Web Service Client using computer name instead of IP

Hi,
I've built a small EJB web service with a JAVA application deployed via JAVA Web Start for the client.
I testing the application on our LAN and it worked perfectly on one machine. I tested it on another machine and I get an erro along the lines of:
HTTP Transport Error java.net.UnknownHostException: Ian
"ian" being the computer name of the server machine hosting the EJB we service. I presume the program worked on the first machine as it new which computer on the LAN was "ian", whereas the second machine didnt'.
The applications were built in NetBeans and the only place i can see the "ian" address being used is in the client WSDL file:
  <service name="VOQAOnline">
    <port binding="tns:VOQAOnlineSEIBinding" name="VOQAOnlineSEIPort">
      <soap:address location="http://ian:8080/VOQAOnline-EJBModule/VOQAOnline"/>
    </port>
  </service>Netbeans seems determined to keep this address using the computer name, even if i delete the web service refernce add it again using the server ip address. I've also tried editing the WSDL file in the client JAR post compile, however the error still occurs, so maybe the problem is somewhere else?
The App server I am using is JBoss 4.0.3. Maybe there is a configuration on the server i need to do?
Eventually I plan to deploy the client app over the Internet, so using the computer name is clearly insufficient and it needs to use the IP. It's really annoying how it works on some machines on the network but not others. Any ideas on how to solve this?

You can associate a Virtual Host to the loopback IP address 127.0.0.1 read about Virtual Hosts here: http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/virtual-hosting-howto.html
But with the above configuration alone you can access your app via http://somedomainname.com only on your local machine, no one else on the internet will see it.

    Hi,
    The error message said
    the Permission(java.lang.RuntimePermission getClassLoader) has not been granted to USF.
    I'd follow the suggestion
    The PL/SQL to grant this is dbms_java.grant_permission( 'USF','SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'getClassLoader', '' )

  • Issue with creating Web Service Client using Oracle JDeveloper

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create a Web Service Client using Oracle JDeveloper. I set the Project compiler property to JRE 1.4
    When I run the web service client, it throws me bunch of errors saying:
    'Error(32,2): annotations are not supported in -source 1.4'
    I am wondering why JDeveloper is using annotations even after I set the compiler property to 1.4
    I am following this link to create the webservice client:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/webservices-forms-11g-094111.html
    Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Scott.

    Dear Shay,
    Thanks for your prompt response.
    You are right. JDeveloper 11g uses JDK 6 style annotations for the clients it creates. But you can change the JRE Version used at compile time by following these steps:
    1. In the Applications Navigator, right-click the Project Nanem node and select Project Properties... from the context menu.
    2. Select the Compiler node and check the Source Files and Generated Class Files dropdown lists. You may change these versions depending on the version of the JRE you are using with Forms to ensure that the compiled
    classes from JDeveloper can be read by the JRE used by Form.
    So I selected JDK version 1.4 there.
    Sorry that I did not mention that we are using Oracle Forms 10g. That is the reason I selected JDK 1.4
    Thank you.
    Scott.

  • Problem creating web service client using WSM Policies

    Hello everyone,
    I'm trying to make a simple java client to a Web Service secured using a WSM 11gR1 policy (from Soa Suite 11.1.1.2.0). The policy on the server side is oracle/wss11_x509_token_with_message_protection_service_policy which I attached via the Weblogic Admin Console. To implement the client I'm trying to follow the instructions from this documentation: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/e13713/owsm_appendix.htm#WSSOV386 section "Policy Configuration Overrides for the Web Service Client" and also I'm using OEPE 11.1.1.3.0 (Eclipse 3.5.0) to develop the client. The only weblogic jar I've added to the build path is the weblogic.jar . Unfortunately, the oracle.wsm.security.util.SecurityConstants.ClientConstants interface (used in the example A-6) is not included in this jar and I have no idea what other libraries should I include in order to follow the example. I tried manualy adding other jars but without success. In fact I found one jar which includes this interface, the wsm-secpol.jar but it does not have the properties described in the documentation, so I guess it's not the right jar, and also I don't think this is the right procedure since there might be another dependent jars. So I would like to know what libraries exactly I should add to the build path (or some other procedure if you noticed I'm doing anything wrong)
    Thank you !

    JDeveloper 10.1.2 only understands a subset of all of the complexTypes that can be defined in a WSDL document. For example, if the following appear in the "types" section of the WSDL, any use of those types will cause JDeveloper to generate a reference to UnknownType in a stub or skeleton:
    •     Restrictions of simpleTypes
    •     complexTypes which define attributes Does that mean that the jdeveloper will not support complex types?Could anybody tell me how to resolve the above said issue? Is there any patch that i can run to resolve the issue?

    We have tried doing it with J2EE JAX-RPC...
    We studied the sample program of HelloService...
    While calling the service from command line..it takes .jar file..
    But we have to make use of only WSDL....
    Is there any alternative way?? or jax-rpc is the best one???
    wat will be the best way to do so??

