    just do as below

  • Unable to connect using sqlplus using Oracle 11.2.0.1 32bit(x86) client

    I have database running on Oracle 11.2.0.3 on Linux 5.5 64bit. Another server where I have installed Oracle Client 11.2.0.1 32-bit (x86). (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-linuxsoft-085393.html).
    But I can not do tnsping, I get segementation fault. Additionally, I can not to database using sqlplus <user>@SID. I get prompted for the password, then I am back the unix prompt again without any error.
    For debugging, I installed 64bit version of the client, which can connect to database. I am using same version/copy of tnsnames.ora. No special character (^M) in the tnsnames.ora.
    Any suggestions how do I get this fixed?
    Thanks,
    KP

    I figure I should update my findings on the resolution.
    during Oracle 11.2.0.1 client installation, there was an error/warning message about oracle net configuration assistant unable to run. So, I had ignore it thinking its benign and created the tnsnames.ora file manually. On a hunch after 9 days of debugging, i decided to look into this warning message, and found some info in the ora32Inventory/logs/installAction-<date>.log. It had following error about java when running oracle net config.
    INFO: # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (1.5.0_17-b02 mixed mode)
    INFO: # Problematic frame:
    INFO: # C [libnnz11.so+0x3c35e]
    So, I google the error, and after some research and reading, found an oracle patch to address this error:
    ORA-24550: SQL*Plus 32-Bit Client May Crash On Linux X86-64 OS With AMD Processor [ID 1120724.1]
    Patch info: 8670579 - DBBETA :NETCA/DBCA FAILED WITH HOTSPOT VIRTUAL MACHINE
    Typically, this patch (8670579) is installed on Oracle RAC. however I tried on my app server (oracle client). It resolved my sqlplus issue and more importantly it resolve my application (Business Objects/BSAE) installation issue where it was unable to connect to oracle database using 11.2.0.1 client.
    Cheers,
    KP

  • Java Connection Pooling issue with Oracle 10g Express Edition

    Hello
    I have a Java based web application that uses the Oracle 10g Express Edition database. I am using a connection pool to get connections to the database.
    I use the NetBeans IDE and run my web application on the bundled Tomcat server(5.5.7) that comes with the IDE. Though when I initially run the application from the IDE, the connection pool is set up fine, when I recompile my java code and try to run the application again, I get the following error each time:
    Listener refused the connection with the following error:
    ORA-12516, TNS:listener could not find available handler with the
    matching protocol stack.
    The logs before the error shows up, indicate that the connection pool object is fine and gives me the number of available connections and the number of active connections and so on, which I have printed from the constructor of the Connection Pool class:
    For e.g.:
    Cache size = 17
    Available Connections = 17
    Cache Limit = 1000
    Active size = 0
    However, if I kill my Tomcat server process and run the application again, it works fine with no error.
    I looked around for possible causes and solutions and all I could find
    was increasing the processes parameter value in the init.ora file. I have increased the parameter value to from 100 to 20000 now, in increments of 500/1000 each time but it hasnt worked so far.
    Someone else suggested that I increase the size of my connection pool; I initially had it set to a minimum limit of 5, an initial limit of 10 and a maximum limit of 1000. However if I set the Initial Limit to anything above 17 connections, I see the following log on the Bundled Tomcat log and my application doesn't run at all:
    Log: Loading JDBC Driver : class=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver ...
    Log: Loaded JDBC Driver
    Log: Connection with URL=jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:xe as username/password
    Error code not handled : 0
    Exception Message :java.sql.SQLException: Listener refused the connection with the following error:
    ORA-12519, TNS: no appropriate service handler found
    The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
    localhost:1521:xe
    // End of log
    And the Bundled Tomcat server automatically shuts down.
    Again the System.out statements from the Connection Pool class constructor show that the cache has been initialized and that currently there are free connections available in the pool.
    E.g.
    Cache size = 18
    Available Connections = 18
    Cache Limit = 1000
    Active size = 0
    Has anyone faced anything similar? Could someone please suggest what I'm doing wrong here and what I should do to set right this problem?
    Swetha

  • Installing SBO 2007 Error Unable to connect to database

    Trying to install SBO 2007.
    First install server tools, then sever.
    The SBO -Common database exists as per checking the SQl database.
    The install asked for the database server, database name, user name and password in which I enter this correctly.
    A message states:
    WARNING
    'Unable to connect to database;verify database server name and that database is started'.
    I am unable to proceed further.  Can any on assit please.
    Have also tried un installing SBO 2007, deleting databases and rebooting - without success.

