Web gallery image setting control

Develop settings persist in slideshow, but web galleries seem to have had the settings changed considerably. Has anyone else seen the not-at-all-subtly increased brightness (gamma change?) on web gallery exported images? Is there a way to configure LR to not do this, or to set export preferences other than size and compression quality? Workarounds, if not? Other gallery software recommended (LR exports work fine for me, just not through the web gallery)?
My experience is on an Intel Duo iMac 10.4.10. (And staying there until Adobe releases LR for 10.5.)
I have searched the forum for previous discussions on the topic. I did not find anything relevant. Apologies if I missed something.
Thanks for any wisdom!

Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you got an answer to this question. I am desperately trying to figure out how to post my pictures in their ORIGINAL SIZE to my web gallery.
Thanks!

  • Flash Web Gallery Slide Speed Control?

Using LR 1.1 I put together (in the web module) and ftp'd to my web server a number of images of a dog show, as a slide show. I used the basic flash gallery template that comes with LR to do this.
It works just fine for me but some of the viewers have asked for the ability to speed up or slow down the slides. Does LR have the ability to allow viewers to do that?
Or on a more basic level, can I adjust the timing of the changes before I upload the gallery?
I believe there is a speed control when creating a .pdf slide show but I can't find one in the web module.
You can see the show (if you really like dog shows, or just want to see what I am talking about) at http://bobbaron.com/OKCClassic2007BW/index.html

One more Question: In the downloadable templates there is Web Gallery 3: In the Samplefile the thumbnails are all rotated a litte, how is that done?

  • Web Gallery Images Don't Show Up On Web

I am very new to Lightroom, but have been using Dreamweaver and Photoshop for quite a while now. I took about 10 pictures that I wanted to be on a test web gallery, brought them into Lightroom as their own collection, selected them all and went to the Web tab at the top, HTML Gallery was selected by default and I left everything else at the defualt, just to see what I could get working. I then went to Export, and it export to a folder called 'gallery' on my desktop. I then went to the 'gallery' folder on my desktop, and inside there was a file called 'index.html'. I opened it, and the gallery loaded perfectly with all of the images showing.
Then, I selected the gallery folder and opened my FTP client, and uploaded the entire folder to my web server, whose domain is, let's say, test.com. I then went to test.com/gallery, and the gallery loaded but without any of the pictures. The outlines of the cells are fine, the defualt text all came up, but in every cell where an image should be, there is a little image missing icon in the top-left corner. This is the same in all browsers, and I have tried using the different kinds of galleries (Flash, etc.) but they all have the same sort of problem. The flash gallery specifically just says 'Loading' and hangs there, even though when running off of my desktop it works just fine.
In addition, I have tried configuring Lightroom's built-in FTP uploader to upload directly instead of exporting and then uploading, but that had the same results.
I have attached a picture which will show the difference between when it is on my desktop and when it is on the web.
Is there something I'm missing? Is there a file I'm supposed to rename for when it goes onto the web? I made sure that none of the folders I had the pictures in, none of the collections, and none of the names of the pictures themselves had spaces or punctuation so that it wouldn't mess up any coding that Lightroom would try to automate. I'm not familiar with the Lightroom settings and would really appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

Well, I re-read what was said in that forum and made those changes. I'm not quite sure what the SDK was for in this case, I just went to the folder, right clicked, and opened the files I needed to edit with Notepad. Then I edited, saved, re-opened Lightroom, re-exported, re-uploaded, and...drumroll...it worked perfectly.
Thank you all very much for your help. I had been using the Trial version of Lightroom, but after reviewing all of the other features and, finally, getting the web gallery feature to work just fine, I think I'm going to purchase it!
I'm going to send in a feature request through the little option on the side of this Forum page, and request that either those options be used by default (I just had my friend upload them to his Unix server and it worked fine on his), or that there should be an option to choose what type of server you're using. I don't think a user should have to edit program files, especially for something so simplistic. Thanks again.

  • Web gallery images not showing in Firefox

I have just created a web gallery in Adobe Bridge CS4.  I had it working perfectly in all browsers and now all of a sudden the images are not showing up in Firefox. Anyone else have this problem?

If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains.
*Press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the hidden Menu bar.
Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images
*Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
*If an image in the list is grayed and "<i>Block Images from...</i>" has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain.
Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, the <b>permissions.default.image</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page should be 1.
Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
*Edit > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

There are extensions like Adblock Plus (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images and other content.

  • Missing Metadata in Web Gallery images exported from Aperture.

Images that I export directly to my .mac web gallery from aperture do not show any meta data on their info pages. In aperture the images have all meta data.
I have checked all the presets and all include metadata. There is no specific preset for web gallery I notice.
    Has anyone else solved this?

I want to change all the metatdata in groups to copywrighted. I can not seem to do this. There could be a checkbox on or off when importing. This would be perfect for bringing in older copywrighted archives.

  • .mac web gallery images from iPhoto

Is any one having this problem? When you create a web gallery from an Event in iPhoto and you go to the My Gallery section each gallery of photos does not have an image, it is just gray with a gray image. It is suppose to have an image from the gallery and when you scroll over it you see all the images. It is not working for me?
    Any ideas?
    Donje

When you move the cursor over the gallery it should show the various files located insdie, i.e. skimming. What happens when you click on one of the galleries? Does it open and display properly? Do you only have one gallery? Try creating a second test gallery of a couple of photos and try again.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Rebuild/Redownload Web Gallery Images into iPhoto?

