Weblogic timer and ClassCastExcetion
Hi,
I have very strange problem. I have weblogic timer and when it's time to start the weblogic start's bean and all goes fine till get "home object" from another WLS where I get ClassCastException. Whot is funny if the same bean is started by stand alone client all works fine. I think that timer proces started by weblogic don't see classes that I'm trying to cast to. All classes are in ear file in APP-INF/lib.
What I have to do ??
Damian Grela
So I'm creating the timer(weblogic.management.timer.Timer) object in method ejbCreate() in InitBean.
Yes, when I invoke handling bean by stand alone client all works good.

Weblogic em and console crashes in Forms 11gR2 domain
Hi,
I am working towards an APEX and/or Forms11gR2 environment from Forms and Reports 6i.
Coming from a client-server background,with the concept of application servers etc totally unfamiliar territory.
and a near-zero knowledge of Java its been a tough few weeks,but I have managed to install a test 11gR2 Windows 32 Oracle Database win 7,
Weblogic 10_3_5 Admin server and a managed server on Windows Server 2008 32 bit 4GB memory,install and deploy
APEX and the APEX Listener and also install Forms and Reports 11gR2 using a separate domain as required by the installer.
The Weblogic Admin server and its managed server are stable and i can access and administer them no problem from a browser
with em and console.
My problem is with the domain created by Forms and Reports for deployment. I can login to the console and em of
that domain but whenever I click on a link inside, the domain crashes with a "fatal error detected by the Java Runtime environment".
The Domain name is FormsDomain.
As I need to start the WLS_FORM and WLS_REPORT in the Forms Domain through the console, I am stuck.
Can anyone help,I have pasted the output form the created log file:
# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
# java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: requested 131080 bytes for Chunk::new. Out of swap space?

a hint anyone?
The domains I created with JDeveloper work without any problems and are totally stable,
while the one created through Oracle Forms just crashes all the time when accessed through the console
or em.
Is there any difference between these domains?
They all use jdk160_24 and the Forms Domain crashes even when running alone, so it can't be lack of
physical memory, I would think..
I would have created a domain through JDeveloper and extend it, but extending a domain is only possible if
the domain is created with Forms, so I am well and truly stuck here.

Usage dependency is created at Build time and installation time
Hi,
The infrastructure guys have selected the usage dependency as Build time and Installation time, while creating software components.
"Y" SWC is created as depedency for "X" software component.
In SLD(software catalog), we are able to view the Y component as dependency in X component(at both build time and installation time). In usage dependency we are able to view Y component but when we click Y component in usage dependecy we are also able to view X component. Is there any problem with this ?
There is another issue. we are able to view basis object(in IR) in Y component but not in X component. Actually as per the above configuration basis object in IR should appear in X component.
Please refer to another forum which may give you some more idea.("BPM - Message interfaces of one component are not appearing in another comp") pasted on 17 Nov,2006.
Please could you provide us the inputs.

Best practice using Using the WebLogic Timer Service
Hi,
We have a stateless session bean having a method which needs to be called lezs
say every 10 Seconds. I think the WebLogic Timer Service (JMX) should exactly
fit in this problem. So I would write a small class implementing the interface
NotificationListener which will receive the notification. The listener I would
register in my startup class.
This brings up some questions:
Could this class be a inner class of the SessionBean and directly calling the
method on the bean ?
Has it to be a more independent class gettting an initiali context, getting local
home, etc. etc. and then executing the method on the received Stub ? If yes can
it keep the Stub betwean the interval without releasing ?
Has someone experiance in this area ?
Regards
TomyActually, it's bad practice to use break anywhere other than in conjunction with a switch statement.Presumably, if you favour:
boolean test = true;
while (test)
test = foo && bar;
if (test)
}overfor (;;)
if (! ( foo && bar) ) break;
}then you also favour
boolean test = foo && bar;
if (test)
}overif (foo && bar)
}Or can you justify your statement with any example which doesn't cause more complexity, more variables in scope, and multiple assignments and tests? -

WebLogic Timer services.
WebLogic has deprecated Timer services with version 6.1 and recommend using Flux.
What is the rationale behind that? What do other scheduling services offer over the
standard JDK java.util.Timer class where I can kick of scheduled tasks?
Thanks ahead of time for your response.

Monitoring Weblogic Time Service
Hello
I built a number of java classes that implemented ScheduleDef and
Triggerdef.
Then these classes are scheduled using WebLogic Time Service.
The question is :
Is there a way to query WLS to find out how many of these classes are
currently
being scheduled? We need to find out which one are no longer running in the
system
so we can reschedule them. But we also need to know if one is already
scheduled and
therefore disallow the ability to schedule a 2nd instance in the server.
ThanksThey did state a reason. They expect these services to become part of J2EE.
You can still use them, or check out something like Flux from Sims
Computing.
Peace,

How to measure query run time and mnitor performance
Hai All,
A simple question. How to measure query run time and mnitor performance? I want to see the parameters like how long it took to execute, how much space it took etc.

some ways
1. use transaction st03, expert mode.
2. tables rsddstat*
3. install bw statistics (technical content)

We are planning on upgrading to weblogic 7.0. We are running into issues since weblogic 7.0 now has its own implementation of SOAP message handlers and handler chains (MessageFactoryImpl, SoapFactoryImpl, MimeHeaders etc).
We have tested adding saaj.jar,Axis.jar prior to weblogic.jar for the runtime class path and it is working fine.
Can you please share your thoughts/ideas/recommendations/implications of doing this.
Thanks for your time and help.The way we tested is to create a webapp and place the axis.jar in the WEB-INF/lib directory.