    Dear Lisa,
    You will get this issue when you are using named/non-default instance of MS SQL Server during the installation progress
    of SAP Business One Integration Platform.
    The B1iP installation program uses default port (1433) to connect MS SQL
    Server and to create database. The named instance will use the port
    other than 1433.
    1.  Before the installation of B1iP, change the port of the named
        instance to 1433, which will be used to install B1iP.
    2.  If 1433 is being used by another application, and cannot be changed,
        the steps below is one walk-around way:
        a) Stop the instance of MS SQL Server, which is using the port 1433
        b) Change the named instance, which will be used to install B1iP, to
           1433 temporary, and remember the port to recover
        c) Install B1iP (or SAP Business One with B1iP component)
        d) After installation, stop the B1i service. Under B1i folder, in
           the Xcellerator.cfg, change 1433 to the port that B1iP DB
           instance used.
        e) Change back the ports of SQL Server.
        f) Run the service of SQL Server and B1i again.

  • Connecting form 6i  to oracle database 10G express edition

    I am unable to connect forms 6i to oracle database 10G express edition.
    form builder closes without any message.

    Hi, i was try that solution, but have some problem.
    1) I have stopped other database (Oracle 8i, OracleService + Listener), none Oracle service was running.
    2) I was install Oracle XE Univ.
    3) Run sqlplus from XE
    "D:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\BIN>sqlplus system/PASSWORD@xe as sysdba"
    4) Shutdown immediate - OK
    5) Startup mount - failed
    SQL> startup mount
    ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor
    6) I was check registry "hkey_local_machine\software\oracle" and delete key "local" (walue was set to connection to 8i database).
    7) I was checking status of Listener from XE (after shutdown).
    "Listening Endpoints Summary...
    (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=ipc)(PIPENAME=\\.\pipe\EXTPROC_FOR_XEipc)))
    (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=jacek)(PORT=1521)))

    Have anyone suggestion how to connect "directly" to XE (without @CONNECTION string) ?
    If source of problem can be having DB 8i installed on same machine ?
    BBye.

  • Warning System spameater Unable to connect to Cisco Web Security Service.; URL Filter...

    My C670 ESA's have been throwing these alerts intermittently for the past few days, anyone else seeing them?
    The Warning message is:
    Unable to connect to Cisco Web Security Service.
    URL Filtering will not work correctly.
    Please verify all network, proxy and firewall settings.
    Connection to "v2.sds.cisco.com" failed.
    The last error seen on this connection: "Request failed with code: 28 (Connection time-out)"
    Version: 8.5.6-092
    Looks like it is open on port 443 and currently up.  Hitting it with a browser gives me:
    https://v2.sds.cisco.com/
    After an error or two they go away and appear OK.
    Checking the logs I don't see a way to verify URL lookups are working, is there a way?
    Also, I setup URL filtering six months ago and had it set to only trigger on (-10)-(-9.5) and saw about an 80% false positive.  It has improved over the past six months drastically but still catching mostly advertising URLs and allowing all phishing URLs right through.  I've yet to see it block a phishing URL.
    Jason

    After lots of trial and error, I was able to eliminate this problem.  What I wound up doing is defining the XE service again in the listener.ora file:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
      (SID_LIST =
        (SID_DESC =
          (SID_NAME = XE)
          (ORACLE_HOME = C:\ProgramData\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server)
    I know that typically you should not have to do this, especially since I already had defined DEFAULT_SERIVCE_LISTENER = (XE) at the bottom of the listener.ora file.  Explicitly defining the XE service in the listener.ora file allows the listener to find it while the system is running under the Cisco AnyConnect VPN.  The only hiccup I found by doing this is that the XE service is discovered twice by the listener when the system is NOT running under the Cisco AnyConnect VPN.  It still works OK.  The listener just seems to ignore the repeated definition of the XE service (see output below):
    C:\ProgramData\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\bin>lsnrctl service
    LSNRCTL for 32-bit Windows: Version 11.2.0.2.0 - Production on 13-JUN-2013 10:03:15
    .......(omitted output).......
    Service "XE" has 2 instance(s).
      Instance "XE", status UNKNOWN, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
        Handler(s):
          "DEDICATED" established:0 refused:0
             LOCAL SERVER
      Instance "xe", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
        Handler(s):
          "DEDICATED" established:0 refused:0 state:ready
             LOCAL SERVER
    Service "XEXDB" has 1 instance(s).
      Instance "xe", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
        Handler(s):
          "D000" established:0 refused:0 current:0 max:1022 state:ready
             DISPATCHER <machine: DEV-M-137GF, pid: 5544>
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=DEV-M-137GF.paychex.com)(PORT=58257))
    The command completed successfully
    If anyone has a cleaner solution for this problem, please let me know.  Otherwise, I am moving forward with what I did.
    Thanks.....Paul

  • Problem configuring SSO: "Oracle SSO Warning - Unable to process request"

