised I'd missed out converting one of the beans, so I created local interfaces for that too. With me so far? OK, here's the crunch.
The deploytool hung. I left it for half an hour (I've a slow m/c, running Linux), and it did nothing. So I closed it, closed the machine, and restarted.
Now it says it "could not re-open xxyy.ear". It's "Trying to set an ejb-local ref on an ejb while the ejb does not define local interfaces."
I tried to open the ear using the deploytool and it said the file is corrupt or cannot be read.
What does this sound like to you? Did I miss something while creating local interfaces? Here's a localHome:
import java.rmi.*;
import java.util.*;
import javax.ejb.*;
public interface ProductLocalHome extends javax.ejb.EJBLocalHome
     // creates and initialises a bean instance
     public ProductLocal create (String pCode, String pName, String pDescription, boolean pDeprocated, boolean pDiscontinued, ProductTypeLocal pProductType) throws CreateException;
     public ProductLocal findByPrimaryKey (String primaryKey) throws FinderException;
}Here's a local
import java.rmi.*;
import java.util.*;
import javax.ejb.*;
public interface ProductLocal extends EJBLocalObject
     // persistent fields
     public String getCode();
     public String getName();
     public String getDescription();
     public boolean getDeprocated();
     public boolean getDiscontinued();
     //public int getProductType();
     // notes say set methods aren't exposed to the public
     //public void setCode(String pCode);
     //public void setName(String pName);
     //public void setDescription(String pDescription);
     // select methods (carried over from ProductType)
     // public Collection getProducts() throws FinderException;
}See anything wrong? Would I need to change anything in the bean to use local rather than remote interfaces?
That ear file seems to be binary, is there another file with the deployment descriptors in that I can tinker with?
If I have torebuild the file, I'm not sure where to start .. with the front end or the back end.
J

Sorry, I'm not sure why that message above is so wide.
Anyway, would it work to bring back xxyy.ear from backup? Although it's a few weeks old (I knowwwww), actually my progress is pretty slow so that would be better than re-creating it from scratch. But would it work, or would I need to bring all the other files with it? If it did work on its own, it does create lots of files which seem to be sequentially numbered, would it handle finding a future number already in existence?

  • [SSIS.Pipeline] Warning: Warning: Could not open global shared memory to communicate with performance DLL

    Hi All,
    I am running an SSIS solution that runs 5 packages in sequence.  Only one package fails because of the error:
    [SSIS.Pipeline] Warning: Warning: Could not open global shared memory to communicate with performance DLL; data flow performance counters are not available.  To resolve, run this package as an administrator, or on the system's console.
    I have added myself to the performance counters group.
    I am running windows 7 with SSIS 2008.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.  I have read that some have disabled the warning, but I cannot figure out how to disable a warning.
    Thanks.
    Ivan

    Hi Ivan,
    A package would not fail due the warning itself, speaking of which means the account executing it is not privileged to load the Perf counters, and should thus be safely ignored.
    To fix visit: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2496375/en-us
    So, the package either has an error or it actually runs.

  • One of the specified disk images could not be opened

    I cannot believe how instable my system is. I switched to Mac to get a reliable system, but I cannot do without Windows entirely, hence my heavy use of VPC.
    Today I got the small grey screen "You need to restart your computer". I was running VPC at the time. All apps were closed except Windows Explorer (the file system). The cause was merely unplugging my broadband connection. Wow!
    On rebooting VPC I got:
    "One of the specified disk images could not be opened. The disk image file is not the correct file type or uses a file format that is unsupported by this version of Virtual PC."
    I "detached" my "drives" 2+3, which were pointing to my Drive2.vhdp and Drive3.vhdp data "drives" and tried again. No luck.
    Drive 1 was pointing to Disk1.vhdp, which is a part of my Windows 2000.vpc package. I don't believe that it was pointing there before the crash.
    # side note #
    (The Windows 2000.vpc package is an old installation that I don't use but have not deleted. I currently use one called: "Windows 2000 copy 1-011105") which might or might not be a copy of "Windows 2000.vpc." I've had so many problems, it's hard to say.
    I then tried and successfully detached the Disk1.vhdp and received a warning:
    "The hard drive data previously used by Drive 1 is no longer contained in this PC document. The data has been moved to a separate Virtual Hard Drive Document "Windows 2000 copy 1-011105 Disk1.vhdp".
    On examining the above package I find:
    BaseDrive.vhd 14.45GB (size about right) dated last night when I last closed VPC
    MainPackageFile Alias
    UndoDrive1.vud dated at the time of the problems.
    On examining my "Windows 2000 copy 1-011105.vpc7 I find:
    Configuration.plist
    IconCache
    MainPackageFile Alias
    StartMenu.plist
    Do you have a suggestion as to how I can rescue my above mentioned BaseDrive.vhd please? This is more recent than my last back-up.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Problem solved.

