Weblogic HTTP handler problems

Recently I had the following problem with an application which
makes ALOT of outgoing HTTP requests - with Weblogic's HTTP handler
it was resulting in sporadic deadlocks, but using Sun's handler
completely cured the problem. (5.1, sp6 on Solaris, not reproduceable
on Windows 2k).
Is that a bug?
Dimitri

I just got the problem. Help needed. Thanks

Arghhh...
When I try to uninstall WebLogic Platform the uninstaller errors out
saying "No
installation of WebLogic Platform found!, aborting"
I figured the install had problems so I tried reinstalling it to another
directory.
The installation went fine. I immediately tried to uninstall it and
got the
same error. Has anyone seen this or have a suggestion as to how to uninstall
the software.
it is driving me nuts.

  • URGENT HELP on HTTP Handler class from WebLogic

              Hi,
              We are using a configuration where Weblogic is behind a firewall
              and we are making http calls to hosts on the same
              internal network and to hosts on the Internet. For Internet hosts
              we make the http calls pass thru a firewall configured to act as
              a proxy.
              The way you do it is use JVM settings http.proxyHost, http.proxyPort
              and http.nonProxyHosts.
              Now I found that the JVM setting "http.nonProxyHosts"
              is ignored by the weblogic http url connection class resulting
              in
              packets intended for local hosts being sent to the firewall/proxy
              and obviously getting rejected. This happens because Weblogic uses
              its own Http URL Connection class from weblogic.net.http.HttpURLConnection.
              This replaces Sun provided defualt HttpURLConnection class which
              works fine
              Is this a known problem in Version 5.1 sp8 on Solaris
              7 ? How can I make http calls (using java.net classes) to
              internal hosts directly when "http.proxyHost" property is set ?
              PLEASE HELP !!
              Thanks
              Atish

    There were quite a few problems reported here when using WebLogic's
              handlers for outgoing HTTP (and HTTPS) connection - all can be
              easily avoided by using Sun's implementation:
              streamhandler = get reference to a sun's stream handler
              URL url = new URL(null, urlString, streamhandler);
              URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();

  • Weblogic 10.0 Problems with stripes/struts

    When trying to deploy the sample application for the stripes framework on weblogic 10.0 I get the following error when deploying.
    <Dec 3, 2009 12:16:51 PM CET> <Error> <HTTP> <BEA-101165>

    Problem instantiating default configuration objects.I actually had to switch to using the Sun JDK to get this error. JRockit does not report it, and just fails when I try to use the application. The problem appear to be weblogic 10.0 specific. No problems with jetty or tomcat, and I've heard reports that it is resolved in weblogic 10.3. Have ayone come accross similar problems when using stripes/struts on weblogic 10.0, and found a solution to this? Is there a patch available for 10.0 than fix this?
    Regards
    Morten
    PS: I have ommited the complete stack trace, since it is monstrously huge.

    Guess I was wrong in thinking that this was an isolated weblogic 10.0 problem. I just downloaded weblogic 10.3 and tried to deploy the same application there, and the same error happened.

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/stripes/files/stripes/Stripes%201.5.2/stripes-1.5.2.zip/download
    There is an example WAR called "stripes-examples.war" in the zip that is ready to be deployed.

    PS: you still need to start weblogic with Sun JDK rather than JRockit to get the error. With JRockit the application simply fails when used.

  • HTTP handler for starting an external service cannot be read

    Hi,
    When i execute the work item from Business Work place and also from the UWL in Enterprise portal of the task TS21300098 for HR Process Requisition workflow.
    In the Error is says
    HTTP handler for starting an external service cannot be read
    Message no. SWK045
    Diagnosis
    This work item is a link to a HTTP service. To start the service, a launch handler must be known to the SAP System.
    However, the system could not find a launch handler.
    System Response
    The workflow system cannot start execution of the work item.
    Procedure
    Contact your workflow administrator:
    In Customizing you must maintain a launch handler for HTTP-supported dialog services.
    I have checked the config under WF_HANDCUST transaction and made the launch Handler settings generated automatically.
    But still the problem occurs.
    Any Suggesions and help?
    Thanks & Regards
    Sumanth