    I'm having difficulty getting a sample application to work with SSO, and I was hoping someone could point me in to the right direction.
    We've got 2 separate systems, call them ASserver and SSOserver. ASserver is running Oracle 9i AS, SSOserver is the infrastructure server (e.g. OID and SSO).
    The application runs just fine on ASserver without SSO.
    I made the change to mod_osso.conf so that the URL for the application is now protected, and added a partner application entry to the application (more on that in a moment).
    When I go to the URL for the partner application, the browser is properly redirected to the SSO server and I am prompted to log in. After logging in, I get an error page with the error "Oracle SSO Warning - Unable to process request" (the URL is something like http://<ASserver>/osso_login_success?urlc=... etc).
    Several questions:
    - can my servlet just be a plain servlet, or does it need to do the various things described in the "SSO Application Developer's Guide"?
    - when configuring the partner application on the SSO server, are success url and logout url supposed to be the osso_login_success and osso_logout_success URLs? Should they be on the ASserver or the SSOserver?
    Any other recommendations?
    Thanks,
    dwh

    Okay, solved. I am pretty sure I was suffering from the condition described in metalink Note:227221.1, "Oracle SSO Warning Logging On to Midtier Using Mozilla Based Browser" (http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showNOT?p_id=227221.1)
    although it was happening in IE as well.
    Essentially, I modified the entry for the partner application to change the port numbers from 7778 to 7777, and now it works.
    I think I also had several entries for the app server in the SSO server, and I don't know which one it was using. I got rid of all of them except the one named <oraclehome>.<restofdomain>, e.g. oas.foobar.com, where "oas" is the name of my app server's Oracle home.

    I am facing a peculiar issue while using Instant Client on Linux ( 64Bit ) running on Red Hat 4.1.
    I have downloaded the instant client version 10.2.0.3(.zip) .so files from the below URL
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/linuxx86_64soft.html
    UPloaded all the files to a directory under /opt and changed the .bash_profile file, the latest content looks like
    ORACLE_HOME=/opt/instantclient_10_2
    export ORACLE_HOME
    PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME
    export PATH
    TNS_ADMIN=/opt/instantclient_10_2

    I have used the classes12.jar and ojdbc.jar which came with the download and nothing seems to work. A bit surprising when sqlplus works and not the application. I suspect there could be an issue with the driver class. I have been struggling to figure this out for days now...
    Can anyone please share their thoughts if something similar was observed earlier please.
    Any quick help will highly be appreciated.

    ORACLE_HOME=/opt/instantclient_10_2
    export ORACLE_HOMEYou don't set ORACLE_HOME with Instant Client.
    PATH=$PATH:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export PATHThis is unnecessary.
    CLASSPATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2:/opt/instantclient_10_2/ojdbc.jar
    export CLASSPATHThis is wrong.
    It should be:
    CLASSPATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2/ojdbc14.jar:<whatever else you need there>
    Java.library.path=/opt/instantclient_10_2
    export Java.library.pathThis is useless; java.library.path is not an environment variable.
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc10 in java.library.pathThe case is pretty clear. You want to use the OCI driver (your URL starts with "jdbc:oracle:oci:"), so the Java Virtual Machine is looking for libocijdbc10.so in the Java library path but cannot find it.
    What is also clear is that the program does not use the CLASSPATH environment variable you set, because then it would never have found the Oracle Driver.
    So it seems that your program is ignoring the environment you set (which would explain why it also ignores LD_LIBRARY_PATH which you set correctly).
    You must have the environment variables set and exported in the shell that starts the "java" executable.
    Also, check that there is no other ojdbc14.jar on this machine (use "find").
    To help you debug your problem, let me explain how Sun Java sets Java library path on Linux:
    - If you start java with "java -Djava.library.path=/some/dir:/other/dir ...", the Java library path is set to exactly that value.
    - If you do not specify -Djava.library.path, the Java library path is taken from the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
    - Directories listed in /etc/ld.so.conf have no influence on the Java library path (which gave me quite a headache in the beginning).
    Do you really need the OCI Driver? If you can do with the Thin Driver (i.e., use an URL that starts with "jdbc:oracle:thin:") you don't need any shared libraries at all.

    Now the problem is , when i create a repository service i get the error
    " The service did not start due to the following error: *Unable to connect to the repository Oracle_BI_DW_Base on database* . " here Oracle_BI_DW_Base is also the name of my .rep repository that came with OBI APPS installation.
    i have oracle database 11g installed and also created respective user for repository of informatica.
    what should i do in this case??
    plz help

    Good Morning.
    I had the same problem and I had the same IE 6, the problem was the translation between the IE6 from http and https, to solve it you just need to open your url typing
    https:url:port, do no forget to put the s after the http, with this my problem was solved.
    best regards.