  • On startup I get a warning "Could not initialize the application' security component...", click OK Firefox starts but I cannot navigate to any URL but home.

    Click the Firefox 4 icon. A window opens with the warning:
    "Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features"
    (There are no read/write restrictions on my Applications folder and plenty of room on the hard drive.)
    Click OK and Firefox opens at the home page, but I cannot navigate to any other URL or link. I had the same behavior when I tried FireFox 3)

    First, use a specific [[Managing profiles|profile]] for Firefox 4.0 Beta and keep your current one for Firefox 3.6 to prevent interferences between both versions.
    Then, see [[Could not initialize the browser security component]].

    Welcome to the forums !
    This seems to be a known issue - pl see these MOS Docs

    9772888.8 - Bug 9772888 - "WARNING:Could not lower the asynch I/O ... It is set to -1" messages

    Pl open an SR with Support to verify if this is a cause for concern, as it is not clear from these docs whether this causes any corruption

  • Static analyzer fails on WIX custom install action project: .dll' could not be opened -- 'An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format'

    On our build system, we use the global setting to code analyze all projects. One of our projects is a C# WIX custom action. This projects causes the build to fail with:
    EACustomInstallActions.CA.dll' could not be opened -- 'An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
    The ...CA.Dll target seems to be created by a WIX custom action. Does anybody have already encountered this issue and found a workaround?

    This problem appears to be ongoing 5 years after this thread was started. I have just run into it.
    When WiX builds a custom action, the build proceeds as normal and produces a managed code output, say MyCustomActions.dll. Windows Installer doesn't support managed code in custom actions, so the managed code has to be wrapped in an unmanaged native code
    wrapper, so in a post-build step, it injects the managed output into the unmanaged wrapper and _that_ then becomes the project's build output and will be named MyCustomActions.CA.dll. I believe that Code Contracts may be trying to open the unmanaged wrapper
    file and discovering that it is not managed code ("invalid format").
    In order for CCRewrite to work here, it would need to run on the managed code _before_ it gets wrapped in the unmanaged wrapper. I am not sure how we can hook into the build process to get that to happen.
    It might be possible to somehow make a WiX Custom Action project by creating a standard C# class library, which would work correctly with CCRewrite, then somehow performing the WiX packaging as a post-build step. I'm not sure what is required though, exactly.
    Any ideas?

  • S4BB Audiobook won't work - this file could not be opened check that you have the correct permissions and try again

    I bought the french audiobook J'accuse from S4BB and it simply doesn't work.  I sought help from Blackberry and got the message that BB doesn't support 3rd party apps.  I contacted S4BB, who by the way says they have a warranty on their apps, and got the email back that "for the issues and refund you would need to contact BlackBerry as the only way you can download to the playbook is through App World we do not have access to their system."
    I have deleted the app and re-installed, uninstalled and re-installed, searched permissions (not listed there), and it simply does not work.  It says "this file could not be opened check that you have the correct permissions and try again".
    I put a warning comment on blackberry app world that the app doesn't work and that support is hard to get, and Blackberry has removed both the comment and the very low rating I have this.  I found this to be the most disturbing part.
    Is there anything I can do to either get this app to work, or get a refund on this app?
    Also, why was this comment and rating deleted - this seems to be contrary to the nature of comment sections on apps and does not do a service to your customers who may download this app which doesn't work?

    Try right clicking on the installer and select run as administrator.

  • The document "SpeechSynthesisServer.app" could not be opened because it is damaged or incomplete.

    I just upgraded from Mac OSX 10.6.8 to OSX 10.8.
    I logged into my account for the first time and had this error:
    The document “SpeechSynthesisServer.app” could not be opened because it is damaged or incomplete.
    From what I've been able to find, the SpeechSynthesisServer.app has to do with the Text-to-speech recognition.
    Initially, I was unable to get text-to-speech to work correctly.  But after I reset the key command, it worked.
    Is this something I should worry about?