    hi Guys,
    I have got the same issue. This blog helped me with tcode WF_HANDCUST. I have generated the url
    http://waspgh.kcc.com:8083/sap/bc/webflow/wshandler-->Click on Generate URL and click on distribution.
    Immediately u will get click on Test url . Click Test url . Then It is not successful. It stopped at
    http://waspgh.kcc.com:8083/sap/bc/webflow
    Getting http page error. So use tcode sicf >sap>bc-->webflow service and activate it.
    Then test the connection. It will be successfull.
    http://waspgh.kcc.com:8083/sap/bc/webflow/wshandler?ping=true&sap-client=400
    Handler test
    Test successful

    If I remove the tags above, everything works correctly. I cannot understand what is the problem.
    I am adding Weblogic Http PubSub to an existent application (so I do not know why tags have been inserted).
    Does anyone can help me understand this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    I would open a service request with Oracle support for this.

  • HTTP Handler strange behavior when updating HR data

    Hi there,
    Brief summary: Executing a function module from inside a HTTP Handler gives a different result than executing the function module direcly through SE37. The user defined for the SICF service calling the Handler is the same as the one we use for SE37.
    Details:
    We have created an HTTP Handler implementing the interface IF_HTTP_EXTENSION.
    We have also defined a new service through SICF that access the previous Handler.
    We have a web application accessing SAP through that HTTP Handler.
    Within our HTTP Handler (within the IF_HTTP_EXTENSION~HANDLE_REQUEST method), we are calling a custom function module that perform different actions depending on the parameters received.
    The solution works really well but we have identified an issue for some actions: when we execute some background updates (like calling HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION) and the transaction returns an error, the HTTP Handler suddenly stops and the HTTP call returns an error.
    The strange thing is that executing the function module directly (without calling the HTTP handler from the web) captures the error and continues the execution of the function module.
    It seems that when the function module gets called from the Handler, there is some screen or user parameters that affect the result of the transaction, and we cannot find the way to capture that error and let the Handler to continue.
    Any idea, suggestion, alternative solution would be much appreciated
    Best regards,
    Miguel

    Hi Olivier, thanks for your reply, nice to see you are still out there
    You raise a good point. We are reusing an "old" web app that was connecting to SAP through the DCOM connector. The RFC (the function module I mentioned on my first post) cannot be modified as it handles tons of different web calls, so we decided to call that RFC from the Handler.
    It may not be the best solution, but the web app has been modified to call the different handlers (for the different environments) and still hope to find a work around our current problem.
    Other than that, it works really well and performance is amazing
    Thanks again,
    Miguel

  • PCR workflow - HTTP handler for starting an external service cannot be read

    Hi,
    We are implementing PCR Approval using adobe forms. Currently when we try to open the adobe form for Approval from the UWL we get the error(it actually displays with an information message symbol) "<b>HTTP handler for starting an external service cannot be read</b>" in an ITS screen. We found an exactly similar problem in the below link but unable to find a resolution from that.
    HTTP handler for starting an external service cannot be read
    The detailed information message displayed is as given below,
    <b>
    HTTP handler for starting an external service cannot be read

    Diagnosis
    This work item is a link to a HTTP service. To start the service, a launch handler must be known to the SAP System.
    However, the system could not find a launch handler.
    System response
    The workflow system cannot start execution of the work item.
    Procedure

    Hi Jocelyn,
    Thanks for that reply.
    I tried the transactions SICF and WF_HANDCUST.
    1. In SICF under sap>bc>webflow-->wshandler when i double click on wshandler it shows that the service is active. But when i right click on the same and try to TEST it, i get an error
    <b>Error in Web service execution
    The launch handler was called with an incomplete parameter list </b>
    I am not sure what this error means.
    The configurations available in this service are as follows,
    ICF path --> /default_host/sap/bc/webflow/
    ICF Object --> wshandler
    Decription --> English
    Logon Procedure --> Standard
    Security Requirements --> Standard
    Basic Authentication --> Standard R/3 user
    Anonymous logon data
    client --> <empty>
    user --> empty
    password --> <empty-stillinitial>
    Language --> <empty>
    I am not clear what id and password should be maintained here. Can you please help us on this.
    2. When i try to generate the URL in WF_HANDCUST and test them i get a success message.

