Weblogic.rmi and java.rmi

Hi,
I would like to use weblogic to access a java object on another machine that
is using java.rmi. I am using the java "rmiregistry" on the non weblogic box.>
How can I write a java program that maintains state to that object at weblogic
startup and call it with a weblogic client?
Thanks

MediatorInterface mediator = (MediatorInterface) java.rmi.Naming.lookup("rmi://localhost:7001/TestMediator);This implies JRMP which the server does not support. You need to use t3 or iiop.

  • Rmic and java.rmi troubles

    Hi
    Have been trying to run the rmi calculator-example at http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/rmi/RMI.html, but keep getting:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.InternalError: Unexpected exception while defining class CalculatorImpl
    <<No stacktrace available>>
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java.rmi.server.UnicastRemoteObject not found in [file:./, core:/]
    <<No stacktrace available>>
    when i do ">rmic CalculatorImpl"
    Suspected at first that it was a classpath-problem. But using ">rmic -classpath c:\j2sdk1.4.2_05\lib CalculatorImpl" gave the same error.
    Anyone know why I get this error?
    regards

    Sorry, my error, I didn't read your post closely.
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.InternalError: Unexpected exception while defining class CalculatorImplInternal Error = Thrown to indicate some unexpected internal error has occurred in the Java Virtual Machine.
    VirtualMachineError =Thrown to indicate that the Java Virtual Machine is broken or has run out of resources necessary for it to continue operating.
    I would have to take a wild guess and that wouldn't be fair to you. Normally I would congradulate you on breaking the JVM but I don't suppose you're ready for that yet.

  • Rebind Method and java.rmi.server.hostname

    Hello,
    We are trying to execute a server on the internet which is installed in a machine whose private IP address is 10.X.X.XX.
    To access the server by internet, the IP address is 196.XXX.XXX.XX and is converted by NAT to the IP address 10.X.X.XX.
    I start the server with the command:
    java -Djava.rmi.server.hostname=196.XXX.XXX.XXX myServer
    Also, and according some recommendation in this forum, we don't use the "rmiregistry" and instead we use the method:
    Registry r = LocateRegistry.getRegistry(MYPORT);
    r.rebind("MyServer", obj);
    However,
    And it takes about over 4 minutes for this app to execute the rebind method. Does anyone know why ?
    If I start without java.rmi.server.hostname propert. it executes immediatelly, but then I can't access the server from outside firewall.
    Am I missing something?
    Any advice or idea?
    Thanks
    Gerardo
    PS. I am using Java 1.4.1 under Linux Red Hat 9.0.

    I start the server with the command:
    java -Djava.rmi.server.hostname=196.XXX.XXX.XXX myServerThe wait is probably due to your DNS setup. Is a client inside the firewall able to reverse-resolve a 196.xxx.xxx.xxx address?

  • Difference between RMI and Java Beans

    Hello
    I have to develop a program that allow the users to have access to the Patient information . The program will also organize appointment between the users and the patients. + extra thing like agenda .....
    I will have about 10 to 20 user that will have access at the same time to the same info .
    My question is :what is the best solution for such kind of programes
    RMI :after searching in google (it is light weight )
    java beans:more powerful than RMI

  • Cobol rmi and java

    Friends is it possible to have interaction between java and Cobol.
    I mean I want to use JSP as front end and the entered data(by some user) should be passed as parameter to a COBOL program.Then the data is processed and the o/p from COBOL program should be passed to JSP .
    thanks.

    COBOL, FORTRAN, PL/1 etc are source languages. Run the source through a compiler and you get object. Link the object and you get an executable.
    Java can talk to any executable through the JNI.
    Search the forum for COBOL. There are some others trying this.
    From my experience, using the CICS ECI allows any executable to converse with mainframes and mini computers.

  • Standard Java RMI and WLS5.1?

    I would surmise that the problem you are seeing is the result of the fact
    that we do not except standard Java RMI calls using the functionality in the
    JDK. You must use the WebLogic implementation of RMI. It is exactly the
    same in terms of APIs, but we have gone through and optimize the underlying
    protocol.
    Please see the documentation for more details.
    We offer both RMI over IIOP and RMI over T3.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    I was trying to get a simple callback demo working using standard java
    RMI and the WLS5.1. Unfortunately, although things seemed to compile
    and launch smoothly, when the client started up and tried to talk to the
    WLS I would get the following error:
    weblogic.rmi.server.ExportException: A description for CallbackImpl was
    found but it could not be read due to: [Failed to find a stub for [class
    CallbackImpl] implements at least one interface [interface Callback]
    which extends Remote.]
    weblogic.rmi.StubNotFoundException: Failed to find a stub for [class
    CallbackImpl] implements at least one interface [interface Callback]
    which extends Remote.
    I tried determining if this was a classpath problem, but all my efforts
    kept producing this result.
    On the flip side, if I retool my objects slightly in order to make them
    use weblogic.rmi.*, then everything works perfectly.
    Is there a tradeoff to using weblogic.rmi over java.rmi?
    Also, does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing my error
    when using standard rmi?
    Thanks so much in advance,
    Mario-

