Web Part or Page being Cached

I put a Business Data List web part on a Web Part Page in SharePoint 2010. The page is being cached. I keep getting old, same, and incorrect results all the time whenever I click the Retrieve button.
How can I stop the Page from being cached? Thanks.
Mayank

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to stop the Web Part or Page from being cached.
Per my knowleadge, the default implementation of the BDC service and the related Web Parts do not provide a caching mechanism for storing the retrieved information. The entity information is retrieved from the BDC and is stored
directly into the ASP.NET cache. You can refer to:
Caching in SharePoint
I recommend to open the web.config file in SharePoint's web site and change to
<WebPartCache Storage="None" />, then restart IIS (iisreset at a command prompt will do).

• 2013 Custom Web Parts in Page Layouts not showing for users

Custom Web Parts in Page Layouts not showing for users
I have created a master page in the root site collection for a subsite I am developing. I created content types and custom page layouts for the pages within the subsite.
I used the snippet tool in the design manager to create web parts and page field markup which I copied into the custom layout HTML pages in the root site collection. For instance I have an image viewer web part that I place there to serve as a section title.
The problem is that I can see all these customer layout page parts no problem but my users cannot. This leads me to believe its permissions, I am site owner of both the subsite and root site collection.
The users that cannot see the web parts are site members of the site and restricted read users on the root site collection (where the layouts are stored).
What gives I'm finding it hard to understand why a snipet generated web part wouldn't show in all pages created from that layout page.
Any help would be appreciated, Havent found anything on this issue online. weird.

It is a permission issue indeed. Fix is simple, make sure you check out the page layout page, then check it back in as published version.

• Fresh install: Discussion Board item "alert me" errors Web Parts Maintenance Page

This happens on a freshly installed Sharepoint 2013 Foundation standalone server.
I create a standard Discussion board app and add a discussion post. I enter the post, and use the "alert me" option (under the post, not in the top ribbon). I hit ok on the alert settings and get the "sorry, something went wrong"

• Add and edit content editor web part to pages in bulk.

Hello,
I had recently posted a question 'Build pages in

• Linking two lists to create a Data Source but cannot add web part to page in SharePoint designer

All;
I created a new data source by linking two lists which created a linked Data Source. I now want to access that linked data source via insertion of a Data Source control on a web part page.
What I find is, both DATA SOURCE and DATA VIEW are inactive and unselectable.
Is there any way to get this functionality going?
Thx
Larry Pexter

Hi Larry,
Since it is a coding UI, we need to put cursor into appropriate place so we can insert data view web part, i.e. the coding which represents the web part in to the whole coding part.
As I tested in my envrionment, if you put cursor between <ZoneTemplate> and </ZoneTemplate>, I cannot get the DATA view, even before </ZoneTemplate>. Please put it exactly before <ZoneTemplate>.
If you have modify the coding, please click save and test the issue again.

• InfoPath Form Web Part breaking page left alignment

I have tried both a wiki page and a web part page and met with the same results. I am using the Oslo theme. I add two web parts (SharePoint List Filter and Listview App) and it works perfectly and the page looks normal.
When I add the InfoPath Form web part (I have tried different layouts and different zones) it causes the left alignment of the page to be way off.
See pics below.
Any suggestions?
Any help would be really appreciated!!

Hi,
We have reproduced this issue. The page left alignment is broken and the page is rightward after the InfoPath Form web part is added. It happens both on the wiki page and the web part page.
Thank you for bring this issue to our attention, your time and efforts on this matter are highly appreciate. It could be a potential issue in SharePoint 2013.
In our behalf, we will put your finding to our suggestion box and report it internally. If there is any update, we will keep you informed in this thread.

