Webcam snapshot tutorial
I did this tutorial

part 1 works fine, I see the webcam and it works. Now all I
need is to make a snapshot, however it just doens't work, altough I
tried everything that it says there...
just download the Fla file, publish it and click on the black
button, nothing happens, altough it's setup like in the tutorial

any idea what I did wrong?? thanks!!

I have the webcam feed working fine. On one frame I put the
code and i have defined a movieclip with the name snap_btn. It
creates the blank bitmap but won't fill it with the image. I don't
think the button works either.

I'm mildly familiar with action script. I would like to take
a snapshot from the local webcam and have a preview of the captured
image on the stage, and then upload the captured image to a
ColdFusion server to be saved as a jpg.
After searching online I've found many examples but none of
them work for me. At this time I can only show webcam on the stage.
Could someone help? Thanks in advance!There is currently a problem (internal bug #2589240) where webcam resolution cannot be increased beyond 320x240 on linux. Webcam SnapShot button click event
Hello,
I want to know if there is an ActionEvent or EventListener or something
like that for the snapshot button on a webcam, such that when I press the
button on the webcam, JMF executes a chunk of code, just like it would if I
had pressed a mouse button, or a key on the keyboard.
I am currently using creative webcam nx ultra...

I have the exact same problem. I am pretty sure Java will not provide such event support, unless digging the jUSB/JSR-80 stuff. I actually had a quick look at that and I am not even sure what to expect from it.
In any case, if you found any way to receive the snpashot button events (or any workaround), I'd be happy to hear from it!

Everytime I try to take a picture, an old snapshot keeps appearing. It refuses to save my new picture.? basically all the pictures I take on my webcam saves as this old snapshot!!! Anyone can help??!!
Just remove the "IMAQ Dispose" and it will certainly work better.
What flows in the image wire is ot the actual image data, but a pointer to the image, so the display on the front panel receives the pointer and go get the image data to display it.
The issue in the VI you posted is that you don't really know when the "IMAQ dispose" will execute, so if if it executes after the "IMAQ create image", the image buffer is released and there is no image data to be displayed.

I'm looking to see if anyone had some code for an application that could, when run take a snapshot using my webcam, save the photo, and then exit. I'm very new to jmf and have tried to siplify owens program but am having toomuch difficulty. if someone could help me I need this to help me with a larger project. Thanks.

Capture webcam snapshot as bitmap and send to server
I have a local webcam stream appearing on the stage in a
movieclip.
When I click a "snapshot button", a still image from the
webcam gets attached to a new movieclip on the stage with
attachbitmap and then draw()
The snapshot shows up in the movieclip on the stage as a
preview.
I want to know how to send the data of this bitmap in the
movieclip to a server (php or coldfusion) to be saved as a JPEG.
I can't figure out how to access the bmp data and send it to

I am working on a locally run flash application that is very
similar to your post about wanting to save a snapshot of a local
webcam. Could you share your code for doing that or explain your
steps? I would like to have a webcam running then take a snapshot
of the webcam with a button and then email the saved snapshot. My
main interest is how you created the snapshot and button for it.

I am using Flash Builder 4.6, BlazeDS, and Hibernate. How to store a webcam snapshot into the MySql Database. I stored Form Items by using RemoteObject into the database. But I failed to store webcam snapshot. I captured that image on Panel component.I converted that image to ByteArray. Now I want to save that image into the database. Please help me in this regard.

I am using Flash Builder 4.6, BlazeDS, and Hibernate. How to store a webcam snapshot into the MySql Database. I stored Form Items by using RemoteObject into the database. But I failed to store webcam snapshot. I captured that image on Panel component.I converted that image to ByteArray. Now I want to save that image into the database. Please help me in this regard.

Date/Time Stamp to Capture Image
Has anyone know how to stamp Date and Time into the webcam snapshot?
I don't know about IMAQ, but the picture subpallete (inside Graphics & Sound) has a "Draw text in rect" VI. You can get the text using "Get Date\Time String" from the Time & Dialog palette. If you have IMAQ, I assume you have an equivalent function or that you can convert an IMAQ image into LV pic format and then do what I suggested.

