Way to extract only the DDL out of an 8i Database?
Hello -
Is there a way in Oracle 8i to extract only the DDL (using a package, etc.) of a database? I know this can easily be done in 10g with Data Pump, but I have to have this done in 8i.
Thanks,
Mike
You can use export and import to generate the DDL.
exp <user>/<password> file=<file_name> owner=<schema>
imp <user>/<password> file=<file_name> indexfile=<filename>
This will generate a file that contain the ddl to create the indexes. The table ddl is included but commented out.
See the docs for more information on the INDEXFILE parameter of import.

Is there a way to extract/export the audio out of Captivate?
I have created a Captivate project that has audio narration,
but I want to edit the audio in a separate application and import
the modified audio back into the project. Can this be done? I've
already tried the obvious - copy and paste. That doesn't
work.Hi benhenny
Absolutely it can be done. And it's really pretty easy!
Click Audio > Advanced audio... and you should see the
Advanced Audio Management dialog. From here, in the lower left
corner, click the check box labeled "Show object level audio". Now
select the desired clip(s) and click the Export button on the
bottom of the dialog. You then simply choose where you want
Captivate to place the files. You should end up with two files. One
in .WAV format and the second in .MP3 format.

Please advise how to custom batch rename files with Aperture 3 in the following format: IMG_0023.cr2 to Smith_120816_0023.cr2? I cannot find a way to structure the date in Aperture as such (YYMMDD), as well as extract only the camera file (0023, for example). Adobe Bridge CS5 can do this, but NONE of the Adobe software is retina optimized, and is terrible to look at.
In Aperture you are limited to renaming files by the entries in the File Naming preset window.
At what point are you looking to rename, import or export? It might be possible to do what you are looking to do external to Aperture either via a script or other software.

i want to transfer my music from one computer to another, however a large majority of my songs are already on the new computer, is there a way to transfer only the ones not there? or to see what songs are only on the one computer
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Homesharing gives you the option of seeing only the content in the shared library, that is not already in your own library. -
How can I extract only the audio as an aiff file?
Using a Sony DSC-N2 Cybershot Camera I recorded video that was saved as “MOV01606.MPG”. The video plays back with sound in Quicktime Pro and iTunes but how can I extract only the audio as an aiff file?
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to convert your .mpg files to QuickTime formats.
QuickTime can't extract audio from muxed file formats. -
Is there a way to view only the apps I'm not using?
If I attach all my iOS devices to my computer, is there a way to view only the apps in my iTunes library that are NOT being used by any device? To make it easier to know which I'm not using, so I can delete them off my computer and free up some space?
In Settings:
General->Network->Cellular Data: Switch off. -
Is there a way to download only the HD version of a movie and not the SD version?
In order to save space and to not exceed my service provider's data limit, I'd like to know if there is a way to download only the HD version without having to download the SD version as well? Currently, I have to open the "Download" box and highlight all of the SD downloads and delete and remove them. Of course, it begins to download them the next time I open up iTunes (and yes, I have turned off and on the auto-download feature).
Any help is much appreciated.I did get an answer to this question from the rep at my local Verizon store. I just wanted to provide the answer in case someone else has the same question.
While in the email you wish to reply to, press the white envelope shape on the upper right corner of the screen. This will open up as the reply to the sender. If you press the word "reply" in the upper left had corner (of this window) a drop down box will appear with more options. Reply, reply all and forward. Hope that helps. -
I have moved to the country where my internet speed is slow. I am running some auto updates that keep timing out half way through. Can the time out be shut off to complete the update?

I'm not sure about that. But what you could try is to set the Update Preference to "Manual" and try updating at a time when the Network may not be as busy, like late at night or early in the morning.
Just an idea. -
What is the Best way to extract a subset of data from a Production database
Hi,
One of our cleint want to to extract a subset of data from a Production databases in order to build a dev or test database. Since it is a banking sector they do not want to clone the db.
Can anybdoy suggests any tool or any info

ManojDataBee is one option. Depending on circumstances, you may also want their DataMasker utility in addition...
Of course, depending on your particular system and your particular requirements, this sort of thing can rather quickly get quite complicated since you may need very particular types of subsets of data...

Hi, I am in the process of migrating from Outlook Express 6 to Thunderbird. Thunderbird made the migration very easy, a click of an "Outlook Express" radio box selection for import. But then I made it hard on myself by deciding I wanted to fix an OE .dbx folder-file (make it importable, previously not imported likely because it was marked "read only" and then re-import. I started to re-import OE into TB but then got nervous when I saw everything was importing, not a single dbx folder-file I wanted to fix. I clicked "Cancel" in TB, and then, when I later opened TB, noticed that my Address Book now is empty. It was definitely full before. Any ideas how to import strictly my contacts again? I am thinking of importing my entire OE data again if the answer to that post is that the re-import will not result in double OE line items. If I re-import all of OE, my Address Book should reappear, too, right?
Oops, I found the answer to my question. Great knowledge base! I had originally imported via the automatic popup dialog box that appeared when I installed TB, and didn't absorb at the time that there would be a way to do an import later, after TB install, too, and even for specific parts of OE (address book vs. mail messages, etc.).
I pasted the link to the "Migrate to Thunderbird" page that includes how to migrate just an Address Book from OE, but the following is all that pastes in: 9723729938
I have typed out the link here:

Is there a way to backup only the Originals folder to DVD?
I've really messed up the file names of my photos in several ways: by mistakenly changing a camera setting, importing some from different cameras, and editing and saving the edited versions (elsewhere, TG, not in iphoto), thereby replacing/rewriting some of my edited photos.
However, I think all the originals, or copies of them, are in the iphoto originals folder. I'd like to save/store/archive all of them to DVD(s) that I can store elsewhere, and then delete the library - with the exception of a few favorites - and start over. When I tried to burn the library to a disk, it didn't give me the option of using multiple disks because of the size (@20G), I just got a msg stating the disk was too small. Is there a way to burn the Originals folder only?
thanks,
MelissaHow does one "right-click" on a Mac?
How does one "duplicate"? ("command C"?).
Assuming that I can then find this copy, how do I split into smaller folders? (Highlight a portion of library and then create a smaller folder?- or is there another way?). Does this allow me to split using my Events categories and keep that structure in the smaller folders on the DVDs?
I have backed-up everything including iPhoto onto 2 different types of external drives (a third drive - a LaCie has me stumped) and am now trying to figure out how to backup iPhoto onto DVDs. The instructions I have found say to go to Finder; create a Burn Folder; then Burn. This creates a file that can be read by both Macs and PCs. I have 66 GB of photos so I need to break up iPhoto into smaller chunks for burning to DVDs - therefore, your post is of interest to me.
Sorry for the simple questions but after nearly 3 years using a MacBook, I am still trying to figure out the "cleverness" in its operation. -
Extract only the records exist in Table A but not in Table B
Hi guru, I need to compare two big SAP tables and only select the records that exist in Table A but not in Table B, i.e. Exclude the records that exist in both tables. Due to the volume, left outer join is not preferred. Does anybody know any smart and quick way to do so?
Thanks,Sounds like you're looking for alternatives from performance perspective, so maybe your question would be better posed in .
As always for any performance related questions the answer is: It depends...
I.e. you need to provide some further background: How many entries in table A, how many in table B? How are they linked (e.g. index, primary key, what fields)? On average, how many entries do you expect in your result set?
Depending on those parameters (and possibly others) one can then evaluate other options: There's probably not many, I'd try also using [subqueries|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABENWHERE_LOGEXP_SUBQUERY.htm]. Since performance tuning always requires an analysis, it's best to try out the different variations and check what happens (e.g. how long do they run, what kind of load do they introduce on the database, etc.). Subquery versus outer join performance depends also on the used database.

Any way to publish only the changed files?
I'm uploading my Iweb site to my own domain using Dreamweaver, and I'm wondering if there is a way to only publish the changed files on my Iweb site?
It takes FOREVER to publish my site, and Iweb's folder structure is a complete mess so its nearly impossible to find the changes files.
Ideas, thoughts?
thanks,
Brown.RecluseJeff,
You are on the right track, definitely.
What I'm confused about is I guess which files I need to republish.
Remember, you have to let iWeb rewrite the entire html each time you make changes to it. That means all files, i.e., the entire site has to be republished by the application, at the very least to a folder, in order for you to have access to any of the files--most importantly, the ones you have changed/updated.
Here's the thing to understand; a lot of times, updating a site means changing only a file or two. Most of the time, the file you made changes to, (or the Page, even) will retain the same name. Regardless of what is in the file/page, it is still called up/indexed by it's name. So if you update a file/page/etc., swapping out the updated file/page involves simply exchanging the correct file(s), one with another, identified by their names.
Now let's take the example you have posted. You have correctly identified the Sites files in a typical iWeb-created folder structure. In the Blog, (which is what this site basically is--a blog updated by yourself) you should see a folder structure like this:
Now, there's a ton of stuff in a Blog. So when you update your blog, nevermind trying to parse out the files held within it; just swap out the entire Blog folder.
So in other words, let's say you just updated your Blog, and all you want to do is just upload the Blog updates without uploading the entire site. You have made the changes in iWeb (i.e., created a new Blog entry); now you need the html for these changes. File/Publish to a Folder.... Open the Site folder you published to--you will see the same file structure pictured above. Delete the Blog folder in the local file for Dreamweaver, and then drag the newly published Blog folder into it's place. As I said in my previous post, when you open the Files window in the Dreamweaver app, click the refresh button and the new Blog folder will be in place, locally, for upload. Highlight the folder and click the blue "Put" arrow (upload) button.
Your Blog updates, and only your Blog updates, will be uploaded to your server. They will overwrite the existing Blog folder on the server, with all of it's contents, and your Site/Blog is now updated.
Same thing applies for your Home page, or any page. Whatever page you make changes to, those are the Page_files and page.html that you want to exchange on the server. (The Blog.html is within the main Blog folder). -
In the artists list, the 'cloud' icon only disappears when all of that artists albums have been downloaded, so that isn't an easy way to tell. Is there a method to view just the bands/albums/songs that I have downloaded? Thank you for any assistance that is available.
There is an option in Settings --> Music --> Show All Music. If it is ON, all your music will show. If you turn it OFF, it will show only music on your phone.

Is there a way to sync only the calendar with the new control panel?
I did the iCloud control panel update on my work machines this morning and it looks like it will only sync the calendar with outlook if you let it sync your contacts and tasks as well. The main reason I use iCloud is to sync my work meetings/events between my work PC and my phone. It liked the way it worked before, but now the user has less control over what it syncs. Is there a way to sync the calendar only?
Also, it's made outlook quit unexpectedly on both machines, but I assume they'll have bug fixes eventually. I'm running one machine with Office 2007 and one with 2010.The iCloud Control Panel 2.0, just release with iOS 6, forces users to upload Outlook contacts to iCloud in order to sync calendar and reminders with iPhone. This is unacceptable to me. Because of this and bugs in the Outlook/iCloud plugin, I have discontinued use of iCloud and will sync my iPhone with Outlook using itunes. I will have to forego using Outlook task syncing with iPhone reminders because iTunes doesn't sync them, which is unfortunate.