• Programatically adding web parts to pages

I am using a site provisioning event receiver and am trying to add the ProjectSummaryWebPart and the GettingStartedWebPart to the page. I am using the code below but when I go browse the page it looks like this. Has anyone had any experience with programmatically
adding these web parts to a page using server side code?
ProjectSummaryWebPart pswp = new ProjectSummaryWebPart
Title = "Project Summary",
ChromeType = PartChromeType.TitleOnly
wpmgr.AddWebPart(pswp, "Header", 0);
GettingStartedWebPart gswp = new GettingStartedWebPart {
ChromeType = PartChromeType.TitleOnly,
Title = "Get Started with your project site",
wpmgr.AddWebPart(gswp, "Header", 1);

Hi,
I can reproduce this issue by adding the Project Summary Web Part into a page, when I change the PartChromeType to “BorderOnly”, the duplicated title will disappear.
Anyway, when editing the page contains the Project Summary Web Part added programmatically, the ribbon will be blocked by an undefined error in projectsummary.js.
As the limited resource we have, I would suggest you open a ticket for this case:

• How to add the Note board web part to a page with powershell

Hi everyone,
I've been looking around everywhere but haven't seen it explicitly mentioned.
Does anyone know how to add the Note Board web part to a Team Site page, e.g. Non-publishing site, Left Zone, First webpart in the zone in powershell?
Examples like this one http://adicodes.com/adding-web-part-to-page-with-powershell/ only talk about custom web parts uploaded from a local drive.
The example here looks good - http://spcrew.com/blogs/lists/posts/post.aspx?id=21 but is it for the Page Viewer Web Part. How would you go about getting the correct name for the note board web part and configuring it?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to add the Note board web part to a page with PowerShell.
The name of the Note Board web part is SocialCommentWebPart.
I recommend to use the powershell code below:
$pageUrl="http://sitename/SitePages/test.aspx"
$SiteURL="http://sitename"
$site = new-object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite($SiteURL)
$web=$site.OpenWeb()
$webpartmanager=$web.GetLimitedWebPartManager($pageUrl, [System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.PersonalizationScope]::Shared)
$webpart = new-object Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.WebControls.SocialCommentWebPart
$webpart.title="Note Board"
$webpartmanager.AddWebPart($webpart, "MiddleZone", 0);
$web.Close()
Then the Note board web part will be added to the page.

• What can I use to list the specific web part types on a specific page?

A user is trying to create a new entry on a sharepoint page. The page has various web parts showing bulleted lists of links.
However, when he tried to create a new one, he ends up with the links having no bullets and the letters URL in a title bar over the links. The other link web parts do not have that. The title bar allows sorting of the links; the other web parts have
no title bar at all.
This new web part has no "edit" option to modify parameters like titlebar, etc.
Is there a powershell way that I could provide a URL and get the list of web parts, their types and their titles so that I could see what is going on and try to help him fix things?

You can check all these out via the Web Part Maintenance Page. After the PageName.aspx, add ?contents=1 and you'll get a list of the webparts that are open and published on the page.
You can't do too much here but you can reset the parts that you think might be causing the problems.

• The maximum number of Web Parts for all zones on this page has been exceeded.

Hi All,
I am getting following error message when making a new view for SharePoint Form Library
The maximum number of Web Parts for all zones on this page has been exceeded.
Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated...

When you are looking at the page append the following at the end of your URL: ?contents=1
Your URL should look something like this:
http://contoso/site/default.aspx?contents=1
This will open the web part maintenance page. How many web parts are listed? You might have a large number of closed web parts that aren't showing on the page but are actually still there.

