WAY TO IMPORT DATA FROM 11G DATABASE TO 10G DATABASE?

Hi All,
I have a requirement to take an full export dump of an Oracle database and import it fully to a 10g database.
I have never touched 11G until now and would like to know whether the 11G expdp will be downward
compatible so that I can use the dump file(created by 11G expdp) to import it to 10G(using 10d impdp).
Or if it is not possible, can you please brief me the steps I should follow here?
Note: I have only 11G installed in this server.
Regards
Satish

Oracle's Data Pump (expdp) utility has a VERSION parameter. Here is an excerpt from the documentation:
VERSION
Default: COMPATIBLE
Purpose
Specifies the version of database objects to be exported. This can be used to create a dump file set that is compatible with a previous release of Oracle Database. Note that this does not mean that Data Pump Export can be used with versions of Oracle Database prior to 10.1. Data Pump Export only works with Oracle Database 10g release 1 (10.1) or later. The VERSION parameter simply allows you to identify the version of the objects being exported.
Syntax and Description
VERSION={COMPATIBLE | LATEST | version_string}
The legal values for the VERSION parameter are as follows:
    * COMPATIBLE - This is the default value. The version of the metadata corresponds to the database compatibility level. Database compatibility must be set to 9.2 or higher.
    * LATEST - The version of the metadata corresponds to the database version.
    * version_string - A specific database version (for example, 11.1.0). In Oracle Database 11g, this value cannot be lower than 9.2.
Database objects or attributes that are incompatible with the specified version will not be exported. For example, tables containing new datatypes that are not supported in the specified version will not be exported.
Here is a link to the documentation.
Hope this helps!

  • Different ways to Transfer data from one database to another database

    Hi all,
What are the ways to transfer data from one database to another database. With the following options, i Can transfer data as far as i know. Please
correct me if i am wrong or tell me if there is any other options are available.
    1) Create database link/connection string and using this string and COPY command, we can transfer data.
    2) By using Export and Import utilities.
I told first one to my interviewer, he told, its strange, by using, COPY command also can we transfer data ? As far as i know, we can transfer data. Am i right ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pal

transfer data from one database to another database. You mean store the data of one to another?
    1) Create database link/connection string and using this string and COPY command, we can transfer data.every SELECT on a DB-link is transfering data. And you can have all kind of transfers and store on the e.g CTAS of materialized views or.... the SQL*PLUS COPY :
The COPY command is not being enhanced to handle datatypes or features introduced with, or after Oracle8i. The COPY command is likely to be made obsolete in a future release.
But there are many others. Check for ORACLE Streams, and the "COPY" your interviewer was mentioning is about the operating file system COPY right? That's transportable tablespaces.

  • Is there a way to import data from excel -when one of the columns in excel is hyperlink column?

Is there a way to import data from excel  - so if a column is hyperlink - the whole data will move to the list (text + link of the hyperlink column)?
    keren tsur

    Hi,
According to your description, you want to export excel which contains a hyperlink column to SharePoint list.
    Refer to the following steps:
Open the Excel, insert/create the table.
Now click on any cell of table and go to the ‘Design Tools’.
Click on the Export and then ‘Export table to SharePoint List’.
You will see a popup where you need to provide the URL of SharePoint site, list name and description.
Then click on next, On the next screen you will see columns with data types which are going to create in SharePoint list.
Now click finish and wait until the operation gets finished. You will see that list gets created in SharePoint site with the records.
Here are two links, you can use as a reference:

Acrobat used to have its own database connector on Windows (ADBC) but it was removed in version X. You have two options to connect to a live database that publishes itself through the Windows ODBC system:
Create the form using LiveCycle Designer (shipped with Acrobat X Pro, but now a separate product). XFA forms created this way have inbuilt database connection features and will work in Adobe Reader too.
Use the SOAP object in Acrobat JavaScript - but this will not work in Adobe Reader unless you apply permissions using LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server.

  • Best way to Import Data from a SQL Server Table?

    Hi,
Firstly thanks for looking at this question.
We need to import data into SAP BPC 5.1 on a twice daily basis and have chosen not to export to a .CSV file but instead to hold all data in a SQL table and import it directly from there.  As part of the import we wish to run the default logic, however only over the data which is imported as opposed to having to running default logic over the entire database after every import.
We did some research on this topic and the only thing we could find that would work as described above is using the "Import SQL" package.  However we keep experiencing problems with it and have not yet been able to run it successfully; the errors it gives are not consistent from run to run which makes it difficult to start a thread, though we are getting help from the helpdesk at the moment.
My question here though is - is there another way that someone knows of to import data into SAP BPC from a SQL table, and being able to run default logic over just the data being imported, or is our only hope getting the "Import SQL" package working?
    Any help much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Iain
Forgot to mention details of our environment:
    SAP BPC v5.0.495, 2 server environment -
Server 1 (DB/AS/SSIS/File server) = 64bit Windows 2k3 server with 64bit SQL Server Enterprise Edition
    Server 2 (IIS/App server) = 32bit Windows 2k3 server

