Web Services - restriction

Hi,
I have developed a web service and deployed it in standalone Oracle oc4j server and i published the web service to UDDI registry.
We given the access to all users to view the registry. But we want to restrict who are all implementing our web service. So in future, if we change the service we can notify them.
rgds,
Bala Murali

rgds,
Bala Murali It'd be helpful if you could clarify your requirement. Do you want want to restrict the users who can implement your web service, i.e., restricting access to the service interface specification (such as <wsdl:binding> of a WSDL)? Or do you want to restrict users to access the web services you implemented?

  • Error during JNDI lookup Accessing Remote EJB (access to web service restricted using declarative security model)

    Hello everyone,
    I developed a Web Service prototype accessing remote EJB using the EJB
    control with special syntax in the jndi-name attribute: @jws:ejb
    home-jndi-name="t3://10.10.245.70:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB"
    Everything works fine, but I get an error when I restrict access to my web
    service with a declarative security model by implementing steps provided in
    help doc:
    - Define the web resource you wish to protect
    - Define which security role is required to access the web resource
    - Define which users are granted the required security role

    I launch the service by entering the address in a web browser. When prompted
    to accept the digital certificate, click Yes, when prompted for network
    authentication information, enter username and password, navigate to the
    Test Form tab of Test View, invoke the method by clicking the button and I

    I have a simple Hello method as well in my WebService (which is also
    restricted) and it works fine, but remote EJB access doesn't. I tested my

    Is that a bug or I am missing some additional configuration in order to get

    Or a suggested way to work around the problem?
    Thank you.

    Andre,
    It would be best if this issue is handled as an Eval Support case. Please
    BEA Customer Support at http://support.beasys.com along with the required
    files, and request that an Eval support case be created for this issue.

    Andre,
    It seems you are using the URL
    jndi:t3://secuser1:[email protected]:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB
    whereas you should not be specifying the "t3:" protocol.
    The URL should be like
    jndi://secuser1:[email protected]:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB
    Please do let me know if you see any issues with this.
    Note that this will only allow you to access remote EJBs in the same WLS
    domain. For accessing EJBs on another domain, you need to configure
    inter-domain communication by
    following a few simple steps as mentioned at
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/ConsoleHelp/jta.html#1106135. This link has
    been provided in the EJB Control Workshop documentation.

    Can you try using the following url with username and password
    jndi://username:password@host:7001/my.resource.jndi.object ?
    once you add webapp level security, the authenticated is the user who
    invokes the EJB.

  • Native web service - min occurs restriction of fields

    Greetings,
    I'm using native web services to expose a store procedure as a web service. The store procedure uses an object as an input parameter as I need to expose a complex nested structure. However all the fields from that object as exposed as mandatory in the generated WSDL file as no min-max occurs restriction is applied.
    My question is, is there any way to modify that generated web service in order to set some of those fields as optional? (the generated xsd should have a min occurs = 0 restriction for those fields).
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Actually, I have a table with three columns and four rows.
    My webservice's response is a list of users containing four informations for each user (login, name, email and division). Each information is binding to one case of the second column.
    For example if the list is :
    first response
    User1 = apink, alex pink, apink@..., 5
    User2 = tblue, tony blue, tblue@..., 5
    My table will look like this :
    column one | column two | column three
    apink
    alex pink
    apink@...
    5
    tblue
    tony blue
    tblue@...
    5
    which is what i want. But I want that if I call the web service again with a different parameter a new table will be created and the old will be still here like this :
    second response
    User1 = kvarsen, Kyle varsen, kvarsen@..., 5
    User2 = someone, some one, sone@..., 5
    column one | column two | column three
    apink
    alex pink
    apink@...
    5
    tblue
    tony blue
    tblue@...
    5
    column one | column two | column three
    kvarsen
    kyle varsen
    kvarsen@...
    5
    someone
    some one
    sone@...
    5
    I hope to have been clear.
    Thanks for your help

  • Web Service Proxy Class: Message class does not recognize xs:restriction

    Hi,
    I have a use case where I need to consume a published web service. The request message of the published web service has quite a few elements which are defined using the xs:restriction tag. For example:
    <xs:element maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="0" name="EMPLID">
    <xs:annotation>
    <xs:documentation xml:lang="en">Empl ID</xs:documentation>
    </xs:annotation>
    <xs:simpleType>
    <xs:restriction base="xs:string">
    <xs:maxLength value="11"/>
    </xs:restriction>
    </xs:simpleType>
    </xs:element>
    <xs:element maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="0" name="BIRTHDATE">
    <xs:annotation>
    <xs:documentation xml:lang="en">Date of Birth</xs:documentation>
    </xs:annotation>
    <xs:simpleType>
    <xs:restriction base="xs:date"/>
    </xs:simpleType>
    </xs:element>
    <xs:element maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="0" name="BIRTHPLACE">
    <xs:annotation>
    <xs:documentation xml:lang="en">Birth Location</xs:documentation>
    </xs:annotation>
    <xs:simpleType>
    <xs:restriction base="xs:string">
    <xs:maxLength value="30"/>
    </xs:restriction>
    </xs:simpleType>
    </xs:element>
    The problem is that the message class that is generated for the request message does not create properties for these elements. Hence no accessor methods are generated either. This makes it impossible to set the message data. Unless I guess we code the entire thing manually.
    Does anyone know of a better workaround ?

    Looks like this was a false alarm. There were some issues with the message schema.
    Sorry for the confusion.

  • How to restrict only one instance of web service running at a time

    Hi All,
    Have a requirement to ensure that only one instance of java web service is active at any point of time.
    Using Application Server 10.1.3.4. Not the soa suite.

    I have a java web service that pulls up some files produced periodically from remote machine and uploads them to some doc mgmt system and then update the database that what files are uplaoded successfully so that during next run it will ignore those files.
    so, if my web service executes second time before completion of first run. It would pick files that were already processed by first run since the first run might have not updated the databse yet.

  • How to allow access to web service running under ApplicationPoolIdentity

    Hi All,
    I have a WCF web service hosted in IIS 7 (or maybe 7.5, whichever comes with Windows server 2008 R2) using DefaultAppPool running under ApplicationPoolIdentity per Microsoft's recommendation. The web service needs to call a stored procedure to insert data
    to a db. The web server is on a different VM than the database server. The db server is running SQL 2008 R2. Both VMs run Windows server 2008 R2.
    When the web service tries to connect to db, it encounters this exception:
    Exception in InsertToDb()System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.
       at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection)
    Here's the connection string in web.config:
    Application Name=somewebservice;Server=somewebserver;Integrated Security=SSPI;Database=somedatabase;Connection Timeout=60"
    How should I configure SQL security to make this work?
    Thanks in advanced.

    Thanks for the link Dan. Maybe I'm the one who cause the confusion :)
    If I understand you(and Erland) correctly, you suggest using a custom, domain account for application pool identity. However, if we do that, our IT will need to maintain those accounts, and they don't  want that. So I'm choosing a built-in account called
    ApplicationPoolIdentity as the application pool identity, but it's not working. Network Service, on the other hand, works, but my boss wants us to follow MS's best practice.
    What's puzzling is that according to this: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/624/application-pool-identities/, both Network Service and ApplicationPoolIdentity uses machine account to access network resource (like db in this case), but in my case, Network Service
    works, but not ApplicationPoolIdentity.
    Hallo Stephen,
    with respect - it seems to me that only idiots are working at your IT ;)... It is absolutely useful to work with "service accounts" created within the domain. That's the only way to manage and control accounts!
    If you want to "pass through" the identity of the web user (SSO) you have to check whether the app pool is set to "allow impersonate". As far as I understand the ApplicationPoolIdentity-function the app pool will create a unique user named as the service.
    I assume that will not work with the connection to the sql server because this user is unknown.
    Local Service will not work because it's restriction is located to the local machine.
    Network Service will work because access to network resources will be available.
    So my recommendation is to use a dedicated service account or impersonation:

  • Questions on using a SOAP web service's data in a Crystal Reports report

    I'm attempting to create a report using CR 2008, accessing data from a SOAP web service. I've run into a few problems, and need some advice.
    1) CR doesn't seem to support WSDL files that use relative URI imports (for example, I have a relatively complicated WSDL file that imports other WSDL files and schemas using relative URI locations). To solve this problem, I have downloaded all of the files to my local hard drive, and changed the "location" attributes to point to local files. Is there any other solution to this problem?
    2) CR doesn't seem to support circular references within schema files. To solve this problem, I have removed circular references from my local schema files. Of course, my actual web service will still potentially return data structures with these circular dependencies. Is there any other solution to this problem?
    3) CR doesn't seem to support request documents that allow for arrays of elements. For example, my schema allows the user to specify an array of Instruments that should be returned by the web service. In the meantime, I have changed the schema to only specify single instances of the Instrument element in the request. Is there any other solution to this problem?
    4) CR doesn't seem to support empty values for optional attributes that are specified in the schema. So, when the "Enter Values" parameter form appears, I am required to enter values for these attributes, even though they are listed as optional in the schema. To avoid this problem, I have commented out the optional attribute values in the schema. Is there any other solution to this problem?
    5) When the schema specifies that a value is based on a restricted simple (string) type, the CR parameter form shows a drop list with ellipses (...), but the drop list does not contain the enumerated types specified in my schema. Instead, I must manually enter a value. Do you know of any reason why the drop list is not populated?
    6) The SOAP response document from my web service is relatively complicated. So, in the "Data" page of the Standard Report Creation Wizard, each and every XML element level of the response document listed in the schema is shown as a separate entry. If I choose just the top level element ("fetchInstrumentSetResponse"), then very little data is shown on the next page of the wizard (only the ID attribute). But, if I select each and every element type from the response document, CR prompts me for the request document parameters for each row I have selected (I see the same form 30+ times), even though there really should only be a single SOAP request to the web service to return this response document. It seems to be treating each of these elements as a separate "database table", with a different query string for each. Am I using this feature incorrectly?
    If you can point me to somewhere in the documentation that handles this in more detail, that would be great (all I could find were the step-by-step instructions on how to connect to a web service as a data source).
    Thanks!

  • SOAP web service: null parameter if namespace not declared in envelope

    Hi guys,
    We are exposing a SOAP web service on WebLogic Portal 10.0. The service has one method which takes a single parameter. • 'Payload not Serializable' with custom WSDL data types in message-style web service

    I'm implementing a message-style web service which publishes to a JMS Queue.
    I had the web service built and deployed, but noticed that the "sendRequest" message's
    part was of type "xsd:anyType." This is not specific enough for our interface,
    since it is externally facing and needs to describe the object we're expecting
    on the back end.
    So I replaced xsd:anyType with mynamespace:MyType, which is defined as a complex
    type in the same WSDL document.
    My problem is that when I test the web service with the new WSDL (using the client.jar),
    I get a server-side exception from the DestinationSendAdapter.doPost() method.
    The exception reads:
    javax.servlet.ServletException: Payload not Serializable
    at weblogic.soap.server.servlet.DestinationSendAdapter.doPost(DestinationSendAdapter.java:129)
    The domain object ('classic' JavaBean) that it should map to on the server side
    extends a class that implements Serializable, so it should inherit the trait.
    So my questions are:
    1) Did I properly go about trying to restrict the object type that gets sent to
    my Destination?
    2) If no, what is the correct way? If yes, why am I receiving the Payload not
    Serializable error if the domain object implements Serializable?
    Thanks in advance.

    Resolved:
    Apparently this is the right approach, as it boiled down to a classpath issue
    on the client-side. Thanks anyway.

  • How to pass an "object" as a parameter in an web services request?

    I am developing a simple web service client and server (using Eclipse for auto code generation). I am able to pass String and Byte array from the client. However, there is a parameter "statusInfo" which is an object of the class "cz.unmz.namespaces.csn369791.SendCertificatesRequestStatusInfo" and I have no idea of how to do so.

    You want something like this:
    DECLARE
      lio_success  VARCHAR2( 2000 );
      li_id        NUMBER;
      li_dep_id    NUMBER;
      li_sel_id := NUMBER;
      li_date DATE;
      lo_date DATE;
      lio_return_message xyz_bpe_rec_fn.xyz_bpe_rec_col;
      l_ret xyz;
    BEGIN
      lio_success := 'some value';
      li_id := NULL;     -- or some number
      li_dep_id := NULL; -- or some number
      li_sel_id := NULL; -- or some number
      li_date DATE := sysdate;
      lio_return_message.col1 := somevalue;
      lio_return_message.col2 := somevalue;
      lio_return_message.coln := somevalue;
      l_ret := get_xyz( lio_success
                      , li_id
                      , li_dep_id

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    The access denied message was caused by restrictive security settings in the tomcat configuration. In this case the test server being used is a managed server provided by a third party so at our request they allowed the actions and now the web app deploys successfully.

    Process exited with exit code 0.I have googled to see if i can get any solution , i got the following information:
    Cannot Generate a Stub or Skeleton for a WSDL that Uses Certain Types (3912349)
    JDeveloper 10.1.2 only understands a subset of all of the complexTypes that can be defined in a WSDL document. For example, if the following appear in the "types" section of the WSDL, any use of those types will cause JDeveloper to generate a reference to UnknownType in a stub or skeleton:
    •     Restrictions of simpleTypes
    •     complexTypes which define attributes Does that mean that the jdeveloper will not support complex types?Could anybody tell me how to resolve the above said issue? Is there any patch that i can run to resolve the issue?

    Can i use the client generated using jdeveloper 11g to import into the oracle forms 10g, i.e., form builder 10g. Currently this is the version we have in our office.

  • Problem calling a web service

    I attempting to connect to a web service with code generated by xrpcc from a WSDL file. I am receiving this exception:
    java.rmi.RemoteException: Runtime exception; nested exception is:
            unexpected encoding style: expected=http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/enco
    ding/, actual=
            at com.sun.xml.rpc.client.StreamingSender._send(StreamingSender.java:227
    )I am guessing that there is something wrong in my WSDL. Any ideas?

    1) there is an "soap-enc" attribute in the "schema" tag within the "types" definition in the WSDL, looking for example like this:
    <types>
    - <schema targetNamespace="http://jacomac.de/types" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:tns="http://jacomac.de/types" xmlns:soap-enc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <import namespace="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" />
    - <complexType name="ArrayOfstring">
    - <complexContent>
    - <restriction base="soap-enc:Array">
    <attribute ref="soap-enc:arrayType" wsdl:arrayType="string[]" />
    </restriction>
    </complexContent>
    </complexType>
    - <complexType name="ArrayOfArrayOfstring">
    - <complexContent>
    - <restriction base="soap-enc:Array">
    <attribute ref="soap-enc:arrayType" wsdl:arrayType="tns:ArrayOfstring[]" />
    </restriction>
    </complexContent>
    </complexType>
    </schema>
    </types>
    2) but your fault could also come from the soap message format itsself. The "Envelope" has an attribute "encodingStyle". See below:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <soap-env:Envelope xmlns:soap-env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" soap-env:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"><soap-env:Body><m:getNumUsers xmlns:m="http://jacomac.de/wsdl"><String_1>rzbw0</String_1></m:getNumUsers></soap-env:Body></soap-env:Envelope>
    I hope that helps..;-)
