WebEngine WebSockets support

Hello,
I'm doing some tests with JavaFX (2.2 beta) and the [vert.x|http://vertx.io/] project, and I succeeded to run some vert.x Groovy examples (SockJS and Eventbus Bridge) using a WebView component as a way to communication with a vert.x server.
I noticed that WebSocket.OPEN (used in JavaScript code embedded in HTML content) is not recognized by the WebEngine.
So, my supposition is that WebSocket is not again supported by JavaFX 2.
Am I wrong? Is there a plan for this support?

Websockets are enabled in WebView in Java8.

There is no in between JavaScript client recommendation. For Websockets to work in WebView, the function must be enabled in WebView, it can't be enabled by a JavaScript library running in WebView alone.
You can use Websockets from JavaFX outside of WebView as pointed out by an earlier post in this thread.

Hi, does this version of safari support websockets. I get an http 400 on a websocket open. (bad request), with a subsequent immediate close. I see lots of stuff (this is the only browser where I have the problem) on the web where the necessary headers aren't sent, and that only the 8 and 13 header versions are supported (which are not sent in my case). If not supported, is there any outlook for the future ???

What are Azure limitations for Websockets in Cloud Services (web and worker role)?

A WebSocket Server should be built on Azure platform with OnPrem connections and have questions regarding limitations for Websockets in Azure Cloud Services - web and worker roles.
Websockets can be configured for Web Sites and limitations are understood, but Azure Websites is not an option.
Nevertheless it is planned to run a web service (without UI - no web site) as a Cloud service which has secure websocket (WSS) connections to OnPrem machines. Websocket protocol is enabled for IIS8 on Cloud services web and worker roles. Azure Service Bus Relay
is not an option.
Questions:
1) Are Websockets supported for Azure Cloud services web and worker roles? we assume yes
2) What are potential limitations from Azure side to support concurrent Websocket connections? We are aware that CPU, memory etc are limitations, but are there additional limitations from MS Azure side?

As I know, azure cloud service web and worker role support Websockets, users can connect to the role via the special endpoint, if we use Azure cloud service, I think we can monitor the metrics such as CPU, memory, etc... and scale our cloud service via these
metrics to keep the websockets working, refer to

WSS:// Secure Websocket

Hello,
I have an issue. When using web sockets over https with firefox and IE i'll get a message saying that connection is insecure. However with chrome or safari the websocket is connected reguardless. I think it has to do with one protocol being ws and the other being wss. Is the wss websocket supported? Any work-arounds (aside from redirecting the user away from https) on the pages i want to use websockets. Thanks for all your help

How to ensure websockets feature was been set up in right way in Glassfish

I'm writing websockes application with Grizzly 1.9.5 API and I have a problem connection status of websockets is CLOSED when I try to establish server connection with browser.
I have websockets support enabled for listeners of my Glassfish server in a way described in manuals and I'm looking a way to find what is wrong here with my websockts.

Websocket's work bad on Windows 8.

I try to test websocket supports in Firefox 16.
1. Open http://www.websocket.org/echo.html
2. Click "Connect" -> Web socket opened correctly
3. Click "Send" -> Packet sended, but response not receaved.
4. Click "Send" 3-7 times. -> Profit. Firefox receaved all responses. After this websocket work.
This behavior of websockets is unacceptable in a web applications.
Websocket in Google Chrome work corrent.

Works here in Firefox 16.0.2, both normal and secure.
Did you try this in a new and clean profile?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

I'm running an application that receive some messages (mail)
I'm running under server 2012.
For some reason the messages are stop to being received due to the session that is being closed.
i can read the log saying:
HTTPS ReceiveProcess(): Null segement received
Closing session, dispatch Timer: 60000 ms.
The underlying connection was closed: A connection that was expected to be kept alive was closed by the
server
Changing session Thread Time from 60 000ms to 2000ms.
BatapWebService socket closed.
Can anyone tell me how to fix that it's very annoyin that is closing the connexion and my messages are not
being received.
I need to restart the server each time to be able to receive all messages.
is that a parameter i have to change?

What exactly is the application?
What is giving you the error? Is there a specific Event ID number and Source name?
I haven't seen a segmentation error in quite some time. The last time I saw one it was due to an app trying to do something on the OS side that the OS didn't like. I believe DEP protected it, but it was long ago and I don't fully remember the details. It
was a custom written app and the programmers corrected it.
I'm not a dev, so I can't help with the app itself.

Will FireFox 5 have support for websockets?

I was just wondering if Firefox 5 will have support for websockets enabled or will it continue to be disabled like in Firefox 4?

As stated on the bottom of the page: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/WebSockets, it's disabled in Firefox 4 and 5 because of a security problem, but will be enabled by default on Firefox 6

When will Firefox 7 support websockets (like Safari and Chrome)?

A test query to websockets.org echo test gets the result: "...the browser doesn't have native support for WebSocket". The same test using Safari or Chrome on a Mac results in: "This browser supports WebSocket". Same problem whether on OS X 10.6 or 10.7. When will Firefox 7 catch up to Safari and Chrome?