Any kind of integration experience with Weblogic JMS and Oracle AQ?
Hi,
In my company I work with java developers who believe in some kind of "holly" database independence I don't understand and as a result my life as a database developer is hell on earth.. Yesterday we again started to discuss, this time where to log, they believe database is slow and prefer logging to filesystem, after some hours finally I could convince them for some operational and reporting needs to use the database and will do this in an asyncronous way whiich they won't get slow. After all I believe the reason for a database is data, this is the place where data lives, and with the correct desing and implementation logging to database would perform better.
I love Oracle features, and know that we paid a lot for this software, so today I started investigating this promised solution. And quickly I found AQ and JMS topics in the documentation :)
After this introduction here is my problem; my company use BEA Weblogic as application server and the java guys want AQ to automatically (but of course with some delay) take their JMS log requests into database tables. Does any one have similar application experience, or any kind of integration experience with Weblogic JMS and Oracle AQ?
Any comments, references, documentation, sample code, url will be most welcomed :)
Thank you very much!

http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/web_services/jmsws/NewsQueueEJB.java.htmlI wouldn't go as far to say Oracle AQ is out-dated today. However, it is indeed a proprietary technology that did not found much main-stream adoption in the earlier years after its introduction. The advent of JMS made it somewhat more useful (or should I say intriguing, because more people are trying to tie it together with other J2EE technologies), but the Oracle's JMS wrapper classes in aqapi.jar were not feature complete for a long while, so using it outside Oracle's application server was painful, if not impossible. I do agree that the info at the dev2dev's JMS newsgroup or in this forum is highly fragmented, as neither Oracle nor BEA provides an official solution to integrate AQ with WebLogic, so people like us have to learn the technology through experimentation and in a piecemeal fashion.
3 years ago I was literally "playing around" - we had a polling mechanism set up to use triggers to write Oracle data changes into an event table, and had a Java-based daemon to scan that table and publish events as JMS messages to the WebLogic JMS server. This continues to work reliably till today, but I was looking for a solution that has few parts - I wanted to hook up my WebLogic MDB directly to AQ as a foreign JMS provider. Although I was able to get it to work (including XA), there were a few hoops I had to jump through, such as decompiling the Oracle AQjms classes to make them bind to the WebLogic JNDI tree.
One year after that Diptanshu Parui took what I did a giant step further - he extended the Oracle AQjms classes to allow them to be bound to the WebLogic JNDI tree naturally, and he figured out how to use WebLogic JMS messging bridge to re-send single-threaded AQ JMS messages to clustered JMS queues, which allow concurrent message assumption by multiple instances of MDB's. My impression is that he is using that setup in a production environment.
I am sure you are aware of it but I would like to make it clear - in order to use AQ as a foreign JMS provider to WebLogic-hosted MDB's, you don't need to update your database to Oracle 10g - Oracle 8i is good enough (although I recommend at least 9i Release 2). It is not the database engine, but rather the aqapi.jar JMS wrapper on top of AQ that matters. I do recommend that you use aqapi.jar from Oracle Application Server 10.0.3 or up for better XA support, among other things. Again, you don't have to replace WebLogic with Oracle AS - you only need a single jar file from it and put it in your WebLogic's classpath. However, I don't know what this means from a licensing point of view if you ever go to production - do you have to pay the full price of OracleAS or OC4J just to use the aqapi.jar?
In the coming days I will test the latest aqapi.jar to see how much progress Oracle has made in terms of making their J2EE products more spec-compliant :-).
Hope the above gives you a different perspective.

Someone posted a message last year regarding the weblogic time api. I am
having a similar error and wanted to know if anyone has resolved this
issue.
I'm simply running the ServerTime.java application located in the
weblogic/examples/time folder.
I get the following on the wl console log when i run the test app:

Thanks in advance for any assistance given.
-MarioThe key is that there are three or four interfaces that you need and it
really only makes sense to have one class and implement them all on it.

Hi,
I have to admit that the examples aren't as clear about showing the
functionality as they should be. However, I think that if you take theexamples
as a starting point and play with them a little, you will see that it'snot too
difficult to use this API.

Weblogic.time.scheduler
Anyone know why weblogic.time.scheduler is deprecated in 6.1 ?
and what is suggested to be used in place ?
Thanks.In the next release, we're planning on providing an implementation of
the JMX timer APIs which will provide a non-proprietary interface for
accomplishing the same functionality. You should be able to use JMX
APIs in the server today via the java.management.timer.Timer class. In
the next release, we plan to have a version of this that is better
integrated in the server, and provides higher performance.