I'm working on a project in LV 2009 and I'm trying to use an opencv dll for facetracking. The problem is that I keep getting an error massage (1097), and I can't figure out what the problem is. Here's the C code for the dll and the block diagram. When I start it, it asks for a webcam, but then it shots down. When I run the facedetection on a static image it works well, but it doesn't work with the webcam. I think the easiest solution could b if I could take a snapshot in labview, and then send the static image to the dll, but I couldn't manage to make the webcam snapshot static.
Could anyone help me?

thanks for the help, I already checked and tried every variation of calling the dll... The problem is that this is basically a face detector program with a webcam, which means it should run continuously, but it doesn't. The dll gets data about the webcam picture (size, depth, etc.), because it needs them to create an exactly same kind of image than the webcams. When the dll part "starts", it asks for a camera, I tell it which one to use (obviously the same as for the LV part), but then it sends me the 1097 error code, and the program stops (labview does not shot down, but I have to restart it and I need to replug the camera a well). Th LV part works well, it has no trouble with opening or closeing the webcam session. I attached the hole block diagram. (I think the problem might be with the memory and the storage of the opencv, somehow it maybe use the same as the LV)

Image capture for web-browsers out-of-the-box -- really no hopes?
Hi all,
I planned to extend user's interface for my web2.0 app with a webcam. It looks for me like JMF is the only framework, which promises a multiplatform usage for web-surfers. Therefore, I tried some JMF code and some JMF samples already. However it looks for me now like one should rather forget about the installers providing an "out-of-the-box webcam support ready for housewives". I'd wish i am wrong.
Would you believe one can really make a simple installer enabling browsers like firefox, ie, safari and opera to upload a webcam snapshot by a single mouse click?

Welcome to the forums and sorry to hear about your sound trouble.
To check what's going on, can you provide these additional info:
1. What's the model of your lenovo unit (eg. Y50-70)
2. When you play a music file (ie. iTunes or YouTube), is the volume fluctuating but there's no sound comming from the built-in speakers?

If the speakers are enabled and the volume is fluctuating, this means that the sound adapter is okay and there's most likely a problem with the speakers. To check, try to:
a. Use an earphone or an external speaker and observe if you can hear a sound
b. Press the Windows Key +X and choose Device Manager. On the Device Manager window, navigate to Sound, video and game controllers and uninstall the sound adapter (ensure that you delete the device driver). When finished, do a scan for hardware changes. Windows will now use a generic sound driver and observe if you can how hear a sound from the built-in speakers

Receiving Image via socket and creating via byte[]...
Hi Folks...
I�m trying to send a WebCam SnapShot to my Midlet running in a PDA via socket..
The method used to send the Image is:
BufferedImage img = toBufferedImage( getScreenShot( getFrameBuffer() ) );
byte[] buf = convertImage( toBufferedImage( img ) );
BASE64Encoder enc64 = new BASE64Encoder();
enc64.encode(buf);

}So this code get a snapShot from the webCam and returns a BufferedImage. This BufferedImage is converted to a byte[], and later this byte[] is encoded in Base64 format with BASE64Encoder.
In the next step the buffer is sent to the client, the server send the message "IMAGEM", in the sequence the size off the byte[] and then the byte[].

It receives the size off the byte[] and then receive the array.
When I try to create the image using Image.createImage( byte[], int, int ) the exception IllegalArgumentException is throwed...
The exception doesnt have a message...
What is wrong ?

I'm sorry for your unfortunate situation. This question is asked time and time again - sadly no, you cannot set up "Find my Mac" after it's lost or stolen. The whole point is that you have to set it up before you lose contact with it.
When you get a new Mac, this is one of the first screens you see - "Do you want to set up iCloud to Find My Mac?". I don't understand why anyone would answer "No".
There are third-party location utilities, but again, you have to set them up when the computer is still in your possession. I use Undercover by Orbicule - allows you to locate the computer and take webcam snapshots and keylogs of the person using it. I also have iCloud set up, so I have two options for location should it get lost or stolen.