  • Delicate ProgressMonitor/ event handling problem

    Hi,
    I have a delicate ProgressMonitor / event handling problem.
    There exists some solution on similiar problems here in the forums, but no solution to my special problem, hope anybody can help me out.
    I have a rather big project, an applet, that I've written a separate JarLoader class that will load specific jar's if the ClassLoader encounter a unloaded class, all ok so far.
    But, during loading, I would like to display a ProgressBar. And here is the problem. If my custom ClassLoader intercepts a findClass -request that needs to load the class from a jar from a normal thread, this is no problem, but if the ClassLoader intercepts a findClass that needs loading a jar when inside the EventQueue -thread, this is becomming tricky!
    The catch is that an event posted on the EventQueue finally needs a class that needs to be loaded, but I cannot dispatch a thread to do this and end that particular event before the class itself is loaded.
    So how do I hold the current EventQueue -event needing a jar -load, Pop up a ProgressBar, then process events in the EventQueue to display the ProgressBar and update repaints in it? then return from the event that now have loaded needed class-files.
    I've tried a tip described earlier in the forums by trying to handle events with this code when loading the Jar:
        /** process any waiting events - use during long operations
         * to update UI */
        static public void doEvents() {
            // need to derive from EventQueue otherwise
            // don't have access to protected method dispatchEvent()
            class EvtQueue extends java.awt.EventQueue {
                public void doEvents() {
                    Toolkit toolKit = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
                    EventQueue evtQueue = toolKit.getSystemEventQueue();
                    // loop whilst there are events to process
                    while (evtQueue.peekEvent() != null) {
                        try {
                            // if there are then get the event
                            AWTEvent evt = evtQueue.getNextEvent();
                            // and dispatch it
                            super.dispatchEvent(evt);
                        catch (java.lang.InterruptedException e) {
                            // if we get an exception in getNextEvent()
                            // do nothing
            // create an instance of our new class
            EvtQueue evtQueue = new EvtQueue();
            // and call the doEvents method to process the events.
            evtQueue.doEvents();
        }Then, the loader checks
    java.awt.EventQueue.isDispatchThread()to see if its' inside the eventqueue, and runs doEvents after updating the ProgressMonitor with new setProgress and setNote values.
    More precise;
    The loader is loading the jar like this:
    (this is pseudo code, not really usable, but outlines the vital parts)
    public void load() {
      monitor = new ProgressMonitor(null, "Loading " + jarName, ""+jarSize + " bytes", 0, jarSize);
      monitor.setMillisToDecideToPopup(0);
      monitor.setMillisToPopup(0);
      // reading jar info code here ...
      JarEntry zip = input.getNextJarEntry();
      for (;zip != null;) {
         // misc file handling here... total = current bytes read
         monitor.setProgress(total);
         monitor.setNote(note);
         if (java.awt.EventQueue.isDispatchThread()) {
            doEvents();
         zip = input.getNextJarEntry();
      monitor.close();
    }When debugging doEvents(), there is never any events pending in peekEvents(), even if I tries to put a invokeLater() to run the setProgress on the monitor, why? If it had worked, the doEvents() code would have saved my day...
    So, this is where I'm totally stuck...

    Just want to describe how I did this using spin from http://spin.sourceforge.net
    This example is not pretty, but it can probably help others understanding spin. Cancelling the ProgressMonitor is not implemented, but can easily be done by checking on ProgressMonitor.isCanceled() in
    the implementation code.
    First, I create a bean for displaying and run a ProgressMonitor:
    Spin requires an Interface and an Implementation, but that's just nice programming practice :-)
    import java.util.*;
    public interface ProgressMonitorBean {
        public void start(); // start spinning
        public void cancel(); // cancel
        public int getProgress(); // get the current progress value
        public void setProgress(int progress); // set progress value
        public void addObserver(Observer observer); // observer on the progressValue
    }Then, I created the implementation:
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.swing.ProgressMonitor;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class ProgressMonitorBeanImpl extends Observable implements ProgressMonitorBean {
        private ProgressMonitor monitor;
        private boolean cancelled;
        private int  progress = 0;
        private int  currentprogress = 0;
        public ProgressMonitorBeanImpl(Component parent, Object message, String note, int min, int max) {
            monitor = new ProgressMonitor(parent, message, note, min, max);
            monitor.setMillisToDecideToPopup(0);
            monitor.setMillisToPopup(0);
        public void cancel() {
            monitor.close();
        public void start() {
            cancelled = false;
            progress = 0;
            currentprogress = 0;
            while (progress < m_cMonitor.getMaximum()) {
                try {
                    synchronized (this) {
                        wait(50); // Spinning with 50 ms delay
                    if (progress != currentprogress) { // change only when different from previous value
                        setChanged();
                        notifyObservers(new Integer(progress));
                        monitor.setProgress(progress);
                        currentprogress = progress;
                } catch (InterruptedException ex) {
                    // ignore
                if (cancelled) {
                    break;
        public int getProgress() {
            return progress;
        public void setProgress(int progress) {
            this.progress = progress;
    }in my class/jarloader code, something like this is done:
    public void load() {
      ProgressMonitorBean monitor = (ProgressMonitorBean)Spin.off(new ProgressMonitorBeanImpl(null, "Loading " + url,"", 0, jarSize));
      Thread t = new Thread() {
        public void run() {
          JarEntry zip = input.getNextJarEntry();
          for (;zip != null;) {
            // misc file handling here... progress = current bytes read
         monitor.setProgress(progress);
      t.start(); // fire off loadin into own thread to do time consuming work
      monitor.start(); // this will spin events on monitor and block until progress = max
      monitor.cancel(); // Just make sure ProgressMonitor is closed
    }The beautiful thing here is that Spin is taking care of weither the load() is inside the dispatch thread or not, making the code much simpler and cleaner to understand.
    The ProgressMonitorBeanImplementation could been made much nicer and more complete, but I was in a hurry to check if it worked out. And it did! This will be applied on a lot of gui -components that blocks the event-queue in our project, making it much more responsive.
    Hope this will help others in similiar situations! Thanks again svenmeier for pointing me to the spin -project.

  • How do I handle errors from a call to an http handler routine on the server?

    I have written an http handler for the server. It is used for file uploads. It works fine.
    However, if the server gets any kind of exception, I don't seem to get anything back in the Silverlight httpWebRequest.  It seems like something in the communications sees the exception as a  "server not found" type error.  And a
    Dialog pops up that appears to NOT be my code that says the message.
    For my WCF calls, I implemented a SilverlightFaultBehavior that switched the status code to OK and I was able to get the server exceptions from my WCF calls into my Silverlight app.
    But how do I do that for an http handler?  What do I have to add, if anything to the server side and what do I need to do on the Silverlight client side?

    How are you calling your service?
    You should be doing asynchronous calls and supplying a callback with silverlight.
    Check for errors in the callback.
    FileListServiceReference.FileListServiceClient proxy = new ITSupport.FileListServiceReference.FileListServiceClient();
    proxy.GetFileListCompleted += new EventHandler<ITSupport.FileListServiceReference.GetFileListCompletedEventArgs>(proxy_FileListCompleted);
    proxy.GetFileListAsync(fileList);
    void proxy_FileListCompleted(object sender, ITSupport.FileListServiceReference.GetFileListCompletedEventArgs e)
    ObservableCollection<ImageVM> ims = new ObservableCollection<ImageVM>();
    if (e.Error == null)
    That does stuff if there's no errors and returns nothing if there are but you might want more sophisticated handling.
    Hope that helps.

  • Exception Handling Problem In BPM

    All
    I am facing an exception handling problem I am using BPM and , I have caught exception in the transformation step but when there is any data problem in that mapping(mentioned in the transformation)
    it is not throwing the exception . is there any option to collect these type of system exception in  the bpm and give a alert thru mail
    is there any way to collect these type of exception happened in the BPE and raise alert thru generic alert
    Thanks
    Jayaraman

    Hi Jayaraman,
        When you say there is any data problem, does that fail the message mapping that you have defined?
    If the message mapping used in the tranformation fails, it should raise an exception in the BPM.
    Did you test the message mapping using the payload and see if it really fails or not?