• Row limit in declarative list view web part

Hi,
Imagine you are in a scenario where you develop a custom web template or a site definition. Page Layouts with web part zones are being provisioned and out of them, decoratively web part pages are being created and populated with web parts. So something like:
<Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
<Module Name="XXXProjectPages" Url="$Resources:osrvcore,List_Pages_UrlName;" Path="" SetupPath="FEATURES\XXX_Intranet_PMO_PageLayouts\">

<File Url="FullPageLayout\XXXFullPageLayout.aspx" Name="Default.aspx" Type="GhostableInLibrary" IgnoreIfAlreadyExists="FALSE" ReplaceContent="TRUE" Level="Published">
<Property Name="Title" Value="Team & Collaboration" />
<Property Name="ContentType" Value="$Resources:cmscore,contenttype_page_name;" />
<Property Name="PublishingPageLayout" Value="~SiteCollection/_catalogs/masterpage/XXXFullPageLayout.aspx, ~SiteCollection/_catalogs/masterpage/XXXFullPageLayout.aspx" />

<View List="Lists/Announcements" BaseViewID="102" WebPartZoneID="wpZone1" WebPartOrder="2">

<WebPart xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WebPart/v2">
<Assembly>Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=15.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c</Assembly>
<TypeName>Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.ListViewWebPart</TypeName>

Latest News

<FrameType>TitleBarOnly</FrameType>
</WebPart>

</View>
For simplicity, let's assume that we are working with instances of OOB list definitions, such as Announcements or Document Library. So far so good. And now the question...
In my understanding if you want to do something as simple as limiting the number of items returned, or specifying a custom view criteria (filter/sorting/grouping, whatever) or just remove the toolbar, you have to go as far as provisioning an ENTIRE LIST
DEFINITION, defining your custom View in it (which declares the toolbar type, row limit and View) and then reference this new View by its BaseViewID. Is that correct?
Is there really no other, simpler way, of 'provisioning' and referencing a new view, to an existing list instance, along with the
Module -> File -> View element? I see a couple of logical options:
1) I would imagine such metadata could be stored in the web part and not the actual list. i.e. the web parts sends a CAML query to the list, based on the View metadata stored in it.
2) As we know, when you Edit page and configure the View for a List View Web Part on the page, that view is stored as a new hidden view in the actual list (i.e. if you have two list view web parts that reference that list, you will have two additional hidden
views). Then why can't we provision such (hidden) view along with the List View WebPart when we declare it and create the page? It could be created on first access of the page, or during the page
provisioning.
Another option could be the XmlDefinition property of the XsltListViewWebPart, but
apparently it is being ignored. I have also tried using the 'CustomSchema' property of the ListInstance, but it totally makes no sense because:
a) You cannot define more than one view in it, i.e. you have to override the OOB view that comes with the definition (lol?!)
b) You are supposed to overwrite the entire list definition, instead of simply upgrading parts of it
So, let me elaborate: if I want to have a <View> (ListViewWebPart) in my Page and this view to have some custom criteria, I have to provision an entire List Definition, is that correct? This is crazy.

Hi Hristo,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to know if you can use <view> tag in the list view web part to define the row limit of list view web part.
Per my knowledge, you can define rowlimit element in the view element for list view web part directly not necessary to modify the entire list definition.
View Element:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ms438338(v=office.15).aspx
Also, if you want to do more customization, you can still orverride the xslt.

Services Report Viewer' just to see the outcome.
Now, I don't much care about viewing the report at this time, but imediately after trying to add the web part i am being displayed with an error and no matter how much i navigate away from the page or close the browser the particular link to the page i was
trying to insert the web-part into now displays an error.
The error simply says 'An unexpsected error has occured' with various 'Correlation ID:' each time.
Now i have a link to other parts or subsites of that SharePoint site and they work just fine, it's just when i try to click on the page where i wanted to put the web-part in it
still comes up with an error. This page just so happens to be the home page so it really does need to be fixed.
Please help!?
Many Thanks,
Plain_Clueless

Hi again,
Sorry for the bother, We have now fixed the issue for the time being.. all that was needed was a simple '?contents=1' at the end of the url which takes you to a menu where you can delete the
necessary web-part that was causing the trouble.
As for actually implementing the report onto SharePoint.. in future i will make Dev pages instead.. and it seems i may need to contact the admin side of building so they configure 'SQL Reporting
Services Report Viewer' properly.
Thanks a lot though!
