Web gallery design for editing in Contribute?

Hello all, (cross posted on the admin forum)
I am designing a site for a client who wants photo galleries
(with
thumbnails to click for enlargements) on parts of the site.
Does anyone
know of any way to do that so that she will be able to change
the images
herself using Contribute? As this involves behaviours in
layers (hidden
portions) I am not sure how this could be done.
She did this on an old site she had using frames, which we
are now going
to do away with.
Any ideas anyone?
Many thanks
Ellie

This is possible. You have use javascript/php or any other
script language to create a gallerie that displays images from a
folder without having to know the names/numbers of the images. If
you can't write this your self, scripts like this are avialable on
the internet (possibly with on the fly thumbnail creation).
Your user can upload new images into the folder by taking
these steps:
1. in the menu go to: File, Publish file from my computer
2. Select the file and publish it to the images folder where
the images for the slideshow are.
To delete a file (make sure the user has the proper rights to
delete files):
1. Next to the address-bar click the Choose button
2. Browse to the images folder, select the image and open the
image
3. In the menu go to: Fila, Actions, Delete the file

Is there a way to create my own web gallery template for bridge?
I want to add custom data that is not in any of the templates.
Pretty much, I'd like to create one from scratch...

This was discontinuted in CS5 howerver you could migrate that plugin to CS5.  I don`t know if you can do this with CS6.
To my knowledge they only provided a revised Contact sheet II script for CS6. In my opinion a very bad idea because they should have put all efforts and resources to enhance the Output Module PDF contact sheet that has far more options.
Still not using web galleries but the goal for web gallery was also to use this in the Adobe Output Module, maybe that provides you the options you want?

  • Error message - image exceeds size save for web was designed for

When I try to Save to Web in Illustrator CS3, I get the following error message: "the image exceeds the size save for web was designed for". Even when I click that I want to go ahead and save it, it sends another error that reads "could not complete this operation. the rasterized image exceeded the maximum bounds for Save for Web".
Earlier in the day yesterday, I saved for web with no issue. NOw, it doesn't matter how small my design is, it is giving this error.
    Please advise.

    > So in CS3 Save for Web grabs the Artboard, neither the artwork nor the Crop Area/Marks area?
Creating a new document using "Basic RGB Document" and then "Save for Web & Devices" crops either to the artboard or to the artwork as selected from the "image size" tab in the save-for-web window.
If your artwork extends beyond the artboard, selecting "clip to artboard" will obviously eliminate everything outside the artboard. Unchecking it will crop the image to the artwork in the file (and thankfully not any artwork that is hidden).
If you make crop marks in the file, you can choose to either clip to the artboard or not. Not will clip to the crop marks, acting as kind of a secondary artboard.
    ETA:
You can choose which type of on-screen file type you want your output to be. From GIF, JPG, PNG-8, PNG-24, SWF, SVG, and WBMP. And whether or not you want transparency in those formats that support it.

  • Web gallery questions for 3.0

I can't figure out how to upload a gallery to my web site. I hit the upload button, I have my password and username in there. I'm not sure, but I think to get it to the right place on my gallery, I have to do the custom settings, and put it in a sub folder.
Prior to this, I've been putting my galleries up on my site with Dreamweaver CS, where I have a page called "My Pictures". People can scroll through there, find their event, click on it, and see the photos. For me to achieve that, I put the gallery into a web on my computer, in a folder called "galleries". Then I would use Dreamweaver CS with the "My Pictures.htm" page, to post the event name, then drag the target to the proper gallery,
So it only stood to reason, that within Lightroom, I would put my web site's address, without the www. in front of it, as I would in Dreamweaver, followed by /www/folder.
No matter what I do, or variation I've tried, even without all that, and trying to load the gallery to simply my web site, it keeps coming up with "An error occured sending the file. Access was denied". I know the web has plenty of space available, so that's not the problem. Any suggestions? I'm using the proper name and password.
The 2nd problem, is that I can't even save the gallery, to the folder on my computer! This is a back up, in case I can't upload the gallery via Lightroom. I tried to use "export", the tab next to "upload", and it won't do a thing. I aim it to the right folder and hit save, but nothing happens. If I go to the drop down list under "File" on the top left of the screen and hit export, it will simply save the photos to my web in full 8x10 images, but it won't save it as a functional web gallery, with web sized photos and thumbnails. Only as photos, that's it. If I can save it to the web on my computer, as a web gallery, then I can upload it using Dreamweaver CS.
What is going on???? Why won't anything work???

Anthony, I was excited to see this simple answer. But I cannot find the icon with the "T" in it to which you refer. I have a web gallery published. I would love to show caption and keywords. But I can't seem to do that. And on the gallery page, once you click on an image, and then Info, then you get to see the caption along with all the iptc info which I don't need to show.
Just above my viewer window in aperture are only the standard icons like inspector, import, new, email, view, full screen, etc. I can see the web gallery settings but there doesn't seem to be this kind of control in there.

  • How can I use web service call for edit a report with SSRS in Java Struts2 web application

Hello im new in SSRS technologie and I would like make web service call at my SSRS server. Is sombody can help me ?
    - What API should I import in my project ? I use Maven can I found this API on Maven repository ?
    - I would like have an sample of code which initialize the ReportingService, do the call and process result.
We use the SQL Server ReportingService 2008 R2 and currently we made HTTP call like this : http://<ssr_server>/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fSSRS_OMB%2fMyReport&rs:Command=Render&MyParam=<value>
    Regards

    Hi ombinte,
SQL Server Reporting Services provides access to the full functionality of the report server through the Report Server Web service. Because the Report Server Web service is an XML Web service which uses Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) over Hypertext Transfer
Protocol (HTTP), any SOAP-aware application or development tool can communicate with the SSRS web service.
There are three primary ways to develop Reporting Services applications based on the Web service, please see:
Develop applications using Microsoft Visual Studio and the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK.
Develop applications using the rs utility (RS.exe), the Reporting Services script environment.
Develop applications using any SOAP-enabled set of development tools.
For more information about Report Server Web Service, you can refer to the following document:

    Hope this helps.