  • GUI event handling problems appear in 1.4.1 vs. 1.3.1?

    Hi,
    Has anyone else experienced strange event handling problems when migrating from 1.3.1 to 1.4.1? My GUI applications that make use of Swing's AbstractTableModel suddenly don't track mouse and selection events quickly anymore. Formerly zippy tables are now very unresponsive to user interactions.
    I've run the code through JProbe under both 1.3 and 1.4 and see no differences in the profiles, yet the 1.4.1 version is virtually unusable. I had hoped that JProbe would show me that some low-level event-handling related or drawing method was getting wailed on in 1.4, but that was not the case.
    My only guess is that the existing installation of 1.3.1 is interfering with the 1.4.1 installation is some way. Any thoughts on that before I trash the 1.3.1 installation (which I'm slightly reluctant to do)?
    My platform is Windows XP Pro on a 2GHz P4 with 1GB RAM.
    Here's my test case:
    import javax.swing.table.AbstractTableModel;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class VerySimpleTableModel extends AbstractTableModel
    private int d_rows = 0;
    private int d_cols = 0;
    private String[][] d_data = null;
    public VerySimpleTableModel(int rows,int cols)
    System.err.println("Creating table of size [" + rows + "," + cols +
    d_rows = rows;
    d_cols = cols;
    d_data = new String[d_rows][d_cols];
    int r = 0;
    while (r < d_rows){
    int c = 0;
    while (c < d_cols){
    d_data[r][c] = new String("[" + r + "," + c + "]");
    c++;
    r++;
    System.err.println("Done.");
    public int getRowCount()
    return d_rows;
    public int getColumnCount()
    return d_cols;
    public Object getValueAt(int rowIndex, int columnIndex)
    return d_data[rowIndex][columnIndex];
    public static void main(String[] args)
    System.err.println( "1.4..." );
    JFrame window = new JFrame();
    window.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
    JPanel panel = new JPanel();
    Dimension size = new Dimension(500,500);
    panel.setMinimumSize(size);
    panel.setMaximumSize(size);
    JTable table = new JTable(new VerySimpleTableModel(40,5));
    panel.add(table);
    window.getContentPane().add(panel);
    window.setSize(new Dimension(600,800));
    window.validate();
    window.setVisible(true);
    Thanks in advance!!
    - Dean

    Hi,
    I've fixed the problem by upgrading to 1.4.1_02. I was on 1.4.1_01.
    I did further narrow down the symptoms more. It seemed the further the distance from the previous mouse click, the longer it would take for the table row to highlight. So, clicking on row 1, then 2, was much faster than clicking on row 1, then row 40.
    If no one else has seen this problem -- good! I wouldn't wish the tremendous waste of time I've had on anyone!

  • Labview slider event handling problems - revisited

    This topic asked a question that was very close to a problem I am having:
    Labview slider event handling problems
    That is, how do I, using an event structure and/or other means, only read out the value of a slider control after the value change is finalized?
    The extra constraint I'd like to place on this, which I believe will invalidate the answer given in the thread above, is that my slider control also has a digital display which can also be used to change the value without ever using the mouse. I cannot look for a value change followed by a mouse-up event if the mouse was not used to change the value.
    Any ideas how this might be accomplished? FWIW, I am using LabVIEW 7.0

    Each and every incremental value-change event generated by the movement of the slider is still detected and queued up for use by the event structure and the event structure loop wades through them all before it's done.
    I have come up the attached "fix" (LV v7.0) for this problem. While it is not as clean a solution as I had hoped it would be, it's the best I can manage given what LabVIEW offers me to work with and it does work in the situation where I need to use it.
    Now, within the Finalize Slider Events subVI, I'm keeping track of the most-recent values seen by the subVI, checking to see if they have changed, and reporting out that fact. That gives me a Changed/Not-Changed bit within the event case that I can use to control what code then gets executed. If the event case is just playing catch-up to the real value of the control, I can now see that fact and ignore it.
    In this version I've also dumped the variant output and limited the VI to using DBL values. I decided it added complication to something that was too complicated already and I wanted the output terminals for other purposes anyway (reporting of the correct "OldVal" of the control).Message Edited by Warren Massey on 04-28-2005 03:56 AM
