Web.xml system-property

Hi
i am using resin, and i need to insert a <system-property> tag in the web.xml file, but the problem is that this doesn't work.
I get an error saying that this tag is not valid.
In the Resin documentation it says that i can put this tag in app (web.xml) level or in a server level (app-default.xml)
In a server level it works fine, but i don't want to make to use this property for all applications, only to this one.
Thanks

  • How to display system property in XML forms

    Hi
    We are using XML forms template for publishing news in KM. In the show form we got author field (a label in the form) which is mapped to system property createdby (PropertyReference = /Properties/default:createdby).But while displaying the form author is not getting populated. When I try to edit the form in XML forms builder in data model tab under properties node no property is visible. Nothing is shown up in properties even after reload option is selected from context menu of properties node.
    I cheked by manually editing PropertyReference to some other property (e.g. modifiedby) but nothing is showing up.
    Can you please suggest how the createdby system property can be shown in the xml form?
    Thanks & Regards
    Sudip

    Hi Sudeep,
    Please try to open the formbuilder in another machine and try to see the properties xml form design view.
    You can even directly can create a lable in show form and add the property name along with the nama space name.
    For default properties namspace is default.Create a lable UI element in show form and select the datasource property and add the property value in that.
    With we can show file related system generated properties in show form.

    try to look on xml.apache.org for this error. There should be some pages describing how and why setup this property.
    Basically, these properties defines factories for javax extensions. javax defines interfaces and providers than supply implementations, so for example you can use different XML parsers implementations (we use Xalan for one OC4J container and original ORACLE parser for other). To bind this together they use some defined mechanism like setting system property of including special manifest file etc. (I don't know about details)

  • Multivalued system property in XML

    Hello,
    We currently want to use a multi-valued system property in a XML form. In the Edit form we created checkboxes with the values 1 to 5. In the Show form a control selector with five labels is created in order to display only the selected values. However the display in the show form is incorrect.
    If we created a xml form with only the values 1,3,5 selected the show form only displays value 5. Does anyone know how we can fix this problem? All the conditions in the XML are in line with the system property value.
    Looking forward to your reply.
    Kind regards,
    Joost Christenhusz

    Hi Federico,
    I haven't fixed it yet, but the problem is that the control selector doesn't work yet in XML. You can only display the properties using a normal label. The results will be displayed in the same row. This is not the most optimal layout, but the only one that works.
    Kind regards,
    Joost Christenhusz

  • Java property file in web.xml?

    I'm having trouble getting a web app to work resonably closely to how I expect:
    I have a property file that is accessed by the package of java classes ( under
    WEB-INF/classes). In the classes ( package com.th.lifeinsruance ) i have a property
    file which is referenced in the java code as com.th.lifeinsurance.xx.properties.
    It seems the only place that wl6.0 is prepared to look for this property file
    is under the /weblogic6.0 dir ( i.e totally outside the web app!!). I would guess
    that I'm supposed to register this property file in web.xml for the app however
    the only examples refer to DataSources and so on ( to set a resource). Is this
    correct? Does someone have an example of a java property file being read correctly
    in its package with the .class files?
    Many Thanks
    Mark

    I've some other solution for the same problem which is working fine for me.
    1) make a jar file only consisting of the properties file
    jar -cvf DescriptionBundle.jar  DescriptionBundle.properties
    2) copy the jar file to the /dist/Portal-inf/lib folder
    3) Use the following code to get the ResourceBundle
    Locale locale = null;
    Locale locale = null;
    locale = Locale.US;
    servletReq.getSession().setAttribute("myLocale", locale);
    ResourceBundle bundle = ResourceBundle.getBundle("DescriptionBundle", locale);
    if (bundle == null) {
         logger.warning("bundle is null");
    for (Enumeration e = bundle.getKeys(); e.hasMoreElements();) {
         String key = (String) e.nextElement();
         String s = bundle.getString(key);
         servletReq.getSession().setAttribute(key, s);
         logger.info("Key is" + key + "value is" + s);
    This solution doesn't suit  the title of the topic but is another way to access the properties files.

  • How to give relative path in web.xml?

    Hi All,
    Im creating a servlet which has to load the properties file.
    I don't want to give the location of the properties file as ABSOLUTE PATH. But I'm unable to provide the same as RELATIVE PATH.
    When I give the path is given as ABSOLUTE PATH (drive:/dir/) it is working. But if I give the RELATIVE PATH(../), the same is not working.
    Kindly help me in this.

    Hi.
    Exclude the directory path from the <param-value/> in
    the web.xml and just keep the property file name.
    Place the property file in the classpath and load it
    like this from the servlet:
    Properties props = new Properties();
    String propFileName = "" // Read param-value from web.xml
    try {
    InputStream is = TheServlet.class.getResourceAsStream(propFileName);
    props.load(is);
    } catch (Exception ex) {
    System.out.println("Prop file not in classpath!");

    You can specify the path to the file as a system property
              eg
              java -Dconfig.file.location=./mydirecotry/myfile.txt com.test.MyApp

  • Setting up java.system.property in WL 6.0

    Hi all,
    I just installed Web Logic 6.0. I would like to know if anyone knows how
    to set java.system.property in Web Logic 6.0
    In old Web Logic 5.1, I added this line in weblogic.properties file. Now
    since we don't have weblogic.properties file anymore, I am assuming this
    should go in config.xml. Documentation says I should use Admin Console
    to modify config.xml and to convert old weblogic.properties file, but I
    found Admin Console confusing.
    My Web Logic 6.0 is installed on d:\bea\. I clicked on Convert
    Weblogic.properties and I see directories on my system. I click on icon
    to get the directory that has weblogic.properties file. Then I get page
    that ask me to pick Clusters and Server and I have no idea what
    directory I need to click on
    If someone knows what to do next or how to edit Config.xml so that I can
    add my java.system.property, please e-mail me
    Thanks in advance
    Qaiser

    Did you see the directions on page 3-11 of the WLS 6.0 Administration Guide? I
    followed these steps, and was able to create a new domain. I found them to be
    clear.