    Lain,
I recently created SSIS packages that need to work with a staging table that does all kind of manipulations of that data before it is loading into SAP BPC, because it also has to load the data in the drillthrough table within the same package. From one point in my package the data is also in a SQL table so basically the same as in your situation. This also works with an export to CSV within the DTSX file like Alwin said, because in this case you can use the standard transformation and conversion stuff during the load.
I also needed to limit the data region for logic to the data region that is in the load for currency conversion purposes. This is not very much of a problem. I had a situation where I have an Accounts receivable cube containing a daily time dimension for keyduedates and a datasrc dimension containing weeks. Every week has a complete overview of the open AR items in that week and need to be converted for that week (datasrc) only and not for the whole database every time we load. But by default data would be converted based on the Keyduedates dimension while I wanted the Week dimension to be used as the data region. I solved it by using these rows in the logic:
    *Scope_by=version,Weeks
    *xdim_memberset weeks=%weeks_set%
    *xdim_memberset version = %version_set%
I can send you the SSIS package and logic if you want. Just send me your details then.

  • How is the best way to send data from local database into remote database ?

    Hi all,
I need to send data from local Oracle database into remote oracle database. Both sites connected via 128 kbps frame relay connection.
The sending need to be done once a week, can be done nightly.
How is the best way to do this ?
    Thank you very much,
    xtanto

How is the best way to do this ?How much are you planning to send?
You can use COPY command. Ensure that you have valid database link between two databases.
    Available options are:
create - creates a new table. errors out if the destination table exists.
replace - drop the destination table and re-creates with data.
insert - inserts data if the destination table exists.
append– appends data into an existing table.
use set arraysize 5000 -The arraysize specifies the number of rows that SQL*Plus will retrieve from the database at one time.
    copy from scott/tiger@ORCL to scott/tiger@ORCL92 create new_emp using select * from emp;

  • Is there a way to import data from a specific text field in a PDF form directly into a text field in a different PDF?

I know you can import form data from an .fdf file. Is there a way to import a specific value from that .fdf file into a text field in a separate pdf form?

So I want the FDF to export every time the user saves or closes the PDF. Then I want the import to happen every time the user opens the PDF. That being said, this all has to work with Adobe Reader. If this is possible in anyway, I'd manage this would require some time of script. Any thoughts?

  • Best way to sync data from temp database back to primary one?

    Hello all!!
I'm trying to figure the best way to remedy this situation.
I have a RAC cluster...and one instance went down...some problems with all nodes running, etc. Anyway, while working with Oracle support, I was able to get one node up with sqlplus, and I ran a datapump export, and move that file to a test server I have...as that this was the quickest solution, and I was able to get my developers up and running again on the new server.
I've been working with Oracle support for weeks now...and now all instances on the main RAC cluster all seem to be up and running now.
The trouble is...the instance that was 'moved' to the test server...has had a LOT of work on it in many of the schemas it contains. I need to move the developers back to the main unit where backups are taken and more horsepower for load testing, etc.
What is the best way for me to sync the main server up with the changes made in these weeks on the test server.
Would it be best to take a datapump export from the test box.....move it over to the main server, and basically then....truncate all non-system schemas and just import from the test server (with changes) back onto the main server?
    Any other suggestions?
    Thank you in advance,
    cayenne
ps. Both main and test servers are same version of Oracle 11Gr2 RAC. No rman backups currently being taken on test server, not in archive log mode on test server.

New code/stored procedures/triggers/metadata?

  • Most efficient way to import data from Excel to InDesign?

    Hi all,
I'm designing a college prospectus which includes 400+ course listings. At the moment, these listings exist as a vast Excel sheet with fields like course type, course code, description etc.
I'm familiar with importing Excel data into InDesign and formatting tables/creating table styles and such, but the problem I'm having is that the data is in multiple columns per course in the Excel sheet, but will be arranged in one column per course with multiple rows in the InDesign document. I can't seem to find a way to easily convert these columns into rows.
Can anyone help me with an efficient way to get the data into the layout without laborious copying and pasting or formatting?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi Chennie,
    Thank you for the post.
Does the issue persists after you use the "Write a query to specify the data to transfer" option instead of “Copy data from one or more tables or views” option? If so, the issue may occur due to incorrect data type matching between the FastObjects database
data types and SSIS data types. In this condition, I don’t think it is necessary to upgrade the SQL Server version. Since you can open the Column Mappings dialog box, please try to modify the data type mapping manually.
In addition, the issue seems to be the same as the issue described in the following blog:

If you're moving data from 10G to 9i, using EXP/IMP, I would try using the 9i EXP to create the dumpfile with data from the 10G database, and then using the 9i IMP to import that dumpfile into the 9i database.
Sounds like you have been using the 10G EXP and IMP in both cases.

is there a way to import data from a deployed php5/mysql application to office 365 ??

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to migrate your php application to SharePoint Online.
For your issue, you can try to convert your php application to asp.net application, and
migrate asp.net application to Office 365.
For more information, you can have a look at the blogs:
