Web Service Consumption + SM59 ( HTTPS)

Hello ABAP Gurus,
I have issue to consume web service. I am trying to consume web service form external plm server. it has https protocol. For this i tried to create rfc type G for external server but I am wondering that what i need to know to create rfc to ping https web service. I created rfc but not able to ping by sm59 and only reason i am finding is this it is http not https but i am sure you can create rfc for https also. we are on ecc6.0 and SAP_ABA patch level 21. I will greatly appreciate if someone can help me out from this issue.

There seems to be a routine problem with Adobe on HTTPs even when it says HTTP/HTTPS in dataconection.

I have a requirement where in I need to Consume a web service in SAP CRM. The response of the web service will have multiple records.
My questions is will Web Service Consumption in SAP CRM 7.0 be able to handle these records in a popup or not.
I would like to know whether it is feasible or not.

Hi Kavita,
There is a standard column in UWL with name 'Sent Date'. Other functionalities in UWL for example deadline monitoring (Due date column) are based on this sent date. This shows an employee what was the date workitem was created (sent date) and when it will get escalated (due date). Displaying forwarding date in Sent date will not give clear picture to employee as the deadline will be calculated based on sent date only not based on forwarding date. this was just an example.
even though if your client is insisting, i dont think it can be done without any enhancement in UWL web dynpro com sort of thing. you can check with your portal consultant too.

Calling web service with SSL (HTTPS) hangs client stub

If anyone can help it would make my day! I've spent way too much time on this!!!
I'm running:
- Web service is running on Linux RedHat with Oracle9iAS 9.0.3
- Client is running from Windows XP under Jdeveloper
I've successfully installed and run the web security demo "ws_security" at http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/web_services/wssecurity/ws_security.jar.
This demo goes through installing the web service, certificates, etc... and the demo runs fine. I'm also able to connect to the web service from a browser using https://server1:4443/CreditCardValidator/CreditCardValidator. I can download the proxy, look at the WSDL, etc...
Now I've written my own very simple stateless java class web service, deployed it to 9iAS , and then downloaded the proxy stub jar. Using the proxy stub I can call my web service and everything works fine.
Then I configure the web service to use HTTPS by making the following changes to the proxy stub (per the ws_security demo).
1) Copy the following 5 lines to the proxy stub
System.setProperty("ssl.SocketFactory.provider","oracle.security.ssl.OracleSSLSocketFactoryImpl");
System.setProperty("ssl.ServerSocketFactory.provider","oracle.security.ssl.OracleSSLServerSocketFactoryImpl");
System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs","HTTPClient");
System.setProperty("oracle.wallet.location","C:\\Data\\Oracle\\WALLETS\\ws_security\\wallet.txt");
System.setProperty("oracle.wallet.password","thewalletpassword");
2) modify the "m_soapURL" by changing "http" to "https" and the port number to 4443
3) add the following 3 jar files to my projects library class list:
C:\Program Files\jdev9031\jlib\jssl-1_2.jar
C:\Program Files\jdev9031\jdk\jre\lib\ext\jcert.jar
C:\Program Files\jdev9031\lib\jsse.jar;C:\Program Files\jdev9031\jlib\javax-ssl-1_2.jar
When I run the proxy stub it just hangs. I've traced the hang to the "Response response = call.invoke(new URL(m_soapURL), soapActionURI);" statement in the "makeSOAPCallRPC" method in the proxy stub.
Again, this works fine if I simply change the "m_soapURL" to use "http" instead of "https". It looks like it's hanging on the client side and the call is never making it to the server.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

Since my first message, I used the wallet manager to add the certificate the server where the web service is at, uses.
What else do I need to make it work??

How to access SOAP web service with authentication, HTTP basic Authentication

i use Flash Builder 4.5, flex 4..1, i am developing a flex client to soap webservices hosted over Glassfish 2 Java server, the web services is protected by HTTP Basic Authentication, everythime i run my code , the prombt for username and password show up, i need to pass user name and password through action script, i followed the flollowing (but was for http web service, not soap) but really did not work.

I don't know if this could help.
Another way to connect to a web service by SOAP and WSDL is to click on the Data/Services panel, then click on "Connect to Data/Services" and then select the "Web Service" (WSDL) icon. This could help as well.

Web Service consumption in Apex 3.1

Are there any guidelines on how web services should be built for apex?
I had a sample WSDL one time, which worked for other reporting tool, but did not work in apex. I was getting err message saying '...there is no result tree node...'.

Can not set up Web Service datastore using HTTPS WSDL DS 4.1

I have been trying to configure a Web services data store to connect to an HTTPS Wsdl file
Here is some background.
DS Version: 14.1.1.210
Job Server Windows 2008
if i configure the datastore and leave the field for Keystore path empty, i get the following error:

If i put the path C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Data Services\ssl\mds\DSJavaKeyStore.keystore for the keystone path,
I get the following different error:

I have recreated the DSJavaKeyStore.keystore and added in additional certificates but nothing seems to work.
As a workaround i saved the wsdl file down to the local machine (I'm currently running designer on the job server machine)
i can then save the web service datastore and import the wsdl function. but at runtime I get the following error:
There is no response for the web service <getMessageByIdentifier>. Ensure that the network, web server, and service are running
properly. Also ensure that the service client call time out is set properly.

Web Service Consumption in Web Dynpro Java

I'm using NetWeaver 2004s for Java. I have generated a Web Service out of a BAPI. I use that Web Service in a Web Dynpro Java Application as Model. Model generation works fine. But when I call the Web Service during execution of the corresponding Web Dynpro Application, I get the following Exception:
"java.rmi.RemoteException: Service call exception; nested exception is: java.lang.Exception: Call to returned http code 500 with unacceptable content type (text/html; charset=iso-8859-1). <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Unknown Host</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY BGCOLOR="white" FGCOLOR="black"> <H1>Unknown Host</H1> <HR> <FONT FACE="Helvetica,Arial"><B> Description: Unable to locate the server named "<EM>us0308.wdf.sap.corp</EM>" --- the server does not have a DNS entry. Perhaps there is a misspelling in the server name, or the server no longer exists. Double-check the name and try again. </B></FONT> <HR> </BODY>"
Testing the Web Service via transaction WSADMIN works fine. Can anybody give me an advise how to solve that problem?

Had Exactly same problem with authorization issues on the server hosting the webservices.
Create a CPIC user Id on the server hosting the webservice. The user id should have authorization to execute the webservice.
Create a webservice destination in VA for the said webservice using the user id
1. Log on to the J2EE Engine as an administrator using the Visual Administrator.
2. Expand -> Server ->Services.
3. Select the Destinations service.
4. Under Destinations, select HTTP and choose New
You need to create two destinations one for matadata and another for execution data.
Use the destinations while creating the WS model in NWDS.
if you have issues importing the model using the URL, you can create the model using the WSDL and use the WS Destinations to execute it.
I am following the same approach after i had faced similar issues with webservices on PI7.1 and Portal 7.0
About the option to use _setusername, _set...., not all webservices come with the _set methods.
and moreover if you do that, it would be more of hardcoding in the code, which should be avoided.

Web Service Client over HTTPS

Hello everyone,
need help -
my project requires making a SOAP call to access a web service over HTTPS. We are using WSAD 5.0 server with IIS web server. I am very new to this. Could anyone sort of guide me?
I have the WSDL file & I generated Java Proxy clients using WSDL2Client. How do I go about ensuring that the SOAP goes over SSL/HTTPS? Are there any security changes required at the app server level? Should I have made any changes to WSDL document itself as it has http:// references in the soap binding.
The service provider uses real certificates (veriSign). How do I handle exchange of certificates?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Web service client ignores http proxy settings

I have a web service client using Weblogic's web service client library. I'm trying to instruct it to use a http proxy. I've set all the following system properties:
-Dhttp.proxyHost=127.0.0.1
-Dhttp.proxyPort=8080 -Dweblogic.webservice.transport.http.proxy.host=127.0.0.1 -Dweblogic.webservice.transport.http.proxy.port=8080
No traffic is passing through the proxy.
When the proxy is down, the application works fine too. I suspect that the proxy settings are completely ignored for some reason.
I'm using Weblogic 8.1 SP4 on a Windows XP box and JDK 1.4.2 (Sun's bundled JDK with Weblogic).

In RDBMS 10g you cannot directly expose WS from the DB you need to use the OracleAS Web Service Runtime to do it, following this documentation:
- Developing Web Services that Expose Database Resources
This is true if we are talking about "tooling/runtime/API" but after all Web Services are mainly XML (WSDL and SOAP) so it is still possible to create by hands (PL/SQL & static files) but it is probably a long work depending of the complexity of your services.
Also, in RDBMS 11, you can now directly expose WS from the DB using the embedded HTTP server, see this Oracle 11g New Features Document
Note that before taking one approach you must take time to write up your requirement regarding Web Services eg: do I need security, which time of encoding, interoperability, ..., ... For example WS-Security that is the standard to secure SOAP messages is not (yet) supported by the Oracle 11g RDBMS Native Web Services... where when you do use the WS-Runtime you can secure the Web Service..

Safe to retry Flex Web Service calls on HTTP request failures?

I'm using Flex's web services layer to make SOAP calls to a back-end server. Once in a while, those calls fail with a generic RPC fault that looks like this:
faultString="HTTP request error"
faultCode="Server.Error.Request"
faultDetail="Error #2032: Stream Error..."
When this happens, is it safe to assume that the server didn't get the message and retry an otherwise non-idempotent request?

Anyone have any ideas?

does anyone have an idea how-to consume Web Services in Web Intelligence?
The scenario is the following:
The data is stored as XSTRING (ABAP AS) and it is retrieved via ABAP Web Service which translate the XSTRING into STRING.
However, is there a possibility to consum this web service in Web Intelligence resp. is it possible to access the data via SQL as Ingo Hilgefort has it posted on his wiki Page to access SAP via SQL:

Use the WebI rich client (assuming you are using XI 3.x) to build a new report. Activate the Other data sources option and choose there Web services . It will enable you to choose a Web service as data source.
Starting with SP3 this type of provider can be refreshed dynamically when the report is viewed in the InfoVIew.