    What are the steps, or where can I find better documentation on creating

    From my understanding this is not what you should do. The Welcome page is used when no specific page of the application is given in the url. It can either be a jspx page or a html page. A task flow may contain a page, but is not a page. From this definition I conclude that you should not do this.
    One other reason is that is you use security you secure a task flow (as a whole resource) and the welcome page is the entry point giving the use the ability to log in (so it is not secured). The welcome page might also be the landing page after a logout.

  • In Web.xml  welcome file tag not works

    Hi All ,

    but when use jsp page without to having any property it works.
    what the problem with me
    Thanks

    Hi Frank
    Thank you for your reply.
    This is how I registered the session filter in web.xml
    <filter>
    <filter-name>SessionFilter</filter-name>
    <filter-class>com.avery.view.filter.SessionFilter</filter-class>
    </filter>
    <filter-mapping>
    <filter-name>SessionFilter</filter-name>
    <url-pattern>/faces/*.jsf</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>
    I'll try to use phaselisenter as you suggested.
    Also, one more thing please, in the session filter, I have something like this.
    public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response,
    FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException {
    System.out.println("JF--- Calling the Filter");
    if (request instanceof HttpServletRequest) {
    HttpServletRequest httpRequest = (HttpServletRequest)request;
    HttpServletResponse httpResponse = (HttpServletResponse)response;
    HttpSession session = httpRequest.getSession();
    String url = httpRequest.getPathTranslated();
    String path = httpRequest.getContextPath() + httpRequest.getServletPath();
    if (httpRequest.getRequestURI().equals(path+"/Login")) {
    System.out.println(" the request path is" + httpRequest.getRequestURI().toString());
    session.setAttribute("WELCOME", Boolean.TRUE);
    chain.doFilter(request, response);
    else if (session.getAttribute("WELCOME") == null){
    httpResponse.sendRedirect(path+"/Login");
    else {
    chain.doFilter(request, response);
    else {
    chain.doFilter(request, response);
    Do you think it looks right ?
    thanks

  • Problem when integrating Web based system

    I want to integrate a web based system.I tried to use appintegrater, but my web system only has one page that accept URL parameters to let you login.
    So, I need to try Http system and URL iView. There is an "Authentication URL" property in http system, does that mean  I can fill in the page which accepts URL parameters, and fill the "URL Parameter for Password" and "URL Parameter for User Name". Then ,when I want to access any page through this http system, will the system login to the web system use the properties defined first?
    I've tried this method, but failed. I don't know if the method will work? If not, anybody can give some suggestion?

    Hi,
    there is no out of the box solution for a xml export. So you got 2 options.
    First :
    Use the SDK and create your own export solution, which will executed whiled printing / inserting a order.
    Second :
    Use a third party addon like coresuite, which allows you to create a batch including VB scripts. So if you press print, the batch job creates the printout and a xml file for your export to the web services.
    Perhaps your issue could also solved by using the XL-reporter, but i do not know exactly which functions the XL-reporter has.

  • Cannot set a weblogic system property in batch

    Hello All,
    I'm running an weblogic application on weblogic 8.1 SP1. The application uses
    UTF-8 data from a mssql database. The problem is that weblogic 8.1 SP1 does not
    show UTF-8 data correctly. I've read docs and found that in order to make sure
    that weblogic's output is in UTF-8 I can configure a weblogic system property
    like that:
    add -Dweblogic.webservice.i18n.charset="utf-8" into JAVA_OPTIONS in startweblogic.cmd
    batch file. But during the process of starting it shows me the following:
    <10.10.2003 20:08:50 NOVST> <Warning> <Management> <BEA-141087> <Unrecognized
    pr
    operty: webservice.i18n.charset.>
    I also do not see changes in weblogic's behaviour (IMHO it should add charset=utf-8
    to Content-type header of each response to clients.
    However on weblogic 7.0 SP1 everything works without adding this option, but when
    I add it the server claims again that it's unrecognized and I see no effect in
    the HTTP headers of the server response.
    PLease help me to investigate this issue!
    Thanks for any help
    Dmitry.

    Hello,
    You are setting the charset value (UTF-8) correctly. The <Warning>
    message from the server startup can be safely ignored.
    The server should respond to the charset provided by the client. You
    can also set the charset on the web service using charset attribute of
    the <web-service> element in the web-services.xml file. See:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/webserv/i18n.html
    Have you tried setting the "-Dweblogic.webservice.i18n.charset=utf-8" on
    the client?
    Use the "-Dweblogic.webservice.verbose=true" flag to help diagnose this
    issue. See: http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/webserv/trouble.html
    Hope this helps,
    Bruce