    I think this bug may hit people whose user accounts have gone through a few versions of OS X AND are going directly from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. In my case my user account started out with 10.2 - so it's picked up some cruft.
    There are several items in my non-admin user Preferences:Users and Groups:User:Login Items that are not in my Admin account user including an item called SpeechSynthesisServer. It had a yellow warning triangle next to it and the data type was unrecognized.
    I removed it from Login Items, logged out, logged in, and the bug was gone.
    The LoginIn item is referencing a system app, that app is still present post upgrade:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A
    /Frameworks/SpeechSynthesis.framework/Versions/A.
    I suspect the app is still important. DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING IN SYSTEM/LIBRARY. Just leave it alone
    iTunesHelper was also on the one user's LoginItems and I removed it.
    I think there are a couple of bugs with the Login Item migration from SL to ML. For example, a disk image I mounted showed with a yellow icon too. I removed it, added it back in, and it was fine.
    Thanks jf.  That's helpful.
    I installed ML an hour or so ago, going from 10.6.8 to 10.8.2.  Having read quite a few comments I decided to take my time over this.
    ML downloaded fine. About half an hour maybe.  Installed itself then my iMac was restarted and, hey-presto, I'm back in business with a new OS.
    Bit worried that my iMac was now rather sluggish, but not overly so because some kind person had posted on the App store that his Mac speeded back up after he had restarted.  This proved the case for me too.
    Went through all the set up screen re iCloud and App store.  All the while I noticed my external backup drive was very busy too. Must be using it as temporary space I thought to myself.
    Anyway, I decided that the first thing I should do is run Software Update.  I had several items that needed updating and whilst one of them was installing, that dreaded message that all you guys are talking about popped up.  I took a screen shot for later.
    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11373233/MacDiscussions/SpeechSynth%202012-12-08%20at%2 016.05.39.png
    Not long after this my iMac's sceen turned black.  I assumed this was due to the screen saver cutting in.  It had done so about every 5 minutes during the time ML was downloading - apparently without causing a problem. I left it a while, then fired up the screen again.  Then I got a dreadful fright when a message came up full screen telling me my iMac had encountered a problem and it was having to restart!
    I decided toplay it cool and let everything play through and let the Mac restart, see what happens. Turned out I was worrying unnecessaryily, all I needed to do was run Software Update again.  I downloaded the items individually this time, not all in one go like before.  All seems okay - at the moment.
    I still don't know what this SpeechSynthesisServer.app problem is.  Text to Speech still seems to work.  I wonder if it has anything to do with the new Voice recognition that I'm itching to try out.
    Anyway, I'm leaving Voice recog alone for now until I'm more familiear with ML.
    "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING IN SYSTEM/LIBRARY."  I notice that the Library is now hidden from us. Maybe what you say is the reason why?
    By the way, I think I worked out why my iMac was sluggish when I first fired up ML.  Spotlight was rebuilding it's database!

    Hi ckary,
    Thanks for your post. It looks as if your computer is not seeing the driver
    calls and thus it gives the error saying it cannot complete that task. Does
    this happen with any other example programs you run using DAQmx? What version
    of DAQmx do you have? I would first recommend getting the latest DAQmx driver
    version, 8.7.1. You can find this at the following link below.
    Drivers and Updates
    Please post back if installing the latest driver does not
    fix the problem.

  • [SOLVED] "warning: could not find /bin/bash, starting /bin/sh instead"

    Hello all.
    I've just installed arch, despite very little knowledge of linux (i had ubuntu for a short while before this), but I like a challenge so i thought i'd throw myself in at the deep end.
    The installation went reasonably smoothly, but now i've got it up and running (with a minimal KDE install) but when I open up the konsole, I get the message
    "Warning: Could not find '/bin/bash/', starting '/bin/sh' instead. Please check your profile settings."
    and subsequently I cannot "su jake" (jake being my username, obviously). It requests my password, but when i press return I get the response
    su: /bin/bash/: Not a directory
    which means i've obviously done something wrong, but I cant make head nor tail of the archwiki on Bash, and from googling, I cant find anyone with a similar issue. I can run from root, but it's not ideal.
    Thanks for any response as to why this might be happening, and how to fix it.