  • Original size in web-gallery

When I send my photoes to my webgallery they change in size.
Is there a way where I can keep the large files in the web-gallery? My friens want to be able to print the photoes..

It appears that if a photo's dimensions are larger than 3054 pixels in the maximum dimension it will be resized down to that size when uploaded to a web gallery. For photos with sizes smaller than that the only change is in the file size which is equivalent to Photoshop saving it at a jpg quality level of 8 or 8 out of 12. It would still print OK for all but the very large prints.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Image quality bad in Web Gallery

I used the .Mac web gallery feature for the first time yesterday with images that I had edited in Lightroom and then exported to iPhoto for upload, I chose the jpeg compression at highest quality (they were RAW files taken with my Canon 40D) and saved as sRGB optimized for the web. The thumbnails look fine, but the images look absolutely horrible full screen...focus looks blurry and artifacts in some of the shots. Granted, I'm viewing on my 24" screen and it does look better on my other half's 13" MacBook, but still...the image quality should not suffer like this. I can't believe Apple would release a product the renders such poor quality photos.
Is there something that I'm missing here? Is anyone else noticing this with their web galleries?

    Dave:
You can replace the 800 x 600 files with your full sized image files. But it would be a manual operation. Each photo in an web gallery has it's own folder with several versions of the file in it. They are located in the iDisk/Sites/Web/_gallery folder. The file titled web.jpg is used for the slideshow. If you replace it with the original file that's been renamed web.jpg, it will be the one used to display in the slideshow.
HOWEVER, the full sized image file takes a very long time to load when playing the slideshow. If you do that you should use an image resizing application like Resize! to reduce the file size by selecting a higher jpeg compression ( lower quality level) while keeping the pixel dimensions the same. With a 60% quality level and keeping the pixel dimensions the same I reduced a 2816 x 2112 pixel, 2.11 MB image file to 695 KB. The 2.1 MB file took 6 seconds to load, the 695 took 2 seconds and the iPhoto produced file were nearly instantaneous. Resizing down wot 1200 x 900 at 60% reduced the size down to 132 KB, much more manageable for loading and rendering online.
So you would have to test to see what pixel dimension and quality level would work best for you. But keep in mind that you'd have to manually change each file, rename it to web.jpg and copy up to the iDisk.

  • IPhone problem with iPhoto 08 and Web Gallery 08

I have created web photo galleries in iPhoto 08. Then I have opened iWeb08 and created a page an added a web gallery widget for each of the galleries on this page, everything works fine. Now I fire up the iPhone and go to my iWeb page where the widgets are located.
The problem is the web gallery widget appears on the iPhone screen as a blue cube with a question mark on two sides and some round grey circles on top. I can not access the galleries from iPhone. Are these cubes a representation for some program that the iPhone can't open? Any help is appreciated.

I'd post your question in the iPhone forum because it seems to be an iPhone issue rather than an iPhoto one.

  • Help implementing Web Gallery into Flash Site.

Ive created a flash site through a tutorial, but I prefer adobe's web gallery design. I created one through adobe bridge but when I navigate to the photo section where I added it, it takes over the screen and prevents me from navigating away from it. I was curious if it were possible to restrict its size, im also all ears for any other suggestions.

I am not familiar with what PS CS2 creates, but you should
check whatever publish settings there are for that feature to make
sure that any file protection features are not enabled. That may be
    the source of the problem.

  • Default view in Web Gallery?

Is there any way to set the default view in a web gallery? For instance, when someone goes to the site, can you have it default to come up in "carousel view"?
    As always, thanks in advance.

I don't think that there is any option to set the default view in the web album. If anyone has found an option to do this, then I will like to know as well.
Quite a lot of the settings in web album seams to be "hard coded" and only a few settings are available for users to control.

  • XSL, XML, and Metadata Names in Web Gallery Templates

I don't know exactly how to ask the question, but what I want to do is customize the information that appears below a full-size image in an HTML web gallery. For the existing HTML gallery templates, this is the area where "caption" data is placed. You can display just about anything you want there, but you are essentially limited to a single line with no ability to format spacing. I would like to be able to show mutiple lines and format the way I want, which would be pretty easy in HTML.
I have created a custom web gallery, and I have learned where in the transformer.xslt file the caption information is placed. However, I do not know what the metadata field names are, or more importantly how to place them in HTML. Does anyone here know enough about XSL to give me hand? Any kind of direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Try John Nack's blog
there was some initial info there.

  • Another NEW Flash Web Gallery Template!

    Hey Guys,
I just finished a cool new web gallery template for Lightroom. This one allows you to select multiple images and give them a category name. The template will then separate the images out into different galleries/categories. From the template you can view all the images or just images in a particular gallery/category.
Its really cool! Check out the gallery sample i have on http://www.lightroomgalleries.com
Hope you all like the template! And let me know if you have comments, suggestions, or if you run into any problems.

Very nice. Thanks for posting. It is great to stat to see some real veriety out there for Web Templates for LR.
