Weblogic EAR deployment before resource initialization

Hi All,
Our application deployment is failing while "starting all services". One of our bean is trying to obtain & initializing a queue in the ejbCreate method (bcos this is a migration project so we are not using the annotations) and it is unable to locate that name in the JNDI tree. After enabling the weblogic jms logs from the console, I could see that the queue's JNDI name is getting binded only at the end of the intiialization, hence the the progrme is unable to obtain the queue instance and failing with NameNotFoundException. I have tried keeping the resource-ref in the ejb-jar to defining the dependency, however it doesn't seems to be working.
Is there anyway, we can specify the deployment priority ?
Thanks in Advance.
Saji

Hi Jay & James,
Thanks for your response. Let me try answer your questions in a single reply.
James,
"Are you using an application module instead of a system module to define your JMS queue?"
No, we are using the system module only, but after seeing your question, I have read thru the application module which looks to be bit complex to adopt at this stage as this is a migration project. Moreover I am not able understand how the the application become active before the resourse initialization.
Jay,
As you correctly pointed in your response, the application become active before the JMS module initialization. I am facing multiple issues due to this.
1. MDB's are failing initially but once the server is fully started then it becomes connected state.
2. Even I face the same issue for my jms-xa-adp.rar and jms-notran-adp.rar deployment.
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Unable to resolve 'eis.jms.WLSConnectionFactoryJNDINoTX'
3. Some of my EJB beans are trying to obtain a queue instances (in ejbCreate Method as the initial-bean-in-free-pool =1 ) which are also failing with NameNotFoundException.
I have tried defining the resource-ref in the ejb-jar and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml but still no luck. These issues were not faced when our application was running on weblogic 8. The setup was exactly same.
How do I make my application active active after all my resource is initialized.
Please help.

    Obviously, the WAR file cannot be opened by Weblogic, but why and how to solve it ... have no clue. We went through almost everything in Internet, regarding this issue, but we couldn't find a solution.
    Every idea or suggestion is more than welcome because I'm running out of ideas :(

    Did you perhaps do something like FTP the EAR file to the RedHat box in text mode or something? Can you check that the file size of the file on RedHat is the same as it was on Windows?

    Thanks David and weblogicRocks..
    David,
    I have installed the workshop also during installation. Actually I have searched for the class which is missing from the weblogic 9.2 installation folder. The missing class is is in different package path in weblogic 9.2 (knex81.jar) as shown below. Also, this class is generated by workshop while building in 8.1. So, I think I have to rebuild the work file in 9.2 to avoid referring to this class.
    Missing Class location (weblogic 8.1) (knex.jar): com/bea/wlw/runtime/core/bean/SLSBContainerBean
    Missing Class location (weblogic 9.2) (knex81.jar): com/bea/wlw/knex/runtime/core/bean/SLSBContainerBean
    weblogicRocks,
    I saw in the weblogic site that the webservices built from 8.1 will still work in 9.2 with out the need for changing the code. Pls, let me know whether I need to rebuild them on 9.2. If yes, I have used .jws files(sample class definition below) for my webservices and I came to know that in 9.2 new jws annotations are added, do I need to change my source code to add any new annotations so as to work in 9.2? Also, I have used wlwBuildTask using Ant to build the code in 8.1 and this task is not available in 9.2. Let me know what all I need to change for webservices created from workshop to migrate to 9.2. I am really struggling in resolving the issues as it is very urgent for me. Appreciate you quick response.
    Below is my .jws webserice class definition.
    public class MyWebService implements com.bea.jws.WebService
    private String reqImpl;
    * @common:operation
    * @jws:conversation phase="none"
    public String submitRequest(String var)
    <Method Logic>
    }

  • WebLogic Server EAR Deployment Queries!

    Hi All,
    I have few queries with respect to EAR deployment in BEA WebLogic Server
    a) we have a requirement wherein we need to deploy the modified EAR file to one node in a cluster, whereas the other node will still continue to use the old EAR file. Is that possible in a production environment?
    b) we also have a requirement wherein we need to bring down the cluster and start the servers as independent servers instead of a clustered servers from command line without logging into the weblogic server console
    c) we have one more requirement wherein we have all the configuration xml files for each web application in a EAR File. We need a way to deploy the configuration xml file separately if there is a change only to the configuration xml file. Is that possible?
    Also, we need to deploy a specific web application in a EAR file instead of re-creating the EAR again. Like an emergency release of one or more web application in a EAR.
    d) Is that possible to update the JAR file and WAR file dynamically which are deployed as part of the EAR file.
    Any pointers to info source will be REALLY appreciated.
    Wiating for your reply.

    Right, you're referencing the Taglib 1.2 DTD, but your tld file conforms
    to the Taglib 1.1 DTD. You'll either need to change the DOCTYPE
    definition to the Taglib 1.1 DTD or change the tld file to conformto

    Otherwise, you'll need to change the tld file to be JSP 1.2 compliant.
    If you post your tld file here, then I can help.
    Iam just guessing here, is it may be due to this DTD/.tld issue thatiam not been
    able to DEPLOY the .ear file(now that wls8.1 checks the validity beforedeloying
    the app)....are the 2 errors that iam getting, in any ways inter-related?
    I'm not sure they're related. It is possible.
    i.e is it possible that due to DTD/.tld ....am i getting this NoClassDefFoundError
    JUST CURIOUS ???

    the manifest class-path isn't working for you. That's why I askedif

    Another odd thing. When I deploy the ear file to the admin server rather than
    the cluster, that
    deploys without a hitch. However, I still can't deploy to the cluster. Please

    Rob, thanks for the reply. I am indeed trying to generate the code on
    the server
    side during
    deployment. Running ejbc on the jar works fine when running outside
    the server.
    I get no
    errors. What would be the reason that the server can't find the files
    it generated.