I have a web gallery that has 312 pictures, but I maybe only see about 50 of them within iPhoto. Is there a way I can get iPhoto to download those pictures again from the iDisk gallery? They show up in iDisk as well. I just don't want to have to delete the gallery and then have the people who contributed to it to have to re-upload the pictures.
    Suggestions?

I figured out what it was... 4 images were uploaded to the web gallery with a semicolon (;) in the name. After removing those 4 images, I was finally able to retrieve all the rest of the images from the web gallery into iPhoto without issue. I then renamed the images and re-added them back to the web gallery.

  • Distorted Web Gallery Images

I have had a strange problem when I create a web gallery. Some of the vertical images are distorted into a horizontal format. They look fine in the other modules and Photoshop. I appreciate any suggestions!
    Thank.

I experienced this for the first time last night with several D200 NEF's. Some of them were very distorted when exported as jpg's. I couldn't get A2 to recreate this consistently though. I was exporting a series of pictures and I each time I'd re-export them, the results were different. I had just loaded the images into my Library and touched several of them up? After restarting A2 and trying again, everything seems to be working fine. I know for a fact it isn't preview re-lated in my case since I have all previews turned off. It could be a thumbnail issue maybe?

  • Web Gallery: image adjustments during creation of web gallery?

I've noticed that when my images get uploaded to a web gallery, they look very different: it looks like they've been gamma'ed up, desaturated and had sharpening applied. It's quite a significant difference and it don't look good. I checked to see if it was a standard mac/pc gamma correction going on, but it didn't seem like it.
Any thoughts on why this is happening and what I can do to stop it?
    thanks,

I just did some digging and it seems that this washing out only happens on images that I've edited, but the way the image appears in the web gallery is WAY different than the way it appears in my iPhoto library. Perhaps when it's creating the image for the web gallery it's just not making my edits accurately?
Any thoughts on how to fix it? It's such a bummer.

  • Web Gallery - image file size

When I upload my images to the Web Gallery the file size of the image is greatly reduced. From 1.8MB file to about 450K - for the download or subscribe options. The image size is not changed, but the file appears to be more heavily compressed. Has anybody else seen this? If so, have you found a way to upload the original file size so subscribers will get your original file?

  • Pixelated web gallery images

I am experiencing several pixelated images in web galleries that I create.  It seems that the pixelation occurs only with the color black such as a black suit.  The pixels show up as whit or white-gray.  Here is one example.  There are about 12 images of the 360 that have this issue.  Any ideas or suggestions?
    http://www.fletcherimages.com/galleries/bonig/content/040409_141_large.html

You are probably seeing the black pixel bug in older Internet Explorer versions. As I don't use that browser I don't see it, so I am not sure but that is probably what it is. There is nothing you can do about it as it is a bug in Microsoft code and Lightroom is doing everything correctly. The bug is gone from recent IE versions and as I said, not present in every other browser. If you have clients that still use older IEs, you can try and correct for it by lowering your black value. Check whether IE before 8 will render your page correctly here: http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/

  • Web Gallery security setting

    Hi,
I have just created my gallery but run into a difficulty with the security setting. If I apply a password to my Album/Event, the Key Photo, number of photos, and scrolling feature is disabled in the My Gallery page. Is there a way of applying this security at the My Gallery level so that I do not loose this feature of the application?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Nick:
No, you can't have the gallery protected and still have the scrolling feature. Part of the protection is keeping the photos unavailable at that level as well as limiting access.
    Happy Holidays

  • Web gallery large images not at correct dimensions

LR 2.1 on MAC 10.4.11 when LR outputs large web gallery images they are sized at 240ppi and not at 72ppi. The pixel dimensions specified are correct but the file dimensions in inches are not correct. Using the "Lightroom HTML Gallery" with a user template which I have re-saved as a new version.

ppi is completely and utterly irrelevant for the web.

  • Pixelated Images on Web Gallery - Help!

We have been receiving complaints from our clients that our web gallery images are pixelated - and indeed they are to the point that you cannot recognize the person in the image! I have tried to upload different resolutions - high (3000 pixels or more) and low (900 x 1000 or so) and nothing seems to change the way the images look. We use bridge we gallery for clients to order from, so this is obviously effecting what they want to order. Anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this? Please help!

I am not sure how to determine that. The only options available there are for Small - Extra Large images, nothing about the size in K. When it is in Bridge it looks the way all photos look in Bridge, but when I actually upload it to the web that is when things get ugly.

  • Updating web gallery

I turned off the daily update of web gallery and set it to manual. I did this because iPhoto was locking up for a long time each time I would open it. It was updating the ton of web galleries I've created. I thought I could then make changes as I want to events and then update them when I'm ready for iPhoto to lock up.
    Wrong.
It keeps making changes online to any gallery as I make them. As soon as I move a video or hide a photo, I have to wait while the little spinning icon on the left rotates oh so slowly. If I move a larger video or a group of pics at once, forget it. I've learned to just come back to iPhoto later.
Any ideas on how to make it quit trying to update the moment I make a change in an event? I'd like to gain manual control over this process so it won't keep doing it for me as it pleases

Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Then reset the preferences and see if the manual update option will work.