    The stack trace is complaining about not being able to open a socket, essentially. Or rather, it has opened a socket and something else has closed it.
    Combine with the number 50, and that's ringing very faint bells for me - what OS are you running this on ? I rather think that some OS (really can't remember which - Windows 95 possibly ?) doesn't allow you to open more than 50 sockets without changing a system parameter somewhere... ? Worth having a google around to see if you can find this - sorry I don't recall more about it.
    Dave.

              for (int i=0;i<10;i++)
                   System.out.println("Tiempo perfecto: "+t.obtenerTiempoPerfecto());
    }I compile all the files normally.
    Later I do:
    rmiregistry &
    rmic c15.rmi.TiempoPerfecto(This only generate the file TiempoPerfecto_Stub.class, it's ok?)
    Without warnings or errors. But when I try to create a server object
    java c15/rmi/TiempoPerfectoI obtain this:

    You must change your current directory to your class path (EX: java c15/rmi/TiempoPerfecto) then execute command remiregistry.

  • JAVA RMI thr HTTP throws NoRouteToHostException

    Hi,
    I am developing an application that would be used in a firewall environment. As part of my test environment, I have blocked port 1099 and have allowed port 80 access on the server. So all the RMI calls from the client should be tunnelled thru port 80 in the server.
    I have ported the java-rmi.cgi script (unix version) to windows version. So I am confident that my RMI client, java-rmi.cgi are correct. But I am getting NoRouteToHost Exception and my application has to exit.
    My understanding is that when the RMI client tries to connect 1099 (rmi port) and if it fails, it will try to connect to port 80 and later all the rmi calls should be embedded within http commands. Does my web-server (apache) needs to be configured for this?
    I have also tried setting http.proxtHost, but of no avail.
    Please let me know of your solutions.

  • Java-rmi.exe

    Hi,
    I have client (applet) server (RMI) system that needs to work through a firewall.
    Everything i have read says that there is a java-rmi.cgi and java-rmi.exe files in the bin dir of the JDK. I have jdk 1.3.1.1 installed and could not find it. I downloaded JDK 1.2.1 and that didnt have it either. I found that jdk 1.1 did have the java-rmi.cgi file but now i dont know how to use it properly.
    I am running a windows server with IIS 5 and am not sure how to configure it to run cgi. Maybe i should find the exe version? Where is it?
    Cheers
    Stew

    It is java-rmi.cgi or java-rmi.exe depending on the platform. Instructions are given in the JDK. However this is for RMI/JRMP. This is the RMI/IIOP forum, and java-rmi.cgi doesn't work for RMI/IIOP.

  • How to identify the installed Weblogic Server and JDK are 32bit or 64bit?

    Hi everyone,
    I have a question ~
    Both Weblogic Server and JAVA JDK are installed on the server already, but I only know the Weblogic Server is 10.3.4.0 and JAVA JDK version is 1.6.0_25.
    I know the 64bit Weblogic Server installation file is a wlsXXXX_generic.jar package and 64bit JAVA JDK needed also.
    But, since the Weblogic installed already, there are no such installation files on the Linux Server now.
    I have tried the "java -version" for java version and check the Weblogic version from Weblogic console.
    How to identify the installed Weblogic Server and JDK are 32bit or 64bit with Linux command? Or is there any way to check it?

    What you can try to do is use WLST (or an MBean browser, such as JConsole or JRockit Mission Control) and connect to the adminserver.
    For example when using WLST:
    # set the environment by using setWLSEnv.sh (located in the ${WL_HOME}/server/bin directory).
    # start WLST by using: java weblogic.WLST
    # connect to the adminserver
    connect('adminusername','adminpassword');
    # change to the serverruntime environment
    serverRuntime();
    # show the attributes
    ls();
    # Here an attribute is shown called WebLogicVersion that shows the version of WebLogic
    -r--   WeblogicVersion                              WebLogic Server 10.3.5.0  Fri Apr 1 20:20:06 PDT 2011 1398638
    # Note that this does not show if is 32 bits or 64 bits to retrieve this information you have obtain the JVM version
    # change the directory
    cd('JVMRuntime/AdminServer');
    # show the attributes
    ls();
    -r--   Version                                      R28.0.1-21-133393-1.6.0_20-20100512-2126-linux-x86_64
    # when you have something like x86 at the you are running a 32 bit version, if you have something like x86_64 you are running a 64 bits versionAs mentioned above you can also retrieve this information by using a MBean browser.