    It looks like you haven't run ejbc/appc on the ejb-jar before deploying
    (or you ran them with a different version) so WLS is generating code

    the server-side. It generated the code but then failed to load the
    classes it generated.
    What happens when your run java weblogic.ejbc (or weblogic.appc if
    you're using 8.1) on your ejb-jar outside of the server?

  • Ear access standalone Resource Adapter problem

    I deployed a standalone resource adapter. Then I deployed a ear.
    In the ear, I try to look up the resource adapter, I got an exception:
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: No Object found: MyRA|null
    In weblogic-ra.xml, I added:
    <enable-global-access-to-classes>true</enable-global-access-to-classes>
    but still have the problem.
    However, when I embeded the RA in the ear and deploy the ear, I can get the RA by lookup()
    Is there anyway I can get successfully look up the standalone RA?
    P.S.
    My problem seems to be similar with an earlier post "Access Resource Adaptar outside the EAR".
    Access Resource Adaptar outside the EAR
    My problem is different.
    I lookup the RA in an ear deployed in the server.
    However, I'm not using EJB to lookup the RA.
    server version: weblogic server 11g r1
    Thanks a lot

    My RA runs correctly after deployment, I can see my RA in the JNDI tree.
    I just did some more tests.
    I use the following way to look up:
    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
    ConnectionFactory cf = (ConnectionFactory) ctx.lookup("MyConnectionFactory");
    If I look up it in an EJB, I can get the object.
    But when I look up in a servlet, no object can be found.
    The servlet is in a war embeded in the ear.

  • Deploying a resource adapter

    Hello,
    i have developed and successfully deployed a resource adapter. But as i went on developing i encountered some strange behaviour.
    In the DeployTool that i used to deploy the adapter i have build the archives again and deployed the EAR to the WAS 640 successfully. But if i ran my Test coding against it, my changes have not be set online.
    So i deleted the DeployProject and created a new one, that i deployed to the was640 and now my changes are online.
    I have searched for a refresh button to load updated resources, but i could not find any. Did i miss anything in the DeployTool? Besides the DeployTool also comes up with some error messages like IOException, FileNotFound from a generated file *.mf!
    Is it possible to deploy a resource adapter from within the NetWeaver Studio? Or anything else, that is more stabil?
    Best regards
    Christian

    Hi Christian,
    Currently there's no straight-forward way to add a resource adapter (RAR) into an application project (EAR) in the NW Developer Studio. But you can build the JAR of the connector Java project, build the EAR for the application project (it can contain also the JAR of your EJB module project), then rename the connector JAR to RAR and add it manually to the EAR file, and modify the application.xml as you already did
    <module>
    <connector>raresourceDB.rar</connector>
    </module>
    (You don't have to use the alternative DD option.)
    Then you can use any of the tools mentioned above to deploy the EAR. The simplest (and most reliable) way is via the J2EE telnet console, but you can also use the Admin Tool or the SDM GUI.
    Hope it helps,
    Vladimir

  • Disappearing weblogic.xml deployment descriptor elements

    Using WebLogic 8.1 SP1
    We have an application that we deploy with a weblogic.xml file. This file has
    half-a-dozen deployment descriptor elements, and for some reason I'm unaware of,
    several of the parameters specified by these elements are set to their default
    values, and these elements don't show up in the weblogic.xml deployment decriptor
    when displayed from within the WebLogic Server console. When deploying an exploded
    EAR, I can change the value to something non-default , look at the deployment
    descriptor and the element appears; change it back and the element is gone.
    Is this expected behavior? Is there any configuration setting to display all
    the elements no matter the value?
    Thanks.

  • How do you package and deploy a resource adapter with a c++ library?

    I am using Weblogic 8.1 and am trying to deploy a resource adapter that has a platform dependent c++ library. This has to be done from a script so I am using weblogic.Deployer. I don’t want to have to stop weblogic, set the lib path, restart weblogic, and then deploy. How can I accomplish this?

    With this additional information, what I'd do about the CMSG is to make
    an array of uInt8 that is sixteen elements in size. You will be able to
    transfer the bytes to and from t
    he array by using indexing. Wire the
    array to the function for the second parameter and set it to pass the
    data by pointer. I have no idea what is supposed to be int he struct
    when the function is passed, but if you cast between a matching cluster
    and the array, you will need to swap the first bytes for the long
    parameter. Same goes for reading the results back from the array after
    the call.

  • Deployment of resource

    Hi,
    i'm using the ClassLoader.getResourceAsStream() method to load .xsl files that are on my classpath. However when deploying to a WAR-file (or successively to an EAR file) the resources aren't copied to the WEB-INF/classes directory. (The .class files are).
    Does anybody know how to fix this in JDev 9.0.2. I rather not manually add the files to the archives.
    Regards,
    Robert Willems

    Okay, i have a solution. Just add your own classes directory as a library to your project. Then deploy that libary aswell (using 'deploy all' (or something like that option).