In Firefox you need to use MozWebSocket.

Is html5 dnd really supported in WebView?

Hi,
While testing dnd support in WebView, I faced a strange behavior regarding the transferable data retrieved.
The data is always "*undefined*" in WebView, and is correct under other browsers...
Any idea? Workaround?

I played around with this a little bit using your example and the behaviour of JavaFX seemed buggy to me.
If I set the data type to Text, I could reproduce the undefined message in the drop box. I thought maybe it just wasn't looking up the event target id ok, so I changed to set the text to a static string, and the behaviour was still the same (still printed undefined in the drop box). I thought I'd try a well defined data type of text/plain rather than Text, and then I didn't get undefined in the drop box, but I didn't get the text displayed there either, just nothing at all. Additionally the drag initiation seemed buggy and only worked for me sometime all of the time I was trying it. For instance, a lot of the time rather than the drag cursor, I'd end up with a selection being done or a text insert caret which prevented the use of of the drag and drop function as it seemed the drag and drop wasn't initialized. Only on the fifth or sixth attempt would a drag seem to be initiated. So I wouldn't really advise making use of html5 dnd in your app until you file some bugs on this at http://javafx-jira.kenai.com and they are fixed.

Using WebEngine + WebView as rich HTML control?

Has anyone tried using WebEngine/WebView to create (static) content which can mix text with images?
What I would want is a reflow capable control where I can put in styled text (different styles, sizes, fonts) and some Images to go along with it and have the text nicely reflow around the images. Since HTML has been capable of doing this for ages, and since I donot think even a new RichText control will be able to mix images and text (and certainly not offer all the other features in HTML, like tables, etc..), I think the WebView could fill this gap.
Getting the HTML page itself inside the control is easy, using the loadContent methods... but what about the Images? I would need some kind of hook to supply Images (directly from a database or from memory, no intermediate URL downloading step) to the WebEngine, but there doesn't seem to be one.
I suppose I could set up a local webserver and point my 'img src' tags to that to get what I want, but perhaps there is an easier way?

Java has so rich capability that you can do anything. To load the images in WebView you need to first must make sure that the image must be in your application package or on other resources.
I think you problem is to load the images in Webview which is just inside your application. Let's assume you app directory is like this

Java FX 2.2 WebEngine

Hi everyone,
I'm using WebEngine and WebView classes for manipulating with html pages (JavaFX 2.2).
As far as I know, there is embedded WebKit browser underneath. I would like
to change parameters for WebKit like User-Agent, ... Is there any possibility how
to do that? Today I went throught javadoc and I wasn't able to find something.
Where WebKit embedded JavaFX is looking for configuration, cookies ...? I have checked
implementation of WebKit for Qt, Python, ... and everywhere there was possibility
to take settings from WebKit and change these settings.

I have supposed that webkit somewhere should store configurations. In the case I would like to use plugins (adobe, flash, ...) how should I do it without some configuration directory where everything will be stored?WebView does not support plugins and probably never will officially support them (due to the potential increase in the security vulnerability surface).
I don't think it is worthwhile to think of WebView as WebKit (even though it uses a customized WebKit implementation under the cover to achieve a lot of, but not all of, it's current functionality). I'd advise thinking of WebView as an html component for Java for which the only API available is publicly exposed through the WebView and WebEngine classes. That way you won't be under any misconceptions about what it can and cannot do.

Webengine question about image renditions

I know that I can define any number of image sizes in a webengine. What I want to know is, is there a way to define a size and only have one of the images (or just a certain nunmber but not all of the images) in a gallery collection rendered in that size? Right now I have a gallery that has a main page with a single image that links to a set of grid pages that link to the individual image pages. I can create the main page with the image that I want but when I define the size for that image and the directory to store it, LR renders all of the images in the gallery collection that size in that directory. So I end up with a number of superfluous images. How do I prevent that from happening? How do I cause only the images I use to be rendered in a particular size?

Websites tell me I can't use websockets

Hey,
mutiple sites tell me that the browser doesn't support websockets.
First I saw this at the pushbullet add-on. There I thought it was a site-specific problem.
But now I tried IPython notebook, and the erro came again.
I tried http://www.websocket.org/echo.html and the same again.
But http://caniuse.com/websockets tells me that it should be supported.
Checked both in normal and in safe-mode, so it isn't an add-on problem.
Firefox Developer works with this sites.

Error while creating a support message in satellite system

Hi,
I am facing an error while sending a support message to solman form the satellite system
(( Error Description : Error in Local Message System: Error when opening
an RFC connection Message was Not Created ))
1) I gone through various threads and set the required authorizations like
SAP_SUPPDESK_CREATE and
SAP_SV_FDB_NOTIF_BC_ADMIN ,
SAP_SUPPDESK_ADMIN
for the user in the solman .
2) I checked the RFC connection and it is working fine.
Anyone pls help me to resolve this issue