  • SAAJ (Web Service Client) and Integrated windows Authentication

    Hello
    I have build a web service client using SAAJ, the Web services is deployed on MS IIS. Every thing seems to work fine, The problem appears when I apply directory security on the Web Service Directory. When I apply Basic authentication SAAJ manages to send the user name and password and it goes fine, but when I apply Integrated Windows Authentication, I always get a response Access is Denied.
    I know we can authenticate the user credentials from NTLM from JAAS but here I am using a web services client.
    My Question is How can we pass the user credentials through a web service client to the IIS when the directory security is Windows Integrated Authentication?
    Any work around or the solution will be appreciated.
    Thanks :-)
    Syed Saulat

    Hi Gilles,
    Thank you very much for your answer. Actually, I think the problem is a little bit different. The kerberos server is not delivering a "grant" ticket to the client for the service provided by the VIP, because the CSS didn't register to the Active Directory, as a normal W2K web server would. The first thing the client does when he wants to access a web server behind the CSS is to ask the kerberos server for a "gtanting" ticket for that service. So the problem arise before the client sends any packet to the CSS (therefore I think it is more a Microsoft problem rather than a CSS problem).
    But for sure, other people have this environment I suppose...
    What is your opinion on this ?

  • Setting timeout of web service client

    I created a web service client using the java proxy for
    a web service by running my web service in weblogic workshop test browser and by using
    the jar file created by clicking on "Java Proxy" button.
    i am calling my web service my adding code similar to this and it works
    HelloWorld_Impl proxy = new HelloWorld_Impl();
    HelloWorldSoap soapProxy = proxy.getHelloWorldSoap();
    But, i am not sure how to set the timeout of my client programatically.
    Is there a way to do this ?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Anyway,
    I figured it out myself, by looking at other posts and applying some reflection API
    HelloWorld_Impl proxy = new HelloWorld_Impl();
    HelloWorldSoap soapProxy = proxy.getHelloWorldSoap();
    // I learnt that this soapProxy is infact an object of HelloWorldSoap_Stub class
    HelloWorldSoap_Stub myStub = (HelloWorldSoap_Stub)proxy.getHelloWorldSoap();
    BindingInfo bInfo = (BindingInfo)myStub._getProperty("weblogic.webservice.bindinginfo");
    bInfo.setTimeout(5); //secs
    myStub._setProperty("weblogic.webservice.rpc.timeoutsecs", "5"); // secs
    // finally you can call the methods of the web service
    soapProxy.Hello();
    Please be aware that, upon time out, you would get an exception : <class = java.rmi.RemoteException
    cause = javax.xml.rpc.soap.SOAPFaultException: javax.xml.rpc.JAXRPCException:java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out.>
    Also, my env : Weblogic 8.1 SP4

  • Web service client ignores http proxy settings

    I have a web service client using Weblogic's web service client library. I'm trying to instruct it to use a http proxy. I've set all the following system properties:
    -Dhttp.proxyHost=127.0.0.1
    -Dhttp.proxyPort=8080 -Dweblogic.webservice.transport.http.proxy.host=127.0.0.1 -Dweblogic.webservice.transport.http.proxy.port=8080
    No traffic is passing through the proxy.
    When the proxy is down, the application works fine too. I suspect that the proxy settings are completely ignored for some reason.
    I'm using Weblogic 8.1 SP4 on a Windows XP box and JDK 1.4.2 (Sun's bundled JDK with Weblogic).

    Sorry about the delay,
    You just need to use the standard java http proxy properties, take a look at:

  • How to implement web service client timeout

    I'm trying to implement a web service client using JAX-RPC specification and the client is generated by clientgen utility. We are using weblogic8.1(sp5).
    How do I control the connection timeout and data transmission timeout? I have tried:
    BindingInfo.setTimeout() method and stub._setProperty("weblogic.webservice.rpc.timeoutsecs", "1" /* secs */);
    and they don't seem to be working...
    I have searched the web service documentation and didn't found any mentioning on this. Can someone shred some light on this?

    Hi,
    I had a problem too for setting the timeout of a webservice client. but i didn't find any thing on this.
    But there is a work around for this see if it suits you but for this you have to use Apache AXIS webservice api to generate the client in that Api you have the Stub.timeOut() function to over come this problem

  • Processing ABAP Idocs in SAP Java AS CE 7.1 web service client applicatin

    I am trying to build a Java web service client which would call a web service in a non-SAP system.  I am trying to send  Idocs from the back-end CRM system to my Java web service client using a Jco RFC Provider.  I have already created the RFC Destination on the ABAP side to send my Idocs to my Jco RFC Provider program on the Java side.  The connections between the ABAP and Java are working fine.  My question is how in my Java web service client do I pick up the IDoc sent from ABAP to the Jco RFC Provider?
    Please let me know if more clearification is needed

    I do receive the IDoc with the SAP Java AS "RFC Jco Provider" component I created, and in my Java application I created a class for "IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUSBean" which has a method "processFunction(Function function)" and in that method I can do function.write("filename.xml") and it writes out an xml document of the Idoc sent from the ABAP server.  I can further process the Idoc by pulling field values from the xml structure.  However, my problem is I am now trying to write a second Java application to do the same thing but with a different Idoc type.  I created a a second RFC Jco provider(listener) on the server but the Idocs still flow through the first Java application, which is an undesirable affect.  I got this idea from this document originally "http://nwadave.com/NwadExplorer/data/SAPDoc/ProcessingIDocsWithTheSAPJavaConnector.doc", and it works fine until now when I'm trying to add a second application to do similar work.  This is makeing me wonder if I should have even done the first one this way?  Bottomline is what tell the RFC Jco provider(listener) on the Java server which application to send the Idocs too?

    I am trying to figure out how to create a web service client using NetBeans 6. I started with a class library for testing in Fitnesse. I was able to get the web service client to work in Windows XP by following the same steps I was using in Windows 2003 x64. I did not need to add anything to the Class Path in XP to run the test application and execute a web service method; however, NetBeans would not give me the option to test the web method from the IDE.
    I will try re-installing java and netbeans on the 64 bit server and see if that helps.
